Timeless Nights, Global Legends & the Perfect Picnic Wolf Trap has always been one of those venues for me — refined, relaxed, and effortlessly iconic. Over the years, I’ve seen an incredible range of performances here, from pop nostalgia and world rhythms to pure musical mastery: ABBA, Gypsy Kings, Lionel Richie, the legendary A. R. Rahman, and the breathtaking vocals of Shreya Ghoshal. Truly global. Truly special. This past August, though, was a first: Back to the Future with a LIVE orchestra — and it was magical. Watching a beloved classic while a full orchestra performed the score in real time made every scene feel richer and more immersive. Familiar moments hit differently, in the best way. We made a whole evening of it — packed dinner, a bottle of wine, lots of fresh fruit, and cheese, spread out picnic-style on the lawn with friends. Warm air, good conversation, clinking glasses, and that unmistakable Wolf Trap feeling where culture meets comfort. Wolf Trap remains unmatched for summer nights done right: concerts, cinema, orchestras, picnics, and memories that linger long after the final note. Classic venue. Cultured crowd. Effortlessly place to be.

Our recent visit to Wolf Trap National Park for the Harry Potter concert was a mixed bag of delightful and disappointing moments. First, the positives: The venue itself is wonderful. The seats on the ground level were fine, offering a clear view of the stage. One of the best aspects of Wolf Trap is the ability to bring your own food and enjoy a picnic, a feature that truly enhances the experience and is something we greatly appreciate. The overall vibe of the crowd was fantastic; it was clear that everyone there was a huge Harry Potter fan, and it was great to share that collective feeling and excitement. However, the main event fell short of our expectations. For the Harry Potter concert, the live performance was meant to accompany the movie screening. Unfortunately, it was difficult to distinguish between the sound from the live orchestra and the sound coming directly from the film's soundtrack. This made the experience feel more like watching a movie with a large group of people rather than attending a live orchestral performance. The lack of a clear, distinct sound from the band was a bit of a letdown. Given the long wait times and the overall experience, we were left wondering if the concert was truly worth it. While the atmosphere and the shared excitement of the crowd were enjoyable, the primary reason for attending—to hear the live music—didn't fully live up to its potential. It's a shame, as the concept is brilliant, but the execution in this case was lacking.

Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts was the dream of Catherine Filene Shouse. She felt strongly about the performing arts being accessible to people of all incomes and ages. So to that end, in 1966 she gifted 100 acres to be protected as a Park. Along with the land she donated the funds that would be needed not only build a Performing Arts Center but also create a Foundation to steward it into the future. The Foundation was set up in 1968 and the inaugural season was in 1971. Born in 1896, Mrs. Shouse was “a keen believer in the power of the arts to help create a stronger society, and a pioneer in creating career opportunities for women. She was the first woman to earn a master’s degree in education from Harvard University and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977 for her global philanthropic and educational endeavors.” Even though the project began in her early 70’s, Mrs. Shouse remained very much involved in leading the Foundation for 25 years, until she passed in 1994. Her list of accolades, appointments, and honors speak volumes about how much she put her money where you heart was in terms of the Arts. I’ll show a list here because they’re too numerous to name, but let's just say that when you visit, you must take in all the wonderful information about her philanthropy, passion, and legacy. I think this quote by Mrs. Shouse actually captures her vision the best, “Wolf Trap has a destiny. It reaches out for people asking that they restore their spirits at its theatre, on its hillsides, in the woods, or by the stream. And it can grow in scope and meaningfulness to the extent of man’s imagination and support.” Named for the farm that Mrs. Shouse purchased in 1930, Wolf Trap is a successful partnership between the Foundation and the National Park Service that brings programming to the Filene Center, Children’s Theatre-In-The-Woods and spaces in between. In fact this partnership was the first co-management of its type between the National Park Service and private management of the over 400 sites in the NPS system. The Park can be visited any time of year, but if you’re looking to see a performance, you’ll need to check the schedule from May to September. 29JUNE2025 Such a great treat during the summertime. Superb sound all around. Another hot spot for me and the groups that perform here on this stage is a wonderful experience. This is the best venue, better than any DC venue. It is almost like the Ruth Ekherd Hall in Clearwater, FL(luxury life) minus the A/C. Something for just a solo trip, friends, and the family. Not a bad spot in this arena. Nicely nestled against the beautiful trees of NOVA. So many events are held here. Take an evening out here I truly recommend it.

I would give this venue 5 stars if everything wasn’t so expensive here. Beers start at 14, baseball hat 40, t-shirt 50. Seeing James Taylor before he finally retires was a very nostalgic experience.

We attended the Memorial Day concert at Wolf Trap, which marks the unofficial start of summer and is held every year — and best of all, it’s free! A few tips from our experience: Make sure to arrive before 6 PM to find a good parking spot. The place fills up quickly, especially on a holiday weekend. Also, definitely try to sit inside the Filene Center if you can — the lawn area may look fun, but it’s full of insects that can really affect your comfort during the show. The music performance was absolutely fantastic — a great way to celebrate the day. And the fireworks at the end were stunning and well worth the wait. Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for a fun, festive, and patriotic evening!

This is the most welcoming outdoor concert venue I have ever been to. You can bring your own food and drinks, within reason, but they also have great options if you want to purchase theirs. The venue itself is great and has only gotten better with age!

This is such a very special place. Choose the artists you want to see and the venue they are playing, and you're good to go. Such a great venue with free parking.

I've had the pleasure of visiting Wolf Trap several times, and it never fails to impress! This unique venue combines the beauty of nature with outstanding performances. The atmosphere is simply magical, especially on warm summer nights. The park itself is surrounded by lush greenery and offers plenty of outdoor space for picnicking before shows. The seating options are great, whether you choose the lawn or the more traditional seats. I recommend bringing a blanket and enjoying the show from the lawn for a laid-back experience. I enjoyed straight no chaser and had a great experience meeting the group after the show

I went to Wolf Trap to experience a John Legend concert and had the best time. The place was huge! It was so nice and the Wolf Trap was absolutely gorgeous. I would recommend you wear your walking shoes, because the parking is a ways away from the stage. Also pack your patience, because after the show, it took a while to get out of the venue area. I'll be back.

I came here for a show and was able to get parked and come in on time, without having to be an hour ahead!! Despite it being crowded parking isn't bad. Its been a long time since i came here but i was pleasantly surprised by the venue seating as well. Ill definitely keep a look out for more shows here or in the area next time I'm around.

The next time I go to this place I'll be early and I'll be leaving even earlier because the parking lot exit is a complete shit show. Outside of that, I had a good time on the lawn seeing Erykah Badu.

Last night, my wife and I had the pleasure of attending the Avett Brothers concert at Wolf Trap, and once again, this incredible venue proved why it's one of our favorite places for live music. From the moment we arrived, everything about the experience was seamless and memorable. The natural beauty of the park setting is unmatched--rolling green lawns, towering trees, and a stunning open-air stage that somehow manages to feel both grand and intimate. We've made an annual tradition of seeing the Avett Brothers here whenever they come through, and the acoustics never disappoint. Their harmonies echoed beautifully under the stars, and the energy of the crowd was electric without ever feeling overwhelming. Wolf Trap staff were friendly and well-organized, making entry and exit smooth, and amenities were clean and easy to access. One of the best features is the option to bring your own picnic if you're on the lawn--something we saw many others enjoying, and we may try next time. There's truly nothing like listening to live music in a national park, surrounded by nature and fellow fans. Wolf Trap offers a perfect blend of culture, community, and conservation. Five stars, every time. We're already looking forward to next year's show!

Our first time at this stunning venue to see the Avett Brothers. We chose to park in the Barn parking lot and walk a half mile as we'd read it was easier to get out after the show from that parking area. Parking was free and it was an easy walk. Everyone working at the concert was so pleasant and I loved that you can bring in your own food and drink, although not to your seats. We sat in the box seats -- fabulous view and covered in the case of rain. The acoustics were absolutely amazing. Bathrooms were plentiful and I loved the water filling stations around. The next morning we went back to hike some of the trails on the property. Note that the trails are not well marked. We wandered off on some random trails for awhile. Google is your friend, though. The trails are on google maps and got us back on track.

Wolftrap is such an awesome concert venue! Ed have been several times to see The Avett Brothers and they always sell out! Free parking, but also super easy to Uber to or take the shuttle from the McLean Metro. Food and drink options are plentiful, but you can bring your own food and drinks too! Huge lawn section (if weather cooperates). Acoustics are phenomenal and large screen TVs help highlight the artists! Prepare to walk up hill from the parking area, but golf carts offer assistance, if needed. Overall, awesome venue!!!

Such a beautiful venue! Happily returned for the first time since Covid for The Roots w Black Thought and Questlove, the Digable Planets and Arrested Development. What an amazing, energetic and fun show. I literally danced and sang for 3 hrs! The musicians were tight both individually and collectively. Acoustics were fab and the crowd happy and chill. A special memorable evening. Thank you! It rained and I had orchestra seats which I appreciated. Please note that assigned seating opens 30 minutes before the show begins. Exiting the parking area after the show took less time than I recall in the past.

This review is for the Children's Theatre in the Woods. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but there were clear signs about where to park. It is a little bit of a walk to the ticketing/will call booth and to the stage but it is all stroller friendly which is great when you have little ones in tow. Once you make it to the seating area there's a designated space to park your strollers. Only water and milk are allowed once you're seated. The performance was lively and engaging. Afterwards there were plenty of picnic tables to have a snack in the shade. You can even snap a picture with Wolfie, Wolf Trap's official mascot.

From as early as I can remember growing up in the Northern Virginia suburbs, Wolf Trap has been a phenomenal venue! This past month I was able to see two performances with family - Wilco and Shreya Ghoshal. Both were phenomenal. Fantastic sound system that left everyone in the mood to get up and dance. Free parking and plenty of space to roam around is such a huge bonus. If you are in need of a summer event in the DMV, I highly recommend you check out a Wolf Trap performance!

Delightfully friendly staff across the board. And this forest-surrounded, picnic-friendly location looks like heaven! Good audio, and although the screens could have higher resolution, they effectively help people in the general admission area see and understand what's going on. I had a lot of laughs watching talented people perform La Boheme on a lovely midsummer evening. Tasty fries and drinks at the snack bars too! Chair rental was worth the cost ($15 each IIRC). Would love to return!

I've been here so many times over the years, as it's only a couple miles from our house. It's by far our favorite concert venue in the country! Pro tips for lawn: Get there to line up in the back Meadows area to line up at 5:30 pm for a 8:00 pm show, as doors open at 6:00 (90 min before). New for 2024 is the Meadows snack venue open that sells concessions one hour before doors open (5:30).

I go to Wolftrap at least once a season. I love this venue. Especially last night the performance was exceptional. The night was perfect, not too hot or cold. Diane Reeves is a true professional singer. Greg Porter is such a good performer. He brings out the humanity in you. I feel so many emotions when I listen to him. What a nice older crowd in the Pavilion. The crowd truly enjoyed the show as well. My only critique is the long walk up the hill. God knows I need to walk, there has to a better way. I saw buses but I don't think they were giving rides up the hill. The golf carts were taking people up the hill.

During COVID, I used to visit Wolf Trap to be outdoors and stay away from people. Four years later, I am happy to report that I am back -- and this time it's for a celebration of theatre and arts in the woods! Every week, during the summer Wolf Trap puts together a world class roster of family friendly performances featuring music, dance, storytelling, puppetry, and theater in a beautiful shaded setting. You will need to hike a short (little kid friendly) trail to get to the ampitheatre in the woods. For easy access, follow the signs and park at Encore Hill. There are bathrooms, picnic spots, and even a small stream along the way! Today, my toddler and I watched a performance of Grammy nominated performer Uncle Jumbo and I have to say...this man had no business going so hard on a Thursday morning children's activity. It was a blast, and it was so cute to watch all the little kids dance and sing on stage. I'll be back later in August to catch a show and can't wait to bring some a wine picnic along (for more adult fun). Wolf Trap is truly a treasure in our own backyard.

If you didn't know, this is a National Park and they have wonderful performances. If you plan on sitting on the grass, go early to grab a nice spot. It definitely is a nice place to bring food/drinks for a picnic. If you reserved a seat inside the theater, you can't have drinks or food except what is bought onsite. This is definitely a family friendly place.

The covered Amphitheater at Wolf Trap is a great venue. The good was the show. We saw a live recording of NPRs News Quiz Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. The show was hilarious. Peter Segal is a great host and the comics they had brought their A Game. The bad, it was end of July and a heatwave had come through. We had to walk a half mile from parking to our seats and it was 95+ degrees. Luckily we bought water bottles. A great time though!

Love this place. Have caught several concerts here. They are expensive, but Wolf Trap is a special venue. There aren't aisles upon aisles. You are closer to the entertainer or group. Sound quality here is truly amazing. Roger Daltrey of the Who, was the best I've experienced. The seats cost more than the lawn. Have done both. Yes you'll see more in the seats, but the sound quality is fine on a blanket in the lawn area. Parking all I can say, is to get here early. The US Park Police are superb with traffic control. By all means go to an event here. This is a place you'll want to do, as I consider it the DC areas best !

We were not here to see any concert but it looks like this place can be a great venue. Nice place to take a walk. Huge parking lot.

What an absolute ripoff going to Wolf Trap has become. To purchase tickets "early" with other members, you need to pay $100. If you plan to see multiple concerts/shows in a season, the "pain " is spread amongst those shows. However, those on a time or monetary budget might be able to see one or two events. . Now, a $100 deposit is required even before you pay for the tix if you want to purchase at first availability. Isn't that just flipping hunky dory. As far as I know, Wolf Trap is a National Park....it should be accessible to patrons. I for one, am on disability retirement, and dropping $100 is more than just an inconvenience. I recommend people try the Birchmere in Alexandria. Theres no down payment necessary before paying for tickets, which are very reasonable. Give me a break, National Park Service!

Still love Wolftrap. Still attend multiple shows. The newly renovated Meadows Overlook is beautiful. They replaced the old structure with a new 3 story building with and elevator to make that side of the park more accessible to everyone with mobility issues. They have a larger fancy bathroom plus family/handicapped restrooms. They added a downstairs bar and expanded the food stalls. You lost a bit of the lawn area but your view was blocked by the Filene Center on that side.

Concerts at Wolf Trap are great. Enjoyed Gary Clark, Jr concert. Concert started at 8:00 pm on time. No problem with parking and it was just a short walk to the venue. If needed, there are shuttles to get you to the venue after parking. It was a wonderful chill atmosphere. Park was clean. Had a quick bite to eat at the Meadow Commons. Ordered the chicken fingers with fries. Chicken was crispy and juicy and the fries were tasty too

My wife, teenage son, and I came here on a Friday evening in August 2023 to see Juanes and La Santa Cecilia perform. The wooden pavilion is a lovely venue to hear live music outdoors. Although the orchestra seats can be a little pricey, it's well worth being inside the pavilion to see and hear the performers up close. Be sure to arrive at least 1 hour before the performance start time as it can take a while to find parking. Also, it provides some cushion of time for a restroom stop and concessions (if you need a snack). Both are located on the left side of the pavilion. Although the lawn permitted you to bring food and drinks, only bottled water is allowed in the pavilion itself. Also, be aware that there are no fans or air conditioning - so if it's a sultry, humid evening, be prepared to bring water and dress comfortably. Leaving the parking lot can take a long, long time. Be sure to pack your patience! This is a unique venue for live outdoor music performances.

Came here to experience the music by Joe Hisaishi. Came around 45 mins prior to show start time and parked on Trap road facing Dulles toll road after seeing others do it. Road signs say no parking but we didn't know where it started or ended. Honestly was the best way to park since the lot gets so packed and police direct traffic. Even in the rain, it was super quick and easy to get out. Just have to walk 10 minutes. The show was fantastic. The venue was also grand and was able to accommodate so many people safely. I think they should install fans on the ceiling. Perhaps they don't have a fan as to not interfere with the sound. It was a very hot and humid day and no wind. It would have made the experience more pleasant.

I've only been to Wolf Trap for concerts. I've never explored the park side of it. Concerts are held at the Filene Center, a beautiful outdoor amphitheater. I love the wooden architecture of the venue. I feel like I am in a tree house when I'm sitting in the orchestra section. During my most recent visit, I saw Blue October and Goo Goo Dolls. The sound was amazing when both bands performed. I had an amazing experience and great view of the bands. When I was looking for tickets, I was thinking of getting lawn seats, but luckily those were sold out so I got orchestra seats. The lawn area is not big enough and does not provide a great view of the stage. It's first come, first serve. You're not guaranteed a view of the stage. As I was walking around, all spots on the lawn area were taken. It was so packed, that people were sitting on the grass facing the walls of the amphitheater, with no view of the stage at all. If you're going to see a popular band, splurge and get seats or show up right when gates open. The bathrooms are a little old and need renovation. The faucets are the sensor type and half of them didn't work. There is a restaurant or two before you get through security. I've eaten at one of them years ago, but not recently. I got food at the concessions this visit. They have burgers, hot dogs, empanadas, wine, etc. I had a hot dog that came on a pretzel roll for $10. It was a pretty good hot dog. There is plenty of parking. Getting out after the concert takes forever because it all bottlenecks.

We love the Wolf Trap venue, although we now live in Annapolis, which is quite a drive. We went to see John Fogerty. The dilemma we have with Wolf Trap is where to find the best seats. We were able to get orchestra seats on the left side, Row S, seats 55 & 57. We were sitting up on the hill before the show, having our picnic and another couple there confided that they had seats under the pavilion but preferred to sit outside, so they could better enjoy the music. Only the lower portion of the lawn seats below the sidewalk have a view of the stage, and you dont have big screens to view from most places on the lawn. So, we took our assigned seats under the roof before the show started. The opening act was Hearty Har, the band belonging to two of Fogerty's sons. From our seats under the left side speaker (where the left side of the stage was partially obstructed), their music was just NOISE. We were uncomfortable. It was better when Fogerty himself came on. We prefer searing under the pavilion for musicals, classical music, or lower key events, but for harder rock acts, it is too close and too loud--the acoustics are not right.

VENUE The amphitheater is absolutely beautiful, and the sound resonance is incredible for being outdoors. The wooden architecture at the Filene Center is simple yet intricate and meshes well with the surrounding park. If sitting on the lawn, you can bring your own food and drink (including alcohol), but concessions are also available. CHECK-IN PROCESS Security is located at the entryway with scanners and random bag checks. A given, no sharp objects (e.g. pocket knives), pepper spray, etc. are allowed in the park. Tickets are then scanned at the following entry point. BATHROOMS Several bathrooms are situated near the entrance of the venue and are enough that the queues are usually short. PARKING Free parking is available across various lots. If you are parking, I would recommend arriving an hour early to find a spot as the lines can get quite long since the road leading up to the venue is single-laned (especially for sold out or popular performances). I would recommend get dropped off by per se Uber/Lyft instead.

A wonderful concert venue and a national park all rolled into one! With ample free parking, decent concessions, and no bad seats in the house, Wolf Trap is the perfect summer destination for an amazing concert. Give it a go!

Wolf trap is a great venue that has a nice intimate feel with a good size lawn and plenty of seating if desired. They best thing is that the venue offers a wide array of performers so chances are you will find something you like. We recently came to watch Black Violin which was amazing and I highly recommend. The venue staff is very helpful and super friendly. One of the best parts here is that parking is free and you can get in and out multiple ways so no huge delays which is really great. We sat in the pavilion section in one of the "box seats" which provided great views and easy access. One of the best aspects here is that you can bring in your own beer/wine and food! Note that you cannot take that into the pavilion though, just the lawn. Definitely will be looking for more chances to visit again soon.

The place was as great and wonderful as always but Paul Simon was pitiful. I recognized 4 songs. All of the others were obscure tracks from mediocre albums. What an absolute let down. Easily the worst concert I've been to. Artists - no matter how famous should perform what the audience came for, not what they threw together at the last minute.

NO exit strategy is apparent this year! Sitting in same spot for 45 minutes in parking lot - it's never been this bad!

An excellent venue for concerts and an amazing place for walking! Multiple trails and paths for walking makes it one of the best places in NOVA for a walk. On top of all of that, parking and walking is FREE!

I came here for a Sunday afternoon concert. Parking at the venue was rough going in and even rougher getting out - I've had better parking experiences at Jiffy Lube Live. Be prepared to sit and wait. It's also a bit of a trek to the actual pavilion area. Going through security was a breeze - they don't have a strict bag policy here. I was not impressed with the lawn situation. The lawn is small and you can barely see the stage. At 3pm in the summer, it is HOT and miserable on the lawn. We had covered seats (thank goodness), but as the sun was setting, we could feel the heat on our backs. Maybe the experience is different for an evening event, but my recommendation is to pay for seats vs. lawn. No complaints with the sound quality. We had rear orchestra seats and could see the front stage fine, but the side screens inside were too high to be in our line of sight. I do highly commend the staff - we came with a service animal and the staff was super mindful and accommodating. They had protocols in place to make sure you got to your seat and were tended to if needed. Kudos to the staff for such a pleasant experience!

Absolutely love the space and the options it provides you. From seats, to lawn blankets, to lawn chairs. Also love the option of bringing your own food and drink and/or you can purchase food there.

This venue is awesome. The wood construction is just beautiful. I understand it was remodeled about a year ago. Came here with friends to see Little Big Town. They knew the ropes to get in and out so it was a breeze. The lines to get in moved quickly and there are numerous bathrooms. Attendants were very pleasant and helpful. It never seemed crowded to me. Everything flowed nicely. They let you bring in a cooler for drinks. Soft drinks, beer, and wine are fine. You are restricted to keep it in certain areas. I highly recommend this venue if you have an opportunity to attend.

Perfect location for outdoor concerts! Easy to navigate, get in and out! The staff is amazing! Bathrooms are clean and plentiful! Sound is amazing! I love Wolf Trap!

We always enjoy seeing performances at Wolf Trap! The Filene Center is a great place to see a concert, and it never disappoints! Even the lawn seating is situated well so that everyone should be able to view the stage. I like that coolers can be brought into the venue, but that there are also food and drink options. Arriving early and picnicking is a great option, too. I highly recommend Wolf Trap as a place to visit. Just keep in mind that parking and leaving after a concert can take awhile--so plan accordingly!

Truly an idiotic setup for online ticketing ONE account has nothing to do with ticketing! The second account is for tickets More hassle than it is worth. Remember, tho it is a national park, those that pay $1,000's get special access Why not rename it: Trump park?!

Such a wonderful venue!!! We had the best time listening to Trombone Shorty and people watching. The weather was wonderful and made for a perfect evening with family and friends.

National Park Service venue for the performing arts. I don't think there's any thing I can add to this review that hasn't been said by others. If you're fortunate enough to sit here on a summer evening with friends, to see an act that want to see, you're fortunate enough.

We are new to the area and we're thrilled to find out we live within walking distance of wolf trap!! They have wonderful performances scheduled throughout the year and host free events too like the Memorial Day kick off and the holiday sing a long.

One of the coolest places I have been all things considered. Usually not a concert goer- but in terms of the limited places I have been this was a very laid back atmosphere which is right in my wheelhouse. ***MY MAIN TIP*** is to NOT park in the general lot or permit parking, but to turn around and cross over the bridge and go into the additional parking lot to the left (will be signs) and walking across the bridge and into the park. Trying to Uber after is chaos - everyone trying to do it, rates way high and it's a big log jam after the concert. What's cool about this place is there are several seating options - from lawn seating, to inside box seats, and upper auditorium seating. The inside of the venue is still outside and really cool looking. Plus - the menu area and food options are incredible, with an open bar. Prices are what you would expect

Wonderful place to see a show. I saw a production of Swan Lake, with Misty Copeland dancing as lead, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The lighting, the acoustics.... Everything. Afer the sun went down, we could hear all of the crickets chirping as the production continued, and nature's soundtrack only served to enhance the whole "lake" effect of the production. It was very cool! I decided to take Metro to avoid the hell that is rush hour traffic. The shuttle was waiting at the station when I arrived, and a short 10-minute ride later, I was at the park. The shuttle is $5, round-trip. When you board the bus, they will give you a wristband that you must wear and show to the bus driver on your return trip. As soon as the show is over, head straight to the bus! I cannot emphasize this enough. There will be large crowds that you have to weave through, plus those buses get crowded very quickly. Adding to that, Metro closes early now and you do not want to tempt fate by hopping on the last train... especially if you need to transfer. The staff at Wolf Trap were all really nice and incredibly helpful in helping me to find everything I needed. There are several concession stands for beer wine and spirits, as well as food. The park offers travel cups for an additional $5, which allow you to take your beverage into the seating area. However, food is not allowed in the seating area. Unfortunately, I did not see any places to sit down and enjoy my food, so I had to eat it on the way to my seat. The concession stands offer a wide variety of food items including hot dogs, pretzels, quinoa bowls, empanadas, wraps, sandwiches, chicken tenders, and soft serve ice cream. They also offer a decent selection of locally brewed beers, red and white wine, sparkling wine, and rosé. The seating area was pretty comfortable overall. The seats are comfortable and there's a reasonable amount of space between yourself and the person next to you. The aisles are also wide enough that you don't need to stand up every time someone needs to walk past. Now, if only they could do something about people talking during the performance... In all, I had a fantastic time, and I look forward to visiting Wolf Trap again.

Most people know Wolf Trap as an outdoor concert venue that hosts all the big names. However, it's more than that. It's the first and only national park dedicated to the performing arts. Since its a national park, there's much more to the grounds than the main concert venue. There are small stages throughout the property including one in a historic barn and a children's theater in the woods. There are hiking trails, tables for picnics and a stream for children to play in. Even when there aren't concerts, the grounds stay open for people to enjoy nature.

A national treasure. As the only National Park for the Performing Arts, Wolf Trap is a one-of-a-kind attraction. Wolf Trap Foundation has partnered with the National Park Service for a winning combination. Major upgrades during the last year when most other concert venues shutdown. Wolf Trap has performances almost every night during the summer in the Filene Center from popular music to rock and roll icons, aspiring artists, to opera, dance and comedians. They have programs especially for children. They have a vested interest in teaching the arts to underserved children. In the Fall, Winter and Spring, you cand still go the National Park, only to a different venue -- the Barns. If you are visiting Washington, take time out to visit Wolf Trap. Really good food choices available on site. Or you can bring or purchase a picnic meal, sit out under the trees before the show or buy lawn seats and go in to enjoy your picnic. Bring your own wine. What's not to like about that. Whatever you see, I am confident you will not be disappointed. Wolf Trap is a serene place among the trees. A beautiful music venue. I sat in the General Seating area on the Lawn. This was for the John Fogerty concert. One can rent a reclining seat for $12 or so. It took a little bit to understand how to use it, but once you get the hang of it, it's a good seat. You get to meet other people on the lawn. One was nice enough to offer me a glass of wine. I accepted. Had some nice conversations with some others. The acoustics were excellent. They also have a big screen to view the stage, so one doesn't need to bring binoculars. It was overall an enjoyable evening.

Well managed and maintained. Clean and very safe. This is a perfect place to take family, friends, your spouse or a date to watch and enjoy beautiful music, plays and a multitude of other performances. Parking and huge crowds are managed very well. Just a beautiful setting in general!

Uhhhh, I understand this is a great venue, but what I saw was a complete money grab. $40 to watch a movie, from 100 yards away, obstructed, with horrible echoing sound to the point you can't understand a single word spoken or even tell if the band is actually playing or you're just hearing the soundtrack, which is stupidly played over the band. The kicker, we paid a lot, there were people another 50 yards behind us who could see about 20% of the screen and 0% of the band. Everyone was complaining well before intermission, kids wanted to to leave. It's an old movie that we've seen 100 times at home. This experience didn't add anything. I'm fact it's took away from a movie my son once loved, but never wants to see ever again after this show. Whoever booked this should reconsider because it's the first show I've seen at wolf trap that makes me completely lose faith in them. Garbage through and through. All in, we spent over $200 at the on site restaurant fermented pig (buffet, pretty good but overpriced) and nearly $300 on tickets. The experience was worth $100 tops, and all the kids said they'd rather watch it at home and order pizza

What a great outdoor venue that's not too far from the city. I was surprised to find out that you can bring your own booze and food to eat on the lawn. You can also buy it there for a price. For those with lawn tickets, def bring a chair and/or blanket to sit on. Minus one star for not having a clear section for rideshare drop off/pick ups and extremely limited views of the stage from the lawn area.

Not an issue with Wolf Trap which is a nice venue, I am spreading the word that if you are heading to Wolf Trap in the future, please be aware of The Fermented Pig policies before ordering. I placed a picnic order for a concert which got cancelled; they took all the money and are not offering refunds saying they have no control over the performers. This policy is not clear (might not even be) on their website/facebook. If something happens, they will keep all of the money.
