Wonder Bagels Review - Jersey City - New York - The Infatuation

"It’s called Taylor Ham rather than pork roll here, but as long as that doesn’t offend your North Jersey sensibilities, this is where you should go for bagels in Jersey City. There are five locations, and just know that if you go to the Downtown on a weekend, you’ll probably have to wait behind a long line of 22 year-olds trying to remember where they left their credit cards, phones, or dignity the night before." - Matt Tervooren

Google
Classic bagel spot in New Jersey! Wonder Bagels is a popular place known for its fresh, dense, and flavorful bagels. They offer a variety of spreads and breakfast options, and the place usually stays busy with locals grabbing their morning bite. I tried a plain bagel with cream cheese for the first time. The bread felt a bit hard — maybe that’s how bagels are supposed to be! Taste was okay for me, probably because I’m not used to it yet. But it was a new and interesting experience. Might try a flavored one next time!

Google
Had the Taylor ham egg and cheese on an everything bagel. Delicious. Good people. Good service. Would recommend.

Google
Wonder Bagel always has a line, but it moves quick. The service is fast, friendly, and chaotically organized. Location is easy and convenient, but the food is top tier for the price. Their meat, egg, and cheese bagels are killer, I always go for the sausage egg and cheese on an everything. Two bagel sandwiches for $14?! You can’t beat it and the flavor….it is a steal.

Google
Wonder Bagels is definitely a Jersey City staple, and for good reason. The ingredients in my breakfast bagel—bacon, egg whites, and hash browns—were on point, especially the hash browns, which added a perfect crispy touch. The bagel itself was a bit dense, like it hadn’t risen quite enough, but still a really solid bite overall. Ordering, though, was chaotic. One of the staff, a shorter woman with dark hair, had trouble communicating clearly, which made things even more confusing when it came time to pay and figure out whose order was whose. She got flustered when we asked for clarification since we weren’t sure who was supposed to pay and so she aggressively yelled at us, but the rest of the staff was friendly and seemed on top of things. All in all, Wonder Bagels is a great spot if you’re after a classic breakfast sandwich with quality ingredients.

Google
This is my go to Bagel shop whenever I am in Jersey city. The Bagels taste so good with the different varieties of cream cheese. I would suggest trying the jalapeno cream cheese, veggie cream cheese and the garlic and everything bagel. Their orange juice is fresh and hits the right tangy note(neither too sweet nor too sour). A must visit.

Google
Being here from the Midwest we wanted a bagel from New York area. We are camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park here in Jersey City. Looked up on Google for best nearby bagels and this was it! They did not disappoint. Nice big fresh bagel with creme cheese! Yum yum! I am added a photo so you can see how big!

Google
Did not follow directions on my order got my coffee black I don’t drink coffee black so that ruined my whole day already and you call to tell them about it and no one picks up the phone you pay for something that you don’t get. It’s kind of messed up.

Yelp
ran a 5k in jersey city so naturally had to get bagels after. got the rec from a friend so was hoping for something delicious. i got my go to salmon lox capers on a regular bagel and it was good - but nothing exceptional. i was also surprised by the bagel size i found them to be quite small so i wasnt super full after. service was quick and it was a cute little shack with outdoor seating. def a solid spot when ur trying to get in a carb heavy bagel!

Yelp
Ordered my Monday morning breakfast late Sunday night. Website was easy to use, I picked my pick up time for first thing in the morning. My wife is a Taylor Ham fan and wanted to try the signature bagel sandwich. On my way to the store I received a text that my order was ready. When I arrived it was bagged and hot. Although I like my everything bagels smothered in toppings, these bagels were great! Also got a cinnamon raisin with cream cheese. Cream cheese was thick and cold, perfect.

Yelp
this bagel shop was so good. I got a plain bagel with jalapeño cream cheese and their orange juice. If you're into fresh squeezed juice. Their orange juice is the perfect thing to order and their plain bagel and they're everything bagel are both really good choices to get the weight can be a little long, but I wouldn't say it extends longer than five minutes to wait on your bagels. The employees really need you to say exactly what you want because it can be a little loud in the facility. Other than that this is definitely the best shop in New Jersey and I will be back when I'm back in town.

Yelp
This place was advertised as the best bagles in NJ but overall, I found their bagels pretty mediocre. The bagels are large but they are kind of hard to chew through. The cream cheese was OK but I definitely feel you could've fit more cream cheese in it compared to the size of the bagel. Overall, wasn't super impressed and probably wouldn't recommend coming here to try their bagels.

Yelp
I visited Wonder Bagels in Jersey City on a busy Saturday morning. Despite the 20-minute wait, it was worth it! The place was packed, which speaks to its popularity. They offer an impressive variety of bagels. I tried an everything bagel with jalapeño spread on one side and blueberry spread on the other--both were delicious. Their fresh orange juice is a must-try as well. The service was quick and friendly, and the bagels were top-notch in quality. Highly recommend this spot for bagel lovers!

Yelp
Wonder Bagel - Bagel Bliss Beyond Imagination! If you find yourself daydreaming about bagels, then Wonder Bagel is the place to turn your dreams into reality! Despite my New Year's resolution urging me to eat more from home, the irresistible allure of Wonder Bagel's creations led me to break my own rules. Using UberEats, I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of amazing. Wonder Bagel has truly mastered the art of bagel-making; their bagels are a heavenly combination of fluffy and soft that's hard to put into words. The plain bagel served as the perfect canvas for the delectable bacon, egg, and cheese ensemble. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, and I found myself marveling at how Wonder Bagel consistently manages to achieve such perfection. I remain mystified by the wizardry happening in their kitchen - how do they make these bagels so darn good? It's a secret I'm willing to let them keep if it means I can continue enjoying these slices of bagel paradise. Wonder Bagel has once again exceeded expectations, leaving me in awe of their bagel prowess. If you're a bagel enthusiast or just someone looking for an extraordinary breakfast experience, Wonder Bagel is the answer to your carb-loaded dreams. Fluffy, soft, and undeniably amazing - Wonder Bagel has my heart, and my taste buds couldn't be happier!

Yelp
I've been living in Jersey City for 2 weeks now and I've already managed to come here 4 times- that's how obsessed with their bagels I am! Their bagels are perfectly soft on the inside yet crisp on the outside. I got a dozen bagels to bring on a weekend trip and literally ate one of them in the car untoasted and with no spread on it and thought it was still amazing. Their line moves pretty quickly too so don't let that deter you. You literally can't go wrong with any type of bagel from here. My personal favorite is the everything bagel. I will probably be coming back at least another 2 times and also buying a dozen bagels to put in my freezer before I have to move in a few weeks! Also- definitely get their freshly squeezed orange juice! It was so sweet and refreshing, perfect on a hot day!

Yelp
Stopped in to try a bagel. Small shop. Very busy. The smell of fresh bread hits you the moment you walk in. Ordered two bagels and the cashier gave me an extra just because I had to wait a couple of minutes to order. Fresh, hot, fluffy. Really a delicious bagel. Glad I stopped in!
google avatar

Yelp
Our family and Maine requested New York bagels. Since we were starting our journey in New Jersey, we stopped at wonder bagels. What a great group in there. They had a huge selection of delicious chewy bagels. We ordered some for the Car to eat and some to take back to Maine for our bagels starved family. The fresh orange juice was a plus and everything we ordered was perfectly prepared. We would definitely go back in a heartbeat. Just one note, they have a weird way of toasting bagels, and a weird system for executing orders, which I think causes the lines to be longer than they need to be. it seems as though whoever takes your order, finishes it soup to nuts, which means everybody in the place has to be trained on every aspect of making every kind of sandwich. There are some economies there were people who worked in the kitchen and didn't also handle the register.

Yelp
Recommended by a local friend to check out to avoid goin to NY. Came on a Friday morning and there was a line. Got their dozen of assorted bagels for $14 and they said that they have a promo for 1 free bagel with a dozen so I got that toasted with cream cheese and they charged around $4.50 for cream cheese. Definitely good with it toasted. I'm no bagel connoisseur but it was sure tasty. But I say if you have time, go and make your way to NY for the iconic bagel shops. Quality and cream cheese serving is better

Yelp
Not to be dramatic but this is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had ! This is my new go to bagel spot! If the line out the door at 1030am is no indication that this is the spot to be at, once ur in the door you are quickly gotten to and served your food as soon as they can! They're so attentive and nice there! Energy is iconic. It gives that home town bagel place energy. I was drooling eating this breakfast sandwich. I'm usually not a Taylor ham person but they made it amazingly well. 10/10 will be back! Also not really a place to sit down and eat there and indoor seating and there's some seats outside but that would only be great in summer and spring ! Overall, I'm excited to come back again and again and bring all my friends

Yelp
I went to Wonder Bagel Saturday morning and ordered two plain bagels with scallion cream cheese. What they gave me were day or two old hard as rock, stale bagels that were absolutely inedible! How can an owner of a place be so petty as to do this to a customer?? I threw them in the garbage (as they should have done on Friday when the did not sell) and I will never go back to that place. They should be ashamed of themselves.
google avatar

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stayed up the street for a week and made it to Wonder bagels twice. I had lox and cream cheese On an everything bagel and she had a salted bagel with jalapeño CC both times. The sandwich was the best I've had and she loved her bagel as well. Staff was efficient and we got our food promptly. It's a great place for locals and tourists and we'll worth five stars.

Elle L.

Yelp
Amaaaaazing food and even better customer service! 10/10 recommend. The fresh orange juice is so good as well
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
Wonderful! I got my normal order (Lox on an everything bagel w butter, capers, and onions). Couldn't have been fresher or more flavorful! Fast service, good prices, and a great view. What more could I ask for?!
google avatar

Darlene H.

Yelp
The place to go if you want bagels made fresh by jersey boys. No complaints- they're fast, good portioned, and always piping hot. Some bagel varieties get sold out asap so come early if you're not hungover
google avatar

Vicky L.

Yelp
I've changed my mind about wonder bagels. I recently had a roast beef with mayo on a garlic bagel and it was out of this world. Very fresh (bloody) and moist roast beef with mayo on a beer fresh and chewy garlic bagel. So good. I think this location has way better bagels than the other one
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
Wonder Bagel is absolutely disgusting. The bagels were stale, and the cream cheese tasted spoiled. The place was filthy, with dirty tables and crumbs everywhere. The staff was rude and unhelpful, making the entire experience worse. Save your money and go somewhere else. Not worth it at all.
google avatar

Mimi C.

Yelp
Wow. Soooo good. I didn't think it'd be back here day after day but here we are. Chewy, but with the right amount of bite when you chew through. My favorite was the cinnamon raisin. It can get a little hectic in here but the cashiers know what they're doing and tracking even if you aren't! My fav used to be tompskins square bagels but these definitely replaced them!!!
google avatar

Joyce H.

Yelp
Just average bagels. I wouldn't come here again and it's not worth the line. Do yourself a favor and take the PATH 2 stops into NYC and you can find better bagels for the same price (and larger too). Another reviewer said "Their everything bagels (on more than one occasion) are more like 'a little bit' bagels." and I completely agree with that statement 100%. The flavor was just not there and to be honest almost supermarket, pre-packaged quality.
google avatar

Basma N.

Yelp
This place is quite popular, and deserving of its popularity. The line ups are long especially early morning. If you decide to order from here I recommend ordering in advance and picking up. It's a small, crowded shop and can make you feel overwhelmed. Plus sometimes orders are forgotten, or the employees forget if you've paid or not. I've tried a variety of basic bagels with different cream cheeses and all have been really good. The bagels are fresh and thick and chewy. My favorite bagels I've had so far. I tried an egg salad sandwich, as pictured, and it was amazing. It was so creamy and you get a decent amount of egg. It's huge! I was only able to finish half and I saved the other half.
google avatar

Paul W.

Yelp
Amazing bagels with good malty undertones, crisp exterior and chewy interior. Friendly and helpful staff. I started the morning right with a toasted everything bagel and tofu spread. No need for dairy because I'm not a baby cow. The extra poppyseed/everything bagels I picked up for my roadtripping crew for real upgraded our friendship. When fresh, these babies are good enough to eat plain and untoasted (talking about the bagels, not my bois)! Note to vegans: they don't use honey in their bagels and offer several tofu spreads. If you're not yet vegan and wonder what the problem is with dairy cheese and eggs (and other animal products), check out the documentary watchdominion.org.
google avatar

William F.

Yelp
Warm bagels that are exactly what you wanted. There's a long line, but it goes pretty fast
google avatar

Brian D.

Yelp
Wonder bagel has some of the best bagels in the Jersey City and Hoboken. There's all the flavors you grew up on plus an array of spreads inclusive of the typical to the vegan friendly. The service is speedy and efficient. They've been dealing with the morning weekend crowds for years, and know how to handle them. With that said, if you're coming here on a weekend morning, do anticipate a wait. Finally, there's not much of an area to eat, so your order will have to be takeaway.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Very disappointed. I order at least once a week and this time was a very unpleasant experience. My order arrived more missing 1/2 ld of cream cheese and one bagel was green(StPattys). I called to complain and was answered by a manager who was having a bad day. He basically stated it's not his problem and there's nothing he could do. When I explained that he needed to correct the issue he insulted me by sarcastically asking if this wad the first time I'm ordering online. This is unacceptable behavior and whoever this person is should not be working in the restaurant service industry. He is a disgrace to Wonder Bagels and Jersey City.
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
Great bagels with an excellent consistency. Their menu is large, too, so don't think this is just a spot for bagels. That being said, get a bagel. I love my sausage, egg, and cheese. The line can get very long during the busiest times, so be prepared to wait.
google avatar

Meghan M.

Yelp
We were recommended these by local friends and we thought they were just okay. "A step above grocery store bagels" is what my travel companion rated it. They were good, just not what you would expect for what this area is famous for.
google avatar

Jason D.

Yelp
Great NYC deli chain. Love that they have Taylor Ham / Pork Roll on the menu. A favorite regional breakfast meat of mine that should be more well known across the country! Order at the front, wait to have your name called, typical. Crowd of construction workers getting their lunch time beers and burgers to corporate types getting late morning breakfast sandos and smoothies. Order a Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a roll with salt pepper ketchup!
google avatar

Melanie C.

Yelp
A solid bagel spot Well priced and solid bagels! Some bagels much better than others (egg bagel is great). Gets busy at peak times so be prepared to wait on weekend mornings. Small outdoor seating area with 3-4 tables
google avatar

Kiran Y.

Yelp
Tasty bagels and hot breakfast Great location , great staff and yummy breakfast Been here a few times - just reviewing now.. There's always a line here on the weekends but they serve fast and it's great for pickup too Hot toasted bagels with different cheese spreads / eggs on a bagel /sandwiches / wraps are all good and tasty.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
Overall the lox and the sausage egg and cheese were very tasty and the bagels had the perfect crust and chewy middle. 4 stars because the prices I was charged was more than the website stated by a few bucks!
google avatar

Jake H.

Yelp
It may not look like much, and there's only standing bars around the wall for indoor seating, but there are a couple tables outside and the bagels are made fresh and are truly outstanding. The turnover was the best dessert my son has had in the last year. Excellent customer service. I'm so glad we checked it out. These people are the real deal and a great way to experience bagels in Jersey.
google avatar

Jersey T.

Yelp
Ordered from wonder bagels about 10 times. Every order has arrived working 30 minutes. The orders are always correct and the bagels are great! Best bagel shop in Jersey City!
google avatar

Caleb W.

Yelp
Great bagels. Visited NY/NJ with my wife, and it was the best breakfast we had. It's kind of chaotic inside getting the bagel, but stay patient because it's worth it. We both got bagel sandwiches and they were great. Planning on going back before we leave!
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Overall, the bagels here are fine. They hit the spot and do the job. In any other state they would be 4 stars. But comparing against NJ standards, I give the bagels 3 stars. There were a few outdoor seating areas but the interior is small. Had fast service and enjoyed their veggie cream cheese.
google avatar

Joe L.

Yelp
Wonder Bagels makes flat out some of the best bagels I've ever had. I'm pretty sure that is not a controversial opinion if you ask anyone else who's had their bagels fresh and steaming. This is probably the only place in JC that I would tolerate having a line out the door and around the corner - they're legit and hustling hard behind the counters. I was once tasked with taking care of breakfast at work - I deal with some picky traders who think they know the best spots in Brooklyn or Staten Island for bagels. I stopped by Wonder Bagels and grabbed 3 dozen of these freshly baked bagels, hopped on the Grove Path into the city, and dropped them off for people to munch on. First there was reluctance, a little bit of ribbing, some comments about the certainty of Staten Island bagel supremacy, then begrudging respect, and finally kudos for really damn good bagels. Now, that was just bagels and cream cheese. For personal consumption, my go tos have to involve bacon, sausage, Taylor ham, and sometimes a mix of both, with ham and cheese. If I could have brought 3 dozen of these bad boys into work, Jersey City might have gotten a couple of new residents. For now, this is just something me and my fellow Jersey City folks get to enjoy.

R Z.

Yelp
The bagels are fine, but nothing to write home about. Better than bagels in other places but not standouts for NJ/NYC.
google avatar

Devang P.

Yelp
Small little bagel shop that was near my cousin's apartment. Usually there's a line out the door but today it wasn't too bad. They had a crowd but food came out relatively quick. Got a bagel sandwich with pork roll, bacon, egg and cheese. The bagel itself wasn't bad but there are definitely better options in the area. The everything bagel wasn't very flavorful but decent texture. Got a side of hash browns which were a bit soggy. Overall it's a decent place for a bagel.
google avatar

Sasha G.

Yelp
As a New Yorker I've been spoiled with some good ass bagels, shout out to Murray's! As a NJ resident, I've had too many bad bagels. Here's what I think constitutes a good bagel: - Hefty size with hole in the middle - Crunchy crust, soft inside - creamy cream cheese, not too much but not too little Easy, right? Apparently no. Wonder Bagels is wildly popular in Hudson County (not sure if they exist elsewhere) so they've been my go-to spot whenever I crave a bagel. However, as of late I've noticed their bagels are actually quite small, too chewy, and missing that crunchy exterior. The taste is also oddly sweet. I've asked on multiple occasions if their bagel is vegan and they said "yes" because they don't use honey so I can only assume they put too much sugar? Whatever it is, unless it's suppose to be a sweet bagel (shout out to cinnamon raisin lovers), I don't want a sweet bagel. Wonder bagels leaves much to be desired. But if you're desperate for a bagel... by all means, check them out. And if you're a real New Yorker... let me know what you think lol, emphasis on the real. Sorry ya'll.
google avatar

Kelly Z.

Yelp
Pretty good bagels! I ordered grubhub and got a breakfast sandwich, chicken wrap, and fresh oj. Oj was amazing and fresh squeezed. Bagel sandwich was huge, filling, and good. Chicken wrap was jammed with chicken and super yummy.
google avatar

Gino N.

Yelp
Great bagel - awesome food - good service - easy in and easy out. Will return for sure.
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
This place doesn't do it for me! The bagels aren't bad but nothing about them make me want to reorder. The outside tastes like the bagels you get from the supermarket. I wish it has more of a crust on it and a chewier inside. I had an egg sandwich and it was just ok but maybe another sandwich could have been better. I also had a hash brown which was kind of small for the price. The muffins weren't bad and I liked the chocolate chip one. I geniunely wish them the best and I know people like this place but it doesn't do it for me.
google avatar

Benjamin H.

Yelp
Great bagels. Great cream. Cheese is great. Corn muffins. Crumb cake. Great staff. great service. Attractive, repurposing of what it was probably a bank and now a great space. I will come again whenever. I am in Jersey City.

Adam R.

Yelp
These bagels rival any of the best bagels in the US. They are simply fabulous. Freshly made onsite, perfectly cooked exterior, just amazing. Equals any bagel in nyc. Parking is tough. I've heard some of the other wonder bagels don't stack up but this one is the one.
google avatar

Lydia K.

Yelp
Went in for the first time today ordered a couple jalapeño bagels with veggie cream cheese, tomato and cucumbers. Also a breakfast bagel sandwich with bacon, cheese and eggs . We all really enjoyed our food. The bagels and cream cheese was very tasty. The service was great. They have a good selection of flavorful potato chips & drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Bagels are decent. Don't bother getting here when they open at 6am - they never open on time
google avatar

Irene B.

Yelp
I've been coming here for almost 18 years and this place is the absolute best! I get whole wheat everything bagels with different cream cheeses and New York style bagel is incredible. Love the super hard working and friendly staff too.
google avatar

Brice P.

Yelp
Stop. Don't go here. That's the message. Jersey City deserves better. Their everything bagels (on more than one occasion) are more like "a little bit" bagels. There are no toppings on the bagels (see latest pic). The bagels were flat in terms of taste. Beyond the bagels, the eggs are over cooked, potatoes bland, lifeless, and not seasoned (if you've had bad diner potatoes, you know what I mean). Just... don't. We deserve better.
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
Ugh Wonder Bagels, I WANTED to like you. I really did... I gave it a few shots here but the bagels are just too small, they don't understand the concept of "extra cream cheese, and they don't have a great selection of cream cheese flavors. Sorry, I've taken my bagel business to Hoboken.
