Google
We enjoyed Woodward Tavern and would probably go again to try other menu items; food was kind of what you would expect. They had reasonable prices and good service. Atmosphere wasn't our favorite because it was completely empty and dark when we went in, so we ate outside.

Google
Great place I really enjoyed it. This spot was near my hotel so I walked up. Glad I did. Cold beer good food and the blonde girl who works the tables is super nice and friendly. It seems that they don’t have much staff as the one girl seems to cover all the tables but she does a great job and you are never without. Props to her. Hope to return soon.

Jessica

Google
What a comfortable, laid back restaurant. Great menu with lots of different pub style items and a good local beer list. Milkshakes and tater tots were delicious! Pizza, burgers are average. The service was fantastic and our waitress was great! I would recommend and will definitely be back to try out more entrées.

Google
Stopped in here today to grab a bite to eat with the wife. 3 elderly people came in front of us and were told by the waiter" I'll get to you when I can." I noticed a table with menus who hadn't gotten drinks yet and there was a big party outside. We sat down and my wife noticed a man said he found something in his burger. We were there for 10 minutes and that couple that was there before us still hadn't been seen so we got up and walked out. Thats just not what you say to customers. Foods probably good..Hopefully better than that waiters tactics on speaking to customers

Jake Couch

Google
The wings were good. The cheesesteak was not very good. It’s not bad, but not good. Service was very good. I probably just got the wrong thing. Would go back.

Google
The food was really good! We loved our smash burgers and nachos! I liked the pimento cheese smash burger… very tasty and the waiter was great!

Tammy

Google
Great tavern food and decent service. The fried Brussel sprouts with chicken was amazing. Burgers were good too!

Cheryl Liberati

Google
Nice bar atmosphere. Food was good and so was the service. Burger and salad were excellent and prepared perfectly.

Yelp
Sometimes you just want a friendly, neighborhood joint with good service and comforting bar food. This is that and more. Lots of tvs and a willingness to put on your team. A convivial crowd of locals. A cute shaded patio. A real chef on premises cooking to order. Also some pretty great specials that offer value. If you want to settle in and watch your favorite game over tasty food and drinks- give this neighborhood spot a try. Wings, salads, onion rings, tots, nachos, and chicken parmigiana sub were all devoured.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Woodward Tavern was a nice little spot in Mt. Pleasant. I went to past time for an appointment. The service was really goo dan it it wasn't hat busy when I went. I was able to read a book and eat. The food was ok, I got the nachos. Presentation wasn't all that great. I don't think its a location I would go back to , but Im glad to say I have experienced it.

Yelp
Just arrived in town from Chicago, looking for a decent meal, and we wandered into Woodward Tavern. Our waitress was very friendly. And as the food came my family dug in, and I just kept hearing, "Wow, this is really good!" The pork tacos were excellent! Check out the pics below. My wife got fries, and I couldn't stop eating 'em. My daughter got the buffalo chicken dip and it was FIRE : ) Stop in and check out this place. You won't be disappointed.

Kevin H.

Yelp
Mushroom and cheese pizza for $17 Overcooked burger with no condiments for $17 Ordered medium with ketchup, mustard, pickle. Overpriced mediocre food. Slow service. Most disappointing restaurant in the area.

Alyssa S.

Yelp
We sat outside since it was such a nice day. The patio is a sort of alley-style set up. It did take us a minute to let someone know we were going to sit outside because they had only one server working. On a Saturday afternoon. We felt so bad that this guy was busting his butt to serve the tables inside and outside on his own. He was very friendly and helpful. Despite being the sole waitstaff, he did a great job. The food was great. The fries were absolute perfection- crispy and good flavor. The Buffalo chicken club was one of the better Buffalo chicken sandwiches around town. The Turkey club was pretty standard but still tasty! Tater tots were crispy and also delicious.

Mike M.

Yelp
Ordered delivery and it took almost an hour for for the food to be "ready" for the delivery person then when the food finally showed up, everything was cold, soggy and gross. Never again.

Erica S.

Yelp
Found this nice little bar after trying to find a place to eat without an hour wait. The bar was full of local guys having drinks and bar munchies and enjoying sports on the big screen. The place lacks any real decor at all-it's a "what you see is what you get" atmospheres and which is perfectly fine because they don't overcharge for their food or drink. The server was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. One of our of meals did not come out as what we ordered but they were quick to correct it. The Buffalo chicken dip was very good and my patty melt was tasty but the bread and onion rings were not as crispy as I asked. A good place to grab a quick bite.

Wendy F.

Yelp
We immediately loved the bright, clean decor and inviting atmosphere. First visit, I had the Woodward buffalo wings which I did not care for as I like a more well done crunchier wing; however, my Southwestern Chopped Salad was terrific ... large, chuck full of bacon (upcharge), avocado, black beans, corn salsa, cotija cheese and tortilla strips (everything I love). Served with an in-house prepared lemon cilantro vinaigrette, I was very happy and very full. Joe thought his custom burger was OK. I thought it was frankly underwhelming ... so much so that I can't recall how he built it ... but those tots - OMG ... crispy and oh, so many. That being said, I went a different route on our second visit and devoured an entire order of the Barbecue Ranch dry rubs and they were perfect. Joe chose the fried chicken BLT without the middle slice of bread, accompanied with side Caesar. He loved the sammy and the salad did not disappoint. Of course, he had to have those tots. The a la carte order was so big, he had to twist my arm to help him finish ... lol. We were both disappointed that the ice cream machine was out of order because that Peanut Butter Cup Shake was calling both our names. Oh well. The standout on both visits was our fabulous server, Bryna who was not only efficient and attentive but friendly and helpful, too. We'll be back again, real soon. Try it, you'll love it, too!

Yelp
Woodward Tavern on Riviera Drive in Mount Pleasant is a great place to go for delicious food and desserts. I really like everything that they have available here and have been impressed every time I have been here.

Kelly C.

Yelp
A friend and I were doing a Charleston drinking tour a couple of weeks ago and somewhat drunkenly decided to finish our night with ice cream. After asking around, a friend suggested that we try Woodward Tavern for their milkshakes. Our Uber found it without a problem and we sat at the bar for our non-alcoholic imbibing. I ordered the peanut butter cup and did not expect the monstrosity that was placed in front of me. It had full sized PB cubs somehow glued to either side, reese's pieces scattered all over the side of the glass, and utter deliciousness awaiting inside. I am pretty sure I finished it in record time (although my friend had both a milkshake AND an ice cream cone before I was even halfway done) and woke up the next day with no hangover. So, not only is it delicious and worth every penny, but it's a hangover cure.

Mike T.

Yelp
Can't do zero stars. Don't come here. ***** So, first off, let's talk about Bryna. This is our third time and the third time this mean, spiteful, and "chip on her shoulder" woman has been at the bar. Thank your lucky stars you've gotten our business after the first time.... the Crafty Draft has been closed, so we've tried our luck three times. Won't happen again. It's not what she says it's how she says it. I don't know if I'm right, but think she'd be better off up north.

Donna N.

Yelp
Not worth the money. After spending $26 on a burger and a pretzel with cheese sauce I would have had a better meal at 5 Guys. Burger was dry and well done( asked for medium rare) . Cheese sauce was goopy and tasteless. Save your money.

Joan M.

Yelp
This bar is a beautiful addition to Seaside. It's bright airy and has a beachy vibe with many TV's and a spacious area to accommodate tables without being on top of your neighbors. The food was great with massive portions. Had I known that I would have shared with my buddy. I have one complaint though. The service was horrible. We sat for a long time without anybody coming near us. Finally placed our order and waited and waited. Finally dinner came. It was good however again we waited and waited for someone to check on us or get more drinks. It didn't happen. What a pity. I understand they were busy and the servers looked like they were stretched to the limit. They need to re evaluate the staffing situation here or they will basically lose customers. Maybe it was a one off.

Astrom G.

Yelp
keeps forgetting half of our order, several times, idk how hard it is to complete an order but I guess they're not able to.

Brooke H.

Yelp
Best milkshakes and starters!! When busy the service is a little slower but everyone was very kind and the food was delicious. Milkshakes do taste and look different when you get them to go though, so definitely have them at the restaurant instead

Angela R.

Yelp
Neat little place with really yummy food. Convenient location and nice atmosphere. Outdoor seating available and was shaded for our pup.

Daina H.

Yelp
Expensive for what you get. Atmosphere is lacking and food is less than the price demands. Could easily go elsewhere for a much better dining experience. Many more options i. Town that leave this Woodward tavern in the dust. The outdoor live music would be great if they didn't allow their indoor radio to compete with it. Pick one. Radio or live music. You can't have both and expect guests to return.

Tim S.

Yelp
We came here to watch the Penn State game. The Charleston, SC PSU Alumni Association recommended it. There is a Penn State flag hanging out front and we walked in and found about 3/4 of the bar were Penn State fans. The food very good bar food. We had Thai peanut wings. They were good, but not great. We had the pretzels. They were ok. Tasted like frozen. We both had a salad. Mine had fried chicken tenders with sweet potato flour. They were crispy and tasted like donuts. I have to try sweet potato flour at home! Apps. 3 star. Salads 4 star. Service 5 star.

Erica K.

Yelp
1st time visitors to Charleston and after picking up some items at Target my husband decided to take a walk to see what's in the area. While walking we came upon this quaint restaurant/bar and decided to have a drink. Well unfortunately we were not greeted upon entrance, but took a seat at the bar and NO one acknowledged us at all but walked past us several times. Maybe WE needed to make ourselves known, I don't know. But another patron walked in, a regular I assume by the way he greeted the bartender, and right away asked what he'd like to drink. Needless to say my husband and I walked out....do better.

Quinnie M.

Yelp
I would not recommend this place. Doesn't look like there's more than 3 people working for a restaurant that have a decent amount of customers on a night that has a food special. Our waitress looked like she did her best, even though we were barely checked on. I wasn't expecting: -to take 10-15 mins for us to wait and take our drink orders. -get a drink order wrong -take 20 minutes for a salad and wings* -*including a wrong flavor that we didn't order Overall, we were disappointed with our food and service. We were happier to leave than the experience we got.

Matt A.

Yelp
Great, family friendly neighborhood pub. Good draft beer selection and plenty of TV's for sports. The homemade milkshakes were a huge hit with kids! We stopped for lunch but plan to go again for dinner soon.

Karl K.

Yelp
I'm going to give it 3 stars, which is a shame because it deserved more with a simple fix! Wonderful young lady handling all aspects of the front of the house, solo, with great skill. It was lunch and she was host, bartender, waiter and bus person all into one efficient job! From experience I can say that isn't easy even during a quiet lunch crowd. Great tattoos, would have enjoyed perusing any others! Food was great and reasonably priced for the quality it is. The thing that was offensive and easily remedied was the smell! From experience I recognized the problem instantly. Dirty mop head/bucket needs changing/scrubbing more frequent. The cleaning of the floors made things worse. When I had my place we had foh and boh mops with frequent scrubbing of bucket! Easy fix....

Rachel D.

Yelp
If you are craving good beer and the BEST milkshake in the city (or the world) come to Woodward Tavern!! Don't let the word Tavern make you think they don't do dessert right - bc oh boy, they do. We ordered the s'mores milkshake and it was PHENOMENAL!! It's everything you'd want in a milkshake. From the soft, buttery chocolate on the outside of the glass, to the perfectly toasted marshmallows and the beautiful hint of graham cracker as you slurp the milkshake through a perfect milkshake straw, you will not be disappointed with every.last.taste. Check out my picture for the full amazingness of the presentation. We will definitely be back to try the other shakes!! Go Woodward!

Beth G.

Yelp
I am rarely one to complain, and honestly this is my first review where I just cannot find one positive about our experience. I guess I can say our 2 beers were cold, and that's about it. Our meal began with nachos, which we asked for sour cream on the side. When the waitress brought them over, she realized her mistake and told us she forgot about leaving off the sour cream and put them on the table anyways. No offer to take the item back and fix it, but it wasn't a huge deal so we scraped it off and carried on. On the Facebook page, the burgers are shown as mouth-watering, juicy towers of meat. My husband ordered the BBQ burger, and I got the beer cheese one. The patties were obviously frozen, with very little flavor, and pretty unappetizing. My husbands burger online showed a patty topped with 6 onion rings, each covered with golden, melting cheese and BBQ drizzle on each layer, topped with a juicy tomato and some lettuce. What he received was a patty, a slice of processed cheese, and 4 onion rings with some sauce on top. To the tune of $15. Mine was equally disappointing. The soft taco and quesadilla for our kids were average, not much you can do to ruin a quesadilla. The biggest disappointment came at dessert. It was our 9 year olds birthday and he got to pick the restaurant. When we saw the pictures of the outrageous, over the top milkshake concoctions on the menu, he was sold. So, when his cookies and cream milkshake came out in a plastic cup looking nothing like the one he was so excited to devour, he was crushed and burst into tears. Then, to charge $10 each for the bait and switch milkshake, it was just unbelievable. Final blow, all of this cost our family just over $130 once we added in a tip. As a hard working family in the public service field, this is a lot of money for not only a disappointing meal, but one that ruined the birthday celebration of one very special 9 year old. Hands down, the worst food and worst experience we've ever had. Don't waste your time, or hard earned money, at this spot. *UPDATE* I am happy to report the owner of the restaurant contacted us and seemed genuinely upset at how our meal went. Owner was kind and reported immediate changes were in the works to bring food back to their original standards.

Holly K.

Yelp
The pizza cost $2 more than what was printed on menu and the steak & feta salad cost $1 more than the menu price. The pizza was slightly better than a little Caesar's pizza and the steak in the salad was like a steak um.

Jack L.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick drink. Only one other person at the bar and one two top at 6pm on a Monday. I have popped in a couple other times and it has always been slow. Happy hour is $1 off draft and house liquors. Draft beer selection is pretty lame. Sierra Nevada IPA and Stone IPA are as craft as it gets (Neither are really craft anyway). Not stoked.

Krystal B.

Yelp
Service was ok..... bartender was amazing and although about 5 other people appeared working she seemed to be only one doing service. Fries were over fried and not great. I ordered a chicken wrap (not on menu and they tried) but very dry and not very warm. I do believe they are trying really hard to come through this covid experience and we will go back to listen to music and have drinks but until food improves won't be going back for food anytime soon. Hoping it improves soon as it's a great location and we do love the area.

Fred F.

Yelp
Well another horrible bar in MP. What is the deal With these places? Horrible service , awful food , the bar tenders have zero personality. Its like your bothering them when you sit down . when you say your not eating they have a look like you just kicked a puppy. So went in last Sunday , football day. The place is so annoyingly quiet , kinda like a church . I mean can you turn the TVs on? Who's brilliant idea is it to have them off? Awful call. It's Sunday. People want to hear the games , one game ! who cares just crank it up and have some life in there. Finally the milk shakes, I'm not sure what famous chef came up with that idea or price point, but it's awful! 12bucks for a glass of Frozen milk with chipped ice mixed in the worst possible way. Buy a blender call it a day.

Katie P.

Yelp
Broke my rule of not going somewhere in their opening weeks -- things we took away from our initial visit: It's SO MUCH cleaner than the pub that formerly operated in this space. Plus points for that. The draft system was down. Their website says they are a beer bar. :-/ They didn't have a printed beer menu for bottles/cans. The menu was in the bartenders brain/memory or you can lean over the bar and peek at the coolers below. The tater tots that come with "dipping sauces" came with a ramekin of ketchup. A can of Westbrook One Claw was $8. PER BEER. Bourbon was cheaper. This is absurd. On a subsequent visit, we waited at the bar but never managed to get a drink. Neither did the guys next to us. We all ended up leaving. Sigh. I really, really want a great late night spot in MtP. So I'm hoping things change.

Stephan C.

Yelp
A great, first visit to Woodward's. Sitting at the bar, we met a great bartender, Mike who make an excellent Old Fashion. Easy to talk to. A fun guy. Menu is being updated currently. The chef is fantastic and known around the area. We're coming back!!

Karin F.

Yelp
Debated over a four star on this one; but the service was a bit slow and the place wasn't crowded. The cocktails good. The Fried Brussel Sprouts outstanding. The Power Salad delish. Downside...A bit light on the goat cheese. The loaded nachos with pulled pork - very light on the pulled pork served and the up charge warranted MORE meat. The hamburgers were nice...no complaints there, like a good hamburger anywhere, but still a good choice. Didn't try the shakes, regrettably just didn't have time. We were on a schedule and had to get moving... but the ice cream shakes.....They looked incredible. Maybe next time.

Stan O.

Yelp
The Woodward Tavern is from the makers of Crave.... It's a pretty unpretentious place, nothing fancy.... a basic pub with both family table seating and bar seating. We went as a party of four and all were pleased. Our table had the Shrimp Po Boy (looked awesome, chuck full of shrimp), fish tacos, and two of the Cali burgers, one of which was mine. My burger was excellent, one of the best I've had in a while. It's a fairly large burger with Avocado, cotija cheese, black bean corn salsa, and sriracha aioli... yum!!! You have your choice of fries, tater tots, or a house salad on the side. I chose the fries... there was a good amount of very thin shoe string fries cooked just right. I was told the tacos were delicious and the shrimp po boy not only looked good but tasted just as good...

Matt K.

Yelp
Just got sucker-punched by some red kneck there. The owner is begging me not to sue. Fuck that. The owner is a great guy BTW .. that guy has someone who just took down his license plate and will find him shortly..... don't fuck with irishman dumb hick

Shannon E.

Yelp
We had a great experience at Woodward Tavern! Extremely friendly, attentive service. I had the Power Salad with grilled shrimp and it was fantastic. My husband had the Asian Burger with the fried Brussels sprouts--soooooo yummy and a HUGE portion! And of course we had to share a milkshake after seeing them all over social media. We had the s'mores milkshake and it was a really difficult decision because there are so many that sound fabulous. The restaurant and restrooms were extremely clean, which means a lot to me. We'll be back for sure!

Gene R.

Yelp
Ate there Sun. Eve. Ordered martini, salad and sandwich. Really slow service, only 4 customers in restaurant, served by a waiter with nasty nose ring and dirty looking shorts. We will not return poor food quality , slow service drinks my wife's margarita tasted like no tequila and my martini was extremely short bartender told me that the glass was small

Kristen C.

Yelp
Should have listened to recent reviews. Just don't go - very overpriced for crappy bar food received. As other reviewers commented -doesn't look like pictures and the quality and amount of food received not worth price paid. Sweet chicken salad was BURNED and mostly lettuce -one tiny piece of avocado and most of salad was legit burned chicken and lettuce.

Fatima N.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem!!! I love their milkshakes and the service is incredible ! Staff is always friendly and attentive. Will be coming back for sure

Mariah F.

Yelp
If I could give this place a 10/10 I would. It was conveniently located right near our hotel. We were greeted and seated promptly outside on the patio. They had darts, come home and tic tac toe for use while you wait. The bbq wings were flavorful and delicious. The Baja fish tacos were excellent along with the Paddy melt and Tavern burger with tots. My 6 year old niece got the kids fish, the serving was HUGE and she dubbed it "the best fish ever". We really wanted to try the dessert but we were soooo full and satisfied from our meal. Definitely a must try !

Cayla R.

Yelp
We had the BEST time at Woodward Tavern!!! Our server, Ashley, was phenomenal and offered helpful suggestions when needed. We started our meal off with the Woodward 75 cocktail - It was amazing and refreshing after spending a day in the Charleston heat. After the beverages, we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip - it was soooooo good (the best we've ever had!) We each had a different item on the menu. My mom had the veggie burger - it's a house made patty (which is hard to find in CHS) and it was perfecto! I had the chicken bruschetta sandwich and it was Uber delicious - the bread was perfectly toasted and the flavors were refreshing and delicious! My boyfriend had the beer cheese burger. The beer cheese was addictive. We ended the meal with a drunken s'mores shake and holy moly what a way to end it!! Overall an awesome experience and as locals we will definitely be back!

Emily H.

Yelp
Decided to leave downtown and venture to Mt. Pleasant to check this place out for a girls' dinner. I always enjoy a local beer and decided to stick with the app menu for a smaller portion. The buffalo chicken dip was pretty good, but I did have to ask for some more chips due to the disproportionate size, but that is all relative! Our server who, was also the bartender, was very attentive and helpful! It's a fairly small place and doesn't have a whole lot of character, but overall not bad! I would recommend to others for something off the beaten path where you can avoid bigger crowds!

Amy J.

Yelp
We took the family to Woodward Tavern for dinner and had a fantastic experience! It's bright and clean with cool steampunk decor and plenty of TV's for 'watching the game'. We started with apps and fell in love with the shrimp ceviche and artichoke spinach dip--will definitely come back for those two alone! The kids devoured the pretzel knots, burgers, and quesadillas. We really loved our burgers and shoe string fries (YUMMMM) and the chicken and waffles were also great! To wash it all down, they have a great beer list and like a million milk shake options (we tried 3 shakes and were all delicious!!!). Very kid-friendly and great service. Will come back again for a family dinner or for a date night since they are open late too!

Laura C.

Yelp
We were so excited to finally get a chance to eat here! It was just as good as we expected. It was such a friendly place and great for kids (a very nice kid menu). We all had a hard time making a final decision about what to eat with such as great menu. My husband loved his turkey club and said the turkey was outstanding. I thought my burger was perfect (cooked well, not too small/not too big, not greasy and put together in a way you could actually eat). Plus, I don't think I've ever seen my 4 year old eat so much of her dinner before (she loved the fries). Finally, the snickerdoodle milkshake was actually as good as it looked on the restaurant website. We can't wait to go back for a date night so we can try the great looking drinks.

Greg P.

Yelp
Food is better than your average bar. Nice collection of crafts. Service is less than desirable. Two bartenders,, ten patrons,, yet I sat for nearly thirty minutes waiting on someone to take my order. Assistant bartender apologized and said there would be a discount. There wasn't.

Caroline S.

Yelp
This is my favorite bar in Mount Pleasant. The service is amazing, everyone is so attentive and kind. It's a great family atmosphere. We love going on Wednesday nights for Bingo and Thursday's for trivia. The food is always great and the milkshakes are DELICIOUS. I love the fish tacos! If you're in the mount pleasant area, give this place a try!!

C D.

Yelp
Avoid this place. Food is ok, location is nice, but service is sloooooow. Placed an order for pickup scheduled for 7:28 pm on a Sunday night. Very few people in the place and no food being served. Waited an hour for 6 hamburgers. After 40 minutes, the chef came out and offered me a drink. When I told him that offer might have been a nice gesture 30 minutes ago, his reply was, "We didn't want to get ya drunk!" Then I got all the stuff about "This isn't normal." I will never experience normal at Woodward Tavern. Too many other burger joints.

Tanner L.

Yelp
I recently found this place one night and I've been back a few times. It's a relaxed atmosphere that has upscale hints all while having good value for what they serve. Its a small environment but it does the job when you don't want to go to a more lively place in town or downtown. The menu isn't too large but it seems appropriate. Personally I've tried some of the nachos and the burgers here and they were all on point. The service is great when you're sitting at the bar but I have noticed if you're sitting at a table it can be a bit slower. Either way, I think its a hit and I'll be back.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
I like this place! It's bright and has good energy. Lots of TVs for sports. Service has been terrific both times we have gone. We went with a large group the first time and all the food was great, fries and pretzel we very delicious, as were the wings. Pricing is slightly less than the over bars and restaurants in this shopping area. We will definitely be back.

David B.

Yelp
We come here often and have enjoyed the place. They have a nice large bar area. All the food is good and best described as upscale bar fare. The bartenders are great as well. The deserts are killer. Just wish my diet would allow just one. Fun place to drop into watch a game or golf in the bar.

Rob M.

Yelp
Great dinners and of course you can't beat their milkshakes and sundaes. Great for kids.
