The 38 Best Restaurants in Toronto, Canada | Eater

"While chef and owner Eddie Yeung operates an additional Wonton Hut in the suburbs of Markham, his locale in downtown Toronto allows him to flex more. Check out his street eats-inspired menu (curry fish balls, crispy fish skin, brick toast stuffed with peanut butter and condensed milk) that honors the legacy of dai pai dong stalls that used to fill the labyrinthine alleyways of Hong Kong. Yeung’s well-known dishes are also available for fans, like cavernous bowls of fortified broth filled with glossy egg noodles and plump tiger shrimp wontons. For the best-selling Satay Beef Miso Ramen — the chef’s play on a humble breakfast dish that’s usually made with instant noodles — Yeung tosses fresh ramen into his own creamy satay soup. Vibe check: The vibe here is very chill and no frills. If you’re dining on a budget, you can easily fill up on appetizers." - Tiffany Leigh

The 38 Best Restaurants in Markham, Ontario | Eater

"Since 2009, folks have come to Eddie Yeung’s wee noodle shop to gorge on plump dumplings — in wonton soup, atop of a bed of lo mein, or on their own. Most popular is the traditional wonton noodle soup, in which a quartet of wontons are filled with shrimp, pork, chives, shiitake, and black fungus for a little crunch. If you want greens, get some choy sum (Chinese mustard greens) tossed in; a splash of red vinegar and chile oil will do some good, too. Beyond wontons, tender, juicy beef brisket can be enjoyed with vegetables, lo mein, or as an add-on to wonton soup. The restaurant recently launched its own brand of Hong Kong-style milk tea and house-brewed lemon tea as well. [$]" - Faiyaz Kara

Wonton Hut has been around since 2010. They used to have a 2nd location downtown, but it has since closed down. Ironically it’s beside McDonald’s. If looking for a quick service meal that is much healthier, then consider this eatery. It’s competitively priced. The only difference is you have to pay tip. We were there almost to closing time 8PM, so they only had eggs noodles at the time. Vermicelli and rice noodles options are available earlier in the day. Eggs noodles are an acquired taste to some people. 1. Beef brisket noodles soup Beef is tender. 2. Shrimps wonton noodles soup Wontons are medium sized. Even they were closing, we didn’t felt rush by the employees. They let us be. This eatery can be somewhat busy during rush hour. Even near closing time, there were several customers dining in. It’s not wheelchair accessible, but an employee rushed to open the door for us as we entered their double doors. Pay either with cash or credit. Ample parking spaces. This is located in a plaza. There’s a Shoppers Drugs Mart, McDonald’s, Coco Tea, TD bank and No Frills within the same plaza complex. It’s a happening place.

The best wonton mi I've had in all of North America. The bowl reminded me of Hong Kong. Eddie and his staff are doing amazing things here carrying on authentic food traditions. I ordered 4 dozens of cook at home to bring back to Chicago. Thank you for such a wonderful food experience.

Nice portion of food and the soup base with a strong taste of shrimp roe. The noodles are cooked just well, not too chewy and not too mushy.

Just wanted a quick lunch other than fast foods. Wonton Hut service are efficiency, you can get a noodles around 5 -10 minutes (maybe quickly than next door Mcxxxxxd.)The noodles is authentic Hong Kong style (tender and thin) is the best of Toronto I try. The beef tender also good 👍 only 1 star deduct from most of the Chinese restaurants table are too crowded. I can't invite my colleagues who have 100kg dine in with me。

I found the broth on the saltier side and the shrimp wontons were smaller than other wonton spots I’ve been to. Beef brisket was tender and flavourful. The lemon tea was very sweet. Overall, a great spot to visit but shy of 5 stars.

Visited today after a long time, and the wonton noodles tasted the same as they used to! It seems like their prices have nearly doubled, and it’s quite steep for a spot like this. Asides from a few additions of the booth seatings, a paint refresh with darkened green walls, and a little bit of decor, nothing much has changed. Was about to order the Plain Beef Brisket dish (as we normally used to) but good thing I had a second glance at the menu and noticed it’s now priced at $21.50. (Not even reasonable in my opinion) Our family of 3 paid over $60 for 3 bowls of noodles + 2 drinks (premade milk tea / soy milk). I used to visit here all the time, but after experiencing the shocking price changes today, I’d have to be seriously craving these wonton noodles to come back here again. 😢

After all these years, the food is still excellent. If it is not the best of the best, it has to be at least one of the best in town. People living in Markham are so lucky that you don’t have to go far to enjoy a bowl of Wanton. This is the authentic Hong Kong Wanton. It is fresh and it is made fresh and it is always fresh. This is a very unique food item originated from Hong Kong. This is our comfort food as well. I personally like to have the rice noodles together with the red vinegar. I think this is not the best combination. The service has some rooms to improve. However this is the way it works in Hong Kong. No other places you will see the owner sits behind the cashier all day long and giving out orders. Be prepared to wait for your table as there is no machine to handle any waitlists. But the wait is absolutely worth! Be patience while getting a parking spot too. Otherwise park your car just a little further and walk! It will also help to digest after enjoying a big bowl of wanton.

Park and shrimp wonton egg noodle soup, very good, large chunks of shrimp in the wonton, broth was slightly salty for my liking but the wonton wasn’t so it helped. Says fish roe in the wonton but I didn’t see or taste any. Was hard to taste the pork as well but prominent shrimp flavour. Standard size you get 4 big wontons and lots of noodles with some green onions and house made chili sauce on the side. Extra toppings are extra at a reasonable price. Would go again to try different soups and noodles that they offer.
