Wonderful beer, gorgeous little spot, a definite must stop for any beer connoisseur!!
Be sure you have your ID. Cash is preferred. When we went, all beers were $5 glass.
On the day we went, they had seven choices available: Landbouw grisette, Instinctive Travels dry hopped saison, Tractor Pull strong ale, Vale biere de garde, Collaborative Danger wild dark ale, Postman spelt pale ale, and Lars unhopped unboiled. They were all very lovely, and reminded me very much of the kind of farmhouse offerings you'd get at The Commons in Portland. I know when people think farmhouse they often hope for "sour", they're not doing that here as far as I can tell.
Seating is outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas; there is no where to sit inside. During inclement weather I'm told people can huddle together inside the very small space. The very friendly blonde lady working the door said they're hoping to expand the inside of this restored "shed" and farmhouse to include indoor seating and bathrooms (currently, the only available restrooms are the honeybuckets outside).
This is a working farm; we saw people meandering out into the orchards, even though the W&P website explicitly forbids this, so if you go, please be considerate and only walk around the brewery and graveled areas, DO NOT wander out into the orchards! And do NOT park out on the street, it's a fire hazard, you must park inside on the gravel area provided.
They do not serve food, but there was a basic little cart serving burgers, and you can bring food from the surrounding area and eat it at the picnic tables. We brought BBQ from Storrs, went perfectly with the darker beers!
The only negative we experienced were the two men behind the counter. As another reviewer mentioned, they weren't the most welcoming. But hopefully they'll get over that and warm up to the people who are enjoying their beer.
So if you like trying unusual and well-made beer, you definitely should hit up this cute little place at least once.
