The Biggest D.C.-Area Restaurant Openings in July 2025 | Eater DC

"Opening Thursday, July 24, this next-gen food hall brought Wonder’s model to Virginia with 20 eateries producing dishes from iconic restaurants around the nation—examples cited include Brooklyn’s Di Fara Pizza, Tejas Barbecue from Texas, and Marcus Samuelsson’s Streetbird—and also co-developed exclusive concepts such as a Greek-inspired Chios Taverna from celebrity chef Michael Symon in Rosslyn. Wonder recruits superstar chefs to lend names and recipes, and the kitchen turns out a wide array of cuisines for on-site dining or delivery; the food hall touts a door-to-door delivery time of 30 minutes or less." - Tierney Plumb

Attended the grand opening this past Thursday. Overall, a pretty decent experience on my end. The staff was super nice and helpful and we received a lot of discount codes that day. I had the pork egg rolls from Kin House and they were pretty good! I'm super excited for this new addition to the neighborhood. I think it's going to take a minute for them to work out some kinks and find their groove. Gotta give them grace as they find their sea legs but I think they'll be a great place for quick, unique, and diverse takeout in one of Arlington's busiest hubs. Welcome to Rosslyn, Wonder. We're happy to have ya! 💚

Imagine an overpriced food court. One centralized kitchen that cooks all the advertised cuisines. Bland and tasteless food. Tried the fried chicken sandwich, could have go to McDonalds and get a better one.

Absolutely delicious food with an incredible variety of cuisines — there’s truly something for everyone! 100/10 experience. The steaks? Mind-blowing! I’ve never tasted anything better — simply out of this world. The pizza is phenomenal, and the salads are just as impressive. The rice and rice noodles with shrimp are a must-try. Highly recommend trying it all — you won’t be disappointed!!!!

Brisket from Tejas: very tender, flavor okay but slightly dry / tasting done without sauce. Mac and greens from Streetbird: noodles overcooked, bland with extra moisture from greens / greens had good texture. Tandoori boneless wings and togarashi fries: ordered six wings but clearly got the bottom crumbs from a frozen bag??? fries were great. Love the separation of sauces/utensils/cold drink. Everything was packaged extremely well.

Was offered $15 coupon to try the food. I ordered a poke bowl that costed ~$16 and you get a generous serving of 7 tiny cubes of Tuna and Salmon. The fish was not defrosted completely so bonus for some salmon slushy. My friend got a $18 chicken wrap that tastes like reheated frozen food. I was curious of the background of the restaurant so read some *interesting* google reviews from their NYC locations. Feel free to try it yourself but I would rather order from a real kitchen. Foxtrot barely lasted here so curious to see how long this one would :) Technically a 1.5 star, .5 star for not paying with my own money.

I have been to wonder 3x since the grand opening and each time it’s gotten better. The employees are always pleasant and helpful. I had a burger from two restaurants and would highly recommend Fred’s over the other options because it was juicy but not fattening, had a nice buttery bun and well seasoned patty. I also enjoyed the truffle mushroom mashed potatoes from Bobby Flay’s restaurant. Overall, the atmosphere was pretty calm, it didnt feel rushed like a fast food place and the app is very accurate with updates on your order status. Definitely give it a try at least a few times to get the full experience. I feel that some people may have 1 bad experience and then they judge a new place based on that which isn’t fair and also impulsive.

My husband and I eat a lot of salads! I admit that my first salad I ordered from Wonder was really bad (half frozen veggies, etc). However, my husband really liked his barbecue chicken salad so I gave it another try. Since then, I have LOVED the salads I've gotten here: Create Your Own, Baked by Melissa's Rainbow (miso dressing, kind of slight dijon flavor, very good), Barbecue Chicken, Chopped Salad, Kale & Romaine Salad (chipotle dressing, very good, not too spicy), Brick Greek Salad (loved the pita chips and mix of cheeses, zesty vinaigrette). All the salad dressings have been especially flavorful). In addition, last night we tried the Detroit Veggie Pizza. It really is a "pizza bread." I personally like more sauce on pizza, but the veggies here were tasty and it was very filling. Toppings: Several of the toppings are not commonly found in salad places. My favorites: mandarin oranges, artichoke hearts, shrimp, fresh dill, etc. So, for us, ordering at Wonder has been a nice break from Sweetgreen (Door Dash), changing up our salads. It was worth it for me to give Wonder another try.

Google
Took almost 45 minutes to get my food which can be understandable sometimes, but on top of that having the food be cold and taste like a microwaveable meal is awful. Save yourself 40$ and 40 minutes and go somewhere else.

Yelp
Wow! I ordered the classic red top pizza from Detroit Brick Pizza Co. I used the Wonder app and everything worked great! The service was fast and the pizza was amazing! I haven't had a Detroit style pizza before and now I am a fan! The pizza looks just as advertised. The taste is better than I expected. The staff at Wonder are hitting their stride as the wait times are short and the place is pleasantly quiet. The app notifications are quick and timely while they update you with order receipts and expected time for pickup. I would definitely get another pizza from Detroit Brick Pizza Co.

Yelp
Great concept; a food hall with many ghost restaurants from famous restaurateurs (Marcus Samuelson, Michael Simon) operating from a shared kitchen space. Ordering can be done on the iPad, website or app. There is a pickup area inside with the name and items on an attached receipt. Tap water and cups are available, as well as indoor seating. My companion got a build your own fajita bowl from limesalt with tofu. Gave it a thumbs up. I had a veggie burger from burger baby. The patty was beet-based and a little salty but meaty tasting. It was very filling and tasty.

Yelp
Found out today was their grand opening and thought I would pop in and try them out! It's an interesting concept where you can order food featured from different restaurants - all from one kitchen. There are kiosks to order from and staff around to assist. I ordered online (pork belly from Tejas Barbecue) and it was ready in about 20 minutes. They call out names for pick up orders before placing it in the pick up area which looked organized and spacious. There was a decent amount of seating - bar and banquette style seating. The space was clean, bright, and modern. My food was good - cooked well (tender and a little crisp), albeit a bit greasy, and paired well with the sauce. Nothing bad to say, but I'm not sure I would make it a regular haunt.

Yelp
The new Wonder Food Hall in Rosslyn officially opened today! I've been walking by this place for weeks waiting for it to open. They've put a lot of work into it to make it beautiful. Personally, I love the convenience of a food hall including the option to have meals delivered. It was about 30 minutes from the time I placed my online order to the time it was at my door. I paid a little under $15 for fries and chicken from Streetbird. With taxes, fees and tip it was about $20. Cheaper than doordash or Uber eats! Honestly the chicken could have been Tyson chicken - although it was delicious. I chose the brown sugar babe sauce and it was a perfect mix of sweet and tangy. However, the fries were the real star - crisp, hot, and fluffy. I could've consumed three orders of fries alone. All in all, I think it's a real fair price for hot food, solid portions, and a variety of options. Can't wait to try some other cuisines and potentially update my rating!

Yelp
This had been the best experience I have had in a while, not only was the food and taste amazing but the timing was perfect the food combinations were amazing and it's such a friendly environment. I really cannot complain. I will definitely be checking them out much more

Yelp
The food is so low quality!!! I was so looking forward to trying here after seeing the photos and ads but was sorely disappointed. Made an account and everything!! It reminds me of the food they serve for public elementary school lunch in the worst way possible. I was so disappointed I made a comparison of the ad vs what we got. It is so bad I would I give it a 0 but I can't so I give it a one.

Yelp
I tried out Hanu poke from Wonder because i had a 50% off coupon and the location is very close to my house so i ordered it for pick up and despite the discount i was definitely disappointed. I got the tuna and Salmon bowl and the fish was quite fishy and almost slightly cooked ? It seemed like the sushi rice was too hot that it slightly cooked the fish which gave it a very unpleasant and fishy flavor. Even then toppings such as the edamame and Persian cucumbers lacked flavor. I really wanted to like this place since i have been looking for a go to poke spot but unfortunately i will not be reordering.

Yelp
So happy that Wonder has opened in Rosslyn and I've ordered from them multiple times now. I tried a bowl from Yasas and two from Royal Greens. They were all were delicious. I liked the cinnamon spiced sweet potatoes from Yasas and the bowls came with a same delicious pita bread. It's small but flavorful! Also love the variety of sauces that they offer but they unfortunately missed a sauce on my Yasas bowl and gave me the incorrect sauce (thousand island instead of roasted sesame) for my Royal Greens bowl. They just opened though so hopefully things will go smoother in the future. I would prefer if they didn't put my sauce inside the bowl and instead put it on the side so that they can fill up the bowl with contents. I think the Royal Greens bowls have more customizability which I like. All the toppings taste delicious and fresh. It reminds me of Roots but is much closer to me. I will be back :)

Yelp
I've tried food from 4 of the "restaurants" at Wonder and found the food quality is between McDonalds and Chipotle. Nothing special. Would be a good option if the prices were competitive, but they're not.

Yelp
This place is likely to close within six months. I got $15 off my first $20 order through a promotion, but would not go back. The vegetables in the hot and sour soup appeared to be reconstituted from frozen or freeze dried. My baked potato was half-cooked with randomly melted and unmelted cheese, presumably from a poor microwave job. Chocolate pudding had a strange texture likely from sitting around, not freshly made.

Yelp
I ordered two dishes from the Thai place. The food was very underwhelming and the chicken was hard and dry. Even with the 50% coupon I got (which can be used twice) and the $5 credit I received for my order being late, I'm not planning to go back. The crappy food just isn't worth it.

Yelp
What a letdown!!! This used to be a beloved neighborhood café, and now it's a soulless ghost kitchen churning out overpriced, low-effort meals. My friends and I tried a range of dishes across all the menus, Chios Taverna, Hanu Poke, LimeSalt, the cheesesteak spot, and at best, the food was mediocre; at worst, it tasted like it had come straight from a freezer. The Greek food barely passed as Greek. We ordered the Gigandes , the keftedes, and two pita sandwiches- the beans were overcooked, the meatballs were mid as were the "souvlakia." The only reason we even gave it a second shot was the $15 coupon, but even with the discount, it wasn't worth it. The poke bowl was sad. We both ordered a double salmon poke bowl and there was a handful of sad pieces of semi cooked fish in the entire thing. Whoever assembled the bowl didn't understand that poke is meant to be raw and likely microwaved it with the rice. They've stripped away what made the original café special: no meaningful seating, no welcoming vibe or service, just a handful of stools and a fridge full of drinks. What used to be a vibrant neighborhood hub is now a glorified vending machine with a checkout screen. With so many good restaurants and a FAR better food hall just up the road (UPSIDE on Moore actually cooks the food fresh), there's absolutely no reason to come here. We won't be back!
