The 38 Best Restaurants in Hong Kong | Eater

"Tsim Sha Tsui is known as a hub for Hong Kong’s Indian community, so it’s little surprise that the city’s oldest Indian vegetarian restaurant is here. Woodlands is a predominantly South Indian restaurant, meaning dosas are the name of the game, and spice fiends have been digging into these massive, crispy pancakes for almost 40 years. We went to Woodlands twice during our visit to Hong Kong - this place is amazing ! It's great for vegan food preferences too, as well as vegetarian options. We tried the rava dosa, the vadas (their crispness is to die for!), the idli fry, and the upma. Their podi (gunpowder) is so flavorful. We were thoroughly satisfied with the place - highly recommend! Special shout out to Gopa and Vidhya, who both attended to us. They were both so sweet, very friendly, and very helpful. Staff like them make your experience doubly memorable and make it beyond just the food (which is plenty tasty already).

I am being a pure vegetarian with too much phobia of non veg mixing... I found one beautiful restaurant with delicious food... Items are like so yummy and remind you your homely food...

The best Indian vegetarian food in Hong Kong where the taste and flavors are insanely authentic!!! The service is always warm and impeccable. One should never miss their perfect filter coffee and mango lassi!!! Also the only place in HK where one can get the longest crispiest Dosa.

An excellent authentic Indian south Indian based cuisine restaurant that serves pretty much everything a vegetarian eating person would relish in Hongkong. From the regular street style food to south Indian to North Indian Punjabi style food, the menu is extensive. The manager was very attentive to serve us well and really made us feel at home. A must visit for those who like Indian cuisine or crave for home style food when visiting Hongkong.

We had an excellent dinner at Woodlands Wan Chai. All items were super tasty and authentic. Served really hot and fresh. Ambience was also very warm and friendly. Excellent service by Vidya who helped to serve on our table. Overall highly recommend. They also have a branch in Tsim Sha Tsui which we did not go to.

**A Culinary Gem for Every Taste!** I recently dined at this wonderful food establishment and was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. The menu caters to everyone, offering a wide range of vegetarian, vegan, and Jain options, which is a huge plus for those with dietary preferences or restrictions. The cleanliness of the place stood out immediately, and the service was truly excellent—friendly, attentive, and prompt. The atmosphere was inviting and vibrant, making it a perfect spot for both families and friends. What really sets this place apart is the incredible variety of dishes from across India. From North Indian classics to flavorful South Indian specialties, there’s something for everyone. The starters were delicious, but the highlight for me was the **masala dosa**—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The showstopper, however, was their signature **Family Dosa**. This impressive dish is a four-foot-long, paper-thin, crispy pancake, served with an array of fillings like potato masala, paneer masala, mushroom masala, and vegetable masala. It comes with a variety of chutneys and sambar, and it’s truly a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Sharing this unique dish was a memorable experience! We also tried the **dal makhani**, which was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Every bite was a delight, and you could really taste the care and authenticity in each dish. Overall, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic Indian dining experience. Whether you’re a vegetarian, vegan, or just a lover of good food, you won’t be disappointed!

We visited the restaurant 2-3 times for dinner during our Hong Kong visit. The food was tasty, portion size was good, place was neat and clean, staff was polite and professional. Overall, it was a good experience at a place we did not expect. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was excellent but it gets a bit shady outside at night but NOT unsafe.
