I've been a long fan of the Woodside deli in Germantown for quite some time. Sadly, the same quality of their food had greatly fallen. After discovering that the original was in silver spring I couldn't help but see if their food was better and I would pleasantly surprised! The service and food here is far superior to the Germantown Woodside deli. If I'm ever in area and in the mood for lunch, I know where to go!

Google
Really amazing sandwiches and service. Highly recommend these triple deckers (#1) for lunch! Park for free in front or on the side of the street with coins. Can’t wait to be back!

This place is awesome. Very friendly staff. Plenty of places to sit. Decorated with black and white portraits of famous people. Menu here is huge. Their pot roast is delicious, portions are huge, you won't leave hungry. Love that they also have picked vegetable salads and half sour pickles from a barrel to eat while you wait for your dish to come out and it's complimentary. Before you leave don't forget to try one of their cakes, large slices, great for sharing. I highly recommend the German chocolate cake.

Google
The artwork has changed and seems more uniform, which personally I like but is a stark change from the old arrangements in the pictures I've posted. The coffee is spectacular, the service is prompt and is always ready with a refill, there are great vegetarian options, and its just a pleasant place to visit, especially for meals breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Love this place!

Google
I have been coming here for almost 30 years, I think I get some cred. The decor, the servers, the food, it is all just so comforting and just the best. It's a diner. The fries are steak cut so obviously they're the best. Matzo ball soup is the best, with a side of fries and a chocolate shake. The sandwiches are awesome. Breakfast is great. The only time I have been disappointed was when I ordered off the special menu and got chicken and waffles.

This place is really cozy, with delicious eggs Benedict and crab cakes. Our server Jess was phenomenal, and really great at taking care of us. Always feel welcome in here and highly recommend for a tasty meal anytime of day with great, friendly service.

I don't know what I like best the sandwich or the pickle bar. Yes I did say bar. The selection of free pickled items you get with your meal is amazing. Also the atmosphere here is unique and fun with all of the old photos. A real winner for lunch!!

Yelp
Have been here a number of times after church for brunch. Have had their terrific deli sandwiches and very good matzo ball soup. The portions are large and often I will pack some up for same-day dinner. Lately, we've been having breakfast - specifically the vegi omelet ($13.49). What's there to say about a vegi omelet? It's egg with vegi inside - right? For some reason, the omelet here is outstanding. The egg is cooked well and is stuffed with peppers, onion, mushroom and tomatoes. Like - stuffed. And you get a choice of cheese. I got the pepper jack and my partner got the Swiss. The pepper jack is spicy and delicious. The home fries are perfect every time and the choice of bread includes a bagel and cream cheese. I got the onion bagel - the bagel is large and well done with a good sized serving of cream cheese. On top of everything, there's a complimentary pickle bar, with dill, half-sour, sweet and sour pickles, sauerkraut and pickled beets. In the past, the beets were dried out but the last two times we were here, the beets were moist and fresh and delicious. I recommend this place. It's normally crowded, but worth the wait. Only downside is that, depending on where you are seated, it can be crazy loud. The center restaurant area is fine, but if you are seated in the smaller area to the left, be prepared for noise from your neighbors if it's crowded.

Yelp
Parkway Deli and Restaurant crafts the finest deli food in town. We had a large group meet there over the weekend. They were so friendly and the service was awesome. Our group hadn't seen each other in a while and our waitress was so kind. She had to come back several times before we were ready to order. She stayed so pleasant and got all of our orders correct. I ordered the nova lox platter. It was filled with hand cut nova lox, that was delicious. There was cream cheese, capers, tomatoes, onion, olives, and lettuce. I was in heaven. My friends all ordered omelettes. They loved them. Before, I left I ordered corned beef, turkey, and two kinds of cookies. Everything was perfect. I had sandwiches for days and the cookies passed my granddaughters taste test. They were mouthwatering and delicious. Everything was reasonably priced and it was phenomal. Parkway Deli and restaurant sets the standard for what a deli should be. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Yelp
First Time Customers!! Customer Service We were greeted when we got to the counter to order. They were patient with us as we explained that we had never been there. Food They were fast getting our order ready. Our sandwiches were good and the fries had a great crisp. Ambiance was great and free parking

Eric F.

Yelp
The food was fantastic and filling. Cooked to perfection. Lia was very attentive and constantly checked on us. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting.

Yelp
Super average Jewish style deli. I will preface this by saying that as someone who's lived mostly in large Jewish communities that my standards are pretty high. I wasn't a huge fan of my experience here as a result. The space itself is so much larger than I was expecting! The market up front is so much smaller than the restaurant in the back. The service was solid, no complaints on that front. In terms of food, didn't eat anything spectacular. The potato knish was nice, and the latkes were crispy and relatively flavorful. Really didn't enjoy my spankatopia and greek salad. The pastry was super oily without too much flavor, and the greens in my salad weren't very fresh. My friend did enjoy her reuben so I can't speak for that one. Unsure if I'd return here, but since there are very few authentic Jewish delis in the DMV I see the appeal.

Gary N.

Yelp
My first time mistake with my order, for such a 35 mile drive one way on 495 to silver spring md from Manassas Va. A taste for an open turkey sandwich and a Reuben only to get the open turkey sandwich right but the reuben was made with turkey not corn beef. I learn today that they make a turkey Ruben, so I needed to say corn beef Reuben, only have had three since I been making the drive. So when ordering we must spell it out, no ketchup mayo out of a jar not plastic tube.

David H.

Yelp
love parkway - usually get a Reuben (spicy pastrami is my favorite) along with cheesecake. Order at the counter and pay up front or there's a restaurant in the back

Yelp
I remember coming here as a kid but today was my first time back as an adult. We were a group of six on Sunday at brunch time, so we were fortunate to get as quickly as we did. They really cram you in there! I'm a petite person who's ok with crowds but even I was feeling claustrophobic. My aunt and uncle left as soon as we got the bill because of how loud and crowded it was. I felt for the servers who had to regularly squeeze by tables, patrons, and each other. We were bumping elbows with the patrons at the table next to ours. My mom apologized for having to nearly sit on their table to get out (she's a slimmer individual too). Now for the food. Given how many patrons there were, it took some time (about an hour from the time we sat down). I think I got the wrong thing on the menu. My uncle's sandwich looked great. My latkes, lox, and eggs? Not so much. Good idea but poor execution. It was a latke with lox on top, and scrambled eggs on top of that. The problems with that are: 1) the lox got cooked to oblivion because of the heat from the eggs on top of them. Never expose lox to heat! Put the eggs or lox on the side. Something. Second problem 2) the eggs were scrambled. I was never asked how I wanted them cooked. Over easy or sunny side up or literally anything but scrambled would've been better. Honestly, the applesauce on the side was the star of my meal. I could've eaten a whole bowl of it.

Yelp
Where do I even begin? This is a fan / family favorite because year after year, it provides consistently good food at reasonable prices in an atmosphere that feels family oriented for all ages. My husband started with the matzoh ball soup which had huge chunks of chicken -- just wow!!! Then, he had a Greek salad and my mom had the fiesta salad -- both with more chicken. My son had the meatball sub with sweet potato fries -- he only wished they came with maple syrup (and no we didn't ask). I had the chopped liver appetizer followed by the chili bowl -- both made me so happy because they were delicious and perfectly done. Our server was fast and pleasant too. I really appreciate this place!

Yelp
Great little deli on the maryland border with dc. I went for lunch but ended up opting for breakfast. For dine in customers they have an unlimited picklebar thats gratis with the purchase of a meal. I ordered the salmon, onion omelette which came with orange slices hash browns and a full bagel with cream cheese. Everything was great, the omelette featured generous sized portions of salmon. The hash browns were crispy. Service was unbelievably fast. Im looking forward to coming back with my family.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem! I've been here several times and always enjoy time here. This deli is always crowded, so be prepared to wait for seats, especially if you come on the weekend. The place is a bit dark and noisy, and the service is minimal. The menu includes classic breakfast items as well as Jewish dishes. So even if you are a picky eater or vegetarian, I think you would find something to eat. I thought I would wait for a long time for food, but the food arrived pretty quickly and fresh. Also, you can enjoy the complimentary pickle bar, offering various cucumbers, peppers, and sauerkraut. My favorite is beets by the way! The meals are solid and affordable. Pancakes were simple but fluffy and crisp. Matzo ball soup was flavorful and tasty, although it was a bit lukewarm. The breakfast quesadilla was quite a big portion and good to share with other people. I've tried cappuccino and latte, but the espresso here is very weak and bland. Also, plates or mugs are sometimes yet greasy and sticky, which is disappointing. I like coming here to start a weekend with my husband!

Yelp
This is the classic & affordable diner location (on Grubb Road!) that's been here forever. Nothing much has changed which is the charm. Let's be clear - why does anyone go.... Best matzoh ball soup ever! Tasty matzoh balls in real hearty and chunky chicken soup. You want it if you are under the weather or if you are perfectly healthy. I have found no other matzoh ball soup than can beat this one- even in NYC! And the sandwiches.... Yes- get it. You will order too much so you can take it home or just loosen the pants and eat it all! Actually, it may best if you plan ahead and wear elastic waistband pants. Don't forget the pickle bar- a must have for vegetarians and non vegetarians.

Maria L.

Yelp
I'm in shock that I've never reviewed this amazingly wonderful delicious spot!! This is my favorite place to have breakfast or grab some food to go before a road trip or pick up some matzoh ball soup for a sick friend or pick up one of those tasty desserts! The service is always fast and people are friendly! Whether you're inside or outside, you'll be well looked after. I've had a tons of items on the menu-- I'm embarrassed to list them all-- but I've been happy with everything :) breakfast stuff- they got you covered, lunch stuff too. I love the veggie wrap. You gotta check it out, you won't be sorry!

Dave L.

Yelp
I was very impressed with the falafel wrap I had for dinner. The complimentary pickle bar was very good as well. Management and staff are very informative and friendly.

Neela S.

Yelp
Grrreat! Thank you for delivery! I have eaten at Parkway Deli since 1968! Still the old standby and the best deli/restaurant in the area!

Steven G.

Yelp
I visited Parkway Deli on the recommendation of employees at the National Museum of Health and Medicine. The restaurant is in the back, so you pass the deli display cases and wait for a seat. Our party of 4 was seated quickly, even though the restaurant was packed surprisingly with a lunch crowd the day after Thanksgiving. I had a hot pastrami on lightly toasted rye, my brother asked how was the Ruben and the waiter said it was the best around, so he had the hot Ruben, my nephew had chicken tenders and fries and his grandfather had a patty-melt and fries. The consensus was the sandwiches were very good and my nephew devoured his chicken tenders. I tried some of the fries which were very good. I would return to Parkway Restaurant to try other food items or purchase deli fare. It was a great suggestion!

Chanda R.

Yelp
What a hidden Gem! When walking in I thought that this is the wrong place. I saw beer and wine and a deli counter. But I kept on walking and was greeted by the hostess in the back and was seated in the dining area. It was barely 9am and this place was filling up fast. The waiter was helpful and nice and answered questions. The food was delicious and there was bottomless coffee. If I'm ever in Silver Springs again I will come here for breakfast our lunch!

Shumrith V.

Yelp
The Deli & Restaurant is so much larger than it looks form the outside! They have a wide variety of sweets and savory items in the store and large restaurant area in the back. The hosts were super friendly on a busy day and got us seated very quickly. The Matzoh Ball Soup was very savory and make you feel all warm inside! The latkes, lox, and eggs came with apple sauce and were very delicious! The saltiness of the salmon were complemented well by the latkes and eggs. The pickle bar is also free for patrons dining in, so we filled up on tasty pickle, too. Overall, 4.5/5 for tasty and filling food and great service!

Yelp
A good old slice of New York in the Silver Spring, MD. area. Great corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, dinners, breakfast, pickle bar, desserts. Everything is good! Visit the Parkway Deli and Restaurant. You'll enjoy it.

Charles G.

Yelp
Was not equipped to handle holiday crowd. Service was mediocre. Also there computer system for paying bills by credit card went down for 10 minutes-but they did not tell me and my guest. Waitress also failed a) to bring out more ice water on a very hot day(perhaps because she had too many tables-though I am not sure- and did not split bill as request. Not up to their usual better service-not by a long shot.

Victoria K.

Yelp
I'm kicking myself for not trying this place sooner. This place is amazing. I've been here 3 times in the last week. First visit I got the Rio Grande burger and onion rings with a cream soda. For dine in customers they have a complementary pickle bar with various types of pickles including pickled beets. The burger was a very nice size with plenty of melt cheese and HUGE strips of crispy peppered bacon. The onion rings were thick sliced, juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It was a slight upcharge for the rings instead of fries, but was worth it. My second visit I came for breakfast. I got a pancake with eggs, along with a side of hash browns and corned beef hash. I was not disappointed. The pancake was somehow both fluffy and had substance and flavor to it. The hash was clearly made in house and had actual pieces of corned beef in it. But honestly the hash browns were my favorite part. They had a very nice crispy crunch on it. And finally today, I got a Reuben to go. That particular sandwich, listed under their specialties does not come with a side, but honestly it's pretty big on its own. I decided I wanted some fries tho so I got those as well. Not sure if the side order is usually as big as fries by themselves, but the takeout box was full of fries. They were decent but nothing to write home about. I like that they give a side cup of ketchup rather than the little packets. Finally, i got a slice of the chocolate spoon cake. The cake is very rich, and is like half fudge, half cake. So the front half of this place has the bakery, bagels, cookies, and coolers of drinks and a selection of wine. I'll be back for sure

Yelp
Now this place is one of my favs! The staff, the food, the space lends itself to good times.

Sarah R.

Yelp
A staple in Montgomery County. It only took me 10 years to try it... I was greeted with such warmth and decided to sit down for brunch on a Friday morning. They had so many options. The waitstaff were attentive, answered all my questions, and all of the items came out as soon as they were ordered. I was so impressed that I ordered lunch to go. When I told the waitstaff that I needed to catch a bus, they closed up my bill quickly, and I was on my way! This place is always busy. The dining room feels like a traditional diner. There's a small market inside and deli counter which is also bustling. There's also outdoor seating. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla and a strawberry and banana yogurt smoothie. Both were so delicious!! Per the waitstaff recommendation, I ordered the Delight sandwich, matzo ball soup, and cheese blintzes to go. Everything was packaged well and delicious!

Ron I S.

Yelp
I've been going here for over 30 years. Great for breakfast and brunch. Consistent and they get the orders right. Ambiance is dark and chill. If straight ahead jazz were piped in it would match the surroundings.

Erica S.

Yelp
Ate in for breakfast and got a completely new view of this restaurant as compared to popping in to get take out. I realized there is parking in the back which is very convenient because the front fills up quickly. Also there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating in the back! I really enjoyed bagel and omelet--huge portions and a good quality fresh bagel. And my friend enjoyed her smoked salmon on toast with a side of hashbrowns. My favorite discovery was the pickle bar that dining in patrons can visit if eating in for lunch!

Krishna P.

Yelp
Parkway Deli has been the best kept secret of Silver Spring, serving local customers since 1960s and has been run by a family for 3 generations. It is a NY style Deli with some very authentic Jewish dishes. I have been a regular at this place for over 6 years. The staff is really warm. The food feels homely. And patrons are mostly locals. Most of the dishes are priced low for the quantity and quality they provide. Their pickle bar is the best and free when you dine at the restaurant. The pickles are fresh and never loaded with too much salt. Their latkes(potato pancakes), Charbroiled Chicken Wrap, Falafel Platter are my go to items. Chopped liver or Blackened fish when I feel a little more adventurous. Their soups are comfort food. They have both Chicken and Vegetarian Matzoh Ball Soup. There is plenty of parking behind the restaurant but you can use the front if you come during non-rush hours. They are also popular for take outs.

Linda O.

Yelp
Quite an improvement from past experiences. Food and its presentation have been taken up a notch. Service is better; staff tries hard to please and keep in touch about orders. The dining room has had a bit of an update in terms of décor. It's cleaner too. Still very family friendly. My last breakfast plate, called latkes, lox & egg, was spot on. My coffee was refilled. The meal arrived hot and nicely prepared. Parkway has upped its game and it shows.

Maury S.

Yelp
Wife & I relocated from the NY metropolitan area where we were both born & raised. Subsequently moving from Manhattan to. Connecticut. Once discovered, we recognized how similar Parkway was to the many deli's we grew up on. Food is always tasty & fresh. When you enter and see a line; don't leave!! Someone will greet & get you seated. Parkway is not a well kept secret - we've there for lunch & dinner - always busy - addresses both quality and service. Don't hesitate. Make your plan to visit today. As for Ambiance - I think it's oldish in appearance - don't be fooled.

Ryan G.

Yelp
Ordered 2 identical pastrami sandwiches with cheese, onion and mustard totaling $35. There's barely any mustard, bread isn't toasted and each sandwich is made differently. One has the cheese on top of the onion, the other has the onion on top. I've come here several times and the quality just isn't worth it anymore unfortunately, especially for the price. A deli should be sandwich experts, know how to spread mustard and have a consistent sandwich making standard.

Jared I.

Yelp
We love everything about Parkway and have been going there for many years. Probably wise to make a reservation now.

Jim L.

Yelp
Great deli/diner with great corn beef and pastrami. Usually I order the corn beef or pastrami but have had good salads There as well. I am always bringing home the lean corn beef, Cole slaw and great rye bread to make sandwiches at home.

Mark M.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and have enjoyed it everytime. The pickel bar wasn't open the last time I visited. Their corned beef and pastrami are always great. Their menu offers a good variation and has splits so you can mix and match. This place is my favorite sit down deli in MoCo. Service has always been great and the prices are very reasonable. There is lots of parking in the back with a rear entrance door. There is a small shop at the front for take out and convenience items.

Maria F.

Yelp
Three of us went to the deli yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:30 pm. As always the service was great. Our water very accommodating and patient. It was a crowded afternoon and, I suppose it was the lunch crowd which did clear out in time. Everyone always seems happy to be there. We ordered our drinks and the food came quickly. Two of us ordered roast turkey sandwiches. I have had roasted turkey sandwiches many, many times there. The sandwiches we were served did not resemble the roast turkey sandwiches that I have ordered before - many times. Nor was the taste of the meat "roasted". The turkey we got on our sandwiches was smooth and as if cut from a larger piece of deli meat. We brought this to the attention of our waiter who assured us that it was roast turkey. My advice to the restaurant that it take roasted turkey off the menu if it cannot deliver. Two of us were very, very disappointed.

Melody M.

Yelp
Growing up in DC, my parents and I would come here on special occassions. Food was always a good portion and the pickle bar was always my favorite. Having moved away, I haven't been back in a while, so I was pleasantly surprised that they're still open and still serving the same dishes from way back. I'd been craving some matzoh ball soup so had to get their side portion and the cabbage wrap dinner. Cons: The Cuban was a little heavy on the mustard but overall good enough. - no more pickle bar :( - mac and cheese a little off (maybe a little grainy?) Pros: We had the Tres Leches and the Chocolate Loving Cake which were both scrumptious. We were going to take the leftover dessert home but it was so good that we couldn't stop eating it. - Plenty of parking spots (I remember we used to have a hard time finding parking when I was little but plenty now)

Liz L.

Yelp
I've been going to Parkway Deli for more than 40 years and I'm from NY so it fills my soul. However, it's so un-New York to serve the corned beef hash on the side. Put it on the plate, with the eggs on top!! That's the proper way.

Melvin B.

Yelp
Having my car serviced so came in with my brother for breakfast. Decided to go with something new and ordered the grilled rainbow trout with eggs. Selected my eggs over easy and I chose home fries and a bagel with veggie cream cheese. Our waitress was very nice and gave us plenty of time to make our decision. The place was not crowded and the only real noise was from a baby that could not be satisfied but hey we have all been in that boat or most have. Now if you have never been here be prepared. The decor is old/dated. The average age of the customers is over 50 so portions are not large but an okay size. It is an old place. Oh they have good coffee, nothing fancy just plain old good coffee. Here is a picture of my food now time to eat. The fish would have been better if fried but that is not as healthy as grilled. All in all I enjoyed my meal.

Emma Z.

Yelp
This is a real New York style deli, a truly dying breed of restaurant. A friend told me about it for a while, but I didn't visit until recently. Wow, I was missing out! The tongue sandwich on Jewish rye bread alone is a five-star rating in my book. I can't wait to try other dishes on the menu. The online ordering and pickup system was a breeze. This place is a gem.

Jessie D.

Yelp
Classic Jewish deli, which is hard to find in the DMV. Parkway would be average in NY, but is amazing for this area. The mac and cheese is creamy and delicious. The latkes were a bit too greasy but still solid. Be sure to come early as it gets very crowded, especially on weekends.

Jackie T.

Yelp
Amazing food, fast service, and worth every single cent I spent. Made a huge impact on the food scene on my experience on the east coast.

Madeline C.

Yelp
Food is delicious and the menu has a lot of variety. We will be back (especially for the liver and onions)!

Taylor K.

Yelp
Absolutely love this gem of a deli and restaurant close to downtown Silver Spring. We're tried omelettes, sandwiches, quesadillas, and a few options from the Jewish fare and everything has been fantastic. The restaurant is in the back and there is a storefront as well with an ordering counter and a case full of salads and desserts and other goodness. Such a great spot and highly recommend!

chris C.

Yelp
A DC staple. Especially for uptowners. If you're from UPT....you know about this spot. Decent food and service. You won't go wrong here.

Anye S.

Yelp
We've been here three times I think so far, twice for breakfast and once for lunch. Seeing as we almost never go out for breakfast, that should tell you something. I love the blintzes + latkes combo, it's a small meal which as a not-much-of-a-breakfast-eater is appreciated and it combines two of my favorite Jewish foods together. I order it with a side of turkey sausage to get a little more protein. Hubby got the pumpkin pancakes today, he enjoyed them but I'm not really into pumpkin so don't take my opinion into account on those. When we came for lunch I had a great sandwich, it was a combo of corned beef and pastrami I believe on pumpernickel rye and it was delish. It took me two meals to eat it. I've also gotten takeout shrimp salad to make sammies at home and enjoyed it. I should say this isn't a kosher deli, not even close, they serve pork, shrimp and both milk and meat together, but if you're not looking for kosher or even "kosher style", it's a great place to get your deli fix. Over time I will probably sample more of the lunch foods but I'll probably stick to my small breakfast.

Marlene W.

Yelp
Good food and great service. I have been coming for years. Everything is good! That desserts and cookies are good too

Kenneth K.

Yelp
This is an iconic Jewish deli just a mile west of Downtown Silver Spring. I have had their food delivered a few times from Postmates and during the pandemic and my wife and I ate here with my aunt from New Jersey after she arrived in town for our wedding. Even she was very impressed which says something since she has always lived in New Jersey which has more Jewish delis than here. We have ordered a number of items including the regular and Vegetarian Matzo Ball Soup, Kosher Style Sub, French Dip, Hot & Spicy Reuben, Philly Chicken & Cheese Sub, Corned Beef Pastrami, & Chopped Liver, Deli Twins, Reuben Grill, Latkes Lox & Eggs, Nova Eggs & Onions, Rugelach, New York Egg Cream, and various beers from their large selection. We forward to dining here again soon as well as ordering delivery. Please note, this place is very popular and gets even full during weeknights so I can imagine a long wait during weekends. It is indeed of the top delis in the US and Parkway along with both locations of Attman's (which we love even more) are the top ones in Maryland and the entire DMV.

Scott K.

Yelp
Had a super negative experience with this business. Someone in my family was trying to order matzo ball soup for a sick family member, and asked whether it might theoretically be possible to pick up a takeout order outside to minimize the risk of potentially exposing everyone inside the restaurant to the virus. Totally would have understood if the host had just said "sorry, that's not something we can do," but instead he yelled at her and got extremely upset at even the suggestion. He in effect demanded that my family member come inside, where had they done so, they could have gotten everyone sick. Giving two stars instead of one because I've eaten there in the past and did enjoy their food.

P L.

Yelp
Great food and super friendly service. The french choice is delicious. Highly recommended.

T. C.

Yelp
Have been a Parkway fan for decades.....breakfast is typically good...esp the waffles. Last few times, we ordered hot food to go, it was just mediocre. The sweet potatoes were very bland and mushy, the pastrami sandwich had pastrami cut so thick, it was hard to enjoy (very salty). The price of everything has gone up so much, I don't think I'll be spending $80 for breakfast for 4 anytime soon.

Ignacio S.

Yelp
The food has always been good and reasonably priced. The service at the front can be hit or miss depending on who is in charge of the register. And it's not like the bad service is part of the charm, it's just rude cashiers at times.
