Rooster & Owl Opens on 14th Street With Customizable Four-Course Menu | Eater DC

"A flower farm in Virginia where the couple once catered weddings, Wollam Gardens repurposed winter refuse into the plant-filled centerpieces that help make Rooster & Owl’s dining room feel alive." - Gabe Hiatt

I had the honor of traveling from Pennsylvania to photograph an intimate destination wedding at Wollam Gardens. The staff went above and beyond for my couple when they had to unexpectedly reschedule the week of their wedding. The venue was able to accommodate and reschedule my couple within a month of their original wedding date. From start to finish the staff was incredible and even in November outside of their peak season, the venue was stunning in every way. They worked seamlessly with the planner, caterer and rest of the staff to create a magical and stress free environment for my couple. Their build your own bouquet was a gorgeous and whimsical touch fitting perfectly with the theme of the venue. The grounds were perfect for wedding photos and there was enough space for guests to mingle, dance, and enjoy a variety of activities during cocktail hour. This was my first wedding at Wollam Gardens but I hope it isn't the last. Thank you for an incredible experience for myself and my couple.

I recently shot a weekend wedding at Wollam Gardens and CANNOT speak highly enough about the venue and the staff! It is a STUNNING location, plenty of places and backdrops to take portraits of brides and grooms . The staff were so helpful during the weekend and the flower arrangements they created were ASTONISHING! Wollam Gardens is one of the best wedding venues I've shot a wedding at and I've shot over 250! You can't go wrong in choosing this place.

Nothing short of magical. I came to the farm for the Hot Blossom Music Festival and was blown away. These gardens are absolutely beautiful and sprawling, the perfect backdrop to the venue we watched the musicians play in. Hydrangeas, zinnias, peonies, sunflowers, and so much more growing here. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable as well.

We ordered bulk flower buckets from Wollam Gardens because we had a friend designing our florals. All of the flowers were so beautiful and smelled so lovely! After we submitted our inquiry, we received a spread of the flowers they thought would be available at the time of our wedding so that we could indicate our preferences. The whole experience was very fun, and everything turned out so beautiful. Plus, it made us feel good knowing the flowers came from a local farm!

Grab a picnic lunch on the way and a bottle of wine. Breathe in the beauty of Gods creation!! Surprised my wife with a springtime drive to Wollam Gardens for a relaxed lunch and stroll. A bit early in the year to see the colors and blooms 💐🌻🌺🌸 . Staff were amazingly friendly and clearly love what they do 😊.

I got married at Wollam Gardens at the end of September, and I could not be happier. The venue is stunning, the people are incredible, and the feel of the venue just leaves you smiling. Everyone at Wollam was helpful and SO accommodating. We had to change the ceremony location last minute due to rain, and they pulled out all the stops to make sure that the change felt like an upgrade, rather then a last minute weather decision. Our point of contact was always ready to chat, and had a great list of local vendors that we could use. This was her last wedding season, but Arrin was probably the most kind, warm, and helpful person we could have possibly asked for to help us through our wedding planning process. This was how the entire staff at Wollam was, however, so no matter who you end up working with, you'll be well taken care of! We also elected use Wollam for our florals. You will not be disappointed if you go this route! They are completely reasonably priced, and create stunning designs. Claire was a dream to work with, easy to communicate with and so generous in her time and advice. The installation we ordered was stunning, the table flowers were stunning, the bouquet was incredible. I felt like I was in a dream. I would recommend Wollam to anyone looking for florals or a wedding venue. They made our day incredible <3

Such a quaint, lovely place! We've stayed here on two separate occasions for weddings we were photographing nearby. The area is beautiful and the staff is very friendly! Big thumbs up!

Wollam Gardens is magical. Everything and everyone was just perfect. The flower fields were full of colorful dahlias, they had a greenhouse full of eucalyptus (it smelled like heaven!), and most importantly, Bob (the owner) treated us like family. He personally welcomed us, gave us a tour, gifted us some hand-picked dahlias on the house, and just overall was SO warm and welcoming. He clearly loves what he does and it was a joy to experience 🥰 …heck, we got to talking for so long, all of a sudden it was DUSK! PS - The drive out to Wollam Gardens from DC/Arlington is well worth it, so don't let the distance you!

Yelp
Wollam Gardens often sells at farmers markets, so I was delighted to have an opportunity to visit the farm. We went down to go get flowers and the staff was fabulous. They let us roam through the farm while they threw together a custom bouquet. The land was beautiful as was the customer service. Such a lovely and unforgettable experience.

Yelp
Purchased a bouquet of mixed flowers at a DC farm market last month; Wollam's flowers are beautiful! Very pricey, in my opinion, in comparison to what I've seen at other farm markets. They really need to lower their prices a little.

Yelp
I DO NOT recommend these florists for a wedding event. They are reasonably priced but the customer service is terrible. 1) Communication is horrible. It was ok in the beginning but as it got closer to my wedding it was increasingly difficult to get a hold of Jen, the floral coordinator. It took me two months, multiple calls and emails, and eventually calling the farmer to get a hold of the wedding floral coordinator. About 2 weeks before the wedding I was finally successful. When I did speak to her, she only briefly apologized and made excuses about getting her number changed (although it was still the same one I had) and then my emails going to her spam. 2) I emphasized my white on white scheme, with minimal greens, and overstuffed vases multiple times. Some of the arrangements were clear glass vases not the milk glass I was promised, a couple mason jars that I explicitly said I HATED, some of the greens were wilting, and the were definitely not overstuffed. There was also Baby's Breath filler in the arrangements that I also said I absolutely did not want. These things might sounds silly because all in all the flowers were fine, just not what we had agreed to. But if you are a bride or have been one, you know how stressful everything is and how important customer service becomes, especially when you are spending so much money. IF YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED, ITS NOT WORTH THE STRESS!

Yelp
Joe came through big for me when I needed a specific flower. He did everything he could to make sure things turned out beautifully, and they did. The flowers brought so much joy into my home and I could not have done it without Wollam Gardens. Can not recommend them highly enough.

Yelp
I am a landscape painter, self-taught. I needed reference photos for painting, and asked if it would be okay for me to wander around and take pics to paint later (I'll probably do it in the winter). Because light is so much better in the morning for painters and photographers, I asked to come early in the day. When I called to ask permission, whoever answered was so nice. On the day I came, they let me wander around and take pics for a good while. I said hi to everybody (and have a new friend on ig). My family used to own a farm and nursery in PA, and it was my first job, so I know how much work growing flowers is. You are basically on-duty 24/7. Plants react to the people caring for them - if they are loved, they grow better. I also know plants don't like people trampling on them, so I was super careful. The people who work here are the best. The reason the flowers are so lovely is because they are well-cared for; even the chickens are happy. I really appreciated their kindness and being open to let me just come and take pictures. (Of course whatever I paint will have the name of the Gardens in it.) You have to ask permission, and also be aware there are irrigation ditches and spots you shouldn't walk at all. There are water lines and row edges - it's a farm. I was extremely careful to not come close to stepping on anything. Not for city slickers. But it's such a beautiful place. When I see their blooms at my farmer's market, you can be sure I will be buying from them!

Yelp
I was very happy to find Wollam Gardens. Having locally grown flowers for my wedding was very important to me and I was even more excited to find they were well within my budget. I ordered 2 small arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres, and loose flowers for my wedding. The flowers were beautiful, and I couldn't have been happier! Jenn did an awesome job helping me choose my flowers, communicating with me and accommodating all my changes. I would highly recommend Wollam Gardens for weddings and other special occasions!

Yelp
I ordered bulk flowers for my wedding from Wollam Gardens and then made my own centerpieces with friends. Having local flowers was important to me, and the bulk buying option was very affordable! They arranged for me to pick them up at the local farmer's market, which was very convenient. The flowers were BEAUTIFUL and they worked with me to find flowers that worked for our color scheme. I picked the flowers up on Thursday and they held up well for the wedding on Saturday evening. I'm so glad I used Wollam Gardens!

Yelp
Their flowers are BEAUTIFUL, and very reasonably priced. I got the centerpieces for my wedding here and was really really happy with them. They were just simple wild flower bouquets. I got a lot of compliments from my guests.
