The 38 Best Restaurants in Toronto, Canada | Eater

"While chef and owner Eddie Yeung operates an additional Wonton Hut in the suburbs of Markham, his locale in downtown Toronto allows him to flex more. Check out his street eats-inspired menu (curry fish balls, crispy fish skin, brick toast stuffed with peanut butter and condensed milk) that honors the legacy of dai pai dong stalls that used to fill the labyrinthine alleyways of Hong Kong. Yeung’s well-known dishes are also available for fans, like cavernous bowls of fortified broth filled with glossy egg noodles and plump tiger shrimp wontons. For the best-selling Satay Beef Miso Ramen — the chef’s play on a humble breakfast dish that’s usually made with instant noodles — Yeung tosses fresh ramen into his own creamy satay soup. Vibe check: The vibe here is very chill and no frills. If you’re dining on a budget, you can easily fill up on appetizers." - Tiffany Leigh

The 38 Best Restaurants in Markham, Ontario | Eater

"Since 2009, folks have come to Eddie Yeung’s wee noodle shop to gorge on plump dumplings — in wonton soup, atop of a bed of lo mein, or on their own. Most popular is the traditional wonton noodle soup, in which a quartet of wontons are filled with shrimp, pork, chives, shiitake, and black fungus for a little crunch. If you want greens, get some choy sum (Chinese mustard greens) tossed in; a splash of red vinegar and chile oil will do some good, too. Beyond wontons, tender, juicy beef brisket can be enjoyed with vegetables, lo mein, or as an add-on to wonton soup. The restaurant recently launched its own brand of Hong Kong-style milk tea and house-brewed lemon tea as well. [$]" - Faiyaz Kara

Visited today after a long time, and the wonton noodles tasted the same as they used to! It seems like their prices have nearly doubled, and it’s quite steep for a spot like this. Asides from a few additions of the booth seatings, a paint refresh with darkened green walls, and a little bit of decor, nothing much has changed. Was about to order the Plain Beef Brisket dish (as we normally used to) but good thing I had a second glance at the menu and noticed it’s now priced at $21.50. (Not even reasonable in my opinion) Our family of 3 paid over $60 for 3 bowls of noodles + 2 drinks (premade milk tea / soy milk). I used to visit here all the time, but after experiencing the shocking price changes today, I’d have to be seriously craving these wonton noodles to come back here again. 😢

Thought the portion was a bit small but I was still reasonably full. Ordered the wonton lo mein and wonton noodle soup with veggies which came out to $40 including tax and tips. Place is quite small and does a fair bit of takeout orders. Seems quite popular as the place is either full or queuing is necessary. The wontons were big and tasty and the soup whilst good lacked depth and umami-ness. When compared to 3A, offering is similar with 3A just coming slightly ahead due to the soup.

I have been to this restaurant many times. I would say it is my number one pick for both consistency in service and food quality. Service is always friendly but not overly familiar. One is always greeted immediately upon entering even if there is a lineup, so no anxiety as to who is first in line. Wait time is never long because service is very efficient and it is worth the wait. I’ve had many of their items and they are all good. Beef brisket has been tender and flavourful every time I’ve had it. I love their traditional Chinese dumplings and cuttlefish balls. The dumplings are well-balanced with the perfect amount of shrimp & pork. The cuttlefish balls have an excellent texture, bouncy with a pronounced taste of cuttlefish and also little chunks of cuttlefish inside. Their house-made chilli sauce has a good kick and one can buy it to go too. I highly recommend this restaurant for a casual meal or mid-afternoon snack. They only take cash or debit card.

Both the noodles and wonton are super good. Lots of shrimps in the wonton. My only strange argument is I actually missed the old Hong Kong style of wonton which was much smaller.

A small no-frill Wonton Noodle place, limited menu of noodles in soup & lo-mein only, with a few selection of toppings, authentic Cantonese dumplings, shrimp wonton, fish balls and braised beef brisket, very tasty broth, beef brisket very soft & succulent, service was a bit slow, popular with take-outs.

I've driven by this restaurant many times but had never tried until this weekend. We went after 1:30pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. Got seated right away. We ordered via QR code on the table, and the food came quickly. We got the wonton noodle soup with egg noodles, beef brisket rice noodle soup, and hot milk tea. Wonton noodle soup - 3/5 - nothing special - they were a little on the salty side for my taste, and noodles weren't as flavourful as some others I've had but the texture was good. Beef brisket noodles - 4.5/5 - the brisket was very good. Tender and flavourful, and not too fatty. It needs a little more broth for the noodles. Milk tea - 4/5 - hot, strong, and tasty. No complaints

Wonton Hut Noodle Bar in Markham, Ontario is a small restaurant. Waitstaff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We had the wonton with noodle and topped with stewed beef brisket and hand-sliced tender beef pieces. The noodle was cooked perfectly with a slight chewy texture. Big wontons with big chunks of shrimps inside. Stewed beef briskets had the right balance of meat and fat ratio and very tender. Beef slices were tasty. The broth was richer than we expected. We would definitely come back when we are in the area.
