The Biggest D.C.-Area Restaurant Openings in July 2025 | Eater DC

"Opening Thursday, July 10 just off U Street, this first D.C. location of the unconventional Wonder food hall offers dishes from celebrity chefs such as Michael Symon, Marcus Samuelsson, Bobby Flay, Nancy Silverton, and José Andrés, with ordering via screens or the Wonder app. Patrons can get items like a pizza from Brooklyn’s Di Fara or a Samuelsson-certified fried chicken sandwich on one tab; Wonder’s culinary team prepares everything on-site. The concept plans rapid local expansion with future locations planned for the West End, College Park, Cleveland Park, Reston, Franconia, and Navy Yard." - Tierney Plumb

I went to the grand opening and am grateful for this new addition to DC! Quick and attentive service, inviting and clean atmosphere, and the food was excellent. I ordered from “Kin House” and loved every bite. I definitely recommend Wonder and will be coming back again to try the other restaurant options.

Tonight we stopped in for the first time and got a pizza from Detroit Brick Pizza Co and a dessert from The Hungry Gnome and it was exactly what we were looking for! The service was excellent and food was quite delicious at the right price point. This is truly a great spot for a group of people who can never agree on what to eat; the options are endless.

I got the chance to try out @wonder which just opened on 14th street. I had a meal that was regular on day one (and took an extra 90 minutes because they were so slammed with orders) and another order that was exceptional so I'm definitely open to giving it a chance. The Texas bbq was exceptional and some of the best pork belly I've EVER had. I also definitely had like 3 of these banana puddings from @magnoliabakery which were delicious 😋 I was expecting more of a food hall like the Square or Union Market but Wonder is more like a ghost kitchen for multiple concepts in one. It doesn't deliver to my area yet but more are supposed to open. It has opportunities to add to the community if it chooses so I'm hopeful for how it will evolve and not end up like Foxtrot. DC is a great place to start new food concepts but we have high standards!

I ordered a salad from another store nicely set this one was all mixed up the only good things was no extra charge for Avocado they were out of some ingredients. I also ordered Babaganosh Mediterranean dish way too salty and small potion .

Probably the worst drunken noodles I’ve ever had in my entire life. I wouldn’t even call it a glorified ghost kitchen. It seems like they don’t even have dedicated chefs, but young kids reheating food in a big but weirdly empty kitchen in the back? The noodles, which were not even the correct type for the dish, were as hard as a rock and seemed like they had just been taken out of storage of some sort — they were crunchy! The dishes were so indelible that my girlfriend and I had to take them home and cook them in a wok with soy sauce to even make the noodles edible. Just shockingly bad.

First time trying Wonder and it was great! After seeing other cautious reviews, we intentionally picked something that’s less risky. We ordered the beef bowl from Yasas, the Mediterranean place for pickup. The food came out fresh and well assembled. Beef is more like steak quality and actually tender, although too big for bite size. All the spreads and sauces are delicious with Harissa and Zhong being my favorite. 2 toppings sold out but we’re able to swap for something else. Overall the food is great and I’d order again. The staff is extremely kind. I forgot to add a pita to my order and they went back to get me one. Thank you! I’ll give another try and upgrade my review if I’m getting consistent quality.

Checked out Wonder for a group meal and it was fun to be able to order from different restaurants. They said 12-22 min for pickup and it was ready in 11 min! We tried Yasas, Hanu Poke, and Limesalt. The hummus and pepper feta dips from Yasas were TINY, and the pitas were also small, but they were only a dollar. The taste was fine, probably wouldn't order again. The poke bowl and burrito however were massive and both really good. Both the salmon and tuna in the poke bowl were so soft and fresh! Not sure if we'll make this a regular thing (and definitely wouldn't dine there), but overall decent.

I can only review the take out option but I love the concept of variety with one order through the Wonder app and no delivery using the app. I ordered pizza and Chinese food and enjoyed what I ordered, looking forward to trying the other options.
