Second time at this location. I go to wok inn for the lemon chicken, egg drop soup, fried rice and sometimes for the moo goo gai pan. Both times egg drop soup tasted like a corn starch slurry, with a dash off egg flavor. Fried rice tasted and felt like it had been reheated a few times. Hard, individual, soy soaked grains of rice, kinda rubbery. Thankfully the chicken was decent. Lemon sauce, again, was a container of yellow corn starch jelly. I work in the area, and sadly I'll have to wait to go to the location off potranco&151 whenever I have time. Cashier at the drive thru was friendly and very helpful. What's going on in the kitchen?

No authenticity, no flavor, combination lo -mein served sitting in a pool of grease, ginger chicken wontons came without the sauce which is the most important Part of this particular appetizer, and I wasn’t advised that they were out of the sauce until after the fact I was given two packets of soy sauce because they didn’t have any of that either (window girl told me they had a few packets left) one of the 2 soy sauce packets in my bag had already been used!, the hot and sour soup taste like hospital grade disinfectant or something definitely not worth the $30. I spent so here I am eating in disgust. Server at the window was friendly that’s about the only good thing I can say for this Wok-inn location, Which may have been good at one point in time, but since then has declined. Read this review save yourself some money wish I did.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would! We ordered the Pad Thai from Wok-Inn, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. The flavor was bold, rich, and perfectly balanced—every bite had that kick of spice that makes you instantly fall in love with Thai cuisine. The noodles were cooked to perfection, not too soft, not too firm, just right, and every ingredient tasted fresh and authentic. The spice level was spot on. It had just the right amount of heat that made the dish exciting, but not overwhelming. Every forkful packed so much flavor that it kept us wanting more. The combination of sweetness, tanginess, and that little punch of chili made it absolutely tremendous. You could tell this wasn’t your average Pad Thai—it was made with precision and care. On top of the food being spectacular, the drive-thru service was lightning fast. We barely had to wait, and the staff were polite, efficient, and made the experience effortless. In today’s world, finding a place that delivers both outstanding food and speedy service is rare, but Wok-Inn really nailed it. Overall, I’d easily call this one of the best Pad Thai experiences I’ve ever had. It’s spicy, amazing, and everything about it felt just right. From flavor to freshness to the swiftness of service, Wok-Inn has earned not just five stars—but a full ten-star review from me!

Where do I even start. Our family use to love wok inn, it in our eyes had the best range of options and was somthing we looked forward to. Until we moved closer to this location. Don't get me wrong the staff are usually pretty nice but what happenes past the ordering counter is sonthing that health inspectors should look into. For starters the dishes are always dirty, tables are sticky, the floors have a cast over them that makes it slippery, and it just feels ick. We should have requested our funds back after we noticed how dirty the place was but we had looked forward to the fried rice after a long day. ..... just to find out after we ordered that there was no soy sauce. This was not mentioned at the time of order mind you. My beef and broccoli was good, but my husband's order was quite sus therefore most of it was left on the plate. I tried looking for the food grade as we departed but it was not clearly posted anywhere for me to notice without having to ask. Please do better the other location is far and tbh is it even worth it to drive there if leadership wont even take care of this one??

Google
1st time here and we loved it. Employees are super friendly, great attitude and food was delicious. Plus if you dine in soups are complimentary. Food very well seasoned.

We needed a quick dinner Sunday night so we thought to try Wok Inn Stone Oak location. It was our first time to dine in. Hubby might have ordered delivery before. I tried the Walnut Shrimp with steamed rice. Dad usually likes Lemon Chicken and we gave him fried rice. Hubby had the Dinner Special which was beef with mushroom. It came with an egg roll and a drink. We all got to have a bowl of soup, each trying a different one from egg drop to hot & sour to chicken & corn. They serve huge portions so we have another meal ready. We discovered that the Alamo Ranch location has dimsum so we’ll have to check it out.

Google
The staff was super nice and the food was great. Gabriel was the one who took our order, and he was super cool. He told us about a special that was going on for one of the items we ordered. It was very nice of him because it was our first time in the restaurant. Also, if you can’t “Wok Inn,” they have a drive-thru. ^_^ Total was about $35; we did order a lot.

Google
Wok Inn is fantastic. I am very happy they have finally expanded to this side of town. Always been a great place for quick eats and during the grand times before covid the soup bar was great! Consistent quality since they opened at the original Grissom Rd. Location. Family owned and run. High level of expectations for their food and employees. I can tell you anything you try on the menu will be great. If you find out you disagree with me they are always open to make it better. Come in and visit them here at the new location you will be happy you did. They are experiencing the same issue with hiring as everyone else so please as you would do anywhere else be kind!

Yelp
We enjoyed our meal recently at Wok Inn. We couldn't tell from the parking lot if it was a drive-thru or dine in. It is actually both, and we opted to check it out while dining in. You order off a very simple wall menu. You self serve your drinks and soup. The food was served very quickly, and very hot. Nice portion size too. The quality of the food was really good. Next time we will give the drive-thru a go. The Pad Thai is very spicy if you enjoy spicy food as I do.

Yelp
Nice people but my food appeared to not be fresh especially the rice and egg rolls. This was something that really surprised me, The egg rolls seemed to be clearly reheated. This was the Military rd location!!!

Yelp
This restaurant is a welcome addition to the area. They have great food and an enjoyable ambiance. I've been here now four times and they never disappoint. With every meal you have an unlimited soup bar with three varieties of soup. Egg drop soup is always available. They have a daily special plate that includes an egg roll or crab rangoon and a drink. The orange chicken is good although I would prefer the spicy to come from orange peels. The Friday fish is a hearty meal with two fish patties. Their fried rice is very flavorful, unlike other Chinese restaurants that just color the rice. I wholly recommend this for take out or eat in.

Yelp
we visited on 07/08/25 and as someone who has visited wok inn for over 32 years I have NEVER been disappointed. I brought my boyfriend for the first time and I was so embarrassed. The soup bar was gross..I have photos of the hot and sour soup.there were no wonton strips. The hot and sour soup was like jelly, I had to ask for some from their to go soups. My boyfriend ordered sweet & sour pork. My meal was brought out to me and they said my boyfriend's would be out soon. I finished half of my meal and a server came out and said im sorry we dont have sweet n sour pork. My boyfriend didnt want chicken but that's all that was available. I am never taking him back to this location ever again! They never did anything about the soup or put our more crispy wontons..I had to ask for some.

Yelp
Didn't really know what to expect but it was just an ok experience. I was very hungry and in the area so I decided to try it. I ordered the sesame chicken lunch combo which comes with rice, the chicken , and an egg roll. It also comes with a soup and drink. My order took a little long to be ready and when I checked it, my order was wrong. I had to wait longer for them to correct my order and service wasn't the friendliest. I don't think I'll be returning. Food wasn't terrible but wasn't the best either. Plenty of indoor seating, they have a drive thru as well and private parking lot.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch. Food quality was decent. Value seemed a little lacking. Other Asian restaurants frequently offer an egg roll or soup plus iced tea at lunch for the same $12 price. I just got the entree (sesame chicken) and fried rice. Anything else would have been extra. Serving size was good and the food was fine, so no complaints there. Iced tea costs them about 5 cents. Would have been nice.

Yelp
Really great for what it is, which is relatively cheap asian food. I'd probably give 3.5 stars, but I round up. Been here a few times in the drive-thru, only eaten inside one time. The drive-thru is pretty quick, obviously they have a lot of stuff ready to go and just toss in sauces and such as needed. I have no complaints on the quality of the meat, which is rare for cheap asian food. They have gotten stuff wrong a couple of times, but overall I don't have many complaints. The food is hot and generally tasty, and the price is very competitive. When you eat inside, there is a soup bar that is included with any entree, which is nice. The soups tend to be a little too thick, almost gooey instead of soupy, which means they are using way too much thickener on their soups. The flavor is good, if a little weak. Everything was mostly clean when we went inside, but they need better storage for their supplies for the kitchen, as there are piles of boxes and supplies in the back end of the eating area, which looks very messy. We have had several items on the menu, including jalapeno chicken, mongolian beef, kung pao, and pad thai. All the entrees have been delicious, with generous helpings that often result in leftovers. The only item we didn't really care for was the ginger chicken wontons, which were crispy and well cooked, but there wasn't really any ginger flavor in the filling, so they were quite bland. The pad thai really was surprisingly good, and was a great balance of sweet and spicy. We will continue to visit Wok Inn as long as they keep up the current quality to price ratio.

Yelp
The food was amazing, I've never been here and I really didn't expect it to be this good. It was fresh, the soup bar was really good as well. Good job kitchen staff. But the real reason I'm here to post is the service.... Probably best I've ever seen. A young man named Aaron.... Literally ran the entire front of house. The drive thru, pick ups, inside orders. He was polite, he was thorough, kind, and really took pride in his work. I left and realized the tip I left just wasn't quite good enough... so returned with more. Everyone should take lessons from this young man! I will def be back!

Shelley H.

Yelp
Picked up food on way home and none of it was edible. Worst food I've had in a long time. I would never recommend this place and will never return. Complete waste of $22.

Yelp
Food was not good and restaurant is not clean. The food tastes like it was cooked in old, rancid oil. Fried rice was awful. Soup bar was not clean and no soup bowls, spoons, or condiments. For some reason half the tables were pushed along the wall with supplies stacked in dining room. Mens room was out of service. Filthy grime on the front doors. Won't be back.
google avatar

Shanice R.

Yelp
I like that when you eat here the soup bar is free my wife likes to get the pad Thai. I'd like to get the general. Tso's chicken through. The food is pretty good here and the price isn't half bad either the ambience is very chill I guess you could say it's just like a little want to be Ramen shack I guess I don't know it's cute. It is what it is. The service is good. It's not like anything different. They bring in your food. They really fast and they're super nice.

Celeste L.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE Wok Inn and have been a customer since they've had just one location in town. Unfortunately, this particular location is just poorly ran. For starters, it looks like they just moved in- boxes everywhere, all of their storage just on display for everyone to see, really not a great look. When I went a couple days ago, they were out of ice...meaning not only is there no ice for your fountain drink, the drinks are also warm and flat. Then, when we asked for soy sauce we were told they were "out." OUT? Of soy sauce?!?! So we asked for some from the back and only after requesting the manager did we get a cup of soy sauce. Just a really disappointing experience all around. I will continue to support Wok Inn (best egg drop soup around), just not at this location.

Yelp
This was THE WORST FOOD! Crispy noodles stale and the Mongolian Beef about made me throw up it was so horrible! Even the fried rice was disgusting!! I want my dang $21 back since the food went directly in the trash! AWFUL!!
google avatar

Scraps P.

Yelp
I ordered the Tuesday beef and broccoli special online. Paid cash. They gave me fried rice instead of white rice. It's actually pretty good, so no big complaints. But when I went back into the ordering system to see where the rice may have gone wrong, I get a message that I'm banned from ordering for an entire month due to non payment. !!?! I paid. Cash. It was otherwise a pleasant transaction so I don't know what I did to be on the banned list. He bagged my soup sideways so I had a big mess to clean up. Guess who's banning who?

Yelp
Great food and d quick!! The service was great as a drive-through and a delivery. I did not go inside so I don't know.
google avatar

Brandie B.

Yelp
Still another 5 star! I love this place; I don't eat Chinese food often. This place has me loving it! This plate is delicious and big. They do get very busy just have some patience. You'll love your food. The ambiance is nothing fancy; enjoy your food and the size to the dollar, so worth it!
google avatar

Shannon J.

Yelp
Menu claims it comes with pineapple, bell pepper and carrots. It is just gross greasy chicken and a sad excuse for fried rice. Probably the most pathetic looking takeout ever.

Seigel F.

Yelp
Last night I ordered the combination pad thai, egg drop soup, and crab rangoon's. The total came out to a little over $21 which wasn't bad for how much food it was. My husband and I were able to split the meal and still have leftovers. The pad thai was pretty spicy, but it was the best pad thai I have ever had. When I pulled into the drive through, the young man taking my ordered was very nice and professional. I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This place is definitely in need of more staff. Overall unkept in appearance. Several tables uncleaned, despite the fact that we were there during a non-peak time. Wait until they have a chance to reboot and hire more staff. Generally messy and does not give the appearance of being well managed. Having said this, they do have a 93% score from the health department (posted at the time of visit and I didn't look to see the date of the inspection). Staff was very pleasant and helpful. They seemed to be exhausted and just getting by. The lack of adequate staffing is probably wearing them out. Food was good. Pretty standard and just a bit below Panda Express.

Hailey C.

Yelp
The young girl at the cash register was very helpful and nice but seemed to be having some register issues and online order issues so we had to wait a while for our order. No big deal. What was really disgusting was that another young girl with an awful attitude that seemed to be an off duty worker came behind the register and started moving around plates with a chewed piece of edamame in her other hand. Disgusting.
google avatar

Veronica C.

Yelp
This place is excellent, love the fried rice, and the egg roll is excellent with a lot of meat inside. Forgot to take pictures
google avatar

Yelp
The Staff is so friendly and food is so fresh! Love this place! The soup bar is awesome and prices are so affordable!

Yelp
Food was not that great small portion for almost 11 dollars out of wonton soup asked for egg roll didn't get overall would not recommend
google avatar

Paula B.

Yelp
Ordered online, order wasn't ready saying their system was messed up. The chicken I ordered was very dry and tasted awful. I have no clue what they did to the sauce and the egg rolls were burnt. Which is so sad because this place used to be so amazing for a long time.

Yelp
I was in the area, so I decided to try this drive thru Chinese place. There aren't too many around, and there wasn't a line which was a bonus. The nice girl came over the speaker and told me any time I'm ready to order, she's ready. It took me a little while to comb through the menu. Not that there are a lot of choices, but since it was my first time, I wanted to see what they had. And since no one was behind me, I took my time. They have all the favorites. Nothing really new or exciting. They do have daily lunch specials which come with rice, soup, an egg roll (or crab puff if you're so inclined), and a small drink all for under $10. Only Pepsi products there. I ordered the General Tso Chicken which was not on the daily special list, and the sweet and sour pork which was a daily special. Very sweet girl gave me my drink, and even noticed I had an old drink in my cup holder and offered to throw it away for me. Super great service! She took my payment, and I didn't wait too long for my food. By the time I left, there was a little bit of a line. Came home and took out our food. A little cooler in temperature than I normally like, but one minute in the microwave, and it was fine. The fried rice was just okay. I had to add some hot sauce to it. I tried both dishes, and I liked the sweet and sour pork more. The General Tso Chicken wasn't very flavorful. The soups (oh yeah! I forgot, the General Tso also came with fried rice and a choice of soup) came in cute little almost drink like cups. Again, not hot, but okay. I liked the egg drop soup more than the hot and sour soup. Lastly, it came with utensils, soy sauce, and fortune cookies. The utensils were low quality, but honestly for every negative thing, the service really made up for it. Good service goes a long way! Would I go back again? Probably not, but I'm not counting them out.

Yelp
We decided to take advantage of the drive thru and try this place out. It is pretty good. The prices are fair and the food was tasty. They packed up the food nicely with soy sauce and condiments. We ordered some egg rolls and the chicken won tons. The egg rolls were pork filled and just okay. The wontons are the best! Definitely get the chicken ginger wontons; the filling is so tasty and the wrappers are light and thin and crispy. I got the shrimp stir fry with fried rice and hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was so tasty and med-hot spicy, which I love. The stir fry had a very light sauce and big fresh veggies and shrimp. The fried rice didn't have much veg and it was just okay. The other plate was sesame chicken with white rice and the chicken corn chowder. I didn't hear any complaints and only that the soup was good. Overall, I'll definitely be back when I want the convenience of Chinese food in a drive thru. Glad they are close.

Yelp
Best drive thru Chinese food spot in SA! Need it at least twice a month. My go-to Is the combination fried rice and the egg rolls.
google avatar

Bob M.

Yelp
Surprised! Great food, except for the dine-in being shuttered. On the other hand, the drive through was killer. Yeah. I'll be back.

David T.

Yelp
I stopped by one day & got their Sesame Chicken & have been hooked ever since. A lot of food $ a very fair prices. Highly recommend

Bella B.

Yelp
The Ginger Chicken Wontons are amazing and a must try! Ask for plum sauce... it so yummy!!!!

Pauletta B.

Yelp
Horrible! Went through the drive thru to pick up dinner today and ordered the sweet n sour shrimp with whole grain rice. The shrimp was over cooked and the rice was hard and burnt. Almost broke a tooth biting into it. Definitely not worth the $12 I paid for it.
google avatar

Brandon K.

Yelp
My favorite "Chinese" restaurant for the past 30th years. I can remember going to the original Wok Inn off Grissom on a weekly basis since I was a young kid. This being the newest location is awesome because how much closer it is, but still isnt quite a good as the original location. My go to is the sweet and sour pork, fried rice combo with the egg drop soup. Hands down the best soup and fried rice in SA!

Amy C.

Yelp
Everyone wants to get value for money with the price of everything these days. We were pleasantly surprised at both the amount of food and how good it was- high quality! Almost better than the food- the service and staff were amazing. Super friendly, outgoing and helpful! Shoutout to Jade!! :)

Sarah M.

Yelp
Awesome Asian food with fresh ingredients and lots of flavor...easy to grab and go on way home from work in drive thru and friendly staff every time we go!
google avatar

Leslie C.

Yelp
Their pad Thai is amazing and you really get a band for your buck when you go here. The portions are awesome! My only complaint is the dining area wasn't open. I believe they're under staffed but other than that food is delicious

Colin D.

Yelp
Cool ambience, the chicken corn chowder is good. Good portions, staff is friendly. Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Janelle L.

Yelp
The portions are pretty large. The food compares to Pei Wei and is extremely similar. It was pretty good for takeout Chinese food. Plus they have a drive-thru which is super nice! (Especially if you don't like getting out of the car, like me lol) I will post likely eat here again.

Cyndy B.

Yelp
I wanted to stop here for a long time, and finally made it happen. I generally prefer to only give good reviews, but felt that readers needed a little balance when checking on this destination. The prices are great, the service was good, but if you are looking for quality Chinese food, keep looking.

Chris B.

Yelp
We were craving Chinese food so we thought we would give this place a try. I so wish we had not. From the parking lot it seemed that the restaurant was closed because no one was in the dining area. That should have been a sign on a Friday night. When we entered the music was loud and it never got quieter. I guess that is why everyone who came in after us took their food to go. The egg drop soup on the soup bar was pretty decent. We ordered the orange peel chicken and rice and the pad Thai chicken entrees. Both dishes were so spicy we could not eat them. We did not bother asking for to go boxes as there was no way to salvage the dishes.

S C.

Yelp
By far the worst Chinese food I have had. Beef was chewy and the egg roll tasted like cinnamon. The sweet and sour tastes like ketchup! It was not good at all. Not worth the over $10.00 a plate for a travel size container. Not to mention I had to wait in the drive they for 15 minutes! I asked why it took so long and they said they were waiting on people inside. What the heck! I will never return.

Sabrina P.

Yelp
Our new favorite "fast food" Chinese. The food is ALWAYS fresh, delicious egg rolls, and the service is wonderful.

Gabriela G.

Yelp
Bought two meals, an appetizer and a drink for $30. The egg drop soup had a huge glob of egg that was green. The fried rice was clearly old. Very dry and hard. Orange chicken lacked flavor. The rangoons were the only good thing about this purchase. For this much money I'd rather just go across the street. Lesson learned.

Debby A.

Yelp
The food at Wok Inn is amazing! i love their Pad Thai there and soup. The one issue is who they have at their drive-thru, Aaron, whom wanted to have a sarcastic attitude since i started my order before i got to the window, trying to rush me when i was the only car in the line. Very rude service!

Julieta M.

Yelp
The food is fresh and delicious and reasonably priced. Very good flavor. Fast and fresh food can't beat it. Lemon chicken was fresh and yummy. Corn chowder soup was also good. I was in on lunch break so didn't take a picture of the food. I highly recommend this place. It was recommended to me by my students.

Brittany L.

Yelp
This was by far the best Asian food I've had in over 10 years. Every single meal was hot and perfectly seasoned. It was so delicious my children had multiple servings and kept telling me how yummy it was. I got the pad Thai and I think I'll order that same dish every time I go there. It was superb! I even thought they forgot a dish in my order so I called them to let them know. The guy that answered was extremely nice and understanding and had a calm kind reaction to my phone call. I soon found out that my husband ate that ENTIRE dish before I saw him so needless to say he loved his cashew chicken. And they absolutely did not forget my dish. Everything was great. Thank you Wok Inn!

Nathaniel H.

Yelp
This is a good place for lunch. Getting the Lunch of the Day costs less than $10 and you get a nice, big plate, a soup, and a drink with it. Service has been nice and quick every time I've gone there.
