In some ways, I'm glad that I moved out of the Outer Sunset because the recent opening of Woods Beer Co is dangerous! Or maybe I just needed a silver lining to moving away from my amazing roommates. Anyways, we discovered this place on the way to our usual spot, Pittsburgh Pub. Unfortunately it closed earlier (10pm) than we were out that night, but we made a note for the future.
After having dinner at Outlerlands, and en route to Pittsburgh, we decided to make a stop at Woods Beer Co. It was practically empty. The place looked so pristine! There were colorful fresh flowers on the counter in cute little vases, with candles next to them. We had a seat and perused the limited but sufficient menu. Apparently half the menu consists of brews available at all times. The other half consists of rotating drafts.
Between the three of us, we tried almost all the beers on the menu. My roommate fell in love with the Local Honey beer, which my favorite was (of course) the Islay IPA. It's a very whiskey tasting beer. I've never tasted brews like the ones here at Woods Beer Co, which is a good thing! The bartender was explaining the history of the place and chatting with us. It made us feel at-home already, even though it's a new bar and our first time.
We had just eaten, but they cater empanadas here, which my roommate and I usually eat at the Ferry Building downtown. That's awesome, considering empanadas are more filling than pretzels and nuts and not enough of a commitment to have a full-fledged kitchen. Perfect. Next time I visit my former roommates in Outer Sunset, I'll likely be back at Woods Beer Co, or even check out the other locations around the city, depending on my mood. Again, great addition to the neighborhood!
