Wok Chi Asian Kitchen 鑊氣 - West Midtown/Georgia Tech

We visited this restaurant twice during our trip, and the experiences were completely different each time. On our first visit, we were helped by a young man who provided outstanding service. He did everything he could to make us feel welcome, kept a positive attitude, and genuinely worked to ensure we were happy with our meals. If anything seemed off, he addressed it immediately and made sure it was corrected. That experience alone left such a strong impression that it’s the reason we decided to return a second time—and even brought a larger group with us. Our second visit, however, was much more complicated. We had a group of five people, and while that isn’t excessively large, we were surprised to see an automatic gratuity added to the bill without being informed ahead of time. Since everyone in our group was paying separately, we would have simply split into smaller checks had we known. Even after a few people in our group raised concerns and asked questions about the bill, the situation was not clearly explained or resolved in a helpful way. Another issue arose when the food arrived. There were a few items that certain people at the table could not eat or did not like. When we asked about returning or exchanging those items, our waitress said she did not want to take them back to the kitchen because she didn’t want to get in trouble. As a result, we ended up paying for food that was not eaten, not taken home, and ultimately just sat on the table. I’m not sure if this was due to internal pressure about food waste or a lack of willingness to help, but it was frustrating—especially since we had paid extra for some of those items. Additionally, during the second visit, our waitress was not very familiar with the menu. A couple of people in our group had dietary restrictions, and she frequently had to go back to the kitchen to ask someone else for clarification. To be fair, she was still polite and kind throughout the experience, and all of the food came out very quickly. As for the food itself—it was excellent both times. The fried rice from our first visit was amazing. On the second visit, the glass noodles were tremendously good, and the fried chicken was spectacular—very juicy and full of flavor. Aside from the items we couldn’t eat, the quality of the food was consistently impressive. Would I recommend going back? That’s honestly a tough call. If the service matched our first visit, I would absolutely recommend this place without hesitation—that experience alone was a 10 out of 10 and the reason we returned. If the service mirrored our second visit, however, I would not recommend it. Ultimately, it depends on what you value most. If service is very important to you, your experience may vary. If you are primarily focused on the food, then it’s worth visiting—the food is genuinely excellent. Go for the food, not the service, and hope you get a great server that day. If I were to average both visits together, I would rate the service at about 75%. If I were judging solely on the first visit, it would be 100% without question. As for the food, it earns a solid 100%, excluding the items we couldn’t eat—not because they were bad, but because they were never consumed despite still being charged. Overall, this place has incredible food but inconsistent service, and that inconsistency ultimately defines the experience.

I came to Wokchi tonight and this is the best food by far. Truly exceeded my expectations!! I had the chicken with Broccoli and I tried the General Tso’s Chicken plate they both come with jasmine rice or fried rice, I went ahead with the fried rice and everything I’ve tried here is 10 out of 10 Recommend! AND the food came out super fast, they don’t skip on the sauce and I’m personally a sauce Queen honey, each plate is Deliciosa. Come check it out!!

As someone who has worked food/beverage/hospitality for years, I have never seen a restaurant more busy in my life than Wok Chi was yesterday on Christmas Day for dinner. I checked Door Dash earlier in the day and the expected wait time for food was 9 minutes. Later that evening when I went to place an order, it was up to an hour. In person, upon arrival, every seat in the restaurant was filled by someone waiting for take out, the people at the front had a phone on each ear fielding calls, and from where I was sitting I could see the kitchen and the tickets made it look like a scene from The Bear. I had never had Wok Chi before, and based on the volume of people coming in to pick up shipping box loads of food for their dinner that night, I knew I was in for a treat. About 15 minutes past my expected pick up time (I was shocked it was only slightly delayed based on how many orders were coming in) my food came out and the bag was hot to the touch, FRESH out the kitchen. The people at the front tossed me an icy cold soda out of the cooler and sent me on my way. The bag was still steaming by the time I got home. I got the sesame tofu and white rice, my husband got the beef on a stick, short ribs, crab rangoon, and fried rice. Not pictured was the broccoli that came with my tofu, the taste and texture was as if it had just been chopped off the head of broccoli - it was that fresh. The tofu was also not oily or spongey, it was firm with a crispy layer on the outside. The sesame sauce was sticky, sweet, and spicy. My husband’s food also must have been good, because he finished it in the 15 minutes before our show was scheduled to come on. Suffice to say, the gamble on a new to me place paid off - it really was a treat. I’m excited to try Wok Chi again sometime soon, and would recommend it to anyone who loves the taste of classic Chinese takeout, but wants a fresher and more high quality product.

Ordered delivery and it was great, as always! Salt and pepper calamari is amazing!! I also love their chicken with broccoli and house made hot mustard! Best Chinese takeout in Midtown!

If you’re looking for a late-night spot in West Midtown with solid vegan options, Wok Chi is the place! This little gem is so cute and offers some seriously tasty food. I tried the General Tso tofu with fried rice, and I absolutely loved the kick it had. I also ordered the vegan dumplings, which were pan-fried. They were good, but I wasn’t completely sold on the garlic soy sauce that came with it. The sauce portions are only available in large, which is a bit much, but that’s a minor thing.If you're in the mood for a drink, the Lychee Martini at Wok Chi is a must-try—it's sweet, refreshing, and the perfect complement to any meal! What I really appreciated is that everything is made in-house and to order, which gives it such a fresh and authentic vibe. You can tell they really care about quality. The service was decent, though I wouldn’t say the staff was particularly eager. Still, the food made up for it, and I’ll definitely be back—especially for that General Tso tofu!

I visit Atlanta often for work from Texas and must always have to stop and dine here. The food is absolutely delicious, made fresh to order, the service is great and atmosphere is amazing. My favorite is General Tso Beef and Chicken. Highly recommend.

I like the fact that they stay open late with decent speed. The cabbage with chili oil is too oily. I prefer the bok choy. Wings tasty but the sauce is strong. Lo mein is good too. Oh yea, this a cool spot! Food is very appropriate. Nothing was over seasoned, I can see someone maybe wanting more sodium but I thought it was very fresh and made me feel good eating it. Everyone was nice and the light is a good mood. The restrooms are nice. They take a little while for the food to come, but it’s fresh and I like that, especially the soups and vegetables, I tried the scallion pancake, which was interesting because I’ve never heard of that. It was very crispy and presents well, and I thought it would be filled with more scallions. I feel like it was mostly a batter with sprinkles of scallion. Again it was tasty and didn’t taste like an onion and I’d order it again, but I really wish it was filled with more noticeable scallions. Everything was delicious and the place got packed really quick even though at first it looked like it was an empty spot with no customers. It appears they get a lot of DoorDash orders so I’m the one behind. I’d recommend this place .

I was in the area for a friend's birthday and I was hungryyyyyyyyy. As I was heading to my car I passed Wok Chi. Their QR menu was on the window so I scanned it. After taking a scroll I decided to place an order. Walking in, the restaurant is very clean and made great use of the space. The bar is directly in front of you and the tables are to your right. It’s very cute with a simple design and a few eye-catching placements throughout the area. I walked up to the ordering area and was immediately greeted. The young lady was very pleasant and welcoming. I placed my order for 6 Wings, Thai Chili, with Pork Fried Rice, paid and took a seat at the bar to wait on my food. The ambiance is very chill. The music was at a perfect volume as I was still able to hear my conversation, the staff was laughing and engaging with one another, and the bar seats were super comfortable. My food arrived and was super fresh. As I placed my order to go, I was excited that I could smell my food through the container. Opening my container, the visual appeal was nice. The plate was well packed and the portion size was perfect for the price point of the meal. Now… the Food! The wings were amazing. Though they were light in color, they were crispy on the outside and juicy and hot on the inside. The flavor profile of the Thai Chili sat well on the fresh wings. The sweetness wasn’t too sweet and put me in the mind of a honey glaze. The chili flakes were present but not too spicy. There were some good wings. I would definitely come back for more. The rice was a bit too eggy for me. I’m accustomed to egg being in fried rice, however, the eggs overpowered the rice and pork. After two bites I was unable to adjust to the over-powering egg presence and decided not to eat the rice. All in all, I’ll be back for the wings.

yum! i was searching for a late night option in west midtown that offered vegan options. this was the perfect choice. such a cute spot with some delicious food. i had the general tso tofu with fried rice. i loooved the kick it has to it. also ordered the vegan dumplings pan fried which was good but i wasn't head over heels for the garlic soy sauce they served with it and you can only order large sauce portions. the beautiful thing i learned is everything's made in house and made to order. very authentic and very fresh. love that. service was decent too. but i wouldn't say they were eager to serve anyone. still, the verdict is i would def go back. specifically for the general tso tofu

Love the late night availability but this is what I expect in a city as large as Atlanta. Tons of authentic options on the menu. I recommend anything fish, you won't find a similar operation outside of this cuisine. Out of this world really. If you're choosing to dine in, there's a paid parking deck around the corner and Wok Chi validates so a nice win there. There's enough space in the restaurant for group seating but it is first come first served, no reservations here. I recommend starting with several dim sum options to get the ball rolling and pair it with a hot tea. Then once you've gotten your beak wet, transition to some larger plates and pair it with an Asian lager. Match made in heaven...

The garlic broccoli dish here is absolutely scrumptious. It is so good. I am addicted to it. I don't know what sauce they use on it, but it is so good. Definitely recommend.

This used to be my go-to, but I got lettuce that was so rotted I thought it was meat :( don't know if I will give them another chance it was so gross!!!

My boyfriend got take out from here and we loved it. He especially loved the egg soup he ordered. I got lo mein with chicken, and I appreciated that they were able to take the vegetables out.

Great food !! We had - chicken fried rice - so good, lots of chicken, good flavor Hot and sour soup - nice and spicy, and it came with the best crispy noodles Pad Thai with tofu - traditional pad Thai flavor and lots of tofu and bean sprouts. Perfect flavor Szechuan chicken - flavorful and just enough spice. Great value for the price. Very good price for the quality and taste of the food We had our food delivered at 9:30pm. It arrive hot and fresh and they sent soy sauce packets and plastic utensils. I will order from Wok Chi next time I am in Atlanta

This is a good late night food option. We went on a Friday looking for somewhere open late. The place was clean and they validated parking. No bells and whistle. Just normal restaurant with tables and booths. The service was good for the most part. The biggest issue we had was someone's food not coming til when the rest of us were finished. We had to go up to the waitress to find out what happened. It was just shrimp fried rice. The best thing was the crab Rangoon! They definitely make them fresh. I have the crispy fish and it was full of flavor. I got the side of fried rice and it was so horrible. No veggies. I mean can I get come peas and carrot in it. I was hard and bland. I would go back to try a few other options on the menu.

This was my first time here at this establishment...it was recommended from one of my coaches on my coaching staff...I walked in an it was very clean and spacious....they have great customer service and the vibe was perfect...with great music....the food was great....i ordered the chicken fried rice with garlic wings and extra duck sauce lol....i will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu an dine in next time.....

Walked in and was a bit confused at first on if we seat ourselves or wait for someone to seat us. We ended up seating ourselves which wasn't a big deal. The service was good. The food was also pretty good. My favorite meal was the Kung Pao Shrimp, it had a lot of kick so be prepared for spice.

It was a cold rainy Friday night so take out was a good idea. We ordered: - fried rice - white rice - shrimp lo mein - orange chicken - egg drop soup - crab Rangoon's We ended up enjoying everything. The service was pretty good and this place gets very busy. The parking isn't bad at all. The yum yum sauce is definitely different but I enjoyed it. I didn't really enjoy the crab Rangoon's I thought they'd be crispy more but they were soggy. The lighting in here is dim, but really cool. I'd come here for take out again.

So glad I found this spot on Yelp. Surprised that it is so close to my house which typically is a good desert. I have been here twice in 1 week and each time the food is amazingly fresh & delicious. Service is wonderful. They have a full bar and eat in section which is quite lovely. This will be my new go to for great Chinese food. Keep up the good work

I can't remember the last time I left a negative review but this was so bad it warranted it. If you have ever had even remotely good Asian food, do NOT ORDER from this restaurant. I asked for the least spicy option of massaman curry and it made my lips burn. My aunt, who loves spicy food, tasted it and yelped it was so spicy. Also it was the most thinned out, watery massaman curry I've ever had. There's also NO tofu or eggplant in the dish whatsoever. To be completely honest, its probably the worst massaman curry I've ever had. Also it says it's $13.50 on the menu but you HAVE to choose a protein ($4-6) so it's at least $17.50....and it's SO NOT WORTH THAT PRICE it is ridiculous. The chicken and green beans was only "ok" - the green beans were FAR too over-cooked and flavorless. The chicken was way too salty. The ratio of chicken to green bean was maybe 1:4 (overwhelmingly green bean). The side of fried ride was literally bare rice with some soy sauce in it....and yet it's $1 extra. Buyer beware.

Very good food, my Tofu Curi (spicy) was amazing as was my daughters Mongolian beef. Nice size poetions. Scalion pancake was flaki, full of flavor and not too oily as was the fried vegi dumpling.

I ordered door dash from this place and this place offers the general asian takeout food but definitely leveled up! The general tso's chicken is fried to a crisp and the flavor was amazing!

The place is super clean and neat & open late which is plus. No crazy smells or overly loud talking from the other patrons. The service was splendid I even asked the waitress to go to the back and get the chef so I could kiss him in the mouth lol The crab ragoon was too much cheese not enough crab for my liking. The star of the show is the beef noodles! I loved them so much they have a forever customer in me. It was savory with a hint of sweet. Writing the review is making me hungry! I've been twice in two days. Found them on yelp trying to find late nite Chinese Food. They are open to midnight but at about 10:30pm they were no longer accepting online orders I got there about 11pm and the crowd inside was more like a lunch time vibe instead of 11pm munchies. Its pricey, if you're looking for cheap chinese food this isn't it. The first time my tab was $33 and the second time it was $53 both before tip. My first time I had the shrimp with green beans. I was eating the string beans by hand walking out the door. This dish comes with a side of plain fried rice or white rice. I also had an order of crab ragoons There isn't much that can be done to improve those but these are airy crispy and full of flavor. My second time I ordered shrimp fried rice, shrimp spring rolls and seafood lo mein. At the time I'm writing this I've eaten both spring rolls and a large portion of the lo mein. The lo mein had large scallops, shrimp and crab meat. All the seafood is plentiful, fresh and full sized pieces. Sadly all I can show of that is my empty bowl. Tried to order a side of green beans but sadly they aren't offered as a side so I went with steamed broccoli. I'm going back Sunday to try the brisket soup, so expect an updated post soon

I've tried most of the Wok Chi American Chinese food and it's all really healthy. The sweet and sour chicken is lightly breaded and the sesame and general Tso's are slightly spicy, so order accordingly!

Loved my food here! But the service is not very quick. We waited about 40 minutes for our food on a Saturday. However, the food was very delicious! We ordered the sesame chicken, the egg, drop soup, and the Kung pao chicken. All of them were very good! I would definitely be back, but hopefully at a time where it's not as busy. There is parking on the street on the side and I believe there is a parking deck too

This is one of my recent favorites places to grab food. I order to-go and order a drink at the bar while I wait. I've been here mostly during the weekdays and there's not usually a wait. I'm not sure how busy weekends get. The aesthetic is cute and simple with colorful lights. The staff is attentive and nice. I highly recommend their food whether it's date night or a quick to-go meal

Ordered the Mongolian Beef & House Lo Mein on Uber Eats. IT...WAS...AMAZING!!! I love Chinese food and I'm very picky. I haven't found any that taste this good in a long time. Until now.

I really do not recommend this place. I hate giving bad reviews BUT when I end up throwing out the food it is because the food is bad. Considering all the positive reviews I was hype to see this place pop up. General tsos tofu was so spicy it came with chili's inside and it was insanely hot, they never even asked for spice level. The scallion pancake was dripping with oil and the vegetarian dumplings were not tasty at all. I don't recommend coming here. Staff is very sweet though so that's a plus. Open late with positive reviews I def fell into the trap of bad takeout.

I decided to order here again and I hoped the fried rice would not be so plain. Im a bit disappointed by this. The fried rice has nothing in it and just a brown color to it doesn't taste like fried rice at all. I like the main dishes I've had but am disappointed in the rice

FOOD WAS AMAZING, SERVER NOT SO AWESOME My friend and I came in on a Saturday afternoon around 5pm and it was very, very quiet. The music was very low so I guess that made people want to whisper their conversations. The crab rangoon tasted so fresh and was probably my favorite. The Rice portion was small with our plates. I'd suggest 2 side rices unless you want more meat ratio than rice. The food was very quick to come and it was amazing. However, our server was very unprepared. He took our order, didn't write it out, then came back asking what we ordered for twice. He delivered wrong items and drinks to our table. For example, I asked for fried rice with my beef mongolian but he brought white and when I hesitated to ask him for it, he gave me a look like, "Yea u should just accept it" and i was like okay. Otherwise, the food was amazing and I would definitely have again

All the food items minus the fried rice was excellent. Wished the fried rice had more flavor. Other than that our entire meal was delicious and served hot! The customer service was good as well. They checked on our table but not too much that we couldn't enjoy our meal or conversation. The ambiance was chill. Sort of like a quick dine in spot. They do offer to go orders as well. Price wise was affordable, costing about $30-$40 per person for an appetizer, entree and alcoholic beverage.

Came to wok chi as this is the only restaurant open late in downtown Atlanta. I was excited seeing that the reviews were nice. It's open seating so sit wherever. The menu is contactless as well. So why the one star? Pad Thai was lackluster. Like it wasn't disgusting but it also wasn't oooh girl let me have some more. The service wasn't good either. I had to ask about forgotten food orders. No one checked in on us either.

The food is average it's not horrible but not flavorful either. The rice came in chunks for some reason. We didn't eat it we weren't sure why it was it was sticking together and to our hands. But the service was reasonable.

Firstly, I came because this place seemed to have good yelp reviews! The establishment was cute inside, but had very little parking. It seemed clean and when I got my food (sesame chicken, fried rice, and crab rangoons) it looked very good, but none of it was very flavorful and the chicken was a little over cooked. The worst part is that the next day I came down with food poisoning and this was legitimately all I ate that day. The service was negligible, and they solicit tips despite that. The best thing about this place is the ambience, but I would not recommend it at all.

The reviews had me excited to try this place and the food photos are enticing. However, my experience today was very disappointing. I took photos too and the food may look photogenic but I assure you the food did not taste as good as it looked. I ordered the Sesame Chicken which was overcooked and tasted burnt. The Cantonese Roast Duck was very dry. The fried rice was extremely bland! The Fried Chicken Wings was also bland, and the Yakisoba noodles with Shrimp was the only item that wasn't bad. $70 on dinner tonight was not worth it. I won't order here again.

I will start by saying the food here is decent, A slight bit better then the average Chinese food places, and I like the fact that they serve duck which I love. However I feel that they are little pricier than what they should be.

This is some of the best Chinese food I've had in the city. I can't understand Nicole C's terrible review other than that maybe eight months ago when she was here, the chefs that made her Sesame chicken and Roasted duck were totally different. Those dishes were both very tasty and I love the sweet flavor and perfect crisp of the sesame chicken. I should have checked the price first on the duck as it was substantially more than everything else but it kind of was worth it. It had its own sort of perfect crisp, super savory flavor, not dry, and interesting with the edible napkin like thing that they give you along with the sauce (not my fav but others may like) to make mini tacos with. We got a side of Crab Rangoon and spare ribs that were exactly what you hanker for when you think about good American Chinese food. Portions were good, overall a little pricier, but given the quality, I think it's substantiated. Ordering was a little confusing (couldn't tell at first if you needed to go up to counter or what to do after scanning the menu given you can't order with your phone), but they came out with the food quickly and were very attentive overall.

Ordered take out via Uber eats: arrived hot and packaged well. Extra points for not packing the hot food in the cancerous styrofoam container. Georgia should really ban those containers! Bad for health and the environment. Anyway- we got the: 1) general tso chicken: very red looking and heavily breaded. A bit sweeter than usual 2) chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce: usually it's either chicken or eggplant but they had the option of both, and I tried some. Was a bit oily and was oddly cut--chicken not sliced rather in chunks, same as the eggplant. 3) eggroll is BOGO on Uber eats. Was not good, however. Might not return but I do see the potential for a late night munchie.

I have been craving decent Chinese food in Atlanta forever. Safe to say I have finally found the place. I came on a Saturday night with a large group of 20 people. We called ahead and they easily accommodated us. My table decided not to do family style and I ordered the Mapo Tofu and the Hong Kong Beef Ho Fun. The wait was not long, about 15-20 minutes. The portion sizes were a bit on the smaller side. The Ho Fun was very delicious and savory and the Mapo Tofu was very good too, the spicy numbing feeling was just right. Each dish came with a bowl of rice and they also gave each table a complimentary bowl of rice. 100% coming here again!

This is probably the better Chinese food on the west side of Atlanta. Lots of offerings. Atmosphere is a vibe if you decide to eat. They validate the first hour of parking. Usually pretty quick.

I am not really a fan of their wings. I like my wings crispy and tossed in sauce. But, their Singapore noodles were really good. My favorite meal to order from there for sure! When referring to their service, I would say it can definitely be better communication with pick up orders. After you let them know what you are there for they will have you waiting and not give updates on the order.

Late night midnight DoorDash delivery was delicious and satisfied cravings. Shrimp fried rice tasted super fresh and not oily. Chicken with vegetables was also fresh, not a strong flavor profile, but still good. Sesame Chicken was crispy and delicious also.

TLDR: Would've been fine if they just told me that's how they make that dish here, but instead got the weirdest gaslighting. I've ordered from here so many times and I usually like the food. However, I just had the strangest debate with the "manager" that the meal that was given to me was what I ordered. I ordered fish in garlic sauce and they gave me fish in black bean sauce. The server brought back the fish after confirming that it was wrong and apologizes that they cooked the wrong thing. Then he brings out the same dish way too quickly, I even see him look at it and hesitate. I told him that it was the exact same dish he just sent back then he called over the manager. The manager told me that it was garlic sauce and insisted I try a bit. To appease him, I try the sauce and confirm... it's obviously black bean sauce. I even had him try the sauce and he tried to tell me it was peppercorn and then he said it was scallion. Anyone who's ever had garlic sauce or black bean sauce would know the difference. It was honestly astonishing how he kept insisting that it was garlic sauce despite me showing him pictures of what black bean sauce looks like. He kept saying, "just take a bite". Come on man, I'm Chinese and cook very frequently... Stop being weird lol

Best Chinese food in Atlanta! Discovered this gem probably 2 years ago and have been addicted ever since. The staff is super nice. They validate parking up to 2 hours. The food always comes out hot and fresh. Every dish we order is delicious! You will not be disappointed coming here. Check out @kigotcj for a full review.

This food is amazing. I had the chili wings with the pork ribs as an appetizer. By far the best wings I have ever had, ribs were very good to but Im more of a wings guy so that was my main focus . The owner Chi came out to chat a bit, great dude, super chill. In am definitely coming back. Good vibes all around. Thanks so much.

Service is very slow but the food is good. I definitely enjoyed the calamari. It took over an hour for two app and entrees.

This is the first food restaurant review I have taken the time to write. The food at this restaurant is good but the service has gotten horrible. I ordered food today and the woman taking the order did not greet me. She was rude and disrespectful. When I asked for chopsticks, she threw them down on the counter. When I told her it was disrespectful she simply looked at me and said she had to answer the phone. I understand that she was multitasking, but it doesn't give her the right to treat me less than a human being. Disappointed and I do not recommend this restaurant for their POOR service.

This is one of the best places in Atlanta for Asian cuisine. This place has never let me down and always has everything. It's well run, good service and great food. They always have the spicy mustard I ask for. I never get drinks here, so I can't speak to that portion. But if you want good food, they won't miss.

Food is great! Y'all need to update the hours of operation though. I've come to this restaurant on three separate occasions and it's not open when it says it is.

The food was fantastic! I ordered the house lo mein and pork egg rolls but a bit pricey.
