Locally sourced American fare, brunch, beer & wine

"The neighborhood bar at 5169 Trumbull has a long history: it was first opened by developer Jim Geary in 2008, transitioned to new management in 2018 under local restaurant owners Yanni Dionisopoulos and Spiro Vamvakas, closed during the pandemic, and reopened in June 2020; it is now relaunching again with a new menu and new owners (unnamed at the time of publishing). I saw on Instagram that the food on deck includes gochujang chicken wings, halal sandwiches, a spinach and artichoke dip, and more, and that on weekends the kitchen stays open until 2 a.m." - Emma Orlow

"Opened in 2008 by developer Jim Geary, this neighborhood bar and grill became a popular local destination as the housing market in the area heated up. Geary put the business, building and liquor license on the market in 2017 (initially bundled with nearby parcels) and later listed the standalone operation; it ultimately sold in December to two Greektown operators for $215,000 who will continue to lease the building from the seller. The new operators plan light renovations in spring 2019 and intend to add entertainment such as trivia nights and live bands, while the former owner remains active in nearby redevelopment projects." - Brenna Houck
