Clean, open kitchen, Reasonable price with average portions and worst service as our first time here. we were rush if we are ready to order right after we seated and haven’t even look at the menu. Over cooked Chinese broccoli and chicken with ginger green onions was semi dry. bbq pork noodles soup was good. Bbq pork with decent flavor and noodles cooked right. Bbq pork with eggs and soy sauce over rice was better. The best was the potstickers with vinaigrette dipping sauce. Hot, soft with mild flavor and crisp on the outside .

We've gone to Wonton for several decades, even before their "new" location on Elmhurst Road. Today we had Volcano Shrimp, Braised Noodles with Beef Stew, and Sweet and Sour soup. The Sweet and Sour Soup has always been the best that I've had anywhere. We've been pleased with whatever we've ordered. The Beef Stew today was very tasty, but the beef was mostly chunks of fat. I'll still rate everything as Five Stars because of their consistency in consistentlly delivering great food.

The restaurant is not fancy like Yu's or Chef Ping, and the staffs are not friendly. But you had better try your best to accept it and give it a try. Their dishes are really good. If you know they are not friendly beforehand, your frustration should be somewhat controlled. My favorite dishes are - - Shredded Pork & Green Pepper Noodle Soup - Pickled Cabbage & Shredded Pork Noodle Soup - Beef with Broccoli - Beef with Green Peppers & Tomato - Ma Po Tofu - Yang Chow Fried Rice etc. etc. You won't be disappointed with their dishes.

Google
A Gem, Wonton gourmet serves hot fresh food, and the quality is great. The sweet and sour chicken, Kung poa beef, mongolian beef, and moo shu were awesome. I was not a fan of the chicken soup or the Crab Rangoon. The service was good, the atmosphere is casual but pleasant. The drinks are very limited, four different sodas, lemonade, beer, tea. This is the best Chinese restaurant in the area.

Google
We got a chicken dish, pork dish, and vegetable dish which were all really good and to go. My only complaint is in one package there was so much sauce that on the drive back it started leaking heavily into the bag and onto the rice boxes below. I definitely want to come back and eat the actual place for the atmosphere. Food preparation was super quick, quicker than I was expecting. Overall, staff were friendly & quick and food was tasty.

Google
I got served cold duck all I do was drive across the street to my hotel room duck was fridge cold … I am from out of town and the lady at the cash register was rude .. it did not deter me I ordered food house fried rice, wontons and duck… the duck was fridge cold and not tasty … rice was okay and wontons were subpar for this place to be called wontons gourmet.. not worth it according to me

Google
They have a big parking lot, so parking was not a problem. Their service is great. Staff is really friendly and attentive. The place was about 75% full, and we got our food really quick. The tables are well spaced. We got the egg rolls for appetizers. It is a plate of two, and they are good. The hot and sour soup was also good.

Pick up review. If you lived in Chicago for long and been to chinatown, you know the history behind 554. There are a lot of youtube videos about it too, very interesting. In a simple story, Seven Treasure restaurant in Chinatown used to sell BBq pork with fried egg over rice, and the menu number was 554. It also started as $5, I started to get them when it was around $8.25, so pretty late. When they announced they would be closing, I was so sad. I wanted to get 554 one last time, but the news got out, and the line was just unimaginable. The good news was, 554 will live on! This restaurant in surburbs, far from Chinatown, will continue to serve 554 with original receipe. And I finally had a chance to try after long months. It was picked up as I had to bring it back to work and eat. So, there is no rating on service and Atmosphere. I picked up pork egg foo young as well. I'm giving solid 4...First price is $12.50, I think it's expensive for what it is. They are definitely capitalizing on the name 554, its very simple dish. Taste wise, it was very similar, but I think the pork should be a bit more tender, can be more juicy. Obviously, they don't make this as much as Seven Treasure used to do, so I get it. I also did taste more of that chinese 5 spice. I put soy sauce on my eggs to mimic how it use be to served, and that's how it should be eaten. Egg foo young was also not bad, but the gravy lacked a bit of flavor for me. Overall, it's not bad, but I guess you can't beat the original. I definitely should try their specialty, seems like their noodle dishes were popular, so I will try those next time.

Yelp
Since one of my sisters from out-of-state loves the kinds of Chinese food that Wonton Gourmet sells, we go there whenever she and my brother-in-law are in town. So, we have been to Wonton Gourmet many times over the years. Wonton Gourmet is good for groups for a casual gathering. Parking is easy in its own parking lot. The place is spacious, and they can connect a bunch of rectangular tables together to make a long table. Somehow, the place always found us tables when we visited. Food is usually decent and pricing is reasonable. In our last visit, every staff member was friendly except for one middle-age woman. It could be she's having a rough day, or it's just her style of interacting with people. However, a server could really affect the whole experience of the meal. We had ordered fried noodles, Chinese Broccoli and other dishes to share. As usual, we always ordered at least two or more orders of Fried Tofu (with a crispy skin and silky-smooth inside), as they are so good that they are everyone's favorite! Last time, for our individual meals, I ordered a Noodles with Shrimp Wonton & Beef Stew, while my husband ordered a Noodles with Shrimp Wonton and Fish Cakes. He had forgotten that "fish cakes" were processed fish cakes instead of fresh ones. While the bowls of noodles were decent and tasty, the shrimp wonton only had pork inside but no shrimp! Last time, another disappointment was that they didn't have congee. I wish that they actually add congee back to their menu. Even though they have congee on their website menu now, if you click on it, it does not show anything. A Cantonese restaurant like Wonton Gourmet would typically serve "congee, fun, noodles, and rice". Without congee, it's not perfect. I am still grateful that there's a Wonton Gourmet in the suburbs, that would take care of our cravings of Cantonese fun and noodles. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars.

Yelp
Won ton noodle soup with barbecue pork. Same recipe as in the chinatown now defunct Seven Tresures restaurant. Unfortunately, the service is not the same. I'll explain in a minute. It is a 45 minute on highway from my home to here. But I was yearning for the soup! We weren't seated right away and employees just passed us up. Finally we were able to be seated, and please note it was not busy. Upon seating we waited a while before water or even a menu came to us. Not cool again, as it was not busy. Finally we asked about the soup and how we had been getting it in Chinstown for over 30+ years and so missed the soup. It didn't seem to matter to the waitress as I dont think she cared. The recipe is the exact recipe as this is the cousin of the old chinatown restaurant, (Chinatown owner let us know that he would be sharing his recipe here with his cousin). Again, we order soup and my partner ordered with fish ball dumplings instead of pork as he doesn't consume pork. They said it was fine. Unfortunately when we recieved the soup, his had beef ball dumplings and not fish ball dumplings. When questioned they said "oh we ran out of fish ball dumplings'. That's fine and dandy but don't assume he also eats beef. It was jarring that they didn't really care and I was saddened on this. As Chinatown employees always treated us like family. I still got my soup correct and it was perfection. It took me back to Chinatown and that made me smile. Unfortunately due to this fish ball dumplings situation, I have to drop my scores as I believe honesty and Integrity are key to successful businesse's. Would I come back for the soup? Maybe, as 45 minutes on highway was a lot. But who knows. The ambience is nice as the walls are lined with black and white murals of old Chinatown perhaps? But I don't recognize any of the scenery so it may be China? Give them a try, and asi for the soup!

Yelp
Ordered UberEATS delivery. Delicious red roasted pork fried rice, tightly packed to the brim & generous with the meat so there's some in every bite. Also tried beef chow fun with Chinese broccoli, wonderful tender beef in favourful gravy but would have preferred the noodles packed separately for delivery to maintain the crispy bits. Authentic Cantonese style Chinese food.

Yelp
Always great service and amazing food. Whether it's for dine-in or to-go the quality of food is great. This is a staple in the area, can't go wrong with Wonton Gourmet. It's the only spot to get the 554 special.

Yelp
We had lunch on a Saturday recently. There were lots of employees and the place was packed however everything was chaotic as each employee didn't seem to have a specific role. One employee was hostess, waiting tables, doing carry out, etc. We weren't greeted by anyone and the old lady that was up front at the time chose to seat another party even though we were there first. Our server forgot an entree and didn't bring it until we were pretty much done eating. She never came back after taking our order and dropping off food. This place seems to have gone down hill. We will probably not be back and would rather take a drive to Chinatown or other local Chinese restaurants.

Yelp
If you miss Seven Treasures and want to fill that hole inside (iykyk), Wonton Gourmet definitely gets the job done! Their wonton noodles are the same, if not better. I wish they weren't as far away but still glad to have the option.

Yelp
This is our favorite local authentic Chinese restaurant of Chinatown flavors without fighting the Chicago City traffic! This place is a single building with its private parking lot. The place is spacious and they have a glass wall that you can see the chef's making your meal. The decor is very casual. So here are the dishes I ordered often Fried egg rolls, it has peanut butter taste of cabbage, shrimp, and pork love it with their sweet-and-sour sauce. Hot and sour soup size small, it's an actual bowl of soup you can actually have it as a meal or share it with somebody. Shrimp with scrambled egg, jumbo shrimp, and fluffy egg I like it when I put a little bit of soy sauce it comes with a side of white rice. House fried rice combo love their fried rice. It's so flavorful and it has shrimp, pork chicken and it's not greasy. Beef chow fun with chinese broccoli noodles extra crispy, beef is so soft and the Chinese broccoli is fresh steamed. Steam shrimp dumpling with oyster sauce, this is an appetizer I like it has shrimp and wood ear mushroom Shrimp, wonton, and barbecue pork noodle soup this is a big bowl that you can have as a meal or you can share amongst other people. I also like their chicken chow mein and their egg foo yong shrimp. They give you hot tea but you have to ask if you want more they don't give you a tea kettle anymore. And you also have to ask for water as well. People are nice and the food comes out hot. Service is busy so you may have to speak up if you want something or boxes to take home or the check. Bathrooms always seem clean and modern. I may have repeated pictures of my food. It's because I like them that much! I would highly recommend this place if you don't want to take the trip to go into Chinatown.

Yelp
I was so sad when 7 treasures closed and then we were informed this place is a sisters company and serves the same menu! Gave it a try and was impressed! Price is reasonable. And the workers were very nice. It's a lot bigger inside than I thought. They also have a parking lot which makes parking very easy. We ordered food to go and felt like it came out at a reasonable time. Definitely want to come back and dine in next! Definitely recommend for authentic Chinese food! Can't go wrong with their 554! If you know, you know!!

Yelp
Ordered for delivery. The pricing and menu variation was appealing. I wanted comfort chinese food that wasn't your usual Chinese fast food. Wonton gourmet had the bbq pork with option as a rice plate or over braised noodles. I ordered on the braised noodles with bok choy. It was delicious. We also ordered the braised chicken often referred to as (ha nam chicken, salted chicken, or steamed ginger chicken) not many restaurants offer this dish. The portion was hearty, but a little on the salty side. The rice helped balance it; but not enough. Hot and sour soup was as ok, more on the tangy side but it was still thick and hearty. The crab rangoon - you get 4, BUT THEY ARE BIG! They are delicious and packed with filling. No skimping at all! Priced very reasonably, only negative feedback is there was no napkins or utensils provided with our Togo order. We had to get creative eating... and drank our soup from a cup.

Yelp
For a place called Wonton Gourmet, sadly one of the most disappointing aspects of our dishes were the wonton dumplings. We ordered 3 bowls of noodle soup and the proteins (including the wontons) were smallish & scant (in comparison to many other Chinese restaurants we've dined at. The beef stew had only 2 small pieces of beef and about 3 pieces of tendon. Wontons were about 2/3 size of most places. No bok choy or other veggies, and broth was a tad salty. The dry fried beef rice noodle was very good. Service was pedestrian. Ambiance was tall ceiling modern. 4 dishes came to just under $60 so value for quality & quantity wasn't there.

Yelp
Delicious wontons noodles soup. One of the best Wonton places I have been to. Service was decent, just don't expect them checking up on you. Nothing much to say about ambiance other than you can hear each others talk so it's not bad. Highly recommend!

Yelp
When you spend most of your life visiting Seven Treasures in Chinatown, there's a void to be filled when the restaurant closes down. We recently went to Wonton Gourmet with our family for dinner and looking at the menu was so nostalgic. Wonton gourmet has its own parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. When you walk into, the inside has wallpapers of photos I believe of Hong Kong and the street markets that really added to the ambience. We were quickly shown to our tables where they brought out water. Our waiter came by and took our order shortly after and our food came out quickly after that. I had been craving my 554 meal, but I loved it with a runny egg so it was more like porridge. It absolutely hit the spot. My parents and my siblings got the wonton soup with extra shrimp dumplings on the side and rave that it's the best they've had since their favorite restaurant closed. All in all, we had a great time, and can't wait to come back for more.

Yelp
Large spacious dining area. Service is quick and effective. Combination fried rice Good portion size. Meat pieces are generous Beef with black bean and green pepper chow fun The peppers were pretty much raw would be a much better if there sautéed. Shrimp wonton & Shrimp Dumpling Soup Honestly pretty standard nothing stand out or nothing bad as well.

Crystal B.

Yelp
Wonton Gourmet is similar to the old seven treasures in Chinatown. I believe is the son-in-law of the owner of seven treasures they are known for homemade thin noodles and wontons. The ambience is OK. I always get the barbecue pork, with shrimp wonton it's a big bowl of soup with those homemade noodles, barbecue pork, green onions, and shrimp wonton balls. The hot sauce is very hot so I usually put a couple drops of oil from the hot sauce.. I always get a dish to go. I tried to make a different every time so far they all have been very good.

Yelp
I only recently discovered Wonton Gourmet, and I'm thrilled about the discovery! There used to be a restaurant in Schaumburg called Hong Kong Cafe, which fulfilled my craving of Cantonese noodles and small dishes. Since it closed, I haven't been to find something similar until Wonton Gourmet. It's generally fast, so you almost have to know what you want the moment you sit down. My favorite dishes so far include roast duck and shrimp wonton noodle (soup), black bean chow fun (the fun noodle was crispy!), and iced honey lemon tea was refreshing for a hot summer day. There are other rice platters (ie a dish and rice). The only think it doesn't have is congee. That would have been perfect!

Yelp
My family loves coming here all the time! My parents have been coming here for YEARS. They never disappoint. They have great, classic wonton soup with different protein options. They also have a large menu of other dishes.

Yelp
It's been well almost a decade since my last visit ! Well worth trying ! It was extremely busy for a Sunday evening early dinner time (4-6ish). Extensive menu but would highly recommend and suggest trying their signature dishes listed on their glass wall inside. I really enjoy their BBQ pork dishes ESPECIALLY their CHOW FUN. Their noodles are very similar to Lad Nar in the sense they are crispy and soft all at the same time! (Hard and then soft when dipped in sauce) VERY tasty and unique ! Service was attentive as well. Solid and strong B+. It's extremely hole in the wall and only by word- of -mouth!

Yelp
I have no problems taking a short drive for good food. Especially since Seven Treasures in Chinatown closed for good. Wonton Gourmet is family to Seven Treasures. A not so hidden gem located in Des Plaines, IL. Alot of familiar favorites like 554 (bbq pork with 2 fried eggs over a bed of rice with soy sauce) as well as the popular BBQ and shrimp wonton noodle soup. Service is a little slow, especially on days that they are packed. But once you order your food, it comes out pretty fast. Our go to dish is the beef chow fun with chinese broccoli. Make sure to ask for the noods to be extra crispy. Its a game changer!! We also enjoy the soy sauce noodles. The beef with tofu was a little on the salty side, but eating it with rice helps tone the saltiness down. i definitely had to chug a few cups of water immediately after. Prices are reasonable, portions are good. Overall a great place to come for chinese food with a small group or a bigger party.

Yelp
We ended up here because our flight got rerouted and the airline put us in a hotel across the street from Wonton Gourmet. The parking lot was empty and there weren't many people in the restaurant. It wasn't the best looking place when you want to describe ambience. It seems like it might be a family owned business. We ordered the General Tso's chicken, orange chicken and chow mein. We also ordered 3 egg rolls. The food was cooked fresh and very good. We absolutely loved our food. The only thing is my son was confused if he liked the chow mein or the lo mein, and turns out he ordered the wrong one. So he was upset about the chow mein, but it I thought it tasted good. All in all the food was delicious!

Yelp
I went here with a group of friends for lunch on a weekday. One of us had contacted the restaurant days earlier to make sure they would be able to accommodate a group of our size. They said yes, but I'll get to that in a moment. The dining room is modern and upscale and the food is Hong Kong-style cuisine with a focus on old school Cantonese. We were disappointed to observe that the vast menu offers neither lunch specials nor lunch-size portions. The carryout/online menu lists both small and large portions, however everything on the dine-in menu--including apps--comes only supersize. Ditto the soups. There was only one server for the entire restaurant, which was filled. Apart from being completely overwhelmed, she was woefully inefficient. It took her 20+ minutes to serve canned sodas. Then, the kitchen churned out apps and entrees in no particular order. Of two orders of egg foo young ordered as entrees, the first one arrived before any other dish, and the second was nowhere to be seen until nearly everyone had finished their entrees. Requests for missing items had to be repeated several times. At least our food arrived hot. Noodle soups and noodle dishes seem to be the most popular items here. Everything else was hit-or-miss. Our entrees ranged from excellent (soups, volcano shrimp) to so-so. My Mongolian beef, sans 'styrofoam' noodles and swimming in a watery sauce, was somewhere in the middle. My egg roll appetizer, which did not arrive until after I was done eating my entrée, was mediocre. Two orders of pan-fried pot stickers went uneaten because their wrappers were doughy, tough and overcooked. The crab Rangoon was a meh. Chinatown quality not. We were not served tea or fortune cookies. At the end of the meal, we asked repeatedly for enough containers and bags for everyone in our party. But for some unfathomable reason our server would bring only a couple containers at a time instead of all in one trip. Duh.

Yelp
Overall Thoughts: The "sister restaurant" of the recently closed 7 Treasures restaurant in Chicago Chinatown, Wonton Gourmet serves up dishes reminiscent of 7 Treasures such as their signature 554 dish and wonton noodle soup. Unfortunately, they don't have the classic 7 Treasures meat combo dish with crispy pork belly, which was among my favorite things to order there. The prices are also higher than 7 Treasures, though still very reasonable. The service is quick and friendly, and the interior is spacious and nicely decorated. Located next to the 606 bus stop (which departs out of the Rosemont blue line stop), it's convenient to visit even if you're coming here without a car from the city. Food I tried: - Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup with Chinese Broccoli (+$2.75) (4.5/5): The wontons are delicious and taste exactly as they did at 7 Treasures. They're flavorful with thin skin and umami soup, and the noodles soaked up the flavor of the soup quite well. -- Price (relative to peers): 4.4/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4.8/5 Service: 5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5

Yelp
Wonton Gourmet is a hidden gem in the suburbs, it's the closest to ChinaTown restaurants in the suburbs as you'll find. For reference this restaurant is about a 40 min drive from home, which is closer than ChinaTown, but we typically wouldn't drive this far for a restaurant regularly unless it's really good. We try to go at least once a month to either dine in or take-out. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, but not specifically modern or updated, but it works. The servers are attentive and fast. The food is prepared and comes out quickly as well. In my opinion, if you're familiar with or aware of the general customer service and style of service you'd get at most restaurants at ChinaTown, Wonton Gourmet is a hybrid, better service, more attentive than what you'd expect. It adjusts well for suburbans that might be more accustom to more typical chain restaurants in the suburbs. The food is great, full flavored and always prepared quickly and served immediately when ready. They bring out dishes when ready, they don't wait to bring everything out at one time generally. We always order Kung pao chicken and really like their chow fun and noodle soups, which is what they're know for. We'd recommend Wonton Gourmet for sure to anyone looking for recommendations for good food locally.

Yelp
My coworker suggested we try this place if we were in the Des Plains area... This place is awesome: the food was hot, came out fast and full of flavor! We went for lunch and ordered egg rolls, crab Rangoon, house fried rice, braised noodles with roasted duck and sesame chicken. I would not only order all of it again, but I noticed a TON of people in the restaurant got noodle soup (which came out in a huge bowl and hot) so next time I'm ordering that. The service was fast and professional! We had multiple people bringing out food to us and it looks like they turn around tables really quickly. This was the best Chinese food we have ever had in Chicago, I argue similar to the Chinese food we had in San Francisco (which was amazing).

Yelp
My family came here on a Monday night and the place was packed! Both with tables and carry out orders. The place is larger inside with and open seating concept, so it can get a bit loud. This place is your Hong Kong Style "Tea Restaurant." They have classics like cha siu, wonton noodle soup, and all the noodles galore. They also have some Chinese American Dishes as well to cater to the American palate. The Beef and Chinese Broccoli (Gai Lan) chow fun and the Black Bean Beef Chow Fun were great! I loved that they make their noodles so crispy and when combined with the saucy dish makes for a tasty bite! The Crab Rangoons are alright- just mostly cream cheese. The Wonton Noodle soup was good- pretty meaty wontons! Overall, my HK family approves. Probably best Cantonese food in the burbs.

Yelp
It was my first visit to this restaurant. I hope you will tell your staff to be more friendly. They really cook delicious food . But the attitude of one middle-aged woman with dark hair, her attitude was very rude and this is still an understatement! She was rude at my first question about the cool roasting of "Mongolian Beef" she rudely replied, pushed the menu with a photo of this dish saying "Look here" and left. Then she is came back and again rudely answered about my question about roasting Mongolian beef, she replied "What do you want from me?!" My boyfriend and I were outraged and chose a different dish. I ask you to hire those who are ready to work and not spoil people's mood with their toxic attitudes towards visitors. I hope you don't ignore it. We left a tip, despite her rude attitude. This happened at 7 pm. u can check in your camera, if u have.

Yelp
Must go now! Everything is delicious! Everything. Rarely a wait! Plenty of parking. Service is very attentive. We've been going for over 20yrs and it never disappoints. Music isn't too loud. Very clean and spacious.

Yelp
Food is so salty. My son drank couple bottle water after we got home. Even myself, the previous owner handle restaurant way better than current. We used to go to this place for lunch. Food quality is not there anymore. Definitely I will not go back again.

Yelp
Bathroom were not neatly clean. We saw roaches in the bathroom. Food was not the best Asian food. Very thick dough. no air conditioning.

Angel D.

Yelp
The food is always good. Very clean and authentic. This would be one of my favorite restaurants if the service wasn't so terrible. It might be a cultural thing but there are ways of taking one's order where it's not strictly a business transaction. My drink was just put on the table having to reach across the table to grab it. Front staff not friendly!

Yelp
Wonton noodles and bbq ducks as always. Foods still taste the same. A lot of restaurants after COVID, either their portion getting smaller or the food not taste as good as before.

Yelp
Amazing! Delicious! Great prices! Service good! Nice and clean restaurant. Goooooo! Worth the drive. Authentic won ton soup.

Yelp
OK I had high high hopes for this place as it took over the 555 dish from the famous restaurant in Chinatown. When we walked in it was almost all Asian people eating there, which is always a good sign. Unfortunately, that's the best thing I can say the food was not good. There was way too much barbecued pork on my 555 dish overseasoned and fatty. We brought home egg foo yong, which was ok and fried rice, which was edible. The person I was with got Raman, and he usually eats everything and he left half of it.

Maya K.

Yelp
I've been here 3 times now with my parents and it always hits the spot! My family lives in downtown Chicago and we sometimes travel all the way up here just to go to lunch here! The place is very spacious with large tables to accommodate big parties and also smaller booths for the small family (like us) :). I highly recommend the bbq pork. It is sweet, but not too sweet and is super tender. I could eat a whole plate of it! We are always fighting on who gets the last piece. The other thing we rave about is the Chinese broccoli. It is cooked to perfection and goes well with any of the dishes. They offer a variety of noodle options, but my favorite are definitely the chow mein crispy noodles and the braised noodles. I also know that the wonton soup noodles are very popular as well. Dreaming about the next time!

Yelp
I ordered takeout several times. The dining room is always packed and noisy. The quality of the food is hit and miss. I had their Egg foo young and thought it was terrific, next visit it was like a wet sponge. I'll give than other try. Maybe an off night for them.

Yelp
This is the most authentic wonton place I've been to ! I always come here for comfort food for a pick me up always warms my soul. The food is amazing, the service is fast and I really like the ambiance here! Highly recommend !

Yelp
We went to Wonton Gourmet for lunch today. The chicken wings and the sesami balls are good. But the broth for the wonton noodles soup tasted like water, not like the usually taste. Therefore I gave 2 stars.

Yelp
The food is great. My favorite go to is the Noodles with wonton and barbecue pork. My wife and I have selected off the menu and have never been disappointed. The service and ambiance is great.

Yelp
We had lunch at this place which had been here for many years which previously was a Browns Chicken. Anyways, we got seated and waited right away. Service was very good, and the food have improved tremendously. Maybe new owners or a new cook. We ordered pot stickers for starters and it was huge plump and delicious. Then we ordered shrimp fried rice and Mongolian beef . I ordered beef and shrimp wonton noodles soup which was plenty of everything was very tasty and good. Place has plenty of parking and clean inside with plenty of workers waiting to help.

Yelp
It's been a while since I went to Wonton Gourmet and overall I was pleasantly surprised at all the changes they've made since I last visited. Overall I feel like this restaurant is more in line now with the look, atmosphere, service, and food of what you expect from the classier Chinese restaurants. It's great that you can enjoy authentic Cantonese flavors without travelling all the way to Chinatown, especially with harder to find items like noodle soup and congee which are less common in the suburbs. Compared to before, I also find that the food quality is also better -- definitely less salty and oily with better ingredients. The BBQ pork here has a nice sauce, not too sweet and good to mix in with rice. The pieces of meat I got were a little on the lean side and cut a little thin but still enjoyable. The Yang Chow fried rice was a little light on wok-hay from seared egg, but the generous amounts of BBQ pork and pieces of shrimp did help to give it a good level of savory flavor and fullness. The orange beef was quite saucy and deep fried nicely. Though it didn't retain its crispiness for very long, the flavor was still evident in the batter which did well in helping the thick orange sauce stick to each piece. The sauce was probably equal bits salty and sweet, which I liked, with a little hint of tangerine peel in the sauce. The beef was fairly tender and had a nice light flavor to it. The seafood chow fun mixes the best of the saucy seafood chow mein dish with the addictive crispy chow fun noodles that I love here. It had generous amount of seafood for the price, with good large shrimp. The cabbage and carrots did a good job of adding some earthiness to the dish, making it a nice light alternative to the usual gan chow beef fun. Overall, a quick and reasonably priced alternative to heading into Chinatown with fairly good food.

Yelp
Wonton Gourmet is a great authentic Asian restaurant. My husband and I came here to meet a friend. When we arrived there were plenty of tables available. We ordered the BBQ ribs as an appetizer. The BBQ ribs had a flavorful sauce and was very tender. For entrées we ordered the orange beef, yang chow fried rice, and seafood chow fun. The orange beef had a crispy, crunchy batter, in a mildly spicy sauce. The meat was tender and tasty. The seafood chow fun had large vegetables, big pieces of shrimp and other seafood. The sauce in this dish was very sweet and savory and has a comfort food feel to it. The large and sweet crispy noodle was cooked in a way that I have never seen before. The noodle was laid in strips at the bottom of the dish. It was a struggle to get it apart to eat but it was well worth the effort. The yang chow fried rice was lite on sauce but I enjoyed it. The rice was rich and fluffy and the fried egg added to the dish. Overall, Wonton Gourmet is a solid choice for great Asian food. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
We go to Won Ton Gourmet any time we're close to O'Hare. Best Chinese food outside of Chinatown or Argyle. Great soups and noodle dishes for sure. Try it!

Yelp
Good for wonton soup and braised noodle varieties. Many different variations with shrimp wontons, bbq pork, bbq duck, fishballs, meat balls, vegetables available etc. Can't speak too much to the food outside the soups, we got the shrimp app, crab rangoon, and mapo tofu, it was alright. Come for the soup and braised noodles, everything else is average.

Yelp
As an Asian American and coming from New York City, I'm usually fairly critical on Chinese food. I had low expectations coming to a place in the middle of Des Plaines, IL, but I was pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the food and it's flavors. To my surprise, they had all the classic menu items that will bring joy to your palate with their specialties of really good noodle soups. My family and I enjoyed their friend dumplings, their rice dishes and of course we each had all different soups. It's as authentic as it gets for IL I think, definitely would come back here again!

Yelp
The food is good, close to Chinatown taste. The price is reasonable but the location is not very easy to find. The service could be better since none of the staff has forgotten smiles or different tone of voice. Make me think do I own them apologize?! Finally the restaurant is fair for a try , if you were around that area.

Yelp
12 years later and I find myself craving this place since I took over a decade long hiatus -- not purposefully, just more out of sight out of mind as life changed and I moved around. Anyways, I recently started to come back to this old timer of a place this year and since then, we have had been here 5 times and will probably be back before year's end. There is something so nostalgic and unbeatable about their shrimp wonton noodle soup. That, and the Yang Chow fried rice (sans soy sauce), the 554 rice dish with the most tender & flavorful BBQ pork you'll ever have, the tangy hot and sour soup, their fried shrimp wonton actually have chunks of shrimps you can taste, and even their chili oil is on point! (And yes, you can purchase it to go). We come here not for the fancy ambiance but for the true authentic Chinese cuisine. I literally would go through periods of craving their Yang Chow fried rice & Shrimp Won Ton noodle soup like no other. And trust me, I have tried to find replaceable dishes, or ones that are called of the same names and nothing has compared. I simply need to go back to this place in order those exact dishes. We've already celebrated at least two family birthdays here, and I imagine there will be more to come. On this particular visit, I ordered the 554 rice dish because I saw two people at the adjacent table to us had it on their plate and it looks so appetizing that I had to ask what it was. I took a chance, and it was worth the risk because my whole family finished it-- pretty much licked it clean. We now have another favorite dish to add to our palette's repertoire, it has become a staple of our order. Service comes out fast for us when we visit, they were also very nice to let us cut our own cake for a birthday celebration. I asked for a knife to cut the cake, and they brought out extra plates and forks. They offer free oolong tea as well. And the prices are reasonable here for the portions, as of 2023. We were able to feed a bigger group here for less money than when we go for Dim Sum which if they ever offer, I would need to move next door. I hope they continue to keep prices affordable and food quality high here. Fun fact, they are also a sister restaurant of Seven Treasures in Chinatown. This place has my stamp of approval and I can't believe that 12 years later I'm still raving about it!

Yelp
Been coming here for years and they have never missed the mark. Always top tier service with really tasty reasonably priced food. I come out from Chicago just for their fried rice!

Yelp
I got the noodles with shrimp wontons and beef stew and a fried rice. The wontons were great and the broth was excellent but the beef in the stew was mainly silver skin and connective tissue. This might be fine for some but I'm personally not a fan and feel like it cheapened the experience. The fried rice was bland and didn't live up to our expectations. We have been here before and it used to be excellent. The service and ambiance was fine. I did see they are hiring so maybe they are understaffed which led to a less than ideal experience. Either way I don't think I'll be back anytime soon

Yelp
The service has changed with new help but hopefully next time since I told about service used to be more attentive in making sure guests are asked if everything is ok snd keep the water filled, etc. The Signature beef chow fun is still crisp but the BBQ pork and duck not fresh. We will ask only fresh and not bother next time if it isn't. Hope to give them better rating next visit.
