Google
This place has amazing pizza and really nice drinks. I got the goat cheese with tomatoes and arugula pizza and my friend got spinach and mushroom and she added sausage. I really liked mine:good flavors and excellent crust and textures. I got the lemon basil drink and it was very refreshing and tasty. 100 percent recommend this place. Ate about half my pizza so get to eat the rest at home. You could easily just split 1 pizza for 2 people.

Google
Loved the atmosphere here which was accompanied by excellent service. The margarita pizza was delicious as well as the various drinks! Went with a group of ten and everyone loved their meals. Would definitely recommend but it is a bit on the pricier side.

Google
The service was fantastic. The pizzas were great. They do have gluten free crusts available. Met with friends for lunch and we loved the food. Lots of good menu choices. Prices very reasonable for thr good quality food.

Google
Absolutely the place to be, I've always heard great things and finally had the time to stop in. The staff is casually welcoming, the atmosphere is wonderfully simultaneous in its ways of being modern and rustic. The FOOD was amazing, hands down. I had myself the Sausage and Bapini served alongside the Tuscon Fries. Phenomenal time, worth the money! Shout out to Elise, their server at the time, you can feel that she's done it for a good while and had the best professionalism and confidence when interacting with us. Thanks, team!

Google
Great choice for pizza, the ingredients in this piece of art were all top of the line. Also, it was cooked in a wood fired oven so that made it taste even more delicious. They, also have a bar so you can enjoy your pie with a glass of 🍺 beer. The place was packed and everyone was in a happy mood to be eating at this great place. Also, the restaurant & restroom were clean and in good order.

Google
Amazing wood fired pizzas that are baked so they have just the right amount of crispness. Even when you order 3 or more of them they all come out still steaming from the oven, so make sure you have drinks on hand in order to not burn your mouth, we had a hard time not digging in immediately to these delicious pies! Luckily there is a good selection of local beers here with lots of variety to choose from

Google
A quaint little Italian Bistro with Exquisite service. Deep fried calamari was perfect, deep fried and good texture. A sausage and mushroom pizza with fresh Mot. A Raspberry/Hyacinth Marg to finish it off. Kendra C was my server…very very nice job! She was courteous, attentive and expeditious. Stop in and say “hi”! Highly recommended!

Google
I took my mom to Woodfire today for lunch. We waited for an extended time to be seated. After being seated, it took roughly 10 minutes to be asked about drinks. We waited more than 10 minutes to receive our drinks. The soda we received was nearly 1/2 clear, yet they were still given to us. Food arrived quickly and tasted delicious. However, we then had to wait about 15 minutes for our check and boxes. Waitress was taking time talking to the other tables. Although there was a handful of tables with customers, the restaurant was not overpacked. Overall, the food is tasty, although the waitress was not the most efficient. I wasn’t looking for quick service, but I felt like we weren’t important or even acknowledged by her. If I want their food again, it’ll be to-go, rather than waiting for an extended amount of time for service.

Yelp
My family and I had a great first experience at Woodfire. The prosciutto pizza was amazing - especially with marinara sauce. The space was clean and relaxing. Our server Jess was nice and welcoming. We look forward to coming back again. Thanks!

Yelp
Really enjoyed the pizza here. Service was great food came out fast. I had a margarita pizza, couldn't finish it so I took the rest home. My dining companion enjoyed the barbecue chicken pizza. It was nice to enjoy beer from Carlyle brewing down the street. The owner owns both Woodfire and Carlyle along with several other properties. Prices were fairly reasonable. I came on a weekday afternoon, in the late afternoon before the crowds came prior to the beginning of the ice hogs game so fortunately there wasn't much customer traffic when I came in. However they were getting busy when I left. This is a good place to go to and they have a lot more than just pizza. Too many choices to mention. Worth a stop.

Yelp
We came in on a tremendously busy weekend so I give the staff some leniency I wouldn't normally. Food is INCREDIBLE. All of our pizzas were delish. Not a single one that wasn't. The only caveat was they didn't put the giardiniera on our pizza before being it out. Service was good. Our server was pretty attentive and it was appreciated. The biggest miss was the missing ingredient on our pizza, but she brought us out a side of it to put on ourselves. There was a moment where they hesitated and didn't know how to handle the situation, which in my eyes is usually a re-make or something else. The side worked but it was a bummer that the giardiniera didn't get cooked with the pizza. It just wasn't the same in my opinion. Ambiance is nice. The interior has a really great view of the big woodfire oven they use, which was fun to watch. The food is made right before your eyes it appears. The tables were fairly basic and nothing to write home about decor wise but it was clean and modern. I'd try again on a less busy night. But overall it was a nice dining experience.

Yelp
Nice pizza dining experience with a plethora of other small options. Love the giant central wood fire oven. No bait and switch here! ATMOSPHERE/ARCHITECTURE: 10/10 Quaint decor with, you guessed it, a gigantic wood fire brick oven front and center in the kitchen. It blasts a warm aura throughout the meal and makes for great presence. SERVICE: 9/10 Server was excellent. Very friendly and knew the menu well. Food came out quick and promptly. No complaints. FOOD: 9/10 Overall, really very good. Tried the BBQ chicken pizza and that was fantastic. Something about wood fire oven pizza crust just gives it the utmost edge over everything else. Good sauce with a strong combination topping. Calamari was also excellent. Flavored well and crispy. Tried crème brûlée for dessert not expecting too much but this was amazing! Creamy inside with a crispy crust on top. Only complaint is I prefer a thick crust top but this was a fantastic dessert. VALUE: 8/10 PROBABILITY OF RETURN: 10/10 Been planning my return for a few weeks. TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT: Eat and enjoy! OVERALL: 9/10

Yelp
We stopped by for lunch. We ordered drinks, their parmesan fries, pasta, and salad. Overall an awesome place. The food was good quality. Fries were amazing. We asked for pastas on the menu (lunch menu) does have them. The server was nice to give us dinner menu and allowed us to order the pastas. We added on some veggies - they only add $1 additional per veggie added - very nice. Ambiance is nice - there is good music playing. Seems like a pretty good place in Rockford.

Yelp
Woodfire Brick oven you've stolen a pizz-a my heart Recently becoming a pizzaiola myself I find it hard to find a pizza that lives up to my own but this place almost does it. Take me back to Italy with the besto pesto pizza and a 24 dollar bottle of Chianti Classico. I am in heaven. Cool downtown old building and nice folks. Looking for your Friday night pizza spot... look no further.

Yelp
Long car ride in from out of town and we were starving! We always stop for pizza in the Chicagoland area and were all talking pizza and I came to the trusted Yelp and it did not disappoint with the suggestion! We drove around a bit, the restaurant didn't open until four. We were greeted right away and sat in a prime spot if you ask me. We could see out towards the street and we could see the pizza oven!! The salad came out pretty quick, maybe ten or so minutes the pizzas came out after that. They were hot, and had the wood fire char on the crust. The gluten free crust was excellent. As my fellow GF eaters can attest to, pizza crust is either a solid 7/10 and above OR a big swing and miss. This was definitely a nine at the least. On the both the GF and regular crusts, it was airy. My dad wasn't the biggest fan of airy crust. The toppings were a good mashup. The cheese has that real cheese texture, for sure noticeable!! The meats are complimentary bits of extra goodness. The spicy honey was more sweet than spicy my brother said. Overall, he is excited for leftovers! Put aside the fact that we were starving and Chicago natives / pizza lovers, this place is a BIG win. Great food, friendly staff, if I'm in the area, I will definitely try to return.

Yelp
Awesome gluten free crust pizza! Quite the popular place. We got there at 4 and it filled up slightly after. Service was spot on and superb woodfire oven pizza.

Cecilia L.

Yelp
Seated with drink menu only and the host said he will get menus for us right away, then they forgot about us, just happened also no waitress coming to greet us or asking for a drink.... Waited 15 minutes before I asked a girl if someone can get us a menu, she did get 1 from the bar. For a small restaurant that's a long time to be ignored, it's not the restaurant was packed, a waitress was holding hands and talking with the guy who seated us and said he was going to get menu. Food is always good. 2 adults and a kid, our bill was $92, tipped $20 but is this service really deserving the tip? Not really. I hope they do better next time

Yelp
Took a good minute after being seated to be attended to. Waitress was also running the bar, even though the staff was everywhere. 5/5 for ambiance. Definitely a nice place to chill before a comedy show. Pizza was not the greatest but I've had worse. Very floppy. Cheese through the roof. Price was pretty steep for a 12". Would try again, if I had to.

Yelp
Went here for the 1st time this weekend and definitely plan to be back! It's a smaller spot with great pizza and drinks. We had the Raspberry Lemon martini and Blood orange margarita, both were delicious. Then for food we had the chicken bacon ranch pizza. Our pizza came as we requested with jalapeños on the side. Veggies are cut super thin... Also, the chicken wasn't your "cubed chicken" it was more of a pulled chicken that tasted great by itself too. They were busy, we were fortunate to get a table right away. I should note they weren't able to take parties over 6 on a Friday night- just incase you have a larger group, you might want to call ahead.

Patton H.

Yelp
The pizza is amazing, everything about the restaurant was great in general. The service is great all the servers are nice and very attentive. The restaurant environment is great and I really like the how it looks and feels when you're inside.

Yelp
An unexpected treat in downtown Rockford. We came here before an IceHogs game. Although we thought we were early, we actually got one of the few remaining tables. Service was cheerful and efficient, despite the crowds. Prices were very reasonable. Our party of five ordered five different pizzas, all of which were excellent. And special props to the staff for letting us move to the bar. My husband & I were seated at a table for two, but when the rest of our party arrived unexpectedly, we asked to be moved. With no open tables, we lucked out by finding 5 seats at the bar. The service never missed a beat. Definitely hope to make this a regular pregame dinner stop.

Yelp
The service is on point! Sat at the bar tonight to place a to go order. Friendly bar tender and great "bar talk". Burrata is chefs kiss and their pizzas are fire!! I don't know what they do the dough/ crust but it's nice and salty and really adds depth to the overall flavor! 5 stars all day!

Yelp
Everything on the menu was pretty great. GREAT selection of beer on draft, cocktails, and wine. I had a locally brewed pale ale which was very refreshing and paired very nicely with the rest of the food. I REALLY wanted to try more of the appetizers but... I would't be able to finish so much food. Instead, we ordered the Caesar salad and fries - both of which were amazing (the fries i ended up pretty much eating all of them by myself...). We also ordered a pepperoni pizza and a Sausage with Rapini and Ricotta...both were absolutely amazing. Coming here was a treat and would definitely encourage anyone looking to get a solid brick oven pizza with awesome beer to come here and give it a try.
google avatar

Ariel B.

Yelp
The food here is delicious! We had the sausage with rapini and ricotta along with the Sausage Giardiniera pizza. We also had a wonderful burrata that he had for an appetizer. For three people it was a lot of bread, wish we opted for the octopus instead, but the flavor, derive, and ambience did not lack. We did have a bit of a wait between orders and the drinks were pricy, but the company was fun in the meantime.
google avatar

Kellee F.

Yelp
Ate here during a recent family roadtrip. Atmosphere was cozy and service was fast. Ordered two pizzas & the food was on the table within twenty minutes. I've had better gluten free crusts but not bad at all. Great downtown Rockford spot for dinner.

Yelp
Love love this place. So glad this came when it did several years back. Fantastic drinks (including a full bar and local beers), friendly/fun/helpful staff, good desserts, and of course, amazing pizza. If you just want a cheap mediocre pizza this probably isn't the place for you, but if you want a specialty, made-just-for-you creation hot out of the brick oven, then come here. Between my wife and I, our favorites are the sausage and mushroom, prosciutto and arugula, and a dark horse for me is definitely the BBQ chicken. Not something I'd normally get but man do they do it well with a peach cilantro glaze. They also have vegan cheese which I've been earnestly hoping for from all the pizza places around town and hardly anyone does it except these guys. It actually tastes great too!

Tyanna T.

Yelp
TERRIBLE! All waitress do is talk shit and forget to put in orders because they're too busy talking shit if i could give a zero i would

Yelp
Six Friends and I went to Woodfire in Rockford Last night {12/22/23} we sat and or stood for 1 1/2 hours , still we were not seated . We watched table after table come in the door and be seated.,while a 6 seater table was left empty because they refused to set another chair at that table. We got up and Left. They lost all 7 of us as customers along with whoever the next 10 people we choose to tell of the poor customer service we received. We all agreed that if we had been told our party was too big for accommodations we would have left and thanked them for their honesty . As it was we had a 90 year old father who was way past his dinnertime.. Johns Pizza was more than happy to receive our patronage, and we were able to be seated immediately. I do have to give a kudos to the bartender for pleading our case to the hostesses only to be outnumbered...

Janet H.

Yelp
Went on a Friday at ~5 prior to a show at BMO. Had called earlier and told no reservations. Yet there were two tables with reserved signs. I asked and was told there were for the owners friends. Those tables sat open for an hour and more before occupied. In that time they could have served up to 12 customers. Plus there was only one bartender making the wait very long to get a drink while waiting for a table. We finally got our table after waiting for an hour. Thank goodness our waitress was wonderful. I think the owners need to make adjustments on busy nights to better serve customers and not play favoritism. I saw people walk away.

Yelp
This was my first time at this great restaurant. The menu was very well put together! We had a couple of pizzas, for appetizers we had calamari and it was one of the best we had!! Also, the ambience and service was fantastic‼‼ The food was delicious. We also had a chopped salad and the Tuscan fries was scrumptious‼ We had the mango, peach sangrias which was really tasty. We were waited by the amazing, friendly & knowledgeable Livvie. This young lady was really great at her job with a smile she served us very well! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in town you simply must stop by unfortunately, there's no reservations but, it's worth the wait! And the wait wasn't long either‼

Lisa F.

Yelp
The service was not the best but other then that the food was great and good price and portions

Julia J.

Yelp
my absolute favorite pizza restaurant of ALL TIME. and i'm being serious. their margarita is absolutely amazing, everything done on it is right. not only their pizza is the best i've ever had, anyone i bring here absolutely loves the food. another one of my favs is the pesto gnocchi. they make it in the house and it is soooo delish. it's a little bit oily from the olive oil base but nothing to actually complain about. this restaurant has amazing service, and i would highly recommend coming to the restaurant during the summer on fridays for city market. they also typically have a pizza stand in the market. a great place to bring friends and family!

Kevin R.

Yelp
Called Woodfire tonight to make a reservation for a Friday, was rudely told "we don't do reservations on Fridays" before nearly being hung up on. I got in a response, "can I ask you a question?" With a huff he said "yeah". I asked "how busy is a Friday if I come at 6pm?" With pure attitude i was told "we have four events, we'll be busy". To which I responded, "with your attitude I wont be spending my money at Woodfire,". I've enjoyed their food in the past but will not be back with my money or my organizations money with work events and meals. No, thank you.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Still as great as ever. Pizza is always in point. Appetizers are great and decent selections for draft beer.
google avatar

Suzie H.

Yelp
Best pizza spot in Rockford! The prosciutto and arugula pizza is my favorite but everything is amazing.
google avatar

Brian D.

Yelp
I've decided after many many visits to Woodfire to update my review from 4 stars to 5 stars. To begin, all the pizza is fantastic but I've now had a few of the pasta dishes and they are all out of this world. Favorites are the pesto gnocchi and tagliatelli. The meatball appetizer is also A+ so make sure you try this. Big flavor and great to share. The wine selection is good as well, my favorite being the house Cab. For desert try the tiramisu and premium fresh ground coffee. You 100% cannot go wrong at this place.
google avatar

Alan G.

Yelp
Excellent Neapolitan style pizzas with large menu. I had the octopus appetizer, which was yummy. Service was top notch. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Karen B.

Yelp
Fantastic Italian in downtown Rockford. I've been here several times and never been disappointed. Even my ornery Italian uncle has been impressed. Their wine list could use some work but their cocktail list has great variety and they're tasty! Pizzas are always delish and their homemade pasta tastes just like what I make in my kitchen. Service has always been pleasant. Their bathrooms were freezing on my last visit, as a heads up. Otherwise, a great place to frequent when I'm back in the hometown.

Kim A.

Yelp
My first time there & way cool spot! There on a Saturday around 2:30pm but still 4 tables of people. The 2 of us had a beer & a mixed drink & ordered an appetizer. Some amazing melted haavarti fried dough balls!! Then split a pizza. Chose the prosciutto arugula red sauced one. Was super yummy! Attentive wait staff. Beautiful building. Great food!

Yelp
Was looking for a place to eat in Rockford Illinois, and found this place on the main street. This restaurant is very clean and the staff are really friendly. The ambience has a nice urban feel and they accommodate seating outside too. They are known for their brickoven pizzas but serve so much more. They have from artisan appetizers to homemade pasta with roman style gnocchi and oxtail. Prices are very affordable especially for kids. They even box up your food for you when you have left overs....talk about hospitality! Here is what we had...mind you it was simple but yummy: Child's pepperoni pizza Margherita Pizza Both were so good, perfect thin crispy crust and gooey cheese. The pepperoni was crispy on the sides and cooked perfectly to the middle. I love the authentic taste of each bite. Another plus, they have their own local beer on tap which my hubby says is delish. Overall I would definitely recommend this place if you are ever in Rockford and we will be back to eat before we end our trip!

Sarah G.

Yelp
Lobster pizza is my favorite. Salads are great too. Staff is very friendly and organized. Never had a bad experience here. Ambiance is cozy too.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the pizza and the service I'm sure you will love it. I recommend the neopolitin it was Devine.
google avatar

Dana M.

Yelp
Woodfire is a go-to for us. We love taking guests from out of town. The food is great, the staff is personable and the price is so reasonable.
google avatar

Becky B.

Yelp
Probably my favorite pizza place ever! Quality, fresh ingredients. Love trying the different sangrias they create. Service is top notch. Laid back, friendly atmosphere. Try the giant meatball!

Antonia P.

Yelp
I've given Woodfire very good reviews in the past but tonight isn't worthy of one. Tonight we were celebrating a birthday and came with a group of people. I tried calling days prior for a reservation which they don't take for Saturday nights. The staff was rude and it was almost as if they didn't want to cater to a party of 9. Some of our party got there early and when myself and the birthday man arrived not long after, even my most levelheaded and nicest friend was upset with how they were acting. We were so confused on why they were so rude... after a debate we decided to stay and most of the party enjoyed the food. Also when discussing on the phone days prior when I tried to make the reservation, we talked about my bringing a cake. They said they'd give us plates and silverware for it and that's it-turns out they charge $2 a person for basically not eating THEIR dessert. They never mentioned until we arrived, the automatic 20% tip (which is only deserved with good and nice service!). Normally we routinely tip 22-25% for a GOOD experience. They don't split the bill and said snippily: make sure you have someone capable of covering the check. The attitude tonight was disappointing and downright confusing as to why these girls chose violence (words obviously). The woman who sat us and had been rude to us (manager or hostess?) did everything she could to avoid even looking out direction the entire time we were there-like we did something wrong! Not your finest night Woodfire.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
A group of 7 of us girls came to Woodfire at 7pm on a Saturday night. The place was busy, but there were multiple tables open. The host never said hello, didn't smile, just said, "how many?" We told her 7 and she looked down and said we would have to wait for a table. We asked if we could push together 2 tables together that were open and she said she would have to ask her manager. She came back & told us her manager said no. She seemed annoyed. I wish she would have been more polite and explained to us why, but instead just told us we have to wait. This honestly put a bad taste in our mouths about the experience; the host is the first impression of your visit and should be friendly and always have a SMILE! My friends and I all ordered a pizza. I got the prosciutto & arugula pizza. The crust was amazing, great sauce & cheese! There was too much arugula for my liking, so I picked a lot of it off, but it was overall really yummy! Our server was kind & patient with our group and easily split our check. I'd order food to go - but I don't think I would come back for a visit because of the hosts.
google avatar

Arkadiusz S.

Yelp
We dropped in here 15 min before closing after having some drinks at two places across the street. Even though they were getting ready to close one of the waitresses welcomed us and told us that the kitchen was close but we could still order a pizza. Most of the tables had chairs on them but she found us a table. Got one sun dried tomatoes and goat cheese pizza and it was delicious. The pizza came out very quickly and was perfectly done. Thank you to our waitress and the pizza chef for feeding us so late and right before closing. You guys made our night.
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
We aren't from the area and decided to give Woodfire a shot while visiting to see a performance at Coronado PAC. This is an amazing spot! We had the sausage & pepperoni pizza, as well as the white pizza. Both absolutely wonderful! The apple cider sangria was great, as was the beer flight where you get to choose any 4 beers to try off the menu. Highly recommend the pretzel lager and the Woodfire blonde ale.
google avatar

Meg T.

Yelp
The crust! Omg the crust! It's so freaking good! I highly recommend the Lobster Pizza, it's to die for!! It's very rich and filling, a little oily, so be careful if you have stomach issues. Two people can easily share this pizza. We've always had great service and the atmosphere is very hip. All around a great choice! Just hope you can get a table! It's a popular place, for good reason!
google avatar

Trace N.

Yelp
I swear the drinks get better and the pizza gets more inconsistent. No rating change, just satisfaction changes. Pizza has not been cooked well the last few times I've eaten here. Mozzarella is sliding off and not covering multiple sections on a slice... Service as always is good, especially Caesar.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
Definitely my favorite pizza in Rockford. Pizza cooked in a woodfire (!) pizza oven just tastes better: the crust stays thin and crispy and the cheese soft for those photogenic cheese pulls. I recommend the roasted red pepper and goat cheese pizza (though you really can't go wrong with any of them) and the basil pesto gnocchi with added chicken if you want a pasta. They do have wine and cocktails as well, so you can make a night of it. The ambiance is trendy and it's quiet enough to socialize. Also, as good as the pizza is it is about just as good the next day. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Ammar A.

Yelp
Margherita pizza was great, veggie pizza was not... the vegetables all seemed raw and not grilled or cooked. Will come here again to try done other pizzas due to the dissatisfaction
google avatar

Horst A.

Yelp
Love the pizza there. One of the best in Rockford. The wine flight is great too. Great tasting
google avatar

Tera N.

Yelp
Loved the wood fire pizza ale but lots of local brews to try! Got our order to go and ordered from the bar. The bartender was very helpful with beers and the menu! Ordered the chopped salad. The lettuce was not chopped- but the other ingredients seemed to be. We liked that vinaigrette and the green beans added a flair of the unexpected. The pizza we chose was the rosemary sausage with white sauce. It was spot on. The pizzas are a tad on the small size so plan accordingly If you come in hungry!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Really good. We stopped here because not a lot else was open but we were surprised with great service and pretty good pizzas. The music is a little loud and rock style, but other than that it was a nice cool oasis out of the heat. Tables are social distanced and staff all wore masks and gloves. Overall felt very comfortable here enjoying a nice lunch.
google avatar

Emma W.

Yelp
The chicken pizza was pretty good except the chicken seemed tough. The vibe of the restaurant is fun though.
google avatar

Barb L.

Yelp
We have had several of their pizzas and all were delicious. I love the chewy crust. Also you must try other dishes too. Great salads and other dishes. Staff is friendly and great service.
