Wokker - Review - Galleria - Houston - The Infatuation

"If you love Texas barbecue (who doesn’t), Wokker's sweet and tangy barbecue sauce over their cowboy katsu curry will make your heart grow an extra size. Everything here is extremely filling—that katsu curry comes with crispy chicken, rice, and a jammy fried egg all doused in sauce, for instance. And while nothing at Wokker will blow you away, it will comfort and satiate you, especially if you throw in the brisket eggrolls." - Chelsea Thomas

Hello foodie folks…can I just say wow…crazy new spot in the heart of H-town Galleria area that just opened two days ago and still in their soft opening phases. However, they got their system and wonderfully, smiling staff together. They are inside a new Food Hall and I love the give. Went here during lunch and there definitely was a strong vibe and energy level. The food was seasoned well and good portion size. Good amount of shrimps, tasty noodles and delish Brussels sprouts!! If you want to just lounge around, there are comfy booths and seats all over. Come check them out. ChowChow Time!!

Google
This is very disappointing this place sits at the very entrance of a popular tourist destination in Houston however the food was at best bland and unpretentious most likely microwaveable… the prices are cheap if you are paying for the basics but when you add the protein and vegetables it goes up more than double and then you’re actually paying premium prices for substandard foodstuffs if your totally plastered and drunk and your palate has taken a dive into the abyss then eat here and spend your cash but if your are looking for Chinese food keep walking look for an authentic joint that challenges your palate and brings fireworks of good taste to your delight. Keep searching friends your are not missing anything here but good atmosphere. My posts are honest and not meant to hurt businesses if you would like another review Wokker change for the better!

These guys have great pork belly and pad Thai noodles! I'm definitely coming back again. Give them a shot if you're visiting the conservatory.

Google
Wokkers has done it again ladies and gentlemen, Asian-Texan fusion for the win! Deliciousness on all levels; brisket egg rolls & brisket pad Thai, oh my. Service is phenomenal. At the conservatory where there’s a bar and lots of space to dine in for the family or on date night this is definitely the move!

Went to Wokker on 8.4.24 and placed an order for their brisket egg rolls. They come 4 to an order and costs $8. The owner of this restaurant really needs to re-train their staff on what should and should not go out to their customers whenever they're finished preparing the food. My egg rolls were over fried and dry. Absolutely horrible to think this is acceptable. I couldn't even taste the brisket. Heck, I'm not even really too sure what's supposed to be inside the egg rolls other than the brisket. Really disappointing experience as I've had Wokker before at their downtown location.

Google
Got the cowboy chicken, the breading was nice and crispy but the chicken was bland. In my opinion the bbq(ish) sauce did not compliment the dish.I have to admit it was an underwhelming experience

Google
Pad thai was terrible, would not recommend, service was friendly, but friendliness doesn't satisfy the taste buds. Noodles were overcooked, tofu was mushy and the shrimp was not fresh and way too salty. Would not go back. No bang for the buck, for the price I could have had something quality. Disappointed.

Yelp
Service was amazing, Sisco took care of us. And the chicken pad Thai was fire. Overall nice place

Yelp
This willer location is tucked away in a food hall in the galleria. My partner and I chose 3 different spots to get food from and this was one of them because we wanted something that was not deep fried. The service from the guy was great! Nothing to note he sold us on getting both the protein options. The only thing about the food though was that the noodles were left to be desired. I think the noodles of the pad Thai were a bit over cooked. Leaving the sauce to be over saturated rather than staying in the noodle, the shrimp taste was just a bit off my partner was telling me. However the pork belly was super delicious Smokey melt in your mouth good. Really saved the dish, he gave us a nice portion of it too, because the issue with these food halls overall is high price low portions.

Yelp
I was hoping to try their noodles but they were out when I was there around 9pm. So I got their orange chicken with the fried rice and some chicken & greens dumplings. They had alot on their menu too. I gave my order and was given a buzzer. The wait was maybe 5 minutes so not long at all. The food presentation was really nice. I really loved the grilled i think mandarin in the meal. That was a nice touch. There was this green item that I was a fan of so I removed it. Other than that it was a good fulfilling meal.

Yelp
We got the fried rice with smoked brisket. The brisket was pretty flavorless, tasted like it was cooked with maybe a teeny amount of salt. Our friend likes the brisket pad Thai here, so maybe the brisket was just off today. The fried rice was decent - I liked that it came with a fried egg and kimchi. If I were to eat here again, I would pick a different protein (not brisket) and ask for extra kimchi. Or try the pad Thai like my friend recommended.

Yelp
Wokkers was my pick for my first visit to the Consevatory and I was SO disappointed with what they served me. I spent $20+ for a rice bowl with chicken and fried egg and spring rolls and this was by far the worst Asian inspired meal I've ever eaten. First of all, the serving size was minimal. It was like going to chipotle and then giving you 2 scoops of rice. It was cold and dry. The chicken was lukewarm and for $14 a plate. Honestly I want my money back. And the egg rolls were any 'ole basic fried rolls with sweet chili sauce that they purchased frozen and sold for $7. I saw plates going out which looked really appetizing but if I was you, the other places here more worth your hard earned coins!

Yelp
I've been a fan of Wokker since I use to work downtown and walk to their Prarie location. Unfortunately, I can't say it was a consistent taste at this restaurant. Couldn't really put my finger on it but the taste of the pork in the pork belly rice I ordered just wasn't good. Like it tasted like it was possibly going bad? It was also pretty tough. The brisket fries were good so I mostly ate that. The service was fine, there were just two guys since the restaurants have small spaces in the conservatory, so they were really busy.

Yelp
This is such a good late night spot when you are craving asian food. I used to go to the food truck that would come to UH campus late at night. We ordered the Wokk Fried Rice Bowl and added Pork Belly for an extra $5 as our protein. The pork is super thick and juicy with a nice char. The fried rice is super flavorful and pairs well with the fried egg + kimchi combo. We also ordered the Bonito Brussel Sprouts. These are packed with flavor! The brussel sprouts are super crispy and flaky. They have pickled raisins and onions stir fried with brussel sprouts and the bonito flakes on top. The sauce that is used is so delicious and makes me keep eating more! In general, the staff at the Conservatory are super nice and attentive. They had a DJ that was playing upbeat music and the dim lighting made it a fun night out.

Yelp
I can back because it's sooooo good and the customer service is great. If you have Cisco taking your order you're in good hands. We got the rice bowl, the orange chicken bowl, and the brisket egg rolls (sooo good)... everything Cisco recommended was once again great! Ugh I love this place and it's really cute. I will be back because the food is good and so is the customer service

Kaylaaa ..

Yelp
Shrimp and fried rice was amazing and Cisco had very nice customer service. I highly recommend and I will be coming back!

Oralia C.

Yelp
The best orange chicken and steamed rice we've ever had!!! It was so good! Cisco was awesome! A really cool guy that knows the menu and was able to tell us about his favorites and recommendations the service was outstanding! The ambiance is chill we had a very good time at the conservatory. Wish we lived here in Houston but we were just passing by and so glad we stopped by! I will 100% recommend the Wokker they definitely know how to cook! Cisco thank you so much and thank you for wishing us well in our travels! Keep it up! You're a really cool dude!!!

Yelp
I tired this for the first time, and I was pleasant surprised. Foodhalls can be hit or miss, and this was a hit. I ordered the pork belly plate with an egg and a side of the brisket egg rolls. The plate was great; crispy pork belly, garlicky rice, but the egg was a bit overcooked. The egg rolls were good, but nothing to fuss over. I've had friends tell me they are better at one of the other locations, so I'll definitely give it a try. The new conservatory location is much closer to me with plenty of seating. I can see parking being an issue during busy times, but there seems to be additional parking in the back of the building. Overall, the service was quick, and the cashier was super friendly. I visited around noon on a Sunday, so it wasn't super busy. I definitely plan to go back and try the other locations!
