Few places in MoCo remind me of the food in the Midwest. One of us ordered the most legit Chicken Fried Steak and eggs I have seen this side of the Mississippi. Next time it will be me ordering that … a bite was shared and now I am wondering how soon we can return. My Reuben was also amazing and the onion rings were just adding to my nostalgia. Service was very pleasant. Had I noticed sooner they had a Flying Dog option, would have had a beer. The menu is huge and we look forward to next time.

Walking in I was greeted right away. I was asked if I was going to dine in or takeout. I said dine in and was handed a menu and was told I can pick any seat. The waitress came over and took my order. Breakfast Burrito, Blueberry Pancakes and Coffee! She asked what I wanted with the Pancakes. She mention potatoes, tomato’s. I opt’ed for the tomatoes since it was already going to be a good amount of food. I did ask if I could get a spicy mayo with the burrito. Sadly she said no. It comes with a salsa. Coffee was good hot and fresh. Food came out. Everything was hot and yummy. The burrito had a classic omelette flavor. The salsa didn’t really add much to it. Sour cream was also served with it. I doubt I would get it again. I would just get a omelette. The pancakes were loaded with blueberries. Phenomenal! Service was great! The waitress refilled my coffee 3 times. The aesthetics, it feels like the deli could use an update. You can tell it’s an older place. Still clean and all the plates, silverware, glasses were clean. Some people might be put off by how the deli looks inside. Overall very good experience!

My fiancé and I really loved this location from the service to the homey feel and delicious food. We got everything fresh and even the baked items were just delivered today freshly made. We got a wide range of items from pancakes to waffles and a sandwich. I got sides of corned beef hash and bacon. I will continue to come here and put more people onto this hidden gem.

Absolutely fabulous. Fantastic food and everyone who works there are absolutely awesome.

Google
We dine at the Deli for over 20 years. What makes it such a treat is the willingness to deliver a quality comfort meal. The entire staff are always friendly and interested to make sure the meal meets your expectations and have breakfast lunch or dinner any time. They still hold standards of quality for many meals like subs burgers and on and on. Thank you Deli!

Google
Was that this restaurant yesterday and the food was okay and very overpriced. I ordered three pancakes, two eggs, and bacon and a total price was $24. Three pancakes were $15. I will never return to this restaurant again. And I don't suggest anybody to return if you want to pay $15 for 3 pancakes.

Google
I've been a fan of Woodside Deli in Germantown for decades. It's not fancy, but the food is always good and the people are welcoming and so nice. All-day breakfast is a big hit.

Google
Didn't like the food. Especially rice, it tastes disgusting and I eat different food. Too much gravy on a sandwich and turkey sandwich with gravy is also disgusting. And didn't look appealing too. The silverware was old and bent. Water was tap, I didn't even think they filtered it. Waiter was ok.

Tara P.

Yelp
the best pancakes I've had in a long time .. some of the best I've ever had, definitely top 3! we had a blueberry short stack, I highly recommend

Yelp
This review is for the creamed chipped (alleged) beef. Flavorless mush. I got it on "buttermilk biscuits" which were not recognizable as such (assume this would apply to the sausage gravy). The topping had literally no taste other than less than mediocre white gravy. There was no beef taste in the gravy. I tasted the beef with a forkful of just beef-nothing. I could kick myself for being too lazy for the Dutch Market. Roy Rogers would have been way better.

Yelp
Good food with ok prices. Nice, casual atmosphere. Service is friendly. A very good deli. Retro food. Enjoy.

Rudy Y.

Yelp
Had the omelet and pancakes. Very good and would highly recommend this place for some good breakfast.

Yelp
Picked up 3 sandwiches to take to HMB for a beach picnic dinner. The sandwiches were so good. The new owners and the employees were so polite and made the sandwiches perfectly!

Yelp
This day the experience with 1 of the waitresses was not the usual pleasant food service experience. She had her hair in a style without a hair net. She was not the usual waitress I have been served the food I ordered. This waitress is normally efficient and pleasant to a CUSTOMER. The one described above, made a very unprofessional very uncalled for. The only 1 time I had the different less than good food service experience, the Deli was not that busy, at all, a few Customers, this Waitress was now someone who did her job with the pleasant food service manners, this waitress took an extremely long time to arrive at the table, the order took a very, very time and the food was served slightly warm, not hot for the kitchen. That was something I noticed. First time for the Woodside Deli. The Silver Spring, Rockville, MD locations were the BEST Woodside Deli's. This morning she let her emotions rule her mannerism. She spoke to me unappropriately and then when I asked he to let me know WHY anything was mentioned, she walked away, began tossing the wash cloths and began spraying the tables like the were Gallons to USE up. Then I mentioned, did I leave her a gratuity?? Then she began to Cry. Please Woodside Deli, ask the wait table works to have a wonderful day! Cheer up - is it that bad Waitress?? -*

Yelp
This place has been a mainstay, but I think the ride is coming to an end. Went there for lunch today. Two of the refrigerator cases near the rear of the restaurant are empty with boxes of different things sitting on them. Very unappealing. The place needs a good cleaning. They used to have good food. I had by far the worst Rueben I've ever had anywhere. I only ate 1/2 of it. Meat was fatty and full of gristle. Sauerkraut was dry. Did not taste good. Likely our last trip there.

Rita D.

Yelp
The service was quick, the hostess couldn't have been more attentive and the food was excellent. Although it was packed with people, the wait was not long at all. We will return here for sure.

Joyce J.

Yelp
First time patriot. I ordered the seafood platter, was informed they were out of crab cakes. So I opted for extra shrimp as replacement for crab cake. Fish and shrimp were comparable to a bland frozen food dinner. One star with this review.

Scott M.

Yelp
Was here for breakfast. Omelette was good size and tasty. Home fries were also good. However, only 2 bagels to choose from, plain or everything. I choose Everything. Was tasteless and was absolutely grocery store variety bagel. Disappointing for a deli... The big ding, waitress asks would you like butter or cream cheese with the bagel. I said Cream cheese. The check comes at the end and I'm charged $1.05 extra for the cream cheese. REALLY sneaky and devious. Waitress never mentioned there is extra charge. Its ok, came right out of her tip. It was also kinda expensive for what we got, eggs......

Yelp
My review is based on our take out experience. I haven't eaten "in" since prior to COVID, but I have done take out breakfasts 2 or 3 times the past year. They serve breakfast all day long, so you can do breakfast for dinner too. We ordered ham and cheese omelets with hash browns and rye toast. The other time we also added a side of bacon. Both times our orders were ready for pickup, when they said and they were accurate. The prices were on par with what I'd expect in the area for this type of meal. The food was good and what you'd expect from a diner. The not so great is their paper/cardboard containers they use to package the food. Mine sprung a hole before I finished eating. They get soggy really quickly when they get hot. I know Montgomery county is making businesses go paper over plastic, so I'm sure that's why. But these particular containers don't hold up well for take out. The staff on the phone was pleasant enough, but both my check out experiences weren't that friendly. Hey but our food was hot and tasted good and our orders were accurate. So I would go there for take out again.

Yelp
Great little deli. Has all the deli favorites and a couple of surprises. Portions are good, service is good, food is excellent.

Elaine F.

Yelp
This place is always a favorite for comfort food, and I have moved farther away, so I get there rarely. I met a friend for brunch today. I ordered the Lox Benedict. It is the kind of item you can't get just anywhere, and it was SO good. It comes with a side, so I ordered grits. A nice neighborhood stop for all your favorite foods, for breakfast and for the rest of the day.

Arista W.

Yelp
Now I haven't been here for anything outside of lunch but the sandwich I got was so damn good lol. I got The Baby Jane and it was so nice and cheesy and salty due to the ham and bacon. It was also a hearty sandwich so I only ate half at a time. My husband wasn't happy with the portion of his steak and cheese but that is his business and he will need to post his own review lol. My best friend enjoyed the brunch so I plan to visit that in the near future.

Yelp
This place is dishonest. I ordered the Mediterranean platter, which comes with hummus and tahini sauce. Apparently, they were out of hummus. But rather than tell me that, they substituted it with a second serving of tahini sauce, thinking I wouldn't notice. When I did notice and brought it to their attention, they continually denied it and then finally admitted they were out of hummus. I asked the waitress what they were going to do about it to make it right & she said I could talk to the manager. Long story short, the manager refused to apologize and only took $1 off my $16 order. They should have just been honest with me in the first place, so I could have had the opportunity to order something else.

Jason B.

Yelp
Great breakfast menu and the burrito is wonderful. Very tasty food. Will eat here again next time on the area.

Daniel A.

Yelp
This may be their 3rd location that I'm aware of since I moved into the county but the food hasn't changed. What makes it stand out from other delis is their wonderful breakfast menu. It's filling and just all around good food.

Christopher D C.

Yelp
Great food. Super friendly and attentive staff. Old school feel with interesting pictures on the wall. A neighborhood favorite.

Deborah B.

Yelp
Always a fan, day or night. The service, even when it's busy is friendly. Check out their daily specials for great food, good prices, and huge portions. The lox and bagel platter is enough to feed 2-3 people. Pancakes are light and fluffy and the bacon can come out floppy or crisp, that is how attentive they are!

Vincent H.

Yelp
No one should ever eat here, ever. Absolutely deplorable and rude service from Amir and Phil. They got every item in our delivery order incorrect to the point where we couldn't eat it, because we don't eat pork. When we called, Amir was unengaged and completely lacking in any empathy or situational awareness. They he got his manager, Phil, and went straight to customer service Hell from there. His solution was to be rude to us, offer no resolution for havingade all of our food wrong, and to treat us like we committed the wrong towards them. He used such language as "I'm not talking to you right now," and "so what's the problem?" The problem is you are rude, unprofessional, don't take ownership of your operation, and harass and assault your customers. I've seen lying and cheating siblings treat each other with better respect than the two staff members we spoke to treated us. It is a crime that I even need to give them one star. They don't deserve it. They don't deserve their jobs and this restaurant doesn't deserve your patronage.

Lynda W.

Yelp
Great food and great staff. The food is always delicious and well prepared. The omlete I had recently was wonderful. Thanks Lynda W

Yelp
Horrible customer service! DO NOT order take-out from them. I ordered to go from them and was given the wrong order. When I called back to let them know they messed-uo my order, Amir was quick to tell me "no". Then when I preceeded to let them know they did mess-up, he grabbed someone else to take over the call (without informing me he was). The person who answered was supposedly the manager (Phil). He was quick to argue back as well. He didn't once recognize that they messed-up packing my order and was quick to tell me he can't help. When I proceeded to tell them they gave me meat I can't even eat (ham/pork), he again DID NOT offer any form of resolution or even a sincere apology. I told him my husband tried the piece of the meat & confirmed that it smells + tastes like ham. It is ham. He then had the audacity to tell me he would just not take my orders. I used to LOVE eating at Woodside Deli, and have been going to them for years. I will NOT be returning to them & make sure noone I know does. I would be embarrassed to recommend them & have them treated as poorly!

Yelp
Well, it's been a year since my first review of this place; so we went back today. They serve breakfast until 11 AM, according to what I read on their menu. But hey, when I asked Eddie what happens if someone comes in at 11:30 for Breakfast he didn't hesitate to answer "We feed them!". Eddie did a phenomenal job keeping up with us, said he's been there for three years now. The place was packed to the gills. We love the eclectic decor - a popular adjective in interior design parlance, meaning a decor that comprises heterogeneous elements -- a mixture of textures, time periods, styles, trends, and colors. The walls are full of framed photos and advertisements from by-gone eras. The Menu - Just look at "IT" Wow! Too many choices will forever keep us coming back. We figured it was just a typo on the price for Scrapple, we were exactly right! My coffee with two over-easies, Homefries (extra crispy), Scrapple, Rye Toast, a side of Sausage Gravy with a nice Buttermilk Biscuit was simply Amm-azz-ing! I just could not finish my last bite - lol. The wife ordered their Italian Omelette, Hot Tea and Whole Wheat Toast. So good!

Tracy T.

Yelp
My fiancé and I were happy to get out for breakfast again after so long. Wood aide is basically our option in Germantown so we went there. Typically you can't go wrong with their breakfast food, however today was different. He ordered the eggs Benedict with salmon and I ordered the regular one. Both came out with the hollandaise sauce ice cold, like it just came from fridge. We told the waitress, she took them back, and obviously they just microwaved them because they came right back. Well they were luke warm now but the poached eggs were way over cooked. My fiancé sent his back for a new one. But once again the sauce was ice cold. He said forget it at this point and didn't want it. I also notice it was serviced with just regular ham and not Canadian bacon. I asked the waitress about that and she said that she didn't even know what Canadian bacon was, SMH. The owner was also not very helpful. Just kept giving excuses of why the sauce was cold and why they can't keep it warm because something will happen to the sauce itself. I'm sorry, no excuses to serve ice cold food! He kept saying he hears this from other customers too. Well then maybe you should fix the problem or stop serving it! It's a shame because I didn't eat mine and I was really craving eggs Benny.

Neta H.

Yelp
this place has good food but i really think it should not cost 50$ for breakfast maybe lunch or dinner but never breakfast

Iris C.

Yelp
Not sure why it's taken so long to eat here for brunch - I've often heard good things about this place. The restaurant is quaint, with the buzzing of low conversation and attentive servers. Our server was super nice. They have a pretty big menu so you could be there for days if you don't decide on the type of meal you want (lunch, brunch, or breakfast). We had the Eggs Benedict, steak and eggs, and French toast. The eggs for the Benedict was a bit too runny but still good. Hollandaise wasn't too bad either. The home fries were well seasoned and a nice side to the Benedict. Loved the French toast - crispy on the outside and softer inside. Sadly i forgot the leftover French toast and didn't get to enjoy it later. The steak with the steak and eggs was a bit tough but not terrible. Coffee wasn't bad - better than some diners. There's actually a coffee menu with lattes that looks lovely. Will have to stop by one morning to grab some before work! The mimosa wasn't bad either. It's definitely a go to place for brunch that we'll return to. It has a nice environment, attentive servers, and good food. The menu is large so there are many more opportunities to try new items!

Joseph S.

Yelp
Worst meal ever. We went for an early dinner before church and had the "special" Brisket sandwich. It came with mashed potatoes and lots of gravy on everything. Not really sure the meat was actually brisket, but am sure it was tough, fatty and tasteless. The excessive gravy was likely from a bottle or a can. We were very hungry but could barely eat any of it. The service, however, was very good. We have been there many times, years ago, and were disappointed. Not sure we will ever go back. It used to be that local place with good food and friendly service. Ugh.

Taitia E.

Yelp
Recently moved to the area and wanted to try something different. Food was good, typical diner-ish meals. Ruth waited on us and was super nice, made us feel welcomed. We both got burgers, the Rex and the General. The Rex has sauerkraut, Swiss and thousand island dressing, like a Reuben burger. The General was a bacon cheeseburger. Both came with Cole slaw and fries. There is plenty of seating. Breakfast is served all day.

Jacques S.

Yelp
Delies like this are comforting. All the basic foods that you'd expect, but plenty of others to. Better than going to a chain restaurant. Comfortable seating. I think they are open till 9 pm. I don't know if the other location at downtown Rockville is another option. The music is low, not like some of the other diners in the area. Closest other option would be The Silver Diner in Gaithersburg at Río. This app still wants me to type more.

Dee D.

Yelp
This place is worth trying a second time. We had breakfast and as we walked in the door we were greeted with a great big hello. We were seated promptly and the server came quickly to offer us drinks. The food was good as was the coffee. Our server came several times to check on us to see how we were doing and to refill our drinks. The hostess picked up our check. The food was good - fresh eggs, and all the fixings. I would like to come again and try their sandwiches. They were so friendly and welcoming and that makes a difference when you're spending your money. Check it out.

Carol F.

Yelp
I was sick and looking for some matzo ball soup and found it here. It was so good! Then I ordered a sandwich which was also good and I brought home a chocolate shake and cookies. Yes I splurged but everything was so good.

Ken H.

Yelp
Doesn't Follow County Covid Restrictions. I like the food but I am troubled by the indifference of the owner/manager to Montgomery County Covid restrictions. I often see him with his mask pulled down off his nose. I've also seen the cook with his mask pulled off his nose, and some of the waitstaff too. Today the manager was at the register with it pulled down all the way down. When I told him I would feel better if everyOne was wearing their mask correctly, he made light of it, pulling it over his nose for a few seconds and a few minutes later pulling it off his nose again.

Vb B.

Yelp
Way over priced they charged me 5$ for a piece of bacon very disappointed in customer service and price food good rediculous how much they charging for breakfast

Alexis P.

Yelp
The food is okay here. It's good, just nothing to write home about. The place has a very casual feel and seems to be pretty popular. The service was a little slow but my cobb salad was good and the portion size was about what you'd expect for the price. The menu has like 1000 options for breakfast lunch and dinner

T O.

Yelp
The food is actually pretty solid diner food - but I couldn't believe no one has ever taken down the Al-Jolsen-in-blackface framed sheet music. Not so family friendly, that.

Michael A.

Yelp
Very good for take-out food orders for sit-down. Tasty comfort food. Soups, sandwiches and chips. Have tried the Chicken Noodle Soup, Corned Beef and Pastrami sandwiches. Wish the soup contained more chicken and noodles instead of mostly veggies, too much carrots. Everything is pretty tasty, though. Seems like homestyle food.

Alexis A.

Yelp
I used to love this place.... it always had a really good chicken noodle soup and was my go to when I was sick. The sound had a really good broth, lots of chicken and noddles and carrots and celery. I've been getting this soup for years. Fast forward to today when I order the soup and get home and to my surprise it's basically broth and carrots. No noodles, no chicken and one or two pieces of celery. I call to complain and speak with the manager when he tells me that's always been our soup. No sir that has not. Soup called chicken noodle should have chicken in it, along with noodles. Not silt broth with carrots. That is carrot soup. He then tells me what would you like me to do? Excuse me?! What happened to customer service. I will def not be going here and customers beware. They are ripping you off with false advertisement of their food. Pretty sad.

christopher c.

Yelp
That sandwich I created should be on the menu! Lol sausage with roast beef and cheese! It's amazing and well flavored. Please give it a try.

David R.

Yelp
Good is okay. It's a small place. But it's priced well and service is great. Great to try at least once.

Susan O.

Yelp
I've been coming to Woodside Deli my whole life. Although the original one in Silver Spring is gone I'm thankful we still have the one in Germantown. It's a cozy, warm, and inviting restaurant with oversized sandwiches, homemade soups, hand spun milkshakes, and a display case full of beautifully crafted desserts and pastries. The walls are covered with historical pictures and the tables are loaded with condiments. My favorite meals are the Rex Burger Platter, Beef Stew over Noodles, the Alfredo and Violetta Sandwich, and the Open Faced Turkey Platter. The fries with gravy are a must try!

Angela C.

Yelp
I have been coming here religiously for the past few months. The food is good however the service is not good at all. I sat down waited for my server last night for about 20 mins and had to walk out. I couldn't wait any longer, I didn't even get water or greeted. The restaurant was not busy at all. Only 3 tables one server. Please at least come to our table instead of us waiting which is rude and horrible customer service. Please hire more people!!

Leigh D.

Yelp
During my month living in Germantown, this was my last meal. I had brunch here the day I moved out of my friend's place with that friend/roommate on Friday, October 13. He recommended this place based on a huge lunch sandwich he had a couple of weeks earlier. The server answered our questions, but was a little slow in getting refills and our check. I got the 2 egg breakfast platter, which was great. The bagel was outstanding, the eggs were great, but wasn't a big fan of the potatoes.

Shaz A.

Yelp
We were headed to Tortacos but I told my kids I'd like to try something new (and support a local business). I could overlook the fact the energy is stale in this place, not the cleanest in appearance and it's outdated and old. Those are things I can overlook IF the service and food is good. Once we were seated it took 10 minutes to be acknowledged by staff (and it wasn't busy AT ALL) and brought water. I watched 3 families come in after us and watched their food come out well ahead of us. I wanted to mention this then the server finally brought out our food I just let it go since I had 2 hungry kids with me. The food was lackluster and blah. There was a guy with his son that was seated behind us that up and left because he wasn't acknowledged by anyone for several minutes as well! They were also a black family. Not trying to insinuate anything but we definitely did not feel welcomed at this place. Btw for 3 people our bill was $60.. Poor service, unclean, and food wasn't at all appealing..I can't spend my money here local business or not.

paul s.

Yelp
The woodside deli is posing as something special but the food was pretty forgettable. I got a reuben which was dry. I could very easily made a better one myself at home. It had plenty of corned beef, and everything was fresh, but it was dry. The whole point of a reuben is that it should be greasy and rich, especially when it's served in a deli like this, with all the 40's and 50s memorabilia on the walls thats supposed to evoke a long tradition of delis and "greasy spoon" diners. The woodside is all show and no substance. I wouldn't go back any time soon.

Daniel H.

Yelp
Reliably the best New York style deli near Silver Spring. Textbook perfect deli sandwiches, tasty whitefish salad, lox, and chopped liver, good potato pancakes. Great for breakfast or lunch. My go to place for deli in the area.

Scott A.

Yelp
One of our favorite we can't agree on a restaurant places. The sandwiches are incredible. (they also have really cool names)! The chips are ok, not the greatest but ok. The salads are good and consistent. Delivery is a good option, they are prompt and do a good job. They are also on GrubHub which is our new go-to when we don't want to get back in DC traffic. Overall this is a solid deli. The pickles though, are as good as the ones you get in New York Deli's!

Rachel R.

Yelp
The food here is that comfort food you could eat any day. Any time. I love coming here. I used to come here a lot as a kid and order the matzoball soup. And still do form time to time. But I really enjoyed their breakfast as well. Definitely hits the spot when you just want some deli food. They have great reubens too!!!

Lisa W.

Yelp
Wait staff - very attentive Had a pancake breakfast in which the pancakes were very tasty and nice texture Enjoyed looking at the Old Hollywood/ Musician photos. Will return again for deli sandwich.

Barbie B.

Yelp
Went in for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. One other customer present. Service was slow and uncaring. Ordered corned beef, pastrami combo. Corned beef good and pastrami awful. Served with chips (blah) and a mushy pickle. I'm told Rockville location has self serve pickles while this location does not. The pictures on the wall hanging next to you and your food are disgustingly dirty and enough to cause you to lose your appetite.
