On this occasion we only had Guinness (reasonably priced) as well as the black garlic hummus, which as absolutely delicious! Lovely atmosphere and very nice staff. I'm only knocking a star because of the service charge of 10% was applied to the bill by default, forcing you to ask for it to be taken off should you not want to tip. Tipping should be an opt in situation, otherwise just add it to the food price. Will definitely be back again to try different meals! Certainly recommend going there!

So disappointed at the changes at The Wiveton Bell. Service was ok , food not so great . Burger and chips was £19 but the burger had no flavour and was very small compared with the past visits before chestnut group took over . Risotto was same price and served on a plate rather than a bowl , it was not too bad but only just warm and a small portion . The atmosphere has changed unfortunately too. We’ve been many times in the past and loved it . New changes are not for the better in my opinion. Couldn’t recommend to anyone .

First stay at the wiveton bell..booked this for a special occasion wedding anniversary. Was more than we would normally pay for a room but thought would be worth it for the occasion. The whole bar area and restaurant was very nice ,our main meal was nice but our room was very very poor for the price. We stayed in the white room .If we hadn't already paid in advance would definitely have asked for a discount. Mould in shower,on bath mat and on front door blind. Was very poor and very much not worth the money we paid .Some very nice staff and a nice setting but room very much let it down to say the least. We ate at the pub and I had a faint recollection of the service being poor from the few years ago I had been there. Again, the service was very poor. We were told we needed to wait 20 minutes till we could be seated as a table or 9 was waiting on their food- we were fine with this. When we were seated, she left us with the menus and after no one had come back for 10/15 minutes to take our order, we had to call someone over to have our order taken. Our food then took 40 minutes to come to us. Food was very lovely- no complaints there, although maybe slight overpriced. After we had finished, no one came to take our plates or give us a dessert menu, again we had to get someone’s attention to do this. After asking for the bill, we ended up having to walk to the front to pay as again, no one came to take payment. Just poor service attention, everything took time - shame as the food is very good and the staff were nice people.

We have been regular visitors to the Wiveton Bell for a number of years. We have always had excellent service & food & have often recommended it to family/friends. We went today & although the food was good the service ( if you could call it that ) was poor at best. The young guy was fine & was clearly a junior staff member but the female that was first to engage with us was offhand, disinterested & poorly trained. If she is front of house you have problems as customers won’t be back & neither will we.

A special dinner out to celebrate whilst on holiday. We liked the pub layout its ambience and decor. We went through to the bar to have a drink before our dinner and asked for a cocktail. The bar attendant told me three she could do but nothing I reliahed so.asked for a dry rose. A lovely glass of Sancerre but goodness when our bill came and we saw the price we were shocked £13.85. A completely unacceptable price. The beers not well kept as they went flat quickly were £5.50. A group of four sat in frint if the bar almost blocking access. No apology no willingness to move was not a good start. Our meal was underwhelming. Starters were fine the crab beignet and the black garlic with flat bread. However my husbands burger and chips at £19 was tough. How can a burger be tough. The meat looked grey. The chips were delicious but no side salad or veg just a little salad in the roll. My watercress and goats cheese risotto was relatively bland had it not been for the five pieces of goats cheese scatteted on top. The risotto sat in the middle of a large plate congealing around the edges and it was quite stodgy. No slippery shiny smooth risotto gracing my plate sadly. The gentleman taking our order enteted into conversation after we ate but no mention of the meal we tad eaten. How odd not to want feedback. We would not return or recommend sadly

We're on a bike tour, with one e-bike, one normal. We asked if we could charge the battery, with a normal plug, but they refused, "because of health and safety, manager's decision." Must be a very safety conscious pub, first time this had happened to us in two years e-bike touring. I guess you're supposed to arrive here in at least a Audi Q7.

It was a bit of a mixed bag for us really. We went for an early supper at 6pm and we all enjoyed our main courses very much. When we arrived, the service was great. Then it started to get busy and there was a long wait for our desserts, which weren't quite so good. My daughter ordered scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream. Essentially it was served as a whole scone with a little bit of jam and cream plonked on the top, making it hard to eat with a spoon and fork and very dry past the top part. I ordered dognuts with rhubarb and custard, which I thought sounded different. They certainly were! There were 2, quite dry donuts with very little custard inside and an undercooked tiny strip of rhubarb on the top. Very dry and they tasted a bit like they may have been cooked with fish! Overall. Expensive desserts (£9 each) for what they were and very disappointing. We expected better quality considering how good thr main courses were. We weren't asked at the end of the meal or when we paid our bill if everything was OK, so we just paid and left. Seemed like service might be better when less busy possibly.

Yelp
Visited as part of a large and free-spending group of mum's and dads in the area for a 40th. The menu read promisingly, but a number of items proved a disappointment- for example, the lobster croquet on the special was pretty unspectacular ( £7 ) , visibly containing lobster ( good so far) but basically tasting of herby mash not shellfish ( the end effect being supermarket fish cake) . Burgers were solid - a bit too solid, truth be told, and could usefully have been lightened with a bit of onion to make them more friable and less like a hockey puck. Caesar salad was pronounced good. Fish and chips ( haddock or plaice as I recall) looked pretty good. Didn't much like the evil looks we got from the waiting staff, having had to wait a while for some members of the party.

Yelp
Me and my fiancée went here tonight for her birthday, all I can say is that it was well worth the 30min drive!! I won a voucher for a meal for 2, and was blown away by the friendliness of the staff, and the quality of the food. The starters were prepared to perfection (the haddock/prawn fish cakes were amazing). The steak for my main was cooked exactly as ordered (medium) and melted in the mouth, and the accompanying peppercorn sauce was delightful. For desert the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was warm, moist and very sweet but not too sickly!! Perfect! I would highly recommend going here, I plan on coming back but will also bring my family and my fiancées family when they visit from London. Well deserved 5 stars.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Norfolk. The food is very good and excellent value for money, the place itself is in the country side and has a nice outdoor seating area. The staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a great experience. All the ingredients are locally sourced, had both the cod and the pork belly which were delicious.

Yelp
My wife and i have recently returned from holiday in Norfolk, for a change we went to the bell for the first time, we were very glad that we did The food was excellant as was the service even though it was a busy lunchtime the staff were very attentive and he resturant was light and airy. The prices were reasonable and for a change from many pubs these days there were not lots of children running riot, perhaps we were just lucky. I wish that we could go back to the old days when children under 14 were not allowed into pubs but we can't unfortunately. I would advise all people that enjoy good food to try this place out and i would highly reccomend the sea bass

Yelp
Had 2 meals last week at The Bell. Affordable prices and decent Yetmans Ale as well. There is no problem if you just want to go in for a pint or two either, unlike some pubs you dont feel obliged to eat A better pub than some of its competitors.
