London’s New Restaurant Openings

"The residents of Wood Street in Walthamstow have officially won the postcode lottery. Not the one with ex-X Factor contestants surprising bemused members of the public. The one that gets you bakeries, cafes, and taprooms all within walking distance. Wood Street Bear is the latest bar opening, spinning records and serving cheese toasties." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

The coolest vibe in Wood Street 💃 Great DJs playing awesome tunes almost every day, different events all the time, excellent drinks (including wine!) and snacks very reasonable priced - you have to try their Argentinian empanadas. And the service is alright 🤣 Kidding, everybody's super cool 😊🙌

Lovely new bar. Got small but good selection of craft beer on tap and selection of wine. Got turntables. Good music on. Nice retro decor. No tv. Great friendly atmosphere. No food or no take away at the moment, but it's just opened so that may change.

I had my birthday celebration here a few Mondays ago, and it was such a fantastic experience. The manager was incredibly friendly and hospitable — honestly went above and beyond. The venue isn’t usually open on Mondays, but since my 40th fell on a bank holiday Monday, he opened up especially so I could celebrate on the day. It’s a great spot with a lovely atmosphere, and the beers are amazing. I’m a fan of Aperol Spritz, which wasn’t originally on the menu, but Simon kindly added it just for me. That personal touch made the day feel extra special. Highly recommend!

Incredible music, excellent ambience, and delicious drinks. I love how this place brings the community together and organizes community activities such as the Wednesday runs or chess evenings. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to personally participate but looking forward to doing so in the future. It’ll be wonderful if they add some food options and non-alcoholic drinks to their menu. I highly recommend this place.

A welcomed addition to Wood Street! Cosy bar serving a small selection of (great) craft beers. Been here a couple of times with mates and on my own - always super friendly and a nice place to just hang out. Their run club on a Wednesday on a Wednesday every now and again is also good fun! Pork scratching are BANGING

Usually, when you go into Craft Beer places, they're a bit dead and rely on your enthusiasm for craft beer. The Bear isn't like this. They have a shit-load of DJ's on, from Thurs - Sun and they have all sorts of clubs and activities going on. Simon, the owner, is a top bloke and creates a great atmosphere. He always has banter with his customers and is very friendly to new comers. It's one of the friendliest pubs in Walthamstow, the music is great and the beer is top notch!

Feels like a shop that has been quickly turned into a hole-in-the-wall bar, which is exactly what it is. Interesting beer selection, reasonable prices, can get full, limited seating, small bar. One of its usp's is live DJ's most nights (every night?) which adds to the sense of fun. Different and interesting with added pork scratchings. Will definitely go back.
