IGNORE ANY REVIEWS PRIOR TO NOVEMBER 2022. THIS BAR HAS NEW MANAGEMENT
This is a long review. The bottom line is that this bar is now poorly run. The food isn't as good, the Hip Hop music extremely loud, and the staff (one person in particular) is unfriendly. Nothing seems to run smoothly.
This neighborhood institution is a shadow of what it once was. Everyone loved Witt's Inn. We used to have events and week night happy hours. These were well attended. That won't be happening again
I had a poor experience on both recent visits to the bar. Both were pizza pick ups. What could go wrong, right?
The first time I visited, the bar was almost empty. I made eye contact, and waved to the bartender when I arrived. She was deep in conversation, with another employee. I figured that it might be a management meeting or something. So I took a seat, and waited. Both employees actively ignored me. Glancing over a couple of times. After about ten minutes, I got up to leave. The bartender (the one with strange hair, one side blond, the other brown) finally came over to see what I needed. She was openly annoyed. Weird. I told her, and she came back with my now room temperature pizza. I didn't say anything, but I left pretty annoyed myself.
I withheld writing a review. New owners, and one unfriendly employee. I didn't want to trash them. So I let it go. Give them some time to pull it together.
Second visit.
I was watching LSU women's Elite Eight game, with my family. I tried to call in a pizza order by phone, but no one was picking up.
Their web site said that their preferred ordering platform was the Slice app. So I downloaded the app, and placed my order. I tried to time it for a half time pick up. I was texted that the pizza would be ready at 7:07 PM. Perfect timing. I headed over.
The two toned hair bartender was there, and seemed to again be in a foul mood. I avoided her. I grabbed the other bartender, (a very nice young African American women) to let her know that I was there for my pick up. While she checked, I receive a text that my pizza was ready.
I passed the time by counting how many times F*** was said on the blasting sound system.
After about ten minutes, there seemed to be an issue. The young woman came out, and said they were confused. She said something about it being the fault of a new cook, and then something wrong in the app. But told me that all was okay. As she walked away, I asked if they had even started making it. She kept walking.
So was it the app? Was it the "new cook"? Was it all a lie?
After hanging out for another half hour, I gave up. I canceled on the app. The nice young woman had left by now, so told the Two Tone woman that I was canceling, and why. She shrugged dismissively, and said "it sounds like you arrived when I did"
No apology, no explanation. She seemed annoyed, and she didn't want to hear it. So I went home.
I missed watching almost the entire second half with my family. All told, I was out of my home for about an hour. And came back without a pizza. So I ordered one from restaurant across the street and picked it up after the game. Simple.
Never again. This place is so disorganized. I don't think it will last. There weren't that many folks there. It shouldn't have so difficult.
And the attitude of the two tone bartender is a little puzzling. My wife and I are nice people. We try to be kind to everyone. But this woman doesn't seem to realize that she is in the "hospitality" industry. I haven't experienced this kind of angst since my daughters were young teens. But at least they grew out of it.
The new management has to realize that the wait staff is the face of your business. Some people in New Orleans will even follow a favorite bartender from bar to bar. What affect is her nasty attitude having on your business? It can't be helpful.
Since the new ownership, there have been only a few reviews. Several with one star, and more with two or three. Two mention staff. Another mentions this same particular bartender. Coincidence?
