"Fast-casual vegan restaurant Wiz Kid has closed. Owners Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby merged the location with neighboring (also vegan) restaurant V Street three months ago, Philly.com reports, primarily out of necessity. Wiz Kid opened in 2017, and quickly garnered critical acclaim (and an Eater Award for best fast-casual restaurant of the year in 2017)." - Audrey Carleton

"There’s also plans to potentially ship down experimental sandwich shop Wiz Kid from Philly as well: It’s a 'definite possibility' the fast-casual sibling will make an appearance in D.C. in some form or fashion, says Landau." - Tierney Plumb

I had the privilege to indulge in their WK Philly, KFT, and Wiz Fries (cheese fries). They’re an all vegan establishment with beer too! I’ve been searching for the best vegan cheese steak, and I’m happy to tell you, this is it. I’m mad I ever went anywhere else! My mouth was just nonstop watering. I live in MD and I even ordered to go because I didn’t want to leave without some magic. The KFT was so flavorful and one bite in, I knew I didn’t want to stop. My goodness 10/10. I’m making this a must stop for the rest of my life.

First visit to this restaurant and the customer service was good, food arrived quickly and the decor was trendy. I ordered the KFT ($10) and it was ok. I'd give it a solid B. The sauce was a little excessive causing the sandwich to be extremely messy. Only forks were on display, so I guess you'd have to ask for a knife if you want to eat and look civilized. I'd also suggest getting the sauce on the side. I will visit again to try something else.

I am a huge fan of the other vegan restaurant their owners own, so I was excited to try their take on fast food and drinks. I love that it's much more casual and like a open minded take on your traditional fast food venues. The food was pretty good- even the plain fries I had! I want to go back to try their drinks and I can't wait to try their main courses. It's a great relaxing place to grab a vegan cheese steak or fries on the run.

It was ok. A little on the salty side for me but the service was quick and friendly. I wouldn't bring a group here. I want to try other stuff on the menu before I totally write it off but there are better vegan cheesesteaks in the city.

The service was excellent! The ladies were kind behind the counter. Small restaurant and bathroom is on the other side in the neighboring restaurant. The food tasted great! I was so happy to find a vegan restaurant! I had the WK philly, fries, and ice cream...ALL VEGAN!! Costly, of course, just as most vegan restaurants but worth it!

Vegan Cheesesteak!?! I just had to try it (along with some cheese fries) and I was not disappointed. Sure, it’s not as healthy as a kale salad, but that’s not the goal. Even the vegan ice cream is delicious (try the cookies and cream). The friendly staff is icing on the cake. I will return and I loved it so much I even bought a shirt.

I REALLY wanted to like this place. Any vegan restaurant has a soft spot in my heart because they are going against the grain. Sadly, I was disappointed with what I purchased. The Philly Cheesesteak was extremely salty and had too much cracked pepper, I couldn't finish it. The Yucatan bowl, which sounded absolutely delicious on the menu but was mainly lettuce and beans. I had a few pieces of tiny zucchini and what seemed to be a total of one tiny cauliflower floret crumbled over the top. I don't know where the dressing went because I didn't even taste it. I would have rather paid more to get something of quality and substance. Hopefully they can improve their menu.

We split the Philly cheesesteak and wiz fries. It was really tasty, but glad we split it all. It’s super filling and the steak was a tad bit too salty. That wiz though! Best I’ve had thus far. I’m glad we were able to stop here while in Philly for the day. Ps. Trying to take pictures of this food really doesn’t help. It doesn’t look the best, but it does hit the spot if you have a craving.
