"The WAB and the Emory in Ferndale are keeping customers supplied with beer, wine, and food through online ordering. Customers can purchase combo orders like pizza and beer as well as cans of beer, cider, and wine. There’s even creative “starter packs” featuring selections of Greek, French, and California wines for people looking to get better acquainted with their grapes during the “stay at home” order." - Brenna Houck

Google
Great beers and an AWESOME Southwest salad (adding chicken is a MUST)!! They also have good cheese bread sticks. Service in here is also great and the food doesn't take long to prepare. I'd recommend this spot on weekends and throughout the week.

Me and some friends are from outta town and we stoped in after a concert. Food was great and Andy was awesome.

March 2024: The pizza is better than ever. So is the beer. I do wish they had other menu items, but I totally get that it'll take time since the relaunch. The staff is friendly and I like the atmosphere, but I'm hoping more people revisit. I'm excited to revisit in the summer!

Google
Food is good. I'm gluten free so only a couple items are available but the it was good. My husband really enjoyed his pizza and beer. Played some pool and enjoyed picking songs on the juke box.

We saw rupaul show, it was great. Will see the drag show again. Thanks for a great night

Sat at the bar for 20 minutes. Neither bartender so much as acknowledged my existence despite the fact that they were attending to everyone around me. So I left. Legit wondered if I had died and was a ghost.

Good atmosphere to hang out, have a beer and people watch. Food has gotten a little pricey, but the beer is good. Catching a band here is always fun.

Last night we had Charise as our server. She was the bomb!! Great personality, knowledgeable on food. beer & spirits. I ordered half an order of plain chicken wings! Holy cow they were a full wing and huge! They were awesome. They had a little dry rub on them. Sauce on the side. We were on the 2nd floor. Very quaint and had a pool table. I highly recommend this place. It was my 1st time there. I'll be going back!

Yelp
Okay so to be clear, WAB has been closed since the pandemic BUT there is this sweet pop up inside of the main floor. According to the bartender the pop up is going to become a permanent thing. Small cocktail menu with great bartenders who obviously love what they're doing. The setting is dark with lounge chairs/couches. A great place to go for a first date because it's dark and relaxed. They play heavy metal and were burning incense so I felt like I was back in my childhood because that's all my brother used to do as a teen lol. Def recommend this place but again, this is NOT WAB. I got confused with that and don't want to steer people wrong lol

Yelp
I'm giving three stars because they've got a decent beer selection and their food is pretty phenomenal. And they have a pool table! We had the vegetarian pizza tonight and it was quite delicious. Although a bit over crispy. We had their cheese bread the last time we were here and it was absolutely fantastic. Food and beer are highly recommended. My main reason for not giving more stars is simply the service. Both times we've been here, it seems as though we are surprising the staff and putting them out for ordering. There's a level of condescension that comes with the answer to any question. For instance what beers they have on tap. There was a whole incident the first time we went with the pool table. We didn't see that they had cue sticks or if we had to pay to play. Let's just say the response from the bartender was demeaning. Unfortunately he changed his demeanor as soon as he realized we were upset. Perhaps it's better just to be hospitable in the first place. Granted, I understand I'm a bit sensitive to hospitality and guest experience. So I may have higher expectations. However, I don't feel my expectations are that outlandish. I just enjoy a greeting, a smile, respect, and a thank you. This has not been the experience so far here. We will likely continue to come by for the rest of the experience though. Food, drinks, and pool.

Yelp
Cool place - more of a lowkey vibe on the night that I went. I like the game options (Jenga, pool). The service was quick - they only let us order drinks on one tab for my all separate party though.

Yelp
I love WAB's chill laid back atmosphere and corner bar feel, great beer, tasty food, and cool music. Their beers are made in house and they have a great rotating tap list and beer is super cheap too! Only $5 for a pint and $7 for a five beer flight sampler that's served on a cool half record flight board. Great music playing too like The Cure, Joy Division, The Buzzcocks, etc. The Space Shake IPA is one of my faves, not too bitter or hoppy and well-balanced with mango and vanilla. Very refreshing and tasty! The food is really good too! They offer a rotating list of sandwiches with shrimp poboy being a summer fave. They also have pizzas, cheese bread, wraps, appetizers, soup, chili, and more. Lots of vegetarian options like Impossible chili, veggie wrap, and veggies with red pepper hummus. Do yourself a favor and order the French Onion soup!!! It's so cheesy and delicious! Love it!! The pizzas are medium sized, around $12-$14, a good size to split with someone. I love the Buffalo Chicken pizza, sooo spicy and yummy!! The cheese bread you can order as a small for $6 or large for $10. It has a blend of mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan and garlic butter but was too greasy for me. The caprese salad is one of my faves, so refreshing and tasty for summer with super flavorful balsamic glaze, pesto, fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. The churros with ice cream and caramel sauce are also very good. WAB owns the Loving Touch. If you're going to a concert at The Loving Touch you can check in at WAB up to two hours in advance so you can get your wrist band early and avoid lines at the door. The wrist band has a coupon for $5 off your bill at WAB that you can tare off. After the show, your actual wristband also serves for an additional coupon for $5 off food and drinks at The Emory too. Can't beat a deal like that!! I'd recommend getting your beers before the show at WAB as each beer is $5 there but the same beer at The Loving Touch is $9. Service is always really good, fast and friendly. Love WAB. It will definitely be a pre-show Ferndale tradition.

Yelp
It's COVID time. So am I able to fully, completely, and accurately review this place? Not really. But what I can say, is that WAB was one of the few places open in Ferndale during a pandemic and I really appreciate that. My boyfriend and I were driving around trying to find a good takeout spot and we just so happen to drive by here. I ordered the kids sliders with cheese (yes, I'm aware I'm an adult but I still eat like a child), Emory burger, and the bacon and cheese pierogis. The sliders were juicy and the bun was a split hoagie, but dang those fries I could devour! The Emory burger was also so good, those fried onions on top and the egg was perfect. The bacon and cheese pierogis on the other hand, I honestly didn't love. Way too fried and tasted like boiled potatoes. Typical bar food, but still good and they have a decent selection of food. I'll come back for drinks after the pandemic and maybe the pierogis will taste better with some drinks in my system!

Sandy L.

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend. Were the only ones there but thats okay. Ordered a caprese pizza and shared while my boyfriend had a housemade beer which tasted like beer.

Allison F.

Yelp
The WAB has some great specials, which is the main reason I've visited. For example, every Sunday, all their beers are only $2. Their happy hour, which runs Monday through Friday from 3pm-7pm, offers a slice of pizza, a beer and a shot of Jim Beam for only $10. Would I come here without HH prices? Probably not. The service is lackluster, with servers hiding in the back rather than ever coming to check on customers. Also, the beer is good, but not great. Their Raspberry Blonde is an easy-drinker and I really like it, so I stick with that one. My husband has tried them all, and as a homebrewer, can make tastier and more complex brews. Check it out for happy hour, but skip it if you're looking for great service and a huge selection of beers.

Stefania R.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about the WAB. This is one of the only bars I really enjoy going to in Ferndale. Everyone is so down to earth and friendly and makes you feel welcome. They've undergone a menu change over the past few years, and everything is delicious (I suggest the Buffalo Chicken sandwich or the BBQ Chicken pizza). They have a really cool mug club that has great deals and goodies. Go on a Sunday if you're on a budget when beer is $2 off.

Nicole E.

Yelp
Still bummed they took the green chili burritos off the menu. This is a place to go for a beer and a bit of the cool bar scene. It really rocks when it's warmer and on the patio. The food has been less than stellar since they hit their 15 year anniversary, now they are into what their 19th year? I used to come for their 1/2 Monday for the green chili burritos, but now what's the point. Don't order the wine, it's very low grade, get their brewed beer instead. At least they still have their big salad Caesar still. I still come here because's it's my friend's favorite spot, but I struggle to find anything I like on their menu, everything is just so very blah to me.

Angela W.

Yelp
We drove out of our way to get here after church, and it was just ok. Apparently their menu had changed a lot since the last time we had come here, because my husband's favorite, the quesadilla, the ONLY reason we came here from Redford, was not on menu that was handed to us anymore. We don't drink beer, so I can't tell you how the brew is, but my husband and son weren't fans of their root beer. (It could be because they're not used to home brewed type of soda.) My daughter thought her kid's pizza was ok. My husband didn't like his meatball sub. My son couldn't get his mouth around his huge sandwich (not that it's a bad thing at all. ;) but I enjoyed my Balsamic chicken sandwich with tomato soup instead of fries or chips. If we head back out to that part of town again from Ypsi, I'd probably pick somewhere else, like the Emory across the street......that is, unless they bring that quesadilla back.

Jess S.

Yelp
I was very pleasantly surprised. We went here because we were seeing the orchestra at the long tough. Their meno was extensive. All the staff was friendly, and the bartender (with beard and glass) was VERY knowledgeable on the beer menu. When my phone died they let me borrow a charger as well. Very kind people, we didn't eat but recommend for the beer at LEAST (:

Gary R.

Yelp
A pretty good menu that leans towards Mexican food but I like that! Plus, there are tons of vegetarian options so everyone should be able to find something to order. I tried the chicken and avocado quesadillas which, on the surface sounded awesome but were less than memorable. I wouldn't recommend them. However, the tostadas were huge and a big hit as was the california wrap and the pesto chicken grinder. Huge! But what would keep me coming back is the beer. And the Detroit Maiden IPA was really good. And at $3 a pint before 7:00? Perfect!! I'm a fan!!!!

Rob B.

Yelp
Disappointed they took Chicken Wings off the menu. That's what we came there for. How you have bar food but not wing? Just had a drink and left. Sad prob won't be back now.

Shannon S.

Yelp
WAB is classic.... I've been a dozen times over the years. We had good eats, great service, fun times this evening. I don't know, if someone suggests it, I never resist...is it the first that comes to mind....not always, but I wouldn't poo-poo it either... Just go....quit being so "I'm too better than this" :-P

Celeste B.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere! Very friendly and helpful staff. The beer list is pretty expansive and all brewed in house. They do have other libations available if you're not a beer drinker. They have pizza, sandwiches, salads and appetizers. We had the WAB pizza, with arugula, balsamic, prosciutto and peppers on it. It was a good pizza! One will give 6 pieces, so good for 1-3 people. We also had the pretzel bites with beer cheese, they were so good! It comes with mustard as well. I'd say 4 stars because it's kind of expensive for the quality of food. It was great for a big group of people, though!

chad s.

Yelp
Brew: Excellent. New Brewer Chris has done a great job crafting a regular stable of beers with rotating seasonal brews. Food: Good. Pizza, sandwiches, salads and appetizers. The Skinny: Half off food Monday's. $3 pints Sunday. The best mug club around.

Alex V.

Yelp
Cool environment upstairs restaurant with a nice little corner with a pool table. Nice window views available at most tables in restaurant. Me and a group of 5 others came here on a Friday night to play pool and get some food. The nachos were not good to me, as the cheese or topping seemed like some weird really creamy sauce. However that's just my group and I's consensus. My friends got a flat bread and chicken salad. They liked the flatbread and the salads looked great and were good.

Yelp
WAB is usually a decent nearby option; while it's never great, today it was a complete joke. My wife ordered the whitefish salad sandwich - they don't serve it anymore (but it's still on the menu). I tried to order a pizza, the pizza oven is broken (this takes out nearly half the menu). Finally, we ordered a wrap, a salad, pretzel bites and a grilled cheese sandwich. Pretzel bites took more than half an hour, but they were good. 45 minutes after we ordered, our server warned us that he had no idea how much longer it would take and asked if we wanted to just take our food off the bill. Being hungry, we declined, but I took my restless and crabby kids home and we told them to wrap it up to go. My wife gets home 15 minutes later with the food - and they forgot part of the order. So, it took an hour to make the food, the grilled cheese was soggy and half-assed, and the Caesar salad is basically a box of gloppy dressing with some lettuce mixed in. Looks like I still need to go out to eat someplace else to get edible food. My wife went back to try to pick up the rest of our order, they had given it away to somebody else. Service was friendly, but the kitchen in this place is an absolute joke and the coordination between the kitchen and service staff is ridiculous. Oh, they also charged us full price, and gave my wife a $20 gift certificate. Thanks?

Morgan A.

Yelp
Pretty good place. Grabbed lunch with my fiance and his family a couple Sunday's ago. There was only one girl working upstairs and she was clearly stressed. She didn't have any backup so there was no relief for her. With that said, food did come out quickly. My fiance and i split the margarita pizza. It was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had, but good. The beer I tried, a home brew, was also good. Hopefully we can get back here soon to try other items on the menu.

Jeremy N.

Yelp
This place is awesome! I love coming here for a drink, a bite to eat, or both! They specialize in their very own brewed beers that are located right downstairs. I have sampled multiple things here in my journeys out to the WAB. From their fries, their nachos, their pizzas, it's all incredibly good and can be paired up with the many different beers they have on tap. Their staff is very friendly and the upstairs area is great for big groups. Not sure if they still do this deal or not, but on Sunday nights (most likely because they needed to empty their kegs of their own beer), they would do $2.00 pints of craft beer. It was a steal!

Keith B.

Yelp
First time here and really enjoyed the service and the atmosphere. Jared was my server and he was pleasant and knowledgeable about the beers and made great recommendations. I had the Ferndale Steak and cheese which was decent but fell short in my opinion for two reasons. First I'm not a fan of the beer cheese they have and second they melted the provolone to the bread vs melting it over the meat I'd recommend having it melted over the meat and I'd also order it with extra peppers extra onions and mushrooms. It wasn't a bad sandwich but just felt like it was missing too many ingredients although it had all of this on it. Overall it was a good experience I may be being overly critical here seeing how I rated them 4 stars but this was my impression. All the beers I had were the bomb especially the Maiden IPA, the Porter and the Wrecks 12% ABV YUMMY!! Can't wait to go back and try some more

Albert K.

Yelp
This is the the bar that introduced me to Ferndale. It may have lost its luster over the years because of all the shiny new and trendy places that have popped up in the Fern, but it is still a solid bar. I think much of the hate is based more on the fact that it had the audacity of becoming popular. Back in the day you could walk into this place on a Thursday night and grab a seat pretty easily, have a bite, shoot pool and listen to music without much trouble. Eventually, this became impossible, with the explosion of the Ferndale bar scene. It was like those people who got pissed at the Black Eyed Peas or Liz Phair for going mainstream. To those people, I say, "Get over it." They had a solid selection of craft beer, good booze, solid views of the area, interesting seating, an eclectic jukebox and reasonable eats. It is not a place looking for accolades, it is just a bar and judging it on this basis, I don't see how you could knock it down to a three.

Yelp
I'm sure I wrote a review for the WAB. In fact, I distinctly remember writing it in my car right after I ate there... A small recap of my experience... I went here after their menu revamp and was super excited to try their food. The menu looked cool. The food sounded good. It had all of the makings for a fresh new start. Pre-revamp...The WAB in my book has just been "OK". They weren't horrible, but they weren't awesome. I honestly never go here unless a friend wants to, BUT I was willing to try it again because of their revamp and the food descriptions. The following is the nice version of my review since my other disappeared... I ordered two gluten free pizzas and a mushroom appetizer (balsamic, goat cheese, and spinach). The gluten free pizzas , both the WAB bahn mi and the Optimus primavera were really quite horrible. They lacked toppings, i.e., they didn't have enough to actually cover the whole crust... And the crust was no Rene's Gourmet Pizza... When you think of pizza, you think... Warm, fluffy, cheesy deliciousness. Was it that? No. No it was not. It was like a hard, stale, thick, cornmeal cookie. I was really sad we ordered two pizzas and even sadder when I got the bill and saw how much it was. It was not worth it. I had high hopes for them. With gluten free and vegan options popping up in more dining establishments one would think this would be spot on considering their menu boasts these options. Oh, and the appetizer was slimy and soaked with balsamic. The spinach didn't seem fresh at all. I didn't think that those ingredients could be bad... I eat everything and anything and... I walked out of this place with my boxes of leftovers in hand (I debated whether to leave them there but it was so damn expensive) and tossed them in the garbage outside. I know this seems harsh but... Unfortunately it's all true. Now to give them their due... They have an awesome venue. It's really a nice place to dine and look out over woodward. Also, I am aware that maybe their regular gluten menu is delicious... But alas I will never be able to try that. I would love it if they could do their vegan and gluten free options better. Hope they make it...

Tyra N.

Yelp
Timeless classic. Haven't frequented this place as often as I used to as the new hipster joints popped up all over Ferndale and took over the gastropub experience. The WAB is a staple and you must partake in their fare to consider yourself apart of the community. The beer whether it's your choice drink or not will turn your head. Preferring liquor I often don't opt for beer but having attended several Ferndale events and just dining with friends I was destined to try it. Always a delight. The food is bar food, nothing too wild but not just burgers and fries. You'll enjoy your experience, the quality of the service, the open space, the large picture windows looking over Woodward, the orange glow lighting, the deep sexy wood grain and feeling of a nice chill spot. Of course this place can turn up a bit if someone is playing downstairs or just a busy night in Ferndale. I came back recently with a dear friend. Enjoyed good whiskey, talked without yelling sitting at the bar bench overlooking the place and at the end just after the late kitchen closed had some house made bbq chips. It feels good here.

Ben C.

Yelp
Overall good experience. Nice, friendly, quick service from sitting at the bar. We both got a flight so we ended up tasting all 10 beers they had on tap. There wasn't a beer that I really didn't like. We got the pretzel and beer cheese appetizer. Definitely wouldn't order it again. The pretzels were obviously frozen and the beer cheese...I'm not sure what that was supposed to be. The sauce was broken and gritty and not cheesy or beery in any way. We both ordered a sandwich. I got the buffalo chicken. Would highly recommend. Was pulled chicken and very good. My girlfriend got the turkey melt. That was really good too. They both came with homemade seasoned potato chips and a McClure pickle. Yum! Will definitely come back. Just wouldn't order the pretzel again.

Yelp
Great brewery in the heart of Ferndale that focuses on brewing their own arrangement, hosting others on tab and delivering a really good pizza. I've stopped by a few times with friends to sit down at the bar area and have a couple beers in service has always been spectacular weather there extremely busy or very quiet. The other day, I visited them to grab a couple to go packs during the Covid shut down, I was surprised that they were just as warm and welcoming as ever and I had money orders lined up. I love seeing the community support one another

Eileen R.

Yelp
This brewery was really cool! We parked behind in a lot that was shared for the businesses on this strip. Metered but you're can use the app also to make it easier to add to time. We began our brew hop with this brewery because the other two nearest to our hotel weren't open on a Monday (odd). You walk past the rear patio area which was not in use probably due to time of year and slow customer time. The patio had a very cool surfing vibe mixed with industrial car accents. Inside you can sit upstairs or downstairs. Downstairs is more of a dining area with a small bar. Upstairs was AMAZING. License plate feature walls, amazing vintage Woodward memorabilia and a long angled bar. There were pool tables, darts boards and beer pong set up in a section with old wood flooring and huge factory style windows. Stunning natural light floods in. The flight board were on vinyl records and we got two flights to try everything. Sadly none of the beer was worThy a full sized pour for us and we had many more Stops on the horizon... we didn't order shareables or food. Cool hang out spot. Great prices on beer, worth a stop!

Melissa C.

Yelp
Love this place! Florentine pizza is good. Love the blonde ale and the vanilla porter when they have it. Bartenders are friendly and attentive.

Andrea R.

Yelp
I was here with a bunch of Detroit yelpers on Monday night- a great list of beers and half priced food on Monday nights! And so I did the unthinkable...I ordered a glass of chardonnay and didn't order anything to eat. My reasoning: 1) I absolutely hate beer. Tried to like it for years and have decided I'm just a wine/hard alcohol type of gal 2) I just ate enough for 10 people at Slow's before coming here and there was absolutely no room for food...even very affordable half priced food! So I probably didn't get the true experience of WAB, but from what I saw I liked. It was very busy (especially for a Monday night), but we were lucky enough to score a table for 10 or so fabulous yelpers. Everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks and while it didn't appear that anyone was blown away by the food i did hear murmurings that it was well worth the price on that particular evening. And our waiter did a nice job of keeping the drinks flowing throughout the night. My one complaint is that I guess Detroit still allows smoking in bars because I woke up the next morning smelling like an ashtray (lovely), but the entire state is to blame for that one...so no fault of WAB. I can see why this is a popular spot for people in Detroit...hey, I'd be a regular on Monday nights just for the affordable grub!

Esther G.

Yelp
Guess how many times in our 1 1/2-hour stay at the WAB (I checked the time) we were approached by a member of their wait staff. Zero. Not for drinks, not for food, not for anything. ZERO TIMES. NO ONE CAME TO WAIT ON US. EVER. I've been here several times before, and never had non-existent service so was pretty confused more than anything. (We just got our drinks up at the bar.) Everyone else around us was getting waited on, except for our group of five. Were we wearing signs on our backs that said "Stay away" or had the Loser sign painted on our foreheads? That seems to be the only logical explanation. Ridiculous.

Annette J.

Yelp
Family confession: my Grandma likes a good growler from WAB. But who can blame her? When I told her I was going out to WAB for lunch one day she asked me to bring her some beer. What can I say? She likes a cold one now and again. So a beer was delivered and she's a fan! I too, am a huge fan of WAB. One of my favorite spots to grab a bite and a beer and hang out. Love the crowd that trickles in, their commitment to the community (loved hitting Crafternoons there for a drink and some handmade shopping and their sponsorship of DIY Street Fair makes the event), and the super swell staff. The food isn't out of this world but it's great bar food. Tasty, filling sandwiches, great pizzas, and the most garlicky chicken nachos I've ever had. For realzies. These nachos? They're awesome. I don't do spicy so anyone looking for a plate of real zingy nachos may be disappointed but the chicken on there is so delectably garlicky, it was love at first bite. And 50% off their menu on Mondays? Hot damn. Nachos for everyone! The beer selection is great. Big fan of their raspberry blonde. It's even better on a warm summer's night on the patio. The space is awesome. Plenty of room to chill out both at the bar or at a table. Photobooth (was out of order last I was there but hopefully that will be repaired soon), pool table, and a killer jukebox playing some sweet rock and roll both local and beyond. Lovely decoration for the holidays right now too (love the hanging christmas trees!). The crowd is great, not annoying or bro like. And did I mention the staff is swell? They are. Kevin, Staci, and Paula in particular are just gems. WAB is a totally kick ass local bar with tasty, cheap eats, good beer and good tunes. Love it!

Kristoffer M.

Yelp
This place is known for their Raspberry Blonde. Some people can taste the raspberry, some can't. I get a nose of it the first few sips, then it seems to disappear. Still, it's a good beer. The ambiance is pretty nice. License plates here and there, a spattering of metal throughout, it's dark and industrial, but in a fun way. It definitely fits into the neighborhood. The food menu is great. I haven't had anything here I hadn't liked, and few things I hadn't salivated over just thinking about. What should you get? Well, you can get a whopping bowl of phenomenal nachos, big enough to feed 4. They're hands down the best nachos I've ever had. Or get a flavor packed wrap. The veggie burger isn't too bad either! The beer is alright for a brewery, but the food makes the trip worth while.

Brian A.

Yelp
Let me give it to you straight: If it wasn't for the half-off Mondays, I probably wouldn't come here unless invited. The beer is just mediocre; I fully admit to being spoiled by Kuhnhenn's in Warren (true masters of the art), so other local microbreweries just end up tasting "homemade" rather than truly "crafted." That said, I'm a fan of their well-chosen guest taps. The other night I had Delirium Noel, which was phenomenal. The in-house brews? Meh. I've been here four times, and all four times I've received what I would describe as "perfectly mediocre" service. The staff is friendly and non-pretentious, but they are inattentive and easily distracted by friends/regulars. I've had several situations now where I was waiting for quite a while for some sort of attention, and I noticed my server was chatting happily with others. When you DO get attention, they're very nice and perfectly professional. 50/50. The food is really uninspired. I have yet to discover a dish that wowed me. The feeling I get is "I could have made this at home." The menu makes things like the "Tuna Bacon Grinder" sound very exciting, but what you end up with is GFS tuna with too much mayo, served on a bun with a slice of bacon. After four different attempts at finding a "wow" meal, I'm settled on a solid three stars. WAB is the very picture of perfect mediocrity.

Brion R.

Yelp
"I'm not always in Detroit, but when I am, this is the place to go" I was here the day it was born (I mean opened). I've always enjoyed the wonderful craft brews in a variety of flavors and the good, solid food. Since then, the successful owners have expanded to own many other nearby establishments. Summer in Detroit would be incomplete without a Growler from the WAB. Or hanging outside and have a bite and their delicious beverages. the WAB is like an an old car, maybe it doesn't have the latest gizmos, it won't win you any races, but damn it is comfortable to drive. Tips: Rarity of the good jukebox. Raspberry Blond Beer is and Amber beers are top.

I've been here multiple times and I love the food especially the sandwiches. The bartender is very nice to talk with. I've tried all of their beers on draft and personally love the nitro raspberry, the cider and their collar with B. Necktar. If you like sweetness then try those. I really enjoy myself there every time!

Yelp
I've went to the dark side! I can remember the days when WAB's beer was decent and the food was a-okay. After my most recent trips here, I think I'm taking a break for a while.I've been there twice a month since June and I think I need to stop! It seems that they have either had a brewing problem or keeping their lines clean... because the beer is skunky as hell now. Which? ALL. My stand-by, the Ruby, now tastes like it's been sitting out in the sun for weeks. It's far far worse than just going up the street and getting a Killian's... so what's the draw now? I've learned my lesson that WAB is most definitely an alcohol buzzkill. If I want to stop having a good time and stop drinking... this is a good way to do it. Otherwise, I'm going to Danny's!

Yelp
Two story building off Woodward Top level is a bar with taps, lower level is able to open up to air with sidewalk seating. The house beers range from okay to good. The happy hour prices are good. The food is lower end pub but well made. A fun vibe in a simple setting.

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming to the WAB since it opened nearly 20 years ago. While there have been ups and downs with the food and service over the years, I'm writing this because lately the place has been nothing short of spectacular for us. We visit twice a week and there is a NEW BREWER who used to work for Greenbush Brewing in Sawyer and...well, that should say it all if you are a beer geek because the WAB beer now is the best I've ever tasted. Oh, and they can rock the pizzas, too. :-) Love this place. It's like Ferndale's version of Gusoline Alley but with food and better beer.

Yelp
Well, it certainly didn't help that we visited the WAB on possibly the most disgustingly humid day of the year so far. But I did really like the garage door that opened up and let the breeze roll through. We were covered, but it felt like we were sitting outside. I really enjoyed my Hefe Weizen. But then I got reeaaally sleepy afterward. What?! Reading other reviews has brought me to the conclusion that something about this brewery's beer is making people feel hung over after only 1. I did also try my sister in law's Raspberry Blonde, and it was just ok. She loves the Vanilla porter, and were it not 90 degrees outside, I might have opted for that too. Food was not too great. Nothing to scream about. The service was fine, but certainly not friendly. I took it upon myself to grab a high chair and return it when I was done (not sure if that's protocol, but when you work in a restaurant and you've got nothing in your hands and are waiting on no one, and you see someone with a kid in one hand and a big-ass high chair in the other, you should probably help. Just sayin'!)

Yelp
Pretty decent place. Stopped in with a friend to grab some later night food. Menu is pretty limited , pretty much pizza a few sandwiches and some salads. Chili was really good the pizza was decent but nothing I would go back for. Nice ambiance and decor. I don't drink so I didn't try any of the beers. Lots of better food options in the area, so if your really looking for something tasty I'd try somewhere else, but maybe the beer is good.

Yelp
The atmosphere is great, chilled out and quiet, pizza was phenomenal (we got the Hawaiian) and our antipasto salad was delish!!! All the beers we sampled were excellent!!!! The music was perfect, and at the perfect sound level. Definitely recommend this place to others and will be back!

Yelp
I know a lot of people are crazy for the WAB but I just can't get on board. The food is actually really good for bar food and the portions are generous - so 3 stars there. The beer is just not up to par, sorry to say and perhaps that's a bit harsh but it all seems a little one note. I like some serious diversity in flavor backgrounds and a willingness to get a little crazy from time to time. The raspberry blond is one of the better beers but I'd like something more adventurous out of them. So 2 stars there. That being said, I concur with Kristin G., the ambiance is pretty chill, a little hipster but it has a cool Motorcity vibe to it with all the license plates hung. The downstairs open air seating is pretty cool too-a good spot for a first date and it's refreshingly busy on a sunny afternoon. The upstairs has a pool table and a cool vintage photo booth while the seating is along huge windows that overlook Woodward. Very cool! 4 stars here. So I'll stick with the 3 stars for the whole shot since the owners have began a small monopoly in the area and I really like the Emory and the Loving Touch.

Yelp
A Ferndale staple! Woodward Avenue Brewers aka the Wab: This place has been apart of the growing city of Ferndale bar scene since day 1. The pizza is amazing and pairs perfectly with all the delicious beer. The new brewmaster is really kicking ass with some of his new batches. Im excited for more! Friday's & Saturday's are packed with weekend warriors following Sunday for 2$ WAB pints to wind the weekend down. During the week this place is packed with locals for weekly specials & deals! The staff is great. Quick on their feet and very genuine. Not your typical ferndale service weenies here. To add, the vibe is great. Dim candles, classic jukebox, pool table and a beautiful view of downtown Ferndale. The WAB is a MUST visit in the Oakland county map.

Yelp
First off, I've never been disappointed by the beers here. Always something drinkable and I was blown away by the two IPA's on tap. Our server Haley was attentive and the food was awesome.

Yelp
This was the craft beer place before the hipsters were even born, before ferndale was what it is now. Respect your elders. It's grungy as fuck inside - smells like a club and needs a major makeover. The beer, however, is great. Sampled a flight and we loved everything we tried. It's been a long time since I have been here - classier and cleaner options abound. Step up the decor and this will be a regular spot. It's the original 90s brewery feel - that's something to be admired tho.

Yelp
We planned my best friends engagement party and this was one of the five places I looked into. They were able to check off every box - separate tabs, we could decorate, we can reserve a private room from this time to this time, etc. upon being there last night, we were in the Alechemy room where Jared, their fantastic Alechemist would either serve you exactly what is on the menu OR you could let him fly with his creativity and make you something. Amongst my favorites were anything French pressed (a peach beer French pressed with real lavender and orange peel anyone?), a lucky charms marshmallow beer, a trix beer, and Oreo milkshake stout, all just kind of whipped up (although he's clearly made them many times). His cocktail concoctions were awesome too. Great service, we always had a drink in our hand, food came out within ten minutes of all 17 of us placing our orders essentially at once. They did have a booking issue with our room but they made up for it 10 fold. To me, it's not about the mistake, it's how you recover from it, and Will, the guy I worked to plan the event with beforehand, was stellar and made everything really easy. Our bride even spilled a whole drink on herself and Jared went and dug out some free shirts for her (the same shirt, 3 sizes for her to pick from), so she wouldn't have to sit in a wet shirt all night. It's the little things! I couldn't recommend this place more for private events. The Alechemy room is definitely a place to check out, I've never experienced anything like it. Thanks to the WAB for a memorable night - we will be back!

Yelp
I was super excited to go here (as a vegan) because of the menu I read on their website! It included a vegan beer cheese AND vegan chorizo option for their pizza or calzone. However, when we showed up-it turned out the website had not been updated and they no longer served those items. The atmosphere was ok-it was 5pm on a Saturday so a little slow and quiet. The beer-I've had better. And we decided to eat somewhere else. The waitress was really nice though :)

Yelp
Stopped by for the first time a while ago ago after a trip to The Detroit Zoo. We sat in "the lounge", with the two garage style doors open on this particularly warm late summer afternoon and admired the "Detroit style" decor; license plates littered the walls rather than paneling, wall paper or tile. Pretty cool. It was pretty dead, there was only one other table was occupied (it was Tuesday afternoon...) but I'm really glad that we stopped in. I had three beers during this visit (The Hefeweizen, Pale Ale and Ruby Lager) and I thought that all three were well crafted, highly enjoyable and true to style. The Hefe is served in a 20oz glass rather than a pint. Win. The wife and I shared a flat bread pizza, which was good, but not great... I'm giving the food a "3", but to be fair, we only sampled the one item. I'd like to be a little more adventurous next time when it comes to the food, even though the menu seemed to be "standard" brewery fare. The selection is bittersweet. I like and lament the fact that there aren't 45 beers to choose from (unlike a few other local brew pubs). This makes my decision on what to start with, and get next simple, but there's not much to build on. No IPA at the time of my visit, no seasonal in house brews, two similar guest taps (both were imported Oktoberfest styles), and the cream ale and porter are on the menu twice: Cream Ale just and Cream Ale w/ Raspberry, Porter just and Porter w/ Vanilla. Otherwise, our server was attentive (yes, it was slow, but I've been in some places where slow business = slow service...) and the prices were very reasonable. $4 pints ($5 for the XL Hefe). Our bill was around $20.00. Not bad for three craft beers with lunch.

Yelp
A lot has already been said, but I have to add that the microbrews at this place are awesome. If you're looking for something fun to do with friends, you might want to try the try grabbing one of the long booths (plenty of room for all). A personal favorite is the Raspberry Blonde, no it isn't a waitress, it is the tastiest of all the micro brews here : ) Also be sure to get Jugs....jugs jugs jugs...no not what your thinking...whoa first the Dirty Blonde and now jugs, you people reading this have a dirty mind lol. I was referring to the half gallon jug "growler" of tap micro brew that you can buy for only $12 each, and save the jug because refills are always $10. Note you are all dirty people thinking about a cheap $10 dirty blonde with jugs...naughty naughty. As and added note I do highly recommend as a snack the Triple Cheese sandwich (it has pesto, 3 cheeses of course, tomato and onion on a grilled focaccia) served with chips and a pickle spear. I've never had a bad experience at this place and I've been to it atleast 20 times since moving to area. This is exactly what you'd expect in a tasty microbrew spot. Thumbs Up !!!

Yelp
Didn't care for pizza so much. Slow service, unclean restrooms, kinda loud and cramped, probably wont return or recommend to a friend either.... not worth it.
