Ordered the sauces version of beef chow fun. This is not on there menu so you have to place the order on the phone or in person.

Walked into this place by total chance. Got the veggie chowmein and eggplant with chicken and prawns and it was awesome. This is the type of Chinese food you wanna eat to cure a hangover, just a perfect combo of flavor, and the right amount of greasy. The eggplant was cooked to perfection, it melted in your mouth. Their menu is a-la-carte style so not ideal for an individual person unless you’re really hungry or want leftovers! Would definitely go back to try some of their other dishes.

Ate here with extended family and tried a variety of dishes. As an Americanized Korean, I was quite impressed with how the food tastes. Here is my honest review of each menu item I’ve tried. Pot Stickers: 9/10 With all the good reviews on this, I had high expectations. It is still really really good. Very Crispy and good flavor, I just thought it would be better. (picture included) Orange chicken: 10/10 My favorite out of them all, very very good. Amazing texture, so so yummy. 100000% recommend. Mongolian beef: 9/10 Very good. Rich flavor. Definitely recommend. Sweet and Sour pork: 7/10 Good texture but something in the sauce was a bit unexpected, although it was still overall pretty good. (picture included) Kung Pao chicken: 7/10. Very spicy, beware. Beef Chow Mein: 9/10 Not a huge fan of chow mein but this was really good. Singapore style rice noodles: 9/10 Pretty good, authentic flavor. Normally something I would not like, but I enjoyed this dish at this restraunt. (picture included) Prawn and Scallop with black bean sauce: 4/10. Server recommended this to us when we asked for a mildly spicy seafood dish, however it did not meet my expectations at all. Salt and Pepper Fish: 8/10. Delicious but a tad bit too salty for my taste. Beef chow fun: 7/10 exactly how you’d think it would taste like Service (7/10) was less than ideal as the one server was sitting at her desk watching shows at a loud volume. Wish she paid a tad bit more attention to a party of 9.

Very good Chinese cuisine. The pt stickers were so good and filling. The Beef Chow Fun was so delicious and felt home cooked. The duck was so succulent, juicy, flavorful and delicious. The white rice balanced it. Very happy to have found such good food.

I like their tasty food. This is my "go to" place for Chinese food close to work. I love their basil chicken or shrimp!

I have been coming here for over 2 years and enjoyed the food and had not had an issue until today but I am very disappointed because I found a dead roach in my to go food. It was in the bottom so I had already eaten some but now I feel like throwing up. This is completely gross and unacceptable.

I’ve been ordering take out from here for years now and every time it’s exactly as I expect. The wild pepper chicken is my go to and a must! It’s perfectly crispy and not dry. The chili pepper is spicy but not overpowering of the other flavors. (Mind you spice preference is subjective, and I like it hot). The dry fried green beans are crunchy and each bean is evenly covered with sauce. Order from here if you’re looking for yummy classic American Chinese food!! (I call directly so they get the whole sale.)

I was walking by this place and decided to give it a try. I placed an order for chow mein over sweet and sour chicken, and was told by the man that I can only order them separately as entrees, which I did. Turns out instead of an entree of chow mein, I got a small take out box of it worth half the price I can get anywhere else. $12 for a small take out box of chow mein? Very hard to justify. 1 star.

Wok Shop Cafe is definitely in the restaurant rotation for me now. My friend and I came back for another dinner. We got different items this time too. Chinese broccoli (5/5): Standard chinese broccoli. It was good. Had a good crunch on it. Not too saucy which I liked. Salt and pepper pork chop (4/5): I love getting a salt and pepper pork chop at restaurants. This wasn't as meaty as other ones I've had, but the flavor was there. Beef chow mein (4/5): The noodles were perfectly cooked and the portion was good. The beef was okay.

The food I rate 11/10. Better tasting than Chinese Fast Food. Orange Chicken is so flavorful it didn't taste breaded. Mongolian Beef was so juicy and tender over white rice DELISH! The shrimp Wonton soup always hits the spot and tastes the same Everytime baby Everytime. Crab ragoons are little pockets of deep fried Joy. And I like the egg rolls veggie egg rolls for crispy goodness flavor is 11. Everything ordered came to 65$ well spent. Had food for two days. Fed someone's who didn't have lunch as well. It was a whole spread. Try this spot.

Service was great and food was just as good! Really nice and quiet place. Ordered Chicken Chow Fun and Vegetable Fried Rice both delicious! The vegetable pot stickers were a great way to begin our time here. Awesome!

The wild pepper chicken is excellent. The portion is good size and reasonable priced. The chicken is crispy and very flavorful and spicy. Got the salt pepper pork chops and they were meaty and flavorful. The food comes out fast. Service is great and friendly here. There's so much food that's reasonably priced for sf that it's definitely worth coming back for even if you're just passing by. You will get full off a dish and your wallet won't feel empty. Best bang for your buck for some good Chinese food. Definitely will come back for more chicken and other dishes here again

Came in for a quick bite to eat. It was a cute little spot. Though I will say the directions took us to their old closed location so we almost missed trying them until we came around the corner and saw their sign. The place was quiet, but we did come rather early. The food was like family style serving so we all got to share and try what everyone ordered. The food was good and had good portions. Not a bad place to stop and eat.

Food is legit. We ordered take out and just got a bunch of things to share. My sister loves this place, she said it was the best orange chicken (besides Panda). We got beef broccoli, orange chicken, crispy fried pork, mapo tofu, kung pao chicken, fried rice and combo chow mein. Pretty legit! Orange chicken was good, not mushy and had good flavors. The beef broccoli to my surprise had copious amounts of beef and it wasn't just all just broccoli! Take out Chinese is the best! I forgot to take pics but portions were good.

Went for the SnP pok chop this time and it did not disappoint! Super Crisppity Crunchitty as it's deep fried, it's fine... the flavor is excellent, salty spicy peppery and all balanced quite well! And for $12, even better... these guys are representing well in a land of Panda and sub par Chinese joints, tastes like Grammas cooking! Ho mei ahhhh! Just eat it!

I stopped by to grab a quick bite and figured to try their combo wonton soup this time around. My last visit was a take out order, chicken chow mein, but since I had time I sat in. The lady was nice, greeting me and a couple others that happened to walk in at the same time. Unfortunately, a few bites in, the 2nd wonton I bit into had a sharp object in it! Luckily I noticed it, thankfully now swallowing it either. It wasn't anything metallic and from what it looked like to me was a piece of organic scrap which was very sharp and hard. Everything was going well all up until that moment which prompted my 3 star review. My suggestion to the staff, please pay close attention when prepping your dishes because this could of been a lot worse than a 3 star review

I love this place SO much. And it's right across the street from where I live. They serve the absolute BEST authentic Chinese food I've tasted. They have great lunch specials that come with soup as well. I only with it would come with some eggrolls. But that won't stop me from coming here. The food is delicious

Just found a roach on my chowmein camouflage with the colors of the beef and other ingredients. Its so unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!! And didnt even gave a refund of all the food i ordered. I didnt eat any of the food i ordered!!!!!!! We always order to this place but now we're all scared what have weve been eating!

After walking around the city, we decided to give Wok Shop another try, and after eating what we ate, I felt compelled to write an updated review. The affordable lunch options are still a thing, which is great if you are looking for a meal under $13 that is filling and delicious. My girlfriend and I love spicy food, so when we were chatting up one of the owners, we asked if anything could be made spicy, and he said yes. We ordered the wild pepper chicken, and this was easily one of the best fried chicken dishes I've had in a really long time. It was perfectly crisp, great flavor, and even stayed crispy after being in the fridge. We were blown away at how delicious this chicken was. It's something I could eat everyday. We also got beef and broccoli, extra spicy. Easily one of the best beef and broccoli i've ever had. I've never had it spicy before and it was drenched in sauce, which we loved. Poured the extra spicy sauce in the rice, it was magical. Lastly, we got bbq pork chow mein, spicy as well, it was hella good. Good amount of bbq pork and spicy noodles, great combo. All of this was under $40, which in the city is a steal, and we had plenty of food. Can't wait to come back and try their spicy fried rice! If you like spicy food, that's not overbearing an complements well, try asking for their dishes spicy. Out of everything, highly recommend giving the wild pepper chicken a try, it's that good.

i entered the shop for the first time after landing in San Francisco to charge my phone after buying food. The cashier who's a short, tan, old man with white hair and balding. He saw me with so much stuff on my wheelchair he said to move it to the corner so it doesn't bother anyone and when I was gonna buy first he said it's okay, he has it covered. I was crying and clearly upset but happy. Minutes later after the customers leave the dining room empty with only his employers, he asked me to pay $30 worth of food I can barely buy. I was so upset and hurt but silent, I paid then leave. I told him I don't have enough money for s ticket out of San Francisco and he said it's okay, food is free. i cried and believed him until I was alone and thanked him then asked me to pay. That was so messed up and I'm still stuck in San Francisco even tho i really wanted to go back to L.A. to recover my damaged knees. Please, if you're híñeles ssnd struggling like me. Don't go here ever. It's all an act and he thinks no one will know. I'm posting this and I don't care what he thinks. You don't do that ever. The food was great, but never again.

Called to order 5 half trays of food for an impromptu team lunch and everything was ready 25 minutes later! Fast, good value, and delicious food!! We had the veggie chow mein, veggie fried rice, tofu with mixed vegetable, sesame chicken, and Mongolian beef. Everything was so good, but the two faves were the sesame chicken and chow mein.

My husband and I used to come to Wok Shop at their old location and we were so happy to see they had just moved right around the corner. The food is very tasty and the portion sizes are great. The staff were very nice and the order was quick which is important for our busy family. They even honored my special requests for the meals to make it more kid friendly. We have ordered from this place twice in a week and it's going to be a weekly staple for us.

They really load your plate up here. Food is very good and the staff is kind and welcoming. Food comes out hot and fast.

Hate to say this we're locals ordering from here for years... Tonight food has changed up big time. Diff owners ? Diff chef ? Food not seasoned enough, watery sauce and undercooked. Not wok seared and delicious, like usual.

This unassuming joint is located right by my hospital and is the perfect fix for my greasy chow mein cravings. It's pretty clean inside and ordering is easy (either place your order online or call it in). Orders are prepared in a timely manner and they toss in fortune cookies for you to enjoy as well. I've ordered the veggie chow mein ($11.55) and string beans ($12.50). Portions are decent and pricing isn't too bad. They also have lunch/dinner specials too!

FYI Place moved just around the corner on the Van Ness side. Was very busy, order was waiting under 10 mins , Delicious, thank you! 5 Star

I'm mad at this place because the lemon chicken was SO GOOD - light and crispy and sweet and delicious - that I keep thinking about it. And I don't live in San Francisco.

Good, quick and reasonable Pricing. Always my go to when I am on my lunch break. Favorite dish is the eggplant with chicken and shrimp lunch.

Everything is good, especially the beef tendon curry. The beef tendon rice soup is great too.

This is a solid 4 star Chinese spot. It's cheap, good and consistent. With Chinese food, I optimize for either distance, quality or price. I've always been a few blocks from this place so it's my quick cheap option. It's not going to blow your mind, but you wont be disappointed. They've recently moved around the corner into the old Kyoto sushi building so now they have ample room for seating and you'll never have to worry about needing a reservation.

Dining alone, seated quickly at noon on a Monday. I prefer my hot & sour soup with pork, but this was a very good vegetarian rendition--sour and peppery, with lots of tofu, a little egg, and deliciously peppery. It could have benefited from a sprinkling of green onion to brighten it a bit, but a solid opener to my kung pao trio lunch special. This was a large, spicy, fresh, and tasty shrimp, tender-crisp carrot and zucchini, and perfectly velveted beef and chicken, rounded out with water chestnuts, scallions and slices of jalapeño. Even the peanuts were crunchy and fresh. Service was attentive--my water glass was refilled without asking. Another plus--tables are spaced far apart. No bumping chairs or tripping over other diners. Decor is unfussy with a few cute touches, which probably is what keeps this place clean and very affordable. Also worth mentioning that I was one of about five solo diners and none of us was rushed or relegated to the worst table in the house. Overall, pleasantly surprised by this nice experience and great value!

Sweet and sour Fish fillet was really good. Seafood fried rice is good too although average. And the Singapore style noodles are a little dry for me but maybe that's how it normally is. I wouldn't order it again though. I ordered in-store for a takeout so I can't say anything about the service although it took 22 mins for the order to get ready (yes, I timed it). Place is alright. I didn't see anything worth mentioning. But an ok place to dine in.

This place saved me multiple times for all the time I've worked long shifts. The flavor is amazing, worth coming back. There beef with bitter melon is the best not so bitter after all. Not to mention, they deliver after certain hours, fast and accurate order. This place seemed pretty clean, always busy and a hole in the wall type. Definitely but the salt pepper pork chop, wonton soup, and the bitter melon dishes.

I would have liked to give this place at least 4 ostars for food, service, and reasonableness. But had a terrible experience this evening. I ordered Shrimp and Scallops in Black Bean Sauce, but I received several shrimps, 1 scallop, 1 whole onion chopped, and half of a bell pepper. An onion is a garnish and not a meal and is certainly not worth 20 bucks because it's garnished with shrimp. If I had ordered this food to consume in the restaurant, it would have been sent back to the kitchen. It is simply dishonest to replace scallops with onions. If this dish has become too expensive to make, then just take it off the menu. Will not return any time soon. Very disappointed.

Most of the restaurants in this neighborhood close fairly early, so Wok Shop Cafe stands out in that they close at 10pm!! Wow! I ordered takeout during COVID times. They offer some neat dinner combos that include soup, an appetizer, and a main dish! I ignored this offering and tried the - Cumin Lamb: spicy and a bit gamey. - Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce: eggplant was tender and the sauce was sweet. - Mapo Tofu: spicier than expected, I diluted it with rice I had at home. Pretty good for vegetarian tofu (I'm used to getting some mapo tofu with meat.) over the course of a few days. I'd come back to try other dishes, especially late-night.

Such a hidden gem! O R D E R E D: their lunch menu items - string bean beef with rice and basil lamb with rice, both items also came with your choice of their hot&sour soup OR egg drop soup. V E R D I C T They are on the busy Van Ness street with very limited parking but their food is super quick and flavorful. I would definitely recommend this spot for anyone looking for a good Chinese spot in the area, whether it be business workers or government workers who don't have a long lunch break - or not want to go all the way to Chinatown. Their dishes are affordable and the cooking style is consistent.

Food is good especially their spicy chicken. Fast service if you call ahead of time. Which I highly suggest. Ambience was pretty chill and quiet. Not classy for sure, but casual or semi casual works.

What a hidden gem! We came here on a foggy day when we were cold and hungry and this restaurant really hit the spot. We got the wild pepper chicken which was so delicious it took me straight to flavortown. The prices are really good and the portions are nice. I would highly recommend this place for someone looking for some affordable authentic Chinese cuisine!

Ordered Chinese takeout from here for dinner last night and the food did not disappoint! I decided to try out a new spot and this was the best rated amongst the options available for postmates delivery (seems like it's quite hard to find any 4+ star chinese restaurants on postmates!). My boyfriend and I ordered Mongolian beef chow fun, hot and sour soup(L), and kung pao chicken with a side of jasmine rice. I found the prices to be reasonable, the portions to be large, and the food to be flavorful. I will most definitely return to try out more of Wok Shop's dishes and potentially dine in next time!

I just discovered that after years of eating here I've never reviewed this place. SHAME ON ME!!! My husband and I used to live a block up Sutter from this place, and it was our go-to restaurant. Craving Chinese? Wok Shop. Too tired to cook, too hungry to wait for delivery? Wok Shop. Bad day, need comfort? Wok Shop. Friends in town for a show? WOK SHOP! Before I go any further, I should probably note that I consider Americanized Chinese food to be an entity unto itself. I mean, there are times when you want Dim Sum... There are times when you want dumplings.... There are times when you want pig ear in chili oil... and there are times when you want someone to unironically hand you a fortune cookie with your check. But here's the thing: It's easy to make passable Americanese food. That's why Panda Express exists. Truly excellent and satisfying Americanese, on the other hand, is surprisingly hard to find. We moved to the other end of SF several years ago, but we still come back to the old neighborhood just to visit the Wok Shop because NOBODY DOES IT BETTER. The pork fried rice is flavorful, the sesame beef is perfectly crispy, and the rangoons have exactly the right amount of imitation crab. The pupu platter is good enough to make you stop giggling like a preteen. Best of all, it's family owned and the family is awesome. The hostess / matriarch used to chat with us every time we came in, and got worried if just one of us came in with a to-go order. I miss you, Wok Shop. Never change.

Great value for the price and solid food. I work at CPMC and this is one of my go to treat myself lunch spots that is close to work and cheap eats. The service here is always fast and i dont waste my lunch hour. Order before lunch, pick up my food and enjoy a nice tasty lunch for SF thats cheap. The combos are where its at for good deals.

Very tasty food, its a regular stop for us after a neighborhood doctor's appointment. Their kung pao will wake up your taste buds.

I've been wanting to try this place for some time now. the location close to home, the prices and the menu are pretty attractive to me. so the value is high in my eyes. today I ordered two things, .. bbq pork fried rice and hong kong style noodles with pork. I did not eat the fried rice yet, but I ate the hong kong noodles with pork. it was actually a mistake (my mistake), I did not know that the dish comes with crispy noodles. and you pour the sauce and everything on it. but did I regret it? little bit. but after the first bite, I changed my mind. did I regret it? nope, not at all.

Delicious Chinese food - sesame chicken and BBQ pork lo mein were great! Note that sesame chicken does not automatically come with rice - that is ordered separately for ~$2. Come here if you want to satisfy your Chinese food cravings. Pros: fast pickup, tasty, good portions. Cons: rice may need to be ordered separately.

It's the yelp-i-verse, but man, I don't get the whacky hater reviews here. Breaking news for the unaware: chow fun is greasy-- part of what makes it so delicious. What I can report, is this take-away place got me and my starving co-workers through many long shifts eons ago, when I worked in the 'hood. That the Wok Shop Cafe is still around, in business and keepin' on, is testament enough to its quality and great price point for Cantonese cooking. As you may know, there is ample top-notch Canto cuisine to be had, in numerous neighbourhoods. Wok Shop may not be your fancy Chinese restaurant for special occasions, but as far as what counts for me, it's spot on for taste and value. Wor wonton soup and Chow fun are legit, and delivery was always prompt and courteous. Hot yummy reasonably priced Chinese take-out made us loyal happy customers. It's heartening to know that the Wok Shop is to this day, wokking up good grub in the city by the Bay.

The food was not to our liking and one of our servers' behavior caused me an extreme trauma response. I came here with an out of town friend who was visiting SF for the first time. We were STARVING and so excited to get some good eats on his last day. I ordered two dishes. The first (Veg Chow Fun), was not to my liking. I very politely told the woman serving us and she snatched my plates from my hands. I felt offended and disturbed by her aggressive behavior. The behavior which began to trigger an anxiety attack. As we waited for my second dish my friend's food arrived. Sesame Chicken and Pork Gyoza with a side of steamed rice. About 10 minutes after his food arrived we began to worry that my second dish would not come. I was so hungry at this point I was experiencing hunger pangs and my blood sugar was getting too low. In any other circumstance I would have left, but he was eating. He offered me his Gyoza, which I accepted. I grew up Muslim and vegetarian and am trying to become vegan. I am also recovering from an eating disorder so in times of extreme hunger I will eat meat if I have to. I could hear the woman who served us in the back talking about me loudly since she'd taken the plates back which increased the initial anxiety and caused me to feel nauseated. When my friend asked her for condiments she didn't acknowledge him and put them on our table without looking at us at all. I felt guilty, stressed, and completely uncomfortable. Was this all because I didn't like my first dish? I wanted to throw up as I ate chewy bits of pork while waiting for my second dish. The woman server came out to eat at another table behind us as we ate. At times I could feel her staring and giving us the evil eye. She left after about 15 minutes. Maybe she was at the end of her shift and ready to go home? Still, not a good enough reason to disrespect your patrons and make them uncomfortable. I asked a male server when I'd get my second dish, which I was weary about after potentially pissing off the kitchen by sending food back. He told me the woman server didn't put my second order in... At this point it'd been about 45mins since I'd ordered and my friend was done with his chicken. (He did not enjoy the Gyoza at all and gave the rest to me.) The male server asked if I'd still wanted the dish. He was very kind. I declined and asked for a bowl of steamed rice instead which he did not charge me for. I ate the rice with the remaining sauce from my friend's sesame chicken and ended the "meal" feeling mistreated, nauseous, anxious, and guilty. The only positive part of this experience was the male server and the fortunate cookies. I will not be returning to this establishment. I wish that man the best.

This café restaurant is a very popular place to be at. Many workers and not only hospital but just the general population comes here for a fast quick and delicious meal. The service is fast and tasty. There's a great variety as always in everything the Chinese cuisine has to offer. They are constantly on their toes trying to get everything for you immediately as you order. Love the service love the food. Come and enjoy Chinese food and not necessarily in Chinatown. You'll enjoy.

So so good! Discovered that they deliver themselves (save them and yourself Uber Eats & Doordash fees if you're in their delivery area). Arrived fast, still warm, well packaged. Kung Pao chicken, veggie Chow Fun, spring rolls (still crispy when arrived with sauce in a container), Chinese broccoli. All delicious! With fortune cookies included. I also love their Hot & Sour soup and Mongolian Beef. Couldn't love this place more -- eating in at the restaurant which is lovely (their lunch special is great) or ordering for delivery. So deserving of five stars! Great Chinese food!

Tasty, affordable food in a great location. I've definitely liked all the noodle dishes I've had here. My only complaint is for Yelp: somehow they interpreted my pickup order as delivery. My office is literally across the street!
