This charming wine bar is a true local treasure. The cozy ambiance paired with fantastic live music creates the perfect setting for a relaxing evening. They offer a wonderful selection of small-lot wines that you won’t find just anywhere, making each visit feel special. The menu is thoughtfully curated with delicious nibbles that complement the wines beautifully — ideal for sharing while you unwind with a few glasses, try the flights and charcuterie board! To top it all off, the service is exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Highly recommend for a laid-back yet memorable night out!

Came here for a Latin night with friends loved the music and the food came out quickly. The music was way too loud but it was still fun and we stood towards the back of the place. Never been here before this, it would be nice to try coming here on a normal day to hangout with friends and have a few drinks with food.

Google
Neat place with amazing coffee! I got the cold brew with oat milk and it was one of the best cold brews I’ve had! Much better than the Starbucks next door The service is awesome and the owner is so sweet!

Really love the new Witch Creek Winery experience. Did not even realize they had changed management and remodeled until happened to walk by. They have lots more wines including a wonderful blackberry mead. The sparkling chardonnay was surprisingly refreshing and the entire red flight was a nice interesting mix. Of course our server Mitchell really took our tasting experience from ok to awesome.

They share the space with the coffee shop. Nice 😊 service. Restroom on the left, requires a code. Pretty nice wine from CA.

What an incredible addition Witch Creek has been for Carlsbad! Not only do they support other local businesses but they also offer so many fun events, this place is spectacular.

Very nice place. Stopped in randomly and enjoyed beautiful live music, a great rosè, and some olives 🫒 😀 will definitely come back. Nice chill place.

Google
I really love this winery experience! It’s so fun to be wandering around Carlsbad for a little shopping and stop for a wine break at this cozy spot. The staff is very friendly and has great service! It doesn’t hurt that they share space with Sleeping Tiger Coffee, so you get that lovely smell as you do some wine tasting. Don’t forget to stop and take a photo in front of the colorful tiger mural on the corner!

Yelp
The staff was super welcoming. The food was pretty good, the pricing on the food was affordable as well. The ambiance was great. They have a pretty big selection of board games. It was pretty cool tbh. I had a flight of wine and a winemosa.

Yelp
Cam was so kind and engaging. We had a wonderful tasting experience during Happy Hour. Lots of patrons came in for a swing in glass and would be on their way. Open and easy going atmosphere. Would love to see them bring back a Franc! Farmers market selection of pizzas were a great paring with wine flight. The pesto butter with the crust of pizza was a sneaky unsuspecting delicious addition. As a tip- bring cash to pay and trip to avoid service / credit card surcharges. Plus tipping out in cash is always so appreciated! Mahalo

Yelp
I came for the funky brunch and it was chill. I don't know if it got busy later, but it was a bit empty from 11am-12:30pm. Idk if they promoted enough for the free event. I enjoyed the little spread they made. There were croissants with butter & jam, fruit, 2 different quiche, crackers, orange juice & coffee. I ordered a sparkling wine to make a winemosa with my orange juice. The DJ was playing some 90s hip hop & R&B. Some people were dressed up for the event. I just got off work so I wasn't dressed up for it. It was a nice first time visit here. I will most likely come back for the food or a cooking class.

Yelp
I was here a few years ago when I was taking a class at MiraCosta College for the beginner sommelier. I was new to wine tasting, and the instructor highly recommended this winery. We were given a tour of how wine is made, and the person giving the tour was very helpful and engaging. The tasting area was good for small groups, and the gift shop was well stocked. It's a nice ambience, and the wine is delicious and not overly priced as at some winery tasting rooms. If you have visitors from out of town, this would be a nice stop for entertaining them.

Yelp
This is a large and nice looking place. I wonder why there weren't more people here. I arrived between 8 and 9 for some drinks and live music, and we were the only couple there at the time. The guitarist was great, but the ambiance was kind of sad. Later a few more couples showed up, but they remained in the back. They have wine, beer etc.- but I didn't try any. My husband had a beer. The service was fine.

Yelp
My wife used to love this place and their wines, we came here today for her birthday and found out that everything has been turned upside down with new ownership. The wines are all different, the motif and the overall layout is completely different and geared more towards live venues. My wife ordered a wine and although the wine tender was very nice my wife was extremely disappointed with her wine coupled with the fact that all the prices have been raised significantly and the wine was not as good as before. From my wife's mouth, "time to find a different place"

Yelp
IT'S ME. - HI. - I'M THE WITCH. - IT'S ME. After the COVID era, going out in public is pretty trash now. People seem anxious and on edge. Pretty sure it's because there are a lot more witches among us (...all the quiet talk of moon circles, black flame candles, and magic crystals). Something is definitely happening... perhaps due to the great 2020 binge-watch of Charmed, Hocus Pocus, and The Good Witch. There's now a witch in every friend group. This phenomenon trends with historical precedent... in the 1600s, your only career choices were farming OR witch. These days it's not uncommon to meet a Glinda or a Celeste or Esmeralda... and they no longer wear pointy hats to identify themselves. They look normal, but if they whistle at different pitches and call out to things that don't have names... you're with a genuine conjurer of the dark arts. But there is more to the practice of the ju-ju than waving a wand, boiling up some potions, and dishing out spells with a few funny words. You want to avoid being an emotionally unavailable narcissist witch with anger issues. At the risk of being turned into a root vegetable, here are my... TOP 5 (BE-BETTER) BEST WITCH PRACTICES: (1) Lots of cooking and chopping involved... so get one of those Instant-Pot cauldrons (2) Take it down a notch. Put only subtle spells on people who annoy you: like ending their constipation right after their shower, multiple paper cuts in the exact same place, or ensuring their bath water is never quite hot enough (3) Keep your broom in good repair so you don't fly off the handle (4) Maintain a steady supply of goat blood, eyes of newt, raven's breath, and tears from virgins {_Amazon_Store_link_} (5) Move on from past transgressions. The kids who called you a witch for having green eyes? ...well the pet store does need more hamsters Pro tip: For the best tasting Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Barbera anywhere... combined with excellent service, live music, and Sleeping Tiger coffees... Witch Creek is our go-to urban winery (there's witches here but the more evolved kind).

Yelp
OMG !! Really? Teenagers hanging out playing shuffle board. They serve them mocktails. It's ridiculous. Not my idea of a relaxing winery.

Yelp
Update: the new owner reached out to me to resolve my concerns. He has been the new owner since August 2024, so it's still in its traditional period and my issues with the wine club are reflected in the previous owner's lack of communication. Turns out my wine club was marked as "pick up only" when I signed up for shipped bottles. The old team didn't make an effort to reach out when I had not picked up wine for serval months. Talk about an over site. The new owner Joel was able to resolve my problem, provided the wine I was owed and figure out why I had slipped through the cracks. No excuses, just facts and resolutions which I appreciate. I believe the wine club for everyone is going to be paused presently because I am not the only one having this issue, which is smart. The wines are good and the wine bar itself lovely, and I hope once the past owners' problems get fixed the club can resume for those who don't live in the Carlsbad area to enjoy the wine long distance. I will keep an eye out, because this winery used to be one of my favorites and I hope under new ownership can return to the glory days of how it was was when I discovered it over a decade ago.

Yelp
First time stopping here was really pleasant. The space is shared with a coffee spot but there is a lot of seating, both tables and bar seating. The guy who was working the bar was cool and friendly. They have some wines that aren't their own, but the ones that are their own, he said they source the grapes from California, mostly Lodi, Paso Robles) and the wines they don't make are also from the same California areas. I tried the Pinot noir and I enjoyed it. I think we would definitely come back here if we are in the area.

Yelp
Big wine spot with big wine guys. I enjoy myself every time I come here. They have free comedy shows, cooking classes, and other events throughout the year. Can't go wrong with the wine you choose and they have light bites like charcuterie to go along with it. Big fan!

Yelp
We recently held a private event at Witch Creek Winery. The staff was amazing and went above and beyond to make our experience great and seamless. Their food was a total hit with our party and overall we would recommend Witch Creek Winery to anyone!! Joel and his team were fantastic!! Thank you again, Witch Creek Winery!! We appreciate you!

Yelp
My bf and I stumbled on this place during our weekend in Carlsbad. The owner was so great and chatted with us. We ended up buying tickets to the Magic show event the following night and had a blast. Next time we're in Carlsbad we'll be visiting again!

Bree M.

Yelp
The wine here was disgusting. We did a good tour and they took us here for one of the stops and idk if all their wine is like this but the three wines they gave us were disgusting. I'm not picky about wine. I've had $6 wine that tastes great. This was NOT wine. It was like watered down juice. Juice would have been better. I literally thought they put water in the wine. I've never been so grossed out. All 6 of us were like wtf is this? The server said the one she gave us was her favorite but it's supposed to be served chilled....so why were we given watered down warm wine? Don't go here.

Yelp
My wife and I had a great experience at WitchCreek this afternoon during happy hour. Great glass of cab sav. Great appetizer. Excellent service. All good. One small thing to note is that I noticed that the tip calculator is adding sales tax before calculating the tip total, which seems inappropriate. Just mentioning in case that is not intentional on your part. We'll look more closely next time we visit and tip accordingly. Despite feeling that the wine glass prices were on the high side compared to our comparable experiences, and considering that it was a happy hour event, the overall experience was still very good. See you next time.

Lisa P.

Yelp
I wish I could give more than 5 stars. We had our wedding here and I simply can't say enough good things about our experience. Joel and Nick were so wonderful to work with. They took so much stress out of wedding planning and made me feel reassured and comfortable. Nick and Trisha were the staff present (we wanted a small wedding) and they did a perfect job of taking care of our guests and making sure everything ran smoothly. People are still having about the winery and how much fun they had. I highly recommend booking Witch Creek for events. You won't regret it.

Yelp
What a big beautiful place! Even has a chandelier and a stage-ish at the back. There's a coffee shop in the wine bar too. We came during when it was really hot and it was so stuffy and hot in here. Like a hot box. Unfortunately I think because of the heat some of the wines were compromised. It didn't taste good, sort of flat and vinegar tasting. We did enjoy their charcuterie board though. Maybe we'll come back in the winter when it's a little cooler.

Yelp
Came for Witch Creek's wine flight/tasting experience on a weekday off. Just a head's up...they pour other wineries' wines--nothing made in house. So if you're looking for a local winery, keep searching. According to their website, Witch Creek is SD's older urban winery! They have wine tasting options of 4 or 6 with 1-2oz pours. We opted for the 4 for $17. Unfortunately, they didn't have all of their wines available on the day we went...so a lot of the reds we wanted weren't tasted. Their flights come in little carafe's, so you can pour your own wines. I had their buttery chard (very full-bodied, smooth), rose cab (fruit-forward, nice tongue-feel), merlot (my favorite, so tasty) and tic tockitty (not memorable enough). Nothing stood out to me or my friend--enough for us to purchase any bottles. A great perk is dogs are allowed both indoors and outdoors, and our sweet winetender even asked if my pup could get a treat! We love that. We opted to sit outside in their back patio which is pretty much sun-less. If you're looking to enjoy the sun with your wine, maybe opt to sit out in front. There's load of seating so large parties can come! It's cool because you can also shop around Witch Creek--it feels very commune-y with a bunch of other trinkets, and their shared space with a cafe and a local strawberry vendor next door. We saw a wine tasting group come through and they had wines with some strawberry shortcake from the vendor next door which is nice. Support local yay! This is just for management...but on Yelp if we check in there's a deal for a discount from your $15 tasting--but I think it's outdated since the tastings run from $17-$32. Maybe it's time to discontinue that check-in deal? We enjoyed a great catchup session here with a laid-back vibe, but as two former winery/hospitality workers, we were kind of bummed that Witch Creek didn't have their own wines...and instead they sourced from wineries outside of the greater San Diego region (like Paso Robles for example). It was a quaint little experience, but that's pretty much it for me.

Yelp
Sadly we spent a good chunk of money there. Closed out with a nice tip. Decided to stay a little longer for the live music,we cashed out and again, tipped a nice amount only to be chased down and accused of not paying our tab. Cleared once they realized we did pay.

Yelp
The staff were amazing and friendly. Very knowledgeable on drinks. Loved her. Ames was super nice and friendly. Very accommodating with my disability and powerchair. The live music vibe was great. A fantastic place to chill and listen to music. I do wish the service wasn't slow in the kitchen area. Took forever to get our food.

Eric M.

Yelp
My wife and I had a great time at the winery. Our waiter Nicholas was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines at your winery.

Yelp
The name is a bit misleading. My friends and I were expecting an actual winery. Lol, I'm from sacramento so we're super close to wine country and often going wine tasting in Sonoma and Napa. So I guess we were expecting a similar environment. Well, it's actually more like a wine bar. They've got seating at the bar, throughout the building and a patio area too. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Their tastings are set for one glass at a time instead of a whole flight at once. So we opted for a flight of 6, but after we each had a glass we were done (we had one too many mimosas at brunch) hahaha luckily, the staff were kind enough to let us end our tasting there and we were charged for one tasting instead of six. We also ordered the charcuterie which was okay. For the most part all we ate was the bread and Brie. The meat had a weird taste and we weren't fans of the other cheeses. The vibe is great and the staff are awesome!

Yelp
If you're into wines... This is a perfect winery to checkout... we recently became wine members because the membership is such a good deal. I dont mean to sound like a commercial but for $45 you get 2 bottles a month, 20% off food and wine, complimentary rental on the outside patio, a glass of wine for you and a guest once a week. Food and wine wise- they wines here are pretty good. Food is just appetizers but it's a wine spot. And they have amazing food spot near buy. The cheeses and breads here are good though. Ambience- they have live music on Fridays and it's so chill Service wise- they are way friendly and helpful with picking out a nice glass or bottle Price- well worth it. We are now regulars Overall- if you're looking for a chill date night near the beach where you can get dinner and have a nice stroll this is the spot..

Yelp
I attended a fund raiser @ the winery. So fun. Employees are extremely nice & make your visit vey pleasant. Decor is is vintage eclectic & for sale. Reasonably priced. Food is good. Perfect place for a fun live entertainment night out... Definitely will go again. Witch Creek winery love your vibe.

Yelp
Love this place! The atmosphere is so cute, romantic, and winery all at the same time. I lovvvvvve the staff! They are all so fun, and welcoming. Jason is the life of the party, but really knows his shit! If your looking for tasty wine, a good time, and great company... this is your place! Not mention they have coffee too! AMAZING coffee at that. I'm a new member of the wine club which is absolutely unbeatable, so I highly recommend for wine lovers, Carlsbad visitors, and north county peoples alike! Cheers to being a part of the Cellar club!

Yelp
Very charming. Eclectic decor. 3 taste flight, not all to my taste, but interesting. Didn't try any food, but I'd love to go back & do so

Yelp
Such a nostalgic and cozy cafe! They have wine tasting on one side and coffee on the other. I came in on Sunday afternoon and the baristas were super friendly and welcoming. I wandered outside to the patio and I assume the manager or owner was out there just as friendly. He opened up the garden shed. Everything is so cute and picture perfect for content. I had a plain black iced coffee for $3.25. It was strong and flavorful! If you're in the area, please consider coming here rather than Starbucks next door. Highly recommend.

Joan C.

Yelp
Friendly service, good wine and quirky vibe. I really liked the Merlot. We look forward to coming back soon.

Jim D.

Yelp
Nice choice of good quality wine. Very good reds & white wine. Friendly staff and relaxing space to enjoy your wine, music & conversation.
google avatar

Duck D.

Yelp
Really large, cool place, very eclectic inside. I subtract a star because they require a code for the bathroom which is obnoxious but other than that I would definitely recommend the place. They have quite decent espressos at the coffee place and the wine here is very tasty and the proprietor is quite nice.
google avatar

Alan B.

Yelp
While waiting for my friends to arrive in Calsbad, I wandered into the Witch Creek Winery. Their website says that the "Witch Creek Winery is San Diego's oldest Urban Winery originally founded in 1993 and then relocated to Carlsbad in 1996. We pride ourselves in making easy drinking, high quality wines that range from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to Teroldego and Barbera." They offer a six glass (1 ounce pour) wine tasting for $12, plus some light snacks, like cheese plates, etc. Note that I used my Yelp Check In and received 20% off the wine tasting. I tried the wine tasting and the cheese plate, and found it to be a very pleasant time and venue. The Sangiovese was my clear favorite, as I tried one white and five reds. They also offer bottles, a wine club and have a coffee cafe across from the wine tasting bar. Later in the day, they had live music, which rolled out as my friends arrived. The service was good and I'd be happy to return here.
google avatar

Brianna B.

Yelp
Love the vibe of Witch Creek Winery! Cute eclectic little place to taste wine and grab coffee. We were out with friends of ours and stopped by to sample the goods after brunch- they had a nice variety to their tasting list and the pours were generous. The ladies behind the bar were very sweet and offered details on our wine samples. We never felt rushed despite only doing the tasting. Unfortunately we didn't stay long since the husbands aren't huge on wine, but us girls would definitely come back for an afternoon on the town. Do yourselves a favor and check this place out! They even had live music in the courtyard.
google avatar

Anne S.

Yelp
I had orange jasmine tea with honey Saturday night with live music. The music was great. It's a winery, and the bartender opened up the coffee/tea area on site for us. Great service!
google avatar

Elle C.

Yelp
After seeing this winery on the corner for so long, decided to give it a visit. Interesting layout having a combination winery and coffee shop, as well as an area for live music in the back. The winery side has a pleasant atmosphere, offering an L-shaped bartop and a few counter-height tables. Their $12 tasting fee allows six 1-oz. pours of your choice off their menu (a Yelp check-in = $2 off a tasting fee; in addition, a purchase of 2 bottles waived 1 tasting fee). Autumn's friendliness, information provided, and energy definitely made our visit fun and enjoyable (so glad we got to finish our tastings with her!)!
google avatar

Melinda G.

Yelp
We stopped in on a Thursday evening and wow, we had a great time! Delicious wine, amazing ambiance and cool vibe inside, and we LOVED the jazz guy Steve! His tunes were awesome and really completed the whole experience. Such a fun date night spot or with friends or your family or whoever! We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Yelp
A surprising little find in Carlsbad with some truly good wines! My wife and I rejoined their wine club earlier this year and today was our first visit since the second COVID-19 reopening. We were very pleased that all the COVID-19 safety protocols were being followed to the letter. Jason did a terrific job looking after us while we sampled their wines. It has been a while since we had visited due to the great debacle so we walked out with a case of various wines. If you find yourself in Carlsbad and want some fairly nice wines, stop in and enjoy. Looking forward to our next visit!
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Great local place in Carlsbad, right near downtown. Wine tasting in good, like the whites and nice reds. They have music Thursday though Saturday. Lot of the grapes come from Lodi and it is a local Urban winery.

Russ K.

Yelp
We stopped in last night for a glass of wine. Two things to (negatively) comment about. First, I know Carlsbad is a dog-friendly town, but they don't belong in some places. Especially when you see all the servers stopping to pet them. Then they return to the kitchen or bar to continue serving people. Did they bother to wash their hands? Not that I ever saw! Second, the wine is good, but is it $14-16 good per glass? Definitely not.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
I cancelled my membership tonight. Walked in to have wine with a friend. Was scoffingly informed that last call had already happened nearly an hour early. Chairs already up. No apologies. Or regrets for inconvenience. Just irreverence and attitude. When reminded hours posted are until 10, it was replied with, not tonight. And that The Compass bar was open. Nice, they're recommending other establishments! Well, I don't pay for perks in other places! I left after choice words. Yes, I chose them. I then walked back in and cancelled my monthly subscription. Isn't it proper practice to follow open/close hours? Apparently not here. The "Witchcreek" hour is whenever they feel like it.
google avatar

Michele B.

Yelp
Some good wines nice tasting beautiful Charcuterie board. Very nice friendly staff we had a wonderful time.

Julie B.

Yelp
Loved the place so much that I joined the Cellar Club to receive wine in Nebraska. Joined in March for shipments to begin in April. Heading into August and have not received any wine. Made calls and sent a friend to check on the problem. Basically no return phone call to fix the problem. Not sure what the disconnect is because it's a "Best Of" location and they seem to have a great following for their wines. Would Love some help and would love to receive my 8 bottles of wine. Still hoping for Help...!!

Yelp
Wow! Witch Creek Winery has unprofessional management! I would think business management would hire professional managers it's such a great looking place. Witch Creek Winery needs to work on training their employees. Their customers service is awful. Unbelievable how Witch Creek Winery Manager is able to be dishonest as well. I should have a talk face-to-face with the manager; I don't think he remember me coming in. But to be creating a dramatic story of me being hammered is very tacky. I have proof that I went to Witch Creek Winery sober and left with no alcohol in my system. Witch Creek Winery manager needs proof please let me know. So I may meet you in person.

Yelp
Great local wine tasting location! Quaint atmosphere to enjoy your low key, quiet time with friendly staff. The wines are great (side dishes too)! Bought some to bring home. Love their black cat theme too.

Yelp
Came here as we were looking up things to do in Carlsbad! They even have a check-in discount for wine tasting. You get 6 tastings for $10 what a steal! They also had a live pianist playing the top 40s which made it such a pleasant place to sit and enjoy wine. The decor is minimal. They share the space with a coffee shop. You can tell they tried to be fancy by putting in one nice chandelier but that's it. We had the Mediterranean plate to share for $15. It had an assortment of fresh veggies, olives, hummus, artichoke, and pita. It was a good thing to snack and share. Onto the wine, we tried all 5 reds and she threw in another red blend based on our preference and taste buds. The service was attentive and great. They always came by right when we finished and was ready to explain the next despite not sitting at the bar. We would definitely come back if we are eve in Carlsbad again.

Yelp
I just had the Hawaiian soft pour and that was amazing, such a cute little place. Would love to come back for wine. Love all the antiques and atmosphere.

Yelp
We stopped in today to enjoy a tasting at Witch Creek Winery tasting room. We aren't wine connoisseurs, but we know what we like when we taste it and we enjoy a couple of hours sampling the local flavors. We called ahead to make sure they allowed small pets and we were enthusiastically encouraged to bring our fur baby. The tasting is 6 tastes for $10. Yes you read that right. $10. That's pretty generous from our experiences. Being a Tuesday afternoon we were surprised to not be the only people at the tasting bar. It wasn't crowded but there was a nice energy level. The tasting room also has a coffee bar and a piano. A gentlemen strolled in and played for a short 10 minute set, pleasantly adding to the atmosphere. Lani was our tasting host and was exceptionally warm, friendly, and knowledgable. She loved our elder puppy and gushed over him nearly as much as we do. We were surprised to like one of the reds (a Cabernet with peppery notes) the most, since we prefer whites to reds. We also opted for the Port tasting and are glad we did. Especially for a domestic port, it was truly exceptional.

Yelp
Super laid back wine tasting experience here with a wide variety of choices from sparkling white to zinfandel with even some dessert wines, meads and ciders thrown in to please everyone and what I loved is that you choose your wines to taste. They are very generous in that way and allowing you yo try their menu. The wines were average IMO but for this mom traveling alone with her kids and wanting a bottle for the evenings, they were very nice and accomodating. I saw a pup too at one point. The venue has a great gothic/antique theme without being over the top and actually very fun for October with casks in the corner. The pourer doing the tasting, Nick, was very nice allowing me to try a variety of new wines I might not have otherwise tried. He did a great job balancing his bar with the numerous tasters and made sure I enjoyed my tasting. I walked away with the sparkling chardonnay, blackberry mead, and a nice cabernet and for cali, they were on the moderate to high price spectrum. Thank you for helping to start off this much needed family vacation on the right foot. They source their grapes from all over California including Napa and their sweet wines/ciders are from Oregon. A nice low key tasting if you're in Legoland and want a little adult fun too.

Yelp
my girlfriend and I walked in and there was 1 customer and then 1 man working there. The customer walked out and then the grumpy 52 year old baseball dad looking guy didn't say a word to us. kinda awkward, but I was like "hey man", he just looked at me and said "hi". We continued to look around and wanted to inquire about some wine tasting but it was kinda obvious he didn't care for us. So I said, "it's our first time in here, we wanted to check this place out" he goes,.."oook"? like, what do you want?? so we just left. we planned on having a little tasting and prob woulda bought a bottle or 3 like we usually do when we go wine tasting. Plus, we live here!! We walked to this off-putting place from her apt 4 blocks away. I wish I woulda called him a prick, very snooty experience. we'll check out the other wine bars next time. Thanks for making us feel like shit dickhead.
