We visited this restaurant and everything was absolutely wonderful! The food was delicious, generous portions, and very well cooked – exactly to our taste. The service was impeccable, with staff being attentive and respectful. The atmosphere was pleasant and calm, and the cleanliness was perfect – everything neat and well taken care of. A special thanks to the gentleman who served us, a middle-aged man, very respectful and kind, who made our experience even more enjoyable. Congratulations to the whole team – we will definitely be coming back!

We went for the first time with some friends. The service was excellent, and I enjoyed my vodka mai tai. We ordered a bunch of food; fried rice, low mein, chicken, all delicious.

Google
Got RAW take out chicken tonight, it takes us 30 minutes to get there (with the traffic). I called not trying to be difficult I never complain. The would only remake the order or give me a credit. They wouldn’t refund me even for just the chicken. I told them I could email a photo since we aren’t lying, they didn’t have an email. Absolutely ridiculous.

We celebrated our engagement party yesterday. Wanted to end the night with Chinese food. Tried this place out for the first time. Ordered 6 pu pu platters and general gao chicken. My gosh everything was delicious!!! Highly recommend this place. We will absolutely go back when we are in the area!

Google
Come on people lets be honest and be straight forward and honest that this place SUCKS ! food that is pushed out of this kitchen at these prices are absurd, Fried dumplings taste of low quality oil for frying, Also ordered Kung Pao Chicken and it is horrible. Drive to Maine, Ma, Ct, NY and get better quality food that this poser of Chinese food, Should have figured out as American chick ringing register upon picking order up.

Google
Two of us had dinner tonight and it was an excellent experience. Mathew and Sophia are the owners and greeted us and explained the specials. The wonton soup was classic with homemade wontons and a clear and flavorful broth. We ordered the mu shu pork with pancakes was very tasty and had plenty of different ingredients. The special was steamed fish with ginger sauce. This was the best I’ve ever had. Delicate blend which brought out the fish with ginger, soy, rice wine vinegar. Highly recommended. The portions were large. The food came out very fast. The service was great. This is classic Chinese food which is well made and wonderfully served. Bar is small but very busy. Price is excellent with more food than we could finish for $24 each.

Google
Absolutely loved the food. Everything was fantastic. Lo mein is my favorite dish back home and they DEFINITELY didn't disappoint! Boneless spare ribs were also awesome. Portions were also great! Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
The waiting staff can't be any nicer. People linger in there all night long. They seem welcome to stay. They have a bar. We're all the locals just seem to gravitate the laughter Bellows from one end of the place to the other. There must be something in the food that makes the people feel good. I'm a vegetarian. I'm very selective, but I always find something like a broccoli with garlic sauce or some kind of tofu or lo mein. I hope you have a lovely meal by now.

Yelp
My family met me at the Wok the Wok for my birthday. There were 7 of us. It seems everyone ordered a different luncheon so there was a wide variety. The flavors and fragrances were amazing. We had to sample one anothers dishes. This is our new go to for Chinese food. The teriyaki beef is perfectly flavored and tender. My hot and sour soup was delicious and by itself very filling. My granddaughter ordered a large wonton soup to take home because it too was so flavorful. We all agreed that they make the best crab Rangoons and of course ordered extra to take home. Orange flavored chicken is perfect, as is General Zhao's.

Yelp
Best Chinese in the area hands down. The space is on the small side, but has a good amount of tables. It can get loud sitting by the bar as those patrons get deeper into their drinks. My wife and I make the trip from southern Maine as their food is consistently good. Why the trip? Because in every town on every corner is the same American Chinese food. Don't get me wrong that's somewhat okay but not nearly as good as more authentic food which Wok the Wok has. The service really good. Go there it's worth it.

Yelp
Had delicious take out tonight. The General Gao chicken was fantastic with good chicken and fresh broccoli. The hot and sour soup is always amazing and was again tonight. The pupu platter for 1 was pretty good too. Putting an oolong tea packet in with the to go orders was amazing. Also Jess is always super personable and good to see her. Thank you!

Yelp
Great food and mai tais. Awesome service. Wish the bar was bigger but they're making due with the space they have. My favorite Chinese spot in Hampton

Yelp
The Ocean Wok is back, as "Wok the WOK". We understand the original owners have returned in an attempt to restore the caliber of the food and dining experience at this long running restaurant offering Chinese American fare on Hampton Beach. We've gone to Ocean Wok over the years and found our favorites on the menu, including the standout "Mai Tai" cocktails. Over the years, things have slid downhill a bit, and I had high hopes for this reboot. Service as usual is fast and efficient. The menu looks pared back quite a bit, as we were looking for certain dishes, no longer offered. Our dishes were all hot and tasty, but nothing was exceptional. It's hard to compare to some of the Chinese restaurants in bigger cities like Boston, NY or San Francisco, as the menu and dishes are adjusted to please the local palate. With that in mind, I think this restaurant does a good job. If you are visiting Hampton Beach and don't want the usual fried dough, pizza and other fast food, this is a far better and enjoyable option.

Yelp
I have been to many Asian restaurants around the world and ordered many orders of shrimp fried rice, but never did I expect to get the shrimp fried rice. I got the other night I expected small shrimp, but I got instead these large, soggy shrimp several big buoys. I felt. like i was in an episode of land of the giant shrimp anyway, they they were soggy no other way to put it soggy old misplaced shrimp . put some batter on these puppies, and you fool somebody you MIGHT fool somebody, but in that brown tinge 60s style rice with the horrible cubed, carrots,it left a lot to be desired... I must say i'll be back The scallion pancake was plentiful .

Yelp
Food is good but really expensive for small amount of ingredients. I ordered the chicken and pineapple, and I didn't have much veggies. Then it says pineapple boat, and come to find out it's only for dine in. Wouldn't matter but charging as if we got the bowl is annoying. I wish y'all the best.

Bruce K.

Yelp
We tried it & liked it Food was served fresh & hot. Tried the lunch specials which was generous including soup & a wing. What a great idea. Mai Tai was good too

Sheila A. B.

Yelp
The best pork fried rice I have found in New Hampshire. Tasty and fresh every time. Good size chunks of pork. All dishes I've tried have been delicious. We make a trip from Meredith from time to time just to go here. Sometimes the service is not top rate. But the quality of the food makes up for that occasional issue.

Yelp
Tried Wok the Wok for the first time tonight and it's the best Chinese food I've had since leaving California 6 years ago. We tried the salt and pepper shrimp, scallion pancake, mu shu house special. All fresh, seasoned just right. Service was fast and friendly. This will definitely be a regular stop for me. Menu is just the right size for the place.

Yelp
The best chicken wings, crab Rangoons; and secret sauce mai tais! Mary the bartender always makes me laugh. They always make us feel welcome and find us a table.

Jack F.

Yelp
Really good and fresh Chinese food. Fairly typical menu but they make it so fresh, it's amazing. Great service too. All waiters are very friendly and attentive. And the drinks are all strong and tasty. Can't go wrong here.

Nh S.

Yelp
Ought to be named Wow-the-Wow!!!! Great service from Sophia, Jess, Joe, Mark, etc. that blends effortlessly with amazing dishes. Trying the Gen Gau's all-white-meat chicken extra spicy with light sauce on a side of chicken fried rice. You need to try all the fried rices as a meal alone with the sauce of your choice!! The bone-in spare ribs are a must starter for the hungrier diner!!!

Yelp
Wok the Wok, formerly Ocean Wok has its ups and downs. The restaurant seems cleaner than it used to be, but there's less of a friendly atmosphere at the bar. The steamed dumplings are fantastic as is the beef and broccoli, but on our most recent visit the General Gau's was burnt to a crisp- eww. The location can't be beat, just north of the drawbridge. We'll probably give it one more chance.

Allison L.

Yelp
Very tasty & fresh with Reasonable prices & large portions. Inside is a little cramped, suggest takeout if you have a group.

Gary M.

Yelp
I ordered chicken and brocolli. and Shrimp Lo Mein. Most of the chicken in the chicken and brocolli eere not good sized thin medallions but were small shreds and bits of chicken and overcooked. The brocolli was overcooked, not crisp, and the sauce was watery. The Shrimp Lo Mein came with 6 Jumbo Shrimps which were very fresh. However I would of enjoyed small Shrimp throughout the noodles rather than 2 Shrimps to a portion. Also the Lo Mein had too much sugar and too much 5 spice powder which was not enjoyable. It's not back to the original original. Actually it was better last year.

Yelp
The couple that owns the business not only have the best Chinese food in a 60 mile radius., they are the nicest people. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant, and you will experience it for yourself.

Yelp
This place is a must try! They even will bring out a lobster dish if you ask nicely!

Louisa M.

Yelp
Karen the bartender is great! Friendly, welcoming, and efficient. At her recommendation so made me aware of a new addition to the menu and it was top notch. Spare ribs on the bone. Delicious!!! What a nice surprise. Always a great spot to have a cocktail when Karen is working. Try the ribs and u will be pleased!

Yelp
We eat here anytime we travel to Hampton beach. It could be once a year or 4 times a year. This week we ate food twice from there. The first night we got take out. We ordered shrimp with eggplant, pork fried rice, that were in the menu and then off the menu they made general tso and moo goo gai pan. Everytime we order for years now I get the shrimp and eggplant. it's evolved it used to be spicier, it used to have scallions in it now it's just shrimp with eggplant and it still tastes great but this time the sauce was watery. The moo goo gai pan also had a watery sauce. The next time we ate later in the week at the restaurant we opted not to get those things at all. They are very nice at the restaurant and the service was good. Anytime we have ever eaten in there the noise from the bar is too loud. If you're looking for a quiet atmosphere this isn't the place. Someone at the bar is often swearing so if you have younger children or in our case someone in their 70's that was raised in a proper household it is a bit much at the volume that comes from the small bar area. No matter what once the people at the bar leave the restaurant quiets right down. This time while at the restaurant we had orange chicken which was great, pork fried rice again which was great, instead of chicken with green beans I asked if they could make me beef with greens beans and they could and it too was great! We've had the lomein before specifically the shrimp lomein and it's always flavorful and has plenty of shrimp. This time it came out not warm and there were only two shrimp. When my mother said she was displeased they took it back to heat it and he brought the same dish out only warmer and said "shrimp was hiding underneath" so they didn't add any. My mom said fine and proceeded to eat it and there was only a total of three shrimp so I guess one was hiding. Just doesn't sound like shrimp lomein. Even the smallest order of McNugget you get 4. lol For dessert we had the fried ice cream which they set on fire so that's fun and the prices are decent for the portion you get. It was just off this week. My mom having two bad experiences this week would prefer not to go back. I think we'd give them another shot but over the years by far the worst experiences we've had. Give it a try price is good, portion for family style is good, parking is good, restaurant is loud and food isnt to the standard it has been but everyone has an off night or two right?

Ela S.

Yelp
They are polite and professional. The food has great flavor. They were good at timing estimates. An A+

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and fresh Chinese style cuisine. Perfect for sharing, large portions and tasty. We tried the pork filled fried dumplings, I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp, my husband ordered the pork in garlic sauce, and we shared the vegetable fried rice. We took home half the rice and half the pork because we were quite full. The jumbo shrimp was fresh and cooked perfectly with a nice crispy batter thus we chose to finish that first. Service was also spectacular. What a great find across from the Hampton Beach State Park.

Yelp
Last night my wife and I took her son and his wife, both chefs, and their two young children to the Wok on Wok for a birthday celebration. We had eaten there several times since Matthew's return and had fallen in love with the place, so much so, that we felt comfortable taking two people who obviously know food. Among the dishes we ordered were lobster, fish, dumplings, crab Rangoon, spare ribs, and lots more. Two thumbs up on each dish. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, and Matthew was attentive as well. The evening was a total success. We will be returning.

Yelp
Haven't been to this place in years. It was originally called the Ocean Wok and now it's called Wok the Wok. Fantastic Chinese food. The crab Rangoon is to die for and the fried rice is a must. They make their own Duck sauce and it's so good you'll want to take it home. Can't wait to go again!!!

Yelp
My wife an I had supper Thursday night. The place was very busy. But we ordered and our meal came out very quickly. The food was hot and very fresh. The drinks we had were a bit strong but other than that a fantastic meal. The staff was friendly and courteous as well. Worth going.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I was expecting it to be back to its old self of many years ago, with Mr. Matthew Fan back in the owner's spot as I understood, and maybe we were just there when the real chef wasn't on duty, but it was just average. And that's being kind. We were there on a quiet weekday afternoon for lunch. It was empty except for one other table and a few people at the bar. The Hot and Sour soup was great and I was very excited about what would be next, but the General's chicken was really not good, (why do they give a hairy chicken wing with a chicken-based dish for a Lunch special anyway? Ick.), with no sweetness and the pieces were odd bits of chicken, not white meat at all. Lunch specials come with pork fried rice that was tasteless and dry. The food made me feel pretty disgusting, actually, beyond just feeling disappointed. They charge for each soft drink, remember, so don't go fill up on soda, lol. And they never provide crunchy noodles in the restaurant. I've never understood that, but I've always attributed it to their desire to move the diners the heck out of there to make room for more. Each diner in our party felt similarly about their dishes. Our server was great, though. I hope it was just an off day, but I doubt I'll be returning. We stopped going to Ocean Wok many years ago when the quality slipped and went downhill drastically, but we thought we'd give it a try because we heard the old owner was back. Too expensive to throw more money at it just to be disappointed, sadly.

Karen K.

Yelp
The food was excellent, as was the service. It was very busy on this rainy Saturday night. We did not get tea or pineapple with check which was disappointing. Recommend take out unless you want drinks which were also excellent!

Diana M.

Yelp
Food was good, service was slow but the worst part was 2 tables of young adults who perhaps had too much adult beverages. This establishment advertises "family dining". I would hesitate to bring family there based on the language being broadcast LOUDLY. F-bombs in most sentences. When we asked if the staff could request the group to quiet down a little and refrain from using offensive language, we were told "We can't do anything". We took our food and our Grandson and left.

Indira S.

Yelp
I have to say this was pretty amazing Chinese food. Was expecting the usual greasy take out Chinese - but the fried rice was something else. Delicious, fresh tasting veggies with that unique wok fried taste and not salty. The general Tao's tofu was also exceptional, the sauce tasted very light and unique, probably made with fruits? and not the usual corn starch/ syrup slurry. The tofu itself was very tender inside and crisp outside. Scallion pancakes were also fresh and light. What a pleasant surprise in the boardwalk area.

Deborah H.

Yelp
We had lunch there mid December 2022. The food, the service, the cleanliness and staff were fantastic. Welcome back to the original owners. Your hard work shows. We had General Gau's Chicken. We had enough for two meals for a reasonable luncheon price.

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
We had gone to the Ocean Wok" and loved the food. Saw that the name was changed to Wok on Wok and hoped it was a good as before. We ordered a Pu Pu Platter for two and some house rice. Everything in the Platter was dry. The rice was good. We asked if there were new owners and were told they were not new! We asked the waitress to tell the owner or chef that we were very disappointed.

Tad S.

Yelp
Best Chinese in New Hampshire. So tasty good quality. Great staff. It's the needle in the haystack that is New Hampshire.

Jean M.

Yelp
This is the best Chinese food around. We were so pleased to go here for lunch today and discover that the original owner is back and the amazing food we remembered was once again on our plates. Superb!
google avatar

Carolle G.

Yelp
we really like wok the wok. love the original owners. today decided to invite friends to wok the wok. I was quite dissatisfied with the app where cold the house egg fu yong was not so good.

Jane M.

Yelp
Read all the reviews and couldn't wait to try Wok the Wok. So disappointing. Food was so bland, no flavor, tasteless. The prices were not unreasonable, but I would have paid more for better quality.

Stacie G.

Yelp
We love those place. They servings are huge and the food is amazing!! The drinks are fantastic and the service was out of this world.
