"In this authentic winstub in the heart of Little Venice, the cuisine is – of course – regional: salad with Comté cheese and cervelas, "Papi Lucien's onion tart", sauerkraut and braised pork knuckle, Pinot Noir sauce. Local produce, a friendly atmosphere and a pleasant terrace." - Michelin Inspector

A Wonderful French Dining Experience! We had an absolutely delightful experience at this French restaurant! Making a reservation online was incredibly easy and convenient — a great start to what turned out to be an exceptional evening. The food was truly outstanding — beautifully presented, full of flavor, and perfectly portioned from starters to desserts. Every dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. What really elevated the experience, though, was the service. Our waitress spoke excellent English and took the time to walk us through the entire menu, including the specials, with genuine enthusiasm and knowledge. We never felt rushed, and each course arrived at just the right pace, allowing us to really enjoy the meal and conversation. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed yet refined dining experience. Highly recommend this restaurant — from the seamless online reservation to the exceptional cuisine and top-notch service, everything was perfect! (For the restaurant: On our receipt Service : Mona (2)* I hope this was our server because she was outstanding; we were at table number 10 couvert 4 on 13/10/2025 @ 20:42)

I came here based on the Michelin guide. There was nothing wrong or bad with this place so my review reflects my partner and my cuisine preferences. The Alsace wine was great. Which you’d expect given the proximity to vineyards. So top marks for that. The main meals however were not enjoyable for us. There was a clear focus on France-Germany border specialities. Which is great from a cultural perspective if you want to try the food. But let’s face it, the German and France-German areas are not world renowned for their food. So, you should expect a very different flavour compared to other French food. The focus is pork. Cured and cooked. And cabbage. Lots of it. I’m sure some people with love that. But not us I’m afraid. The staff were great. We had a waitress with lots of tattoos and beautifully decorated nails. She had a very serious face but was actually a very nice girl. The desert was good. And when you finish it there is a nice surprise in the crockery. This was an experience but not one I want to repeat I’m afraid.

Not as good as we’d hoped for a Michelin star restaurant. The Appetizers were excellent. The main course was not what we’d expected and the dessert was the furthest thing from tirimisu I’ve ever had.

We dined here this weekend during the Christmas Markets and it was absolutely lovely- definitely recommend (but you must make a reservation to sit- they were completely full at the moment of opening). First, the service was lovely. The team of 3 folks (host and two servers) were not only incredibly busy shuffling food and refilling glasses and clearing tables, but incredibly friendly and courteous- always smiling and asking “Did you enjoy it?” as you eat. Truly stellar, hard working staff- but the friendliest I’ve had in a long time in Europe after several visits to different parts of France. The food was delightful- had the onion pie (so much perfect onion flavor!) and the Bibilakas, and felt like the perfect delicious comfort food after a day out and about. We also had a perfect bottle of wine (and the lovely server perfectly opened and served us each time our glasses were empty). I think any of the negative reviews may come from a lack of understanding about Alsatian food. It really is delicious and a great sampling of the area’s cuisine. In addition, many folks mistakenly think it has a Michelin star when it is actually Michelin guide, and get angry that it is “not a michelin level experience” simply not understanding what it means. It fit the definition to us perfectly, having visited dozens of Michelin guide spots in our home of NYC. Thank you Wistub team- especially the lovely fabulous team of hosts and servers working on December 5th! We were truly wowed by all of you. Happy Holidays!

Google
A wonderful dinner!!! The food was amazing. The service was lovely. Highly reccomend. The only thing missing was that not being able to sit on the terrace - I’m not sure I understand why reservations are only for the inside. We asked but we could not sit on the terrace.

We managed to secure a last minute booking here for lunch and arrived promptly at 11.45 as advised, and there was a queue already. The place was fully booked, with people regularly being turned away....and you have table for 1hr,45 .. which is plenty of time because the warm and welcoming staff are incredibly efficient. The front of house./ owner was good humoured, and really charming, the waitresses inside were great with us being English and they have a menu in English if you can't figure out the French. We had between us Steak, and Pork Knuckle, no entree purely because they looked huge and we don't have large appetites. The food was delicious, well cooked, hot and good portions. The Creme Brulee was stunning! We had tea and coffee too, and we were not rushed to leave. We loved the experience and had a great time with amazing food. I highly recommend the restaurant if you can get in!

Yelp
Day trip to Colmar from Basel and decided to try out this place. We didn't make any reservations and got a table outside around noon. The waitresses spoke some English and google translate is your best friend if you have any questions on the menu. We were given two tiny balls and later realized those were complimentary food. Got the breaded Munster with smoke meats as a starter. Then two main dishes: veal's head with salad and white cabbage (sauerkraut) with smoked meats and sausages. Meats were tender but a bit too salty for me. Love the veal's head. The menu said white cabbage in white wine but it was basically sauerkraut which I'm not a fan. Service was ok.

Yelp
Definitely make reservations in advance online. When we took our table the restaurant filled up and many tried to come in but were turned away. The servers spoke some English and they had menus in English as well. I started out with the Foie Gras which in my opinion was a big serving for a single person. Back in the USA that would be a spendy dish. For my main I chose the Braised pork shank which was another big serving. The pork was tender and spiced perfectly. The Spatzelés was buttery and melted in my mouth. The Apple pie was an interesting dessert. More apples than actual pie like. I can't knock any points off because I'm unsure if this traditional to the area. All in all the meal was fantastic and I'd definitely recommend this "home cooked meal" to anyone looking for a regional meal. The restaurant ambiance is warm and inviting and a nice escape from the cold raining outside.

Yelp
The staff here is not very warm and not very accommodating for those not speaking French (1 star off). I do speak some French, but it is clear that I have an accent. Our waiter seemed annoyed to serve us, with a "not another tourist" attitude. Initially, I thought he was incapable of smiling, however, when he was serving a completely francophone customer, he is much nicer and even smiled! Aside from the service, the food was pretty good. We came for lunch, and although a little heavy or lunch, we ordered: * Braised ham hock with Pinot Noir sauce * Onion tart * Bibalakas (cured meats, Munster cheese curds, and baked potatoes with chives) * Crème brûlée The bone from the ham hock looked so nice that I wanted to take it home to make bone broth.

Yelp
Fantastic food. Great price for the quality. Three course meal was about $45 per person. The starters wowed

Yelp
Came here with a party of 5 and was refused outside seating because of "no reservation" although more than half the tables were empty. We then went on to order 4 entree and appetizer combos, as we had a small child with us. The server came back shortly and said that we would have to order another combo or entree since we had 5 people and that we could not share with the child??? Worst customer service in all of Alsace, do not come here. Furthermore, two of the members of my party got violent food poisoning a couple hours later and for the next couple of days from having the steak tartare. Unbelievable, and the Tartares were $30 . WORST restaurant in Colmar, DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
We liked this place, even though there were some problems. - It's touristy - There's a formule menu - entree + plat for like 30 EUR, which is definitely the way to go, you get a good set of choices - I ordered wrong and I'm still mad about it: for my starter I got this salad that was cold sausages, too much shredded cheese, and too much mayo - I also ordered sausage and kraut for my main and it was just okay, I had already gotten too much sausage in my first course - The Jarret de Porc - Knuckle of Ham - sounds nasty but it was the best thing anyone got, and it came with really good Spaetzle Also: - The location is excellent, right in the "Petit Venice" district, and eating on the terrace is great - Service is spotty, there was one server we didn't like, and one of the people we were dining with was an actual French (he remarked that the Alsatian accent is noticeable). Also we saw like half of the wait staff at the Three Monkeys bar later in the evening.

Yelp
I made reservations the evening before and was able to get a table for myself. I was immediately greeted and seated for my table. The service was very friendly and kind and the food was incredible. I order an Alsatian specialty coq au Riesling... since that region has such great white wines. It was so delicious and came with a side of spaetzle. I had absolutely zero complaints. The restaurant itself was quaint and small but I love that feel and the quality was great.

Yelp
The Brenner is set in the "Little Venice" portion of Colmar and has a nice outdoor patio. The menu seemed a little more interesting than at the other cloned winstubs throughout town: I had an outstanding pot au feu that I would reorder any time, and the dessert (mille-feuille with chocolate mousse) was truly sublime. Service was a little harried since they have a small wait staff, but ultimately professional and got the job done. Great choice for dining in Colmar.

Yelp
One of the best salade de tomate mozzarella di bufala!! The place is beautiful and the ambiance is amazing.

Yelp
Suggestion, research and make reservations In Colmar before the evening dinner hour or you'll get stuck like we did. I give them 1 star... Negative stars are not an option, need to discuss with Yelp. Food is fair, I would have liked to try dessert but the service was so bad I was discussed and forced them to take my money so I could get out of there. Now I am used to slow service in Europe and being left alone for conversation and enjoying the time but they were rude and seemed to just forget the English and German speaking patrons.

Yelp
My wife made reservations over a week in advance for this place. When we arrived the hostess pretended we did not have one despite my wife showing her the email confirmation from their website. The hostess still refused to honor it - becoming rude - and claimed the restaurant was full when no one was there. Luckily we found a better restaurant close by. Don't waste your time here.

Yelp
Great location and a nice patio. Food is ok but the service is a deal breaker. Lazy, rude service runs the place. On a very touristic place, the staff don't... Or don't want to speak a word of english. We had to ask the things 3 times and half of them were missed. The only thing that came fast was the bill, curiously without being asked for and before 1 dish and 1 drink not delivered. A definite no return.

Karl F.

Yelp
I would avoid this place. The wait staff were complete assholes. We wanted to sit outside and have a beer but we're told no. There was not a single person sitting outside and we couldn't sit there to have a beer?? Two employees sat smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee, too lazy to get up and sell a beer. The place next door was happy to serve us.

Yelp
Great Alsacian food in a traditional setting. We thoroughly enjoyed the setting in a classic Colmar building.

Cindy S.

Yelp
Great food. Terrible, rude service. The worst in, out of France or any other country. Avoid if you value your time.
