A Hong Kong‑style mainstay with weekend dim sum service, congee, roast meats, and seafood dishes. Noted by Riverfront Times and community directories, it remains a reliable stop for Cantonese comfort along the Olive corridor.

I ordered Wonton King through DoorDash and one of the items I ordered was the spring rolls. I took a bite into the spring roll and realized the texture was strange, so I cut into it and realized the meat inside was completely raw. I called the restaurant and she said it contained shrimp and pork. I am absolutely shocked to have been delivered spring rolls with raw meat and would not recommend anyone to go to this restaurant.

The overall taste is great, it’s like a home-cooked meal! The only thing I noticed is that the noodles are a bit dry and hard. Maybe they just need to be cooked or boiled a bit longer. (For me, at least.) But I still love supporting them! Keep up the great work!

Visiting from out of town. Picked Wonton King because it was easy to get to from it hotel. Got there at about 8pm on a Monday night. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. They seated us immediately and said "welcome home". The menu is extensive, even without the dim sum (we were to late for that, but will definitely be back to try it another day). The hot and sour soup was awesome. The sliced beef with mixed vegetables was delicious and tender. Very large portions. We both took home leftovers. The restaurant was very clean and every take was neatly set. It felt very nice yet casual and comfortable at the same time. Was about $25 per person and totally worth it!

I recently visited Wonton King after hearing many positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the hype. I arrived on a quiet afternoon and was told by the server to seat myself. The first red flag was the condition of the condiment bottles, which were sticky and unclean, not the best start for any dining experience. I ordered the house special noodle, which was average at best-nothing special about the dish. To my disappointment, there was no follow-up to check if I was satisfied with the meal. The service further declined when another server presented the bill while I was still eating. When I requested an itemized bill, she outright refused, which I found unprofessional. Another aspect that puzzled me was the rave reviews about the owner's friendliness. Throughout my visit, the owner was seated at a table, seemingly preoccupied on the phone. There was zero interaction, leaving me wondering what all the buzz was about. Overall, the visit was disappointing and I will not be returning to Wonton King.

Google
Great Chinese restaurant. I had the orange chicken, and the flavor was very good. There is a little too much sauce for my liking, but it's definitely good. Wonton soup was good.

Google
Friendly service. Beautiful and clean dining room. Excellent food! Large selection, something for everyone.

Google
It’s self seating when you get inside. You pick a table and a waiter will come to you once you’re seated. We tried a variety of different dishes on the lazy Susan - all were great. Super filling. Service was also fast and very friendly. Prices were around your typical higher end Chinese restaurant with the shrimp lo mein going for $17. Definitely would recommend if you’re visiting St. Louis and looking for a dinner restaurant.

Yelp
Tasty and authentic dim sum in St. Louis! The menu is huge, and everything we've tried has been fresh and flavorful. What really sets this place apart is how family-friendly it is. They actually have a real diaper changing station (not just a flimsy wall-mounted one), which shows how thoughtful they are about families dining here. Plus, you don't have to stress about kids being loud -- the atmosphere is lively and chatty, exactly what you'd expect from a dim sum spot. We've come with big groups several times and never felt rushed. Service is welcoming, and we always leave full and happy. Definitely a go-to for dim sum in St. Louis!

Yelp
Excellent food and tastes wonderful. We especially enjoy the fried pot stickers, pork fried rice, and sesame chicken!

Yelp
We have ordered from here several times. Food is fresh and delicious. Very flavorful. Service is very friendly and accomodating. The shrimp in the dishes are big, the General Tso's prawns are huge! Everything we've had is good.

Yelp
I usually visit Lulu for some tasty dim sum, but I think wonton king is a hidden gem! There was no wait and plenty of tables available even at around 12:30. A lot of dim sum choices to pick from the cart, and I enjoyed the food we got! I got to try the fried taro with pork for the first time, and it was surprisingly delicious! My only complaint would be the food being too salty... They have the flowy egg yolk buns, which were not found in Lulu, and those are a must try! You may need to wait 5 minutes for them to be hot, but it's definitely worth the wait.

Yelp
Food and service is excellent! Everything we had was great! We had dim sum the first time and everything was delicious. We ordered from the entree menu the next time and it didn't disappoint either. I had orange beef. It was great! Try them out.

Yelp
We came on a Sunday afternoon and didn't have to wait for a table. The restaurant is decorated with photos of the family. The hostess was very friendly. We were not familiar with dim sum so we were slightly confused when they kept coming around with the carts and offering us different things. They have an extensive menu. We started with the fried wontons. They were filled with some type of meat. For our entrees we got the chicken fried rice and the house special chow mein. It was a bit pricey but the portions were large and the food was authentic. I look forward to trying dim sum next time.

Yelp
Very welcoming greeting from the hostess. We were early for our meetup but no problem. They were ready for us in the airy, ample dining room. Glad we came early to study the EXTENSIVE menu. Also, needed some help on finding gf choices which could have used a translator, but finally managed to find those selections.could have used a few more servers and the help of the hostess on getting orders as they were expecting our crowd of about 20 people. I was expecting some exceptional menu choices, but wasn't disappointed with the usual fare. A good choice when you're looking for some Chinese eats.

Yelp
It's defientley one of those hidden places, but I will reassure that doesn't change the actual restaurant. After hearing about this place from some of my folks, I though "Huh. Why not go here." The manager is a absolute good egg. So polite and kind, her fun personality fills the air. Expect the place to be busy, but there will be always maybe two or three empty tables. Decent menu variety. Decent restrooms. The place is crammed with tables left to right, so it is hard to get your way around, heck good luck finding room to hang your coat over your chair. Food is good though. Not too salty, the dumplings are good and I also enjoy their egg custard. The glass noodles are also a nice pick for a meal, it's just big. I think it's best to go with family or friends because portions are defientley big, but I cannot judge anything else. If you have never tried dumplings, and you just so happen to be here for some reason, give this place a try.

Yelp
We came here to eat today for dim sum. Overall the food here is decent for saint louis dim sum. The staffs come to the table very regularly to offer the dim sum items that they have. Service was decent. Compare to all the dim sum places in saint louis, this place is decent with consistent quality.

kim s.

Yelp
The pork was rubbery and old- does it look fresh? Zoom in on the chicken... it's not chicken. I will NEVER eat here again and plan to share this pic with as many people as possible

Yelp
Not my favorite Chinese place... Too much like American Chinese, and not enough like authentic Chinese. The women at the front (owner?) is quite friendly and easy to talk to. Our server on the other hand really didn't seem to understand English that well? And when you've got someone who has issues with gluten intolerance, it's very important to be understood. And to feel CONFIDENT that you're understood. The food was good, and even though the broccoli was cooked PERFECTLY and was delicious, it needed to be cut into smaller pieces! It was like trying to chomp off part of a tree. The ambiance is Chinese kitschy. I believe the only reason I'd want to come back is to try the Dim Sum maybe?

Yelp
Good! Just good! I wanted to here because I heard it's the best food but it was just good! The place is a nice size, clean and great service. The staff is super friendly. The food was good but I wouldn't say the best I ever had. The crab Rangoons were great very crispy and the filling perfect. The orange chicken was very tasty and nice portion. The Lo Mein was good but a bit dry. We also had another noodle plate that was good but cannot recall the name. Overall it's a nice place.

Yelp
Very good service here. The owner is very sweet. She always talks us and checks if everything is good. Foods come out smoking hot. I usually order orange chicken, wonton soup and beef chow fun here. Yesterday we got crispy egg noodles with seafood and tofu with assorted meat hot pot. Very delicious.

Yelp
Went to Wanton King this weekend with the family, they were craving Chinese food so I took them to one of my favorite places. We got there right at the end of Dim Sum, but I was able to still get my sticky rice -- which made me happy. The food hit the spot and fixed the craving. Love the family atmosphere and interacting with the staff. We had several dishes, and would recommend them all: cashew chicken, curry chicken, sweet & sour pork, orange chicken, kung pow chicken, crab Rangoon, wantons.

Yelp
Wonton King went above and beyond my expectations. My friend invited me here for a quick bite to eat and I thought really nothing of it until I went inside. The menu they had seemed very much like other restaurants I'd been to in the area. However the moment we sat down the service we received was phenomenal. The owner there treated us with crazy hospitality and offered to make us her special dishes when hearing our orders. Despite already having a fantastic time, the second our food came out I was shocked with how good it was. My friends and I got the orange chicken, crispy beef, and a special that the owner made for us and it was SO GOOD. This place honestly had the best orange chicken and noodles I have ever had and I only wish I could remember the owners name there! The food came out very quick too and the atmosphere inside was pretty cool. I highly recommend wonton King if you are looking for takeout or a good sit down meal! The best Chinese restaurant I've been at!

Yelp
I pick up and it's always super hot and ready to go home! Always delicious! I recommend you try anything from any category. That suits you and you will be very happy. As 4 spice, they do very well with following requests. Spicy to not spicy. One of my favorite U City spots.

Yelp
The restaurant is big and was easy to get a table here on a Wed. night. The staff was friendly and the food came out fast. Menu offers a variety of popular dishes like General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken or Beef, Hunan chicken or beef, salt & pepper squid, congee, wonton noodle soup, lo mein, and roast duck. Egg drop soup $4 - Good flavor and texture, plenty for one person, but can be shared with 2 people. Chinese mushroom and vegetable chow mein $16 - Pan fried thin noodles (partly crispy) and fun to each with the crunchiness mixed with softer sections that absorbed the sauce. I like the mushroom and bok choy in this dish. Salty fish and chicken fried rice $17 - The portion could be a little bigger for the price. White chicken meat was tender and the cubed fish gives a nice burst of saltiness. .|\---/| | o_o | .\_^_/..2023

Yelp
The food is craving worthy. Hot pot with eggplant and pork is amazing. Hot and sour soup, moo shoo pork and dim sum are great. Just get there before 3 if you want the dim sum. The staff is always welcoming and helpful if you have questions.

Yelp
I wanted to find a place that served dim sum in St. Louis and I found this place by searching in Yelp. I was not disappointed. Great dim sum!

Michael F.

Yelp
The Double Sautéed Potk was excellent! The flavor was much better than your typical Chinese restaurant. The only comment I would have, though, is that the lunch version is a little shy on the pork. Definitely worth trying anyway.

Yelp
I just looked and see that my review is from 9 years ago. These guys are putting out the best dim sum in the area and have become our go-to family favorite. So much so, we've hosted about a half-dozen Yelp UYEs here. This is the place to go for dim sum, hands-down!
google avatar

Lefai K.

Yelp
Not my go-to, but I suppose it got the job done. Not going to lie, part of me feels bad to give a bad review to a small business, and more so, to my fellow Chinese. But being a helper is about honest reviews no? I had high hopes of this place, seeing that they serve dim sum. Even more high hopes, seeing another Asian patron dining in when we got there. The dining area was pretty large, and I'm wondering if this place gets filled during the dim sum hours. Unfortunately, we got there for dinner, so the place was rather empty and there was no dim sum. I ordered the wonton noodle soup with brisket, which was the star of the show. The meat was tender and the wonton dumplings were great. It was really authentic. I saw that they had salt and pepper shrimp so asked if they had salt and pepper fish. Indeed they did! The salt filets usually are flat, but these were strangely tubed. The breading was ok, but not as flaky as I'm use to when I order this dish from other Chinese restaurants. It was somewhat disappointing. My kids ordered the shrimp fried rice, which I tried. Super salty. My other son had the vegetable Cantonese pan fried noodles, which he said was good. Service was good, staff was friendly

Yelp
The food was not bad! Pretty decent portions, especially the congee (12$) which feeds 2 people. I like it best with the Chinese fried donuts too. It wasn't crowded at all when we came for early dinner. The veggie dish was really overpriced but if you stick to basics it's a good deal.

Yelp
The service is excellent. The ladies are friendly and funny. The atmosphere is clean, there is a lot to look at! It's nice and warm when it's cold out. Food tasted great and came fairly quick. Everything was nice and hot including the green tea!

Yelp
Great dim sum! On my must have list every time we visit St Louis! If you haven't been there you are missing out.
google avatar

Yelp
I love dimsum at wonton king. Always good vibes and a comfy atmosphere. Every time I've been, the owners and servers are so pleasant and friendly. The siu mai and crispy pork belly are amazing.

Yelp
Not my go-to place . There are currently 2 dim sum places in stlouis. This is one of it. We only consider going here because the food here is a just little better than the other place. Service is friendly but they will rush you out. Start plating dishes and utensils before you are able to pack up to leave. Please check your bill before you pay. I notice the last couple times we visited, our bills are extremely high. When we asked for the receipt breaking down the items, the lady owner slapped down the menu and told us add it up ourself. I do not recommend this establishment. If you go do, please prepare to overpay and unfriendly owner.

Yelp
First time here and I ordered cashew chicken from the lunch menu and my soup option I chose hot and sour soup. The soup was awesome. It was the right thickness and it had the right amount of heat. The cashew chicken was not very good. The sauce wasn't quite right and the cashews and other ingredients tasted stale. If the ingredients aren't fresh it makes a HUGE difference. The meal came with a crab Rangoon and a wonton and both seemed stale to me. Our server was friendly and provided great service. I'll give them another try.

Yelp
This place was crazy popular on Friday. I was a first timer here but my date wasn't. Big portions and very authentic food. Make sure u ask for silverware they usually only give chop sticks and a spoon. Big floor plan so plenty spots to sit. Waiters were super nice.

Yelp
Great food, personable service. Lin will treat you like she's known you forever and recommend what hits your hot spot.

Yelp
Very enjoyable! The service really set the tone thanks to our lovely waitress. Nice sized portions, cooked fresh. The setting was relaxing and family friendly.

Yelp
The food is fantastic and fresh cooked when ordered!!! There is a wide variety of food to choose from. The staff is kind and caring. You are welcomed as family when coming in the door. The restaurant is very clean the ambiance is nice and beautifully decorated with pictures of the wonderful food, pics of family, customers and festive culture. It is very relaxing and therapeutic to me with healthy food fresh beautiful vegetables the meats are tender and flavorful! I love it!!!

Yelp
Love their Bok Choy Big portions. Very pricey. Authentic dishes. Will highly recommend to anyone who loves bok choy

Yelp
Friday February 28th 545pm party of 4 . Started with appetizers crab ragoon and potstickers both were large and well stuffed with ingredients. A couple glasses of Chardonnay and a soda to drink. Pepper shrimp, beef with mushrooms, generals chicken and shrimp fried rice were the entrees we all shared. Service was exceptional and the owner was visiting every table to assure proper food and service was being provided. It was a very quaint dining room with nice decor. Would recommend and return to try other menu items.

Yelp
Legit roast duck and Hong Kong style wonton noodle soup. Delicious meal. I'll visit again if I get the chance. Would be fun to come with a group and try more stuff family style.

Yelp
We had Chrysanthemum tea and it can with little sugar cubes- delicious! We ordered seafood hot pot, duck and a veggie dish. Everything was delicious. Food came out quickly. Good experience.

Yelp
This restaurant claims to be the first Hong Kong Style Chinese restaurant in STL. This is definitely an old establishment, with the owner chatting up many regulars throughout the night. Food was good and service was quick! It definitely hits the spot when I'm craving old school Chinese food.

J. D. G.

Yelp
Dencent food at a decent price. Enjoyed our entrees. Not many for table service but the takeout business was brisk.
google avatar

Philip M.

Yelp
Very Chinese family like vibe. More than a typical take-out. Title may fool you but It's an authentic Chinese restaurant. The tofu dessert is extra steamed for texture, not my personal favorite. The chicken feet, veggie dishes, and many are great! Small parking lot but tons of room inside. Great for many small groups. Very busy on Saturday morning - noon because tradition. They are quick with food going around. Unique experience per authentic Chinese restaurants in the area The waiting line does not have a lot of room within restaurant.

Yelp
Five of us came in to this institution of a restaurant. We were greeted by the owner Ling and seated at a round top with a lazy Susan. Potstickers and tea were ordered and served almost immediately. Excellent flavor from the meat in the potstickers as well as a unique floral flavor in the tea. We ordered string beans (amazing) Yang chow fried rice was delightful and full of contrasting flavors and is something that can't be ordered everywhere. Tien Fu chicken was quite tasty with the spicy brown sauce and pea pods. Singapore yellow curry noodles were amazing. True specialty dishes served up with friendly staff in an unassuming way. "When you're here, you are mishbucha" as said by owner Ling! Long live the leftovers.
google avatar

Naomi S.

Yelp
My first time to dim sum here. The food was ridiculously amazing. We enjoyed everything we tried, especially the crispy pork belly and the Chinese greens. Two reasons why I gave four stars vs five: One is that we sometimes seemed pushed to try items. Our group didn't take anything we all did not agree on, but we should just feel we can wave our hands or shake our heads politely and the server back off. And then the woman with the cart generally didn't stop by our table or acknowledge us/look at us to see if we wanted anything. Three times we had to flag her. Also, I had no idea what the cost of the dishes were. At other places, I was either able to point to an item on a menu with a price or there was a plate size. There was nothing on the table, cart or explained about what anything cost. The tab we had that the ladies would write lines on seemed to always be the "xxl" except for two items. We chose a total of 13 items and my cost at the register was $143. I have no idea what the individual plates cost and I don't think I would have changed much, I think it should be apparent and obvious what each dish costs.

Brian B.

Yelp
Great food, great staff, the owners are always present at their establishment making it a fun night. Great place to go with friends and family.
google avatar

Keith R.

Yelp
Food was good: we had pot stickers, beef and broccoli, and king pao shrimp. They were all very good, although I expected the kung pao to be spicier. Service was pleasant and attentive (although the restaurant was not busy).
google avatar

Kristin E.

Yelp
Food was good and service was great. Spoke to the owner a few times. Will definitely go back to try more options.
google avatar

Patrick R.

Yelp
On Olive Blvd. are numerous restaurants to choose from. Wonton King is one of the many. We went in to get some lunch. I decided to get a light lunch, to save some appetite for dinner later on today. I ordered the shrimp wonton soup, picturing in my mind a humble bowl with delicious soup. When my order was served I was surprised how big the bowl was. The prices are good with most dishes under $20.00 It is a great restaurant to eat with a few or with a group. I enjoyed my soup, but with all the other options up and down the road I will try some other spots before returning here.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Solid choice for dim sum. Service was quick, establishment was clean. Large variety of things to choose from. We ordered both dim sum and a few things off of the regular menu. Definitely recommend the Shu Mei, bbq pork bun, sesame balls and wonton soup (off of the menu).
google avatar

Mercedes Elena S.

Yelp
Best dim sum in town without a doubt! The owner and staff are extremely friendly. Wonton king is always packed but the wait it's totally worth it (20-30 mins). The restaurant isn't too big and it's family owned and operated so you will be welcomed like a family member.

Siyuan S.

Yelp
Terrible service. Mud are found on the vegetables. And they don't apologize. They just said don't eat them. But the dirt touched the whole dish.
