Food Delivery Service Wonder Is Opening 10 Philadelphia Locations | Eater Philly

"Planned to open in May at 23 West Girard Avenue, this Fishtown location follows the same food-hall/ghost-kitchen model launched by founder Marc Lore — the billionaire entrepreneur known for creating e-commerce sites like Diapers.com and Jet.com — that pairs rapid, replicable recipe development with collaborations with notable chefs and restaurants. The operator has worked with brands including Bankside by JJ Johnson; Jota by José Andrés (José Andrés also sits on the company’s board); Streetbird by Marcus Samuelsson; Bobby Flay Steaks; Yasas by Michael Symon; Chios Taverna; Walnut Lane by Jonathan Waxman; Di Fara; and others, though the specific Philly vendor lineup will be announced later. Ordering options include the company’s app and Grubhub (acquired November 2024) for dine-in, takeout, or delivery, with fulfillment via a mix of in-house staff, third-party couriers, and bike couriers through Relay (acquired November 2024). The company has partnered with Philabundance to allow customers to add donations to orders, has raised substantial capital (including $700 million in March 2024), and aims to rapidly expand (the founder has stated a goal of 90 locations by the end of 2025). Independent reviews of other locations have been mixed, with critic Robert Sietsema reporting variable quality by vendor during 2024 visits to New York and New Jersey sites." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
It was amazing to learn about the wonder kitchen where you could order several options and multiple restaurants offerings. The concept is unique and cool. I placed an order for detroit style pizza.Although the pizza arrived late, the crunch and the sauce on the pizza was spot on and comparable to the detroit style. I would definitely order this again at this location or any other wonder location.

I am extremely disappointed and frankly concerned about the quality and handling of food at this establishment lately. It seems like the standards have completely slipped. This isn't an isolated incident; I am constantly receiving undercooked food. This is a serious food safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately. More recently, I ordered cupcakes and the situation was even more alarming. The expiration date had clearly been ripped off the packaging. When I called to ask for the date, I was told they couldn't provide it and was given a generic assurance that all items are checked daily for freshness. That answer is entirely unacceptable and frankly sounds like a lie intended to cover up a major oversight. Removing the date is incredibly suspicious and suggests you may be selling expired goods. Your staff is slacking badly, and it's putting customers at risk.

Me and my friend both ordered iced pistachio lattes to go, specifically in to-go cups, but unfortunately they brought them out in dine-in glasses instead. We didn’t want to cause any inconvenience since there were other customers waiting to order, so we just stayed and had our drinks there. The latte was good but it didn’t taste quite the same as the one I had at the UCity location; the flavor was slightly off. Other than that, everything else was great! The location and aesthetic were beautiful; I just think they could improve their customer service by paying closer attention to orders.

It's a unique and great concept for elevated take out service. Our team stumbled on the delivery service while in Washington DC for a conference. We ordered 3 times this week and can't wait to visit another city with this service. My driver was late with our order this evening and sincerely apologized and the Wonder app gave me a credit for the next order. Highly recommend.

I walked inside and Jery greeted me right away (BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER) I expressed to him what I wanted and he assisted me on the KIOSK showing me my different options and inquiring what I wanted and scrolled through the menu to add and remove ingredients of my choice. The restaurant was very clean, no long lines, nice music. The salad was nice and neatly packaged with sauces and plastic ware in the bag along with bread. When I say everything was DELICIOUS 😋 I mean what I say…100 stars. This was my first experience but definitely won’t be my last and I will also refer my family, friends and coworkers.

I haven’t heard of this before although they have other locations. I arrived with the perception that it was a food court. It’s actually just a ghost kitchen. I got a pepperoni pizza. It was the perfect size. The sauce on the pizza was pretty good, it was on the sweeter side. (3/5) I also grabbed a cookie, it wasn’t too sweet and it was a nice size. (5/5) The pricing for the restaurants were pretty average based on the restaurants in the area. I probably would go again to try 2 other restaurants. Overall: (4/5)

Google
Honestly, the food was mediocre at best. Everything felt like it was “missing” something and didn’t have a distinct flavor. I had Nashville hot wings and fries from Wing Trip and a spicy chicken sandwich and onion rings from Streetbird. Visually, everything seems okay (minus the chicken sandwich in a cheap cafeteria wrapper), but taste wise, it was all subpar and I would not recommend. I can’t stress it enough how everything was very bland.

This was our first time visiting and ordering food from Wonder. It was great to see some of the Michelin top chef's menu and dishes ideas under one roof. The taste of the food was delicious. Which is prepared by other chef's around the state. I watch a lot of cooking shows and of of the Chef and Restaurant I heard of. And some of them I haven't but. I'm loving this and I'm a foodie and very picky. You can order from ubereats, order on line, the kiosk and down load the appt to place and order. Wonder should look in put one in North Philly area near Temple University College. Just saying.

Yelp
Great concept! One stop shop for a great selection of cuisines! The coupons circulating right now are awesome as well. The app is user-friendly. Food is delivered and ready for pick-up rather quickly. Surprisingly found plenty of parking spots right outside for pick-up. That being said, the food is not up to par. I've had some of the dishes from the original establishments and there's a drastic difference. Secondly, any dish that had a protein in it was barely present in the dish (ie. bowls and salads).

Yelp
This has so be the worst bbq in Philly. The brisket was inedible. Basically boiled till tough and then rolled in pepper with a huge unrendered fat cap. BBQ pulled pork wasn't pulled pork, think pork belly with large gelatinous chunks of fat and again a small mountain of pepper. Every savory dish had too much pepper and no other discernable spices. Cole slaw also tasted weirdly sour. I think they use pepper to hide food not being fresh. Carrot souffle & corn bread were okay. If you're going to try food here, maybe stick with a vegetarian salad. The store associates were nice, it was easy to order and the store itself has a clean modern look. My food was nicely packaged. It's a shame. I really liked the concept of ordering from multiple restaurants at once but not if I can't stomach most of my order.

Yelp
The pros were that it came incredibly fast! Almost too fast. I live pretty close by but the pizza was at my house 17 minutes after I ordered it... almost impossible. The delivery bike guy was great! I ordered two pizzas, one from Difara and one from Brick pizza (their Detroit' style brand) I used to get pizzas from DiFara when Dom was still alive and the wait was over two hours. This felt like a frozen airport version of that pizza. It was under and over cooked at the same time and had way too much cheese that congealed in a strange way. The sauce had a nice flavor but the whole thing felt like it was made by a robot and not cooked together like a pizza should be??? I am sure Dom is turning in his grave! The spicy pepperoni from Brick pizza also had a nice flavor but something about the crust was more Pizza Hut than Detroit brick cheese pizza. Overall it was worth it for the speed and ease but not for the quality of the cooking. I know this place is basically a ghost kitchen and it felt like that kind of food.

Yelp
Food was satisfactory but pricey. I had a coupon for money off my first 2 orders but since I didn't use it for my first order, I wasn't allowed to use it for the second. Coupon does not explain that. Customer service was very helpful as rep explained why coupon didn't work and changed our order from pickup to delivery. Will order directly from local restaurants in future

Yelp
It's a ghost kitchen. If you like Wofgang Puck or Emeril Lagasse frozen meals you might also like Wonder. It's takeout/delivery only. Seems to be a shortcut for celebrity chefs to open a chain with little to no effort. I had a 30% off coupon; otherwise I'd rather patronize a local establishment. I also prefer eat-in to take out. My "Marcus Samuelsson" fried chicken tasted like frozen chicken tenders with a dusting of a seasoning packet. [Love & Honey is up the street, so I'm better off there when I want fried chicken.] The salad we got was enough to feed two of us for dinner the next day. It was just fine. There's not much nearby to check that box, so they get 3 points for that. If I want a big fancy salad for dinner, this is a decent option I can walk to for pickup. But otherwise, I see no reason to go back for generic food with celebrity names slapped on them.

Yelp
Wonder is a cool concept allowing chefs a space to cook their food. It is basically a ghost kitchen but you can pick from virtually any type of food you want. It's a great concept but the food isn't the best. I think you have to be selective on what you order. Some food will last better than others. The convinence of it is what makes this place great. It is a great option for a night in or if you don't want to cook that night. A great concept that I hope we will see pop up all over I hope.

Yelp
This is a great Idea. This was our first time here. We had to rsvp for the grand opening. Wonder gave out a $15.00 voucher to spend at most of the restaurants. It was so nice to try the different food that they offer. Me and my sister went on this rainy and cold day. I had a cobb salad, banana pudding. My sister order the truffle fries and the classic cheeseburger. Ok let's start with the food my salad was good and it was in a big bowl. The banana pudding was ok. But they let it defrosted and it was soft and the container was wet and it made my bag broke and all my food was all over the ground. The food didn't come out of the container just rolling all over the sidewalk. So I had to go back in the store to get another bag to put my food back in the bag. The young lady went to get me a bag and at first she act like she didn't know what to do. So I had to ask her for a bag. My sister said that her classic burger was ok that id tasted like a nother burger but I'm not going to say the name. You have to down load the Wonder app and place your order to any of the delicious restaurants. My husband and his friend went and they both had a salad one had a cobb salad and add chicken. And the other ordered a ceasar salad and add chicken. The food prices wasn't expensive. They have burger, cheese steak, hot dogs, tacos, truffle mac & Cheese, loaded baked potato, cornbread,Italian, grilled cheese, chicken, pork chop, seared salmon, baked potato, wings, pizza, pulled pork, brisket, chicken tender, veggie pizza, veggie burger, sirloin steak, wedge salad, spinach & artichoke dip, bowl, shrimp cocktail, chicken parmigiana, seafood linguini & fra divol, soda, water, brownies, pie, cookies,. We meet the manger Tyren from New York and her was very helpful in letting us know about the Restaurant and how to work the kiosk and to order on our phone. The young lady help me because my crazy phone was acting up I couldn't get my phone to place a order in the store. But when I got in the car my phone started working. Top Chef help create these awesome delicious dishes. You should go and try it you want be disappointed. @wonderfishtown #wonderfishtown @fishtown @girardave #highlight @wonder

Yelp
I'll just come out and say it...worst pad see ew I've had. The noodles were crunchy/undercooked and they were actually pad Thai noodles. Which was strange because it said the pad Thai was sold out. Anyways, I'm skeptical of this whole chain/operation. The food will be there and the options will be there but how good will it be? Probably not very.

Yelp
I was against the concept of Wonder on principle (ghost kitchen with celebrity chef names slapped onto "restaurants" and a corporation with no stake in the neighborhood), so had no plans to ever eat here and admit my bias from the start. HOWEVER, yesterday on the way home from work, I ordered delivery and was happy to see a new burrito place, LimeSalt. It was the worst burrito I've ever had, all slopped together. All the corn salsa was in the first few bites, all the cheese on the other end, and in the middle was what must've been an entire half an onion's worth of pickled onions in one giant clump. It was... not good. I was surprised that a new restaurant would have such terribly prepared food. I looked up LimeSalt and surprise, surprise... it's part of Wonder. I genuinely didn't know that, and still hated the food. Will do my due diligence in the future when I see an unfamiliar restaurant name pop up and make sure it's an actual local business.

Yelp
What an incredible experience at Wonder Fishtown in Philly! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was both fast and incredibly friendly. Every detail made the visit enjoyable, and I can't wait to come back for more!"
