"Biking and Drinking Most people end a long bike ride with a bottle of Gatorade. I prefer to reward myself with a cocktail. If you're in Aspen , you can bike 20-miles along the Rio Grande Trail to Woody Creek Distillers in Basalt. The 10,000 square-foot distillery and tasting room opened in March 2013 and welcomes cyclists (who can opt to take the bus back to Aspen if they tipple too much). Woody Creek's focus in on vodka and they grow their own potatoes at Scanlan Family Farm in Woody Creek, Colorado . The distillery also sources local fruits, grains, and mountain spring water to produce other spirits such as apple brandy and bourbon. Call ahead to book an appointment to tour the distillery or just do a tasting at the bar. The bartenders have also created a great list of cocktails. The Little Nell is also offering fly fishing trips that end at the distillery and Blazing Adventures is offering white water rafting trips that finish with a spirits tasting at Woody Creek."

Amazing space! Tasty cocktails, and great spirits. Jo makes a mean drink and Maddie was so kind! Our Dog Carl was welcomed in, and loved on by everybody! This is a great spot for a place to warm up after walking around Aspen. Def make the stop!

Google
We love this place. So does Luna, who loves the dog-friendly atmosphere. Pluses are... 1) Great spirits distilled and aged onsite. Bloody Butcher Bourbon is one of my favorites. 2) Trivia Night. Leave your sense of restraint at home. 3) Taco truck out front. They will bring your order into the distillery. Great food and the best culinary value in the valley. 4). See #1

Such a great vibe! The people that work here are just awesome and you feel like you know them after being here one time! The drinks are amazing too. Especially the too hot to handle Margarita!

So my buddy and I came to snowmass for skiing. We always visit the local breweries and stumbled on this distillery. The bartender(Nash) at the brewery we visited, Capital Creek Brewery, raved about this place! We visited and wow! My number one visit on this trip! Excellent spirits, cocktails etc.. highly recommended! Bourbon is excellent along with the other spirits they offer! The bartenders, Rachel and Amy, were fantastic! Great personalities! Place was very chill! Very relishing and the flights of liquor are awesome!

Google
The staff, service, and spirits are all amazing. The staff knowledge of their spirits is excellent, not to mention the space and distillery tours. You can fly fish the roaring fork river a 5 minute walk from the distillery. Definitely worth making the trip our to visit and sip a drink or three

Google
Must-stop CO distillery destination if you’re anywhere near Glenwood Springs or Aspen. Beautiful tasting room with tons of great and unique craft spirit offerings and cocktails. Especially awesome if you like whiskies - definitely ask about the limited release single barrels! Shout out to Meghan and David for A+ hospitality.

Google
Dani was awesome. Very knowledgable and personable. Not only do they distill whiskies and bourbon, but they also make gin and brandy (and more!!!). Their Colorado Bourbon was delicious. So was their 100% Rye and their 70/30 Rye. Surprisingly awesome distillery tucked away in Basalt. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We have been to Woody Creek Distillers twice now, and both visits have been wonderful experiences. Last time (several years ago), we were enchanted by their purple gin made with butterfly pea blossoms. They still have it and our server told us it is now permanently on the menu and available for purchase. We each had 3 tastes: mine were Mary's Gin (butterfly pea blossom with hints of rhubarb, elderflower and yuzu), Woody Creek High Rye (70% rye; 30% corn), and Apple Brandy. All superb. We couldn't leave it there, so we ordered cocktails--a Peanut Butter Old Fashioned for me and something called a Baconator for my husband. That is the one with the lime slice on top in the photos. Woody Creek is known for it's potato Vodka--so smooth and negating any ideas one might have about all vodka being "neutral." I could drink all three of the spirits I tasted neat. The cocktails were definitely an added luxury. We went home with several bottles, including the Vodka, Mary's Select Gin, Rye (100%), and Bourbon. Our server was very friendly. She introduced us to the distillery dog and told us stories about visitors--including William H. Macy who sometimes come to play ukelele. Sadly, Hunter S. Thompson's spirit has not made an appearance among the spirits. He hangs out at the Woody Creek Tavern, his old hangout.

Yelp
Distillery had great drinks, I had the Mrs.Doubtfire with bourbon and it didn't disappoint. I'd like to add that the elderflower gin was amazing and I ended up buying a bottle. Great service! The ambiance was well lighted with a chill vibe and they even had tarot card readings! P.S, the Taco truck outside is ALWAYS fresh and delicious (try the tongue tacos).

Yelp
What a disappointment. We've been visiting this distillery for the last 5 or6 years and always had excellent service, but not today. We arrived soon after they opened and were greeted and served with excellent drinks but nothing more. We finished our drinks and waited about 20 minutes for another round, but no way. The bartender kept visiting with the friend and never came to our service. BTW WE LOVE THEIR PRODUCTS.

Russell T.

Yelp
Had a great time trying samples and talking to the staff. They were very knowledgeable about their products.

Donna B.

Yelp
Didn't eat but they have a food truck outside in which the food looked great. Drinks were stellar and service was great. Friendly and super accommodating. Ambiance was super and they have outside seating as well! Really nice place!

Yelp
Of all the distilleries I've been to (approx 70) I have yet to find one that tops Woody Creek. The impromptu tours they are happy to give, the craft cocktails made to order, and their the AMAZING spirits. I'd be remiss not to give their staff well deserved accolades. They are knowledgeable, welcoming, and never pretentious. There is no shortage of passion in their pours and love of their product. A special praise "shout out" to Christian. He remembered us from a year ago! His generosity to listen to our stories and share his, was equally as good as their product. If you want to go in for a flight, a tour, some swag, fantastic conversation, or just to relax, you can have all of that here. To say their selection is diverse and always satisfying, is an understatement. Side bar: some of their spirits are only sold here. I highly recommend buying a bottle that is straight from the source. The whiskey is smooth and if you enjoy a good rye, their rye isn't good, it's so great it should be banned. I'd drive here from Denver every weekend if I could. If this review sounds a bit over the top, it's because it's should be.

Yelp
We had a marvelous time at Wood Creek Distillers. We tasted several whiskies and enjoyed some conversation with the bartender and locals who were at the distillery. It was a very friendly atmosphere with a friendly labradoodle inviting site. We purchased a cask strength rye and a cake strength bourbon after tasting. No menu bit snacks we're provided and plenty of merchandise should you want.

Yelp
The service is great and the spirits are good. Being in a small mountain town, the Distillery does a great job at welcoming new people and providing great service. I always order a whiskey flight at distilleries so I can judge the spirits in their own. The distillery has some spirits you can try and purchase that are not distributed outside the tasting room. They have a mixed drink menu for people that prefer.

Yelp
This is a great local spot. We went in for a craft cocktail & put together a great gift arrangement for our friends upcoming wedding. They even shipped it out for us. Service & selection was really top notch. We will definitely be regulars!

Yelp
Loved our visit to Woody Creek! We came with a group of friends who live in Aspen. We enjoyed the bourbon and gin so much that we purchased bottles to take home. Our bartender was super friendly and made some excellent cocktails. I had the "Devil May Care Sour" which had fresh strawberries as well. I customized it a bit... I added the habanero rye instead and it was phenomenal like one of the best cocktails I've ever had. My husband and friends all agreed. I actually think it's on the menu now! So I highly recommend ordering it. Really cool spot to visit if you're in the area! Definitely try the bourbon and gin. These guys know how to make a drink.

Yelp
If you happen to like sleek yet comfy decor paired with scrumptious local gin, vodka, or whiskey then this place is for you! The bartenders are all super friendly and passionate about making great cocktails. If cocktails aren't your thing, you can order tasters of the different liquors. Everything is distilled on site and you can taste the craftsmanship. Enjoy!

Yelp
Tried Woody Creek Distilleries potato vodka at the Comedy on the Rocks show at Wings over the Rockies Air & Space Museum on Saturday and it was smooth and delicious!! I am hooked!! Definitely want to go to their Tasting Room in Basalt, CO to try more.

Yelp
Review of their small batch vodka only. Didn't visit tasting room or try other product. We had this first on a trip out west a few years ago. I think it was a new brand then, but its made it East now. As a result, I recently had some at a friends house. This is a nice potato based vodka. It comes only as a vodka, no flavors. They pride themselves on that. We enjoyed this. We had this recently as one of three samples we tried at a friends house. It tied with another for smoothness. Id have this again without hesitation. 2630

Yelp
Just spent an enjoyable couple of hours in the Woody Creek Distillers. We each tried two different cocktails with vodka made there and found both excellent. We found the staff both friendly and educated and willing to tell us about the distilling process. Their vodkas have won several awards already. Although it was a Thursday afternoon it was very busy. We found the atmosphere warm and although we chose to sit at the bar there was a lovely seating area at the front. We certainly will return the next time we stay in Glenwood Springs.

Yelp
What a friendly staff and great atmosphere. Absolutely should come try their mixed drinks and or do a tasting.

Yelp
For a good time call: Woody Creek and hope they don't have a private event so you can experience some seriously delicious cocktails! Mariel and Christian gave us An educational breakdown of what goes into their liquors and home-made Tonic (the best Ive EVER had). We bought a bottle of gin for our friends, Mariel wrapped it up nicely for us and we ended up chatting about life and travels for the next 45 min. Such a great experience! We will absolutely be back again this ski season!

Yelp
First and most importantly to me - they allow (well behaved) dogs inside the tasting room. This, coupled with the comfortable decor and lovely service, truly made our visit 1) more likely and 2) longer than we otherwise intended. Second - the spirits are pretty decent. I was certainly a fan of their gin and rye. I'm not huge on vodka and frankly, I couldn't tell you if there was anything really special about it other than it had a slightly fuller mouthfeel (due to the potato) and did not burn. While we were there, and because we had our dogs with us, we decided to stay for a cocktail. That round soon became two when the heavens opened up and monsooned all over Basalt. The cocktails is where I'm docking a star. My husband's rye old fashioned was aggressively sweet. My first drink was the Same Same - a turmeric infused vodka cocktail. I'm Indian and I am absolutely no stranger to turmeric. In fact, I routinely put it in my orange juice. This drink tasted strongly of turmeric and if it's not a flavor you're used to, you will not like it. My second drink was one with the hibiscus - I can't recall the name. It tasted of ... nothing. Unfortunately, between the tea infused vodka and the florals (and thyme?) in the drink, all the flavors were canceled out. At $12 a cocktail, I would expect better. Overall, it's certainly worth a visit, especially if Tracy (I think??) is working. She's lovely.

Yelp
Awful experience... we finally found the place (location in Google maps takes you to a warehouse) and were very excited by the looks of it. There was cool music playing and the ambience seemed promising. We walked in and despite there were multiple people that looked like they worked there all they did was put on their mask and continue talking amongst themselves. We said hello and walked around looking at the merchandise and still no sign of them realizing we were there. We finally walked to the bar and they didn't even looked at us. It seemed like they were in the middle of a photograph session or preoccupied by something. We walked passed them on our awkward way out and still no reaction. If they were too busy for customers that day, they shouldn't put up the "open/come in" sign on the door.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went on a photography trip to maroon bells hoping to capture the leaves turning. As a bonus, we decided to stop in to the distillery and have a drink (or 3) since we love the vodka. The bartenders were friendly and helpful, even offering an impromptu tour of the operation. I had a flight of rye whiskey, (straboya?)potato vodka and gin (I ended up buying a bottle of the gin despite not being a gin drinker- its that good) and my girlfriend had a variety of cocktails all of which were amazing (purple rain, buzzy pumpkin, reyzing sun, I think). We even bought some sweet merch as they were having a great sale. We only wish it were closer, so we could go more often. While they didn't serve food, they had chips and pretzels as snacks/pallet cleansers. We had a great time and enjoyed some top notch spirits.

Yelp
Moved here this winter. Feeling pretty lucky to have a distillery of this quality in our back yard. Excellent spirits and vibe, and the bartenders and staff are great. Great happy hour too!

Yelp
The drinks were fine. But there's highly pornographic imagery in the men's restroom which I saw due to the women's restroom being out of order. Really weird and disturbing. Not tasteful in any way. Highly off putting.

Yelp
This is one of the area's best kept secrets. This is my favorite bar and the cocktails are new, creative and delicious. All the bartenders have been fantastic, but their newest, Christian, is worth going in to try his inventive creations. This is friendly, dogs are also welcome. Although there is no menu, Christian offers up some yummy potato chips. It's low key, no scene, no one to impress. It's the perfect way to get away from it all.

Yelp
Very cute place. The drinks are good and the staff has always been awesome every time I've came in!

Lauren O.

Yelp
We came in for a tasting yesterday after our plans for hiking and hot springs were stopped due to the rain. The tastings were great and bar tender was very knowledgeable. We also had a couple very tasty drinks. They had a great atmosphere and really enjoyed our afternoon here!

Yelp
We booked a private birthday tour a month ago and the distillery owner NO SHOWED!!! Very unprofessional. 16 people waiting on a tour. I give this place 0 stars but Yelp is forcing a one star rating.

Yelp
After an awesome hike in aspen we stopped here for cocktails as it was my birthday. The bartender was helpful in all my stupid questions "what's the most popular" "what's your personal favorite". The drinks we deliciously dangerous. One of the distillers had just got off his shift and came up to the bar. We had some fun conversations and him and the bartender, they bought me and my boyfriends first round for my birthday. They gave us lots of local information and suggestions the best food in the area. My favorite drink was the one with cracked black pepper on the rim ( can't think of the name ) cheers to the lady bartender and distiller guy. You guys were fun and we plan on coming back.

Yelp
Loved the vodka and colorado mules we had all week but this distillery is a joke. Hardly any open hours and no direct online merchandise sales. Just don't seem to care so not sure I will continue to support.

Yelp
First time visit to Woody Creek Distillers and it is a place you do not want to miss! The bar tenders were knowledge, laid back and friendly. Our tour guide and brewer Sean (we believe to be his name) was so informed about the brew process, passionate about his craft and an embodiment of what seems to be the Woody Creek brand - sophisticated, purely real and a job well done. We will be back for future visits. #wontbedisappointed #deliciouswhitewiskey
google avatar

Yelp
Ryan, the mixologist, is top notch. His recipes are crafted to bring out the best flavor of his menu. The food boards are a little pricey but the quality makes up for it. Try the wiskey sour, or any of the vodka drinks. (Side note, spell check wants me to change mixologist to sexologist, which isn't too far off. ) Great atmosphere for a great cocktail.

Yelp
Very cool lounge style tasting room!! Highly recommend hanging out and having a few they have great signature drinks and interesting takes on classics!! Good product, relaxing tasting room, but more info on the distillery maybe a tour of the distillery would enhance the four star experience. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable about their drink menu and make you feel welcome. Definitely recommend!!!!

Erin E.

Yelp
Beautifully crafted cocktails in a gorgeous tasting room, for a price. Ordered the Yellow Jacket and Bacon Old Fashioned. Both were great, but at $12 per drink, (and my Yellow Jacket being served in doll-furniture sized portions), it's not affordable to stay for a few, as much as we would have liked to. Other distilleries in the state, from Two Guns, Peach Street, Deerhammer, all average $7-9 cocktails and are also creatively crafty drinks. I have no problem with a $12 unique cocktail, but the rest of the experience should be top-notch, and that just wasn't the case here. Service was pretty meh. Kind of ignored for a bit and weren't really spoken to other than "What do you want?" "Another round? K, here's your bill." No thank yous, etc. At other distilleries, they will at least make you feel welcome as well as explain their product. None of this happened here. We came around 5 and were pleased that drinks were $2 off during happy hour. I would definitely buy a bottle if I see one in a store, but skip the tasting room next time.

Yelp
Worst tour ever. We were in Aspen on vacation. My husband loves whiskey and bourbon so I surprised him with this tour. Epic fail. You need a reservation, so we made one. When we got there - they seemed very unprepared. Why make a reservation then? And ...we were the only ones there. We were introduced to a guy who was going to do our tour and said he would be back after we were finished tasting. The bartender poured us what was available, which wasn't much, and we couldn't purchase what we tasted because they were test products. The young bartender spoke to us like we were so uneducated about any subject - let alone spirits. He was condescending and only talked about himself. There was a meeting going on with some of the other employees and they kept coming out and talking to this bartender about other employees in a manner not so becoming...very uncomfortable and unprofessional. Then he wiped his nose and served us..sick. Finally time for our tour, but the bartender was doing it now, not the other guy. What a joke. Pretty much everything anyone would want to see on a tour was 'unavailable due to processing' so we basically got to see barrels in our maybe 10 minute tour. He knew very little about anything my husband asked and put down all the other Colorado distillers. Really disappointing.

Dirk B.

Yelp
Woody Creek Distillers is a fantastic place to enjoy a drink and get a tour of their facility. They have beautiful copper stills and the spirits they make are fantastic. I especially like their Vodka, Gin, and their Rye Whiskey. The bartenders are very nice and know everything there is to know about their products. It is also a great place to end a bike ride from Aspen which is a long but easy trek downhill on the bike path.

Joe M.

Yelp
Love coming down from Aspen for a drink. Think it's my favorite Down Valley bar. Just wish they were open longer hours. Best Old Fashions I have had.

Ann Y.

Yelp
We came here on our way to Glenwood Springs for our 44th anniversary. We were excited about this place because we live in "Colorado Potato Country", and had seen a Colorado get away program on it. No one greeted us, we looked around, finally sat at the bar to order a couple of drinks. The young lady behind the bar actually treated us as nuisances, but we pressed ahead. We ordered drinks ($14) apiece. Little tiny martinis that were NOT good. We did go ahead and buy a case of vodka for gifts and a couple of hats, etc. BUT we will NEVER go back! These folks were just plain UNFRIENDLY and our experience there was just plain weird. We have told our local stores NOT to stock that product.
