"Christian Wonka has been running this charming restaurant for over 20 years, serving up ambitious, flavoursome cuisine made using regional produce, eschewing all unnecessary frills. The clear and unfussy composition of the dishes, each of which is made up of just a few components (such as cod, Chinese cabbage, orange) make for a winning formula. Asian influences (eg wan tan, tempeh, miso) result in beautiful, well-balanced contrasts. In the evening, a creative set menu comprising five or six courses is proposed – a vegan version is also available. A pared-down iteration of the set menu, featuring some dishes from the evening selection, is served at lunchtime. In addition to various tastefully decorated dining areas, there is a delightful courtyard terrace. The restaurant is easily accessible by tram." - Michelin Inspector

Had a wonderful time. With the 6 courses offer plus wines we were really full which we would never expect to happen. We had meat and vegan menus and both were standing up to the promise of an exceptional experience.

Had a great time at Wonka. They recently got their first Michelin Star, deservedly so, and I'm certainly hoping they keep their winning concept intact. The menu and food was of fantastic quality and really offensively priced; amazing value for money and the dishes throughout were creative, executed with meticulous standard, and overall quite tasty. Quite diverse flavors and flavor combinations that I really enjoyed with a noticeable yet not exaggerated Japanese influence. Wine pairings were great, I particularly enjoyed the Sake pairing for the white asparagus dish. The service was professional and attentive, though sometimes a little too "fränkisch". Anyway, we had a great evening which is evidenced by me mostly forgetting to take pictures.

Excellent choice and original menu hinting at Asian flavors and seasonal ingredients. Nice wine selection, even by the glass. The lunch menu has tremendous value.

Delicious food in a modern (though quite German) environment. We had a set Menue of 4 dishes, small portions, therefore I would not recommend taking only 3 courses, you might leave quite hungry. The mixture of tastes was decent but also delicious- not overdoing it (I had once the impression in a 2 star restaurant in Munich that the chef had taken everything available in the kitchen and put it together- was not good). Sorry, back to Wonka - the weakest part of the menue was the dessert - strawberry swimming in some sake sauce with mint that left me wanting some chocolate to forget. The waitress spoke very very quiet, so that sometimes it was difficult to understand what dish she was bringing . Good wine selection. Overall happy with the experience

Fine dining at its finest. Everything was perfect. The service is great, very tentative but not intrusive, friendly but professional. 10 courses of food came in total with a fantastic balance of flavours and presentation. Wish in hindsight we had ordered the wine pairing too.

The white asparagus dish was our favourite of the menu. Well balanced flavours. We especially liked the possibility of a low/non alcoholic beverage pairing for the menu. It was a wonderful experience

Enjoyed an excellent 6 course dinner with outstanding food. Well prepared dishes, expertly executed, combining flavors playing on both regional and international influences. We found only the cheese course not to be quite to our liking; that lacked the creativity and balance that was so clearly present in all others. Particularly noteworthy were the succulent lamb, the tender and crispy pork belly, and the scallops. And, not in the least, the agreed butter with caramelized fennel seeds and the bread! Ambience is casual but elegant. Service is friendly and professional, perhaps the pacing could be just a wee bit tighter. In any case: excellent standard and food; in comparison to other places, deserving of at least one star of this quality and execution is consistently delivered.
