"Self proclaimed as having “the best damn wings in the Triangle,” this downtown Raleigh mainstay has served wings for over 30 years. Each batch is made fresh to order, so grab one of the 30+ beers on tap and catch any number of games bound to be on for the wait. Woody’s is a no-frills destination where the focus is more on the food and sports versus decor, but it’s an institution well worth a recurring visit." - Elliott Harrell

We just came to get a couple of brunch cocktails. Both Blue Woody and Fall Mule were really good. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. We saw what food people ordered and it quite looked appetizing

I arrived here at 7:18pm on a Friday night with a friend to get some food and a drink. We sat at a high top by the entrance. It wasn’t busy at all. About a minute after sitting, the waitress came over to introduce herself and bring waters. Around 7:30pm, we ordered chips and queso, drinks, from the bartender who came over to serve us. Our drinks arrived 7:35pm and they were tasty. I ordered our food at 7:36pm and it came at 8pm. I got garlic parm wings and a side of fries. My friend got a quesadilla. The fries are LARGE and shareable! All of the food was tasty and we enjoyed it greatly. No complaints at all, really. Waiter was attentive and prompt. I would definitely return.

Was very impressed with how many games they had on at the same time and really enjoyed the sliders & drinks! The service was extremely slow for food (waited about an hour for appetizers) but there was a music fest going on/the Eagles first game of the season was on so it was very crowded. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Raleigh!

Google
Excellent wings and lots of great beer on tap! The wait for everything was very long, but to be fair it was opening night for the Eagles. The wings took about an hour but were delicious! We got the Spicy BBQ wings and the Philly Nachos with steak. If you are from the Northeast, you will feel right at home at Woody’s.

Google
First time trying this restaurant did a 2 go order and I ordered half dozen of the wings with the habanero mango sauce 👎🏾👎🏾 it looked like and tasted like hot sauce smdh no layers of flavor just hot sauce took it back to the restaurant because this couldn’t be the right sauce they said it was and they couldn’t take it back ohhh ok so I also ordered the chicken cheesesteak smh chunks of chicken with pepper and onions with provolone cheese now I ordered American cheese with just onions smdh sans of course I went home looked at what they gave me and had to walk back to the restaurant to complain and this Will obviously be a one and done place

Google
Couldn't give it 5 stars because we went for the wing special on Wednesday, and while the wings were still delicious, they only had 1 server for half of the bar. It was also trivia night, so it was a bit busy. Made for sluggish service. The server was super nice though so can't blame her for bad scheduling. That and they charge you $1 for 0.5 oz of blue cheese / ranch dressing. Really? Make it 1 oz at that price at least!

Jesica Hardy

Google
When I walked into the restaurant, I was not greeted. Took a while before I was served the first time but the second time it was okay. The drinks are good, the food is good. The smell of the restaurant is something to be reckoned with. They have awesome happy hour specials on appetizers and drinks. If you want something quick and a good drink, this is the place to go to

Beth Palmer

Google
Wednesday is 1/2 off wings! On the menu, wings come with veggies and a dipping sauce. BUT on Wednesday wing night, those are now extra. Lesson learned SMH. The waitress could have mentioned this. Still SMH!

Yelp
Woody's on Sunday when the Eagles are on is one of my favorite places to be! When we moved to Raleigh a couple of years ago we were looking for a place to watch the birds and this was the first place that popped up in our search. Full disclosure, that's the only time I've ever been here, so this review will be about that experience only. You will want to get here at least 30 mins before kickoff to get a table. Also in my experience the 1PM games are much easier to find a spot for than anything else. We've definitely walked in, walked around, and walked right back out on game day before since if you don't have a table, there is not a lot of room to stand. The service is great! The servers are very attentive! The food is also fantastic! Their Philly cheese nachos are my favorites and my husband loves their wings (buffalo hot especially). They also have a pretty eclectic and long list of shooters if you are into that. It's wonderful to hear our fight song and there is always one guy who walks around giving high-fives to people in Eagles gear. I love it! This is a great spot. Go birds.

Yelp
Wednesday is 1/2 off wing night. On the menu, wings come with the veggies and a dipping sauce. BUT on Wednesday wing night, those are extra now, you pay for the extras!! SMH, lesson learned. But the waitress could have said something. Just saying. Still SMH.

Yelp
Great sports bar! Wings and wraps were delicious. The wing sauces were all great. They had some fun drafts too!

Yelp
I visited Woody's this past weekend while downtown attending the We The Roses Festival. We were famished and needed to grab a local bite while in the area. The bartender was very polite and took our orders promptly. They have a rather extensive cocktail and craft shots menu here. I did not try the specialty shots but was very curious. They were labeled cute names like " Honey Nut Cheerios shot ". I decided on a Kentucky mule since the weather was so humid. My drink was kind of weak, but that may have been because the mug for the mule was smaller than most. I decided to order cheeseburger sliders. The food I ordered was simple and just ok, nothing to write home about. My 4-star rating is favorable with the waitstaff here. Really nice folks who aimed to please. Woody's prides itself on its wings and my friend had an order. I will have to come back for an order and to try the craft cocktails/ shots. You may also request a to-go drink if participating in Downtown Raleigh's Sip & Stroll.

Yelp
Great place to watch an eagles game and get a cheesesteak! Feels like being back in Philly!

Lorraine N.

Yelp
Great location great atmosphere excellent and friendly service. A gem in the area. The food is nothing special. Got fries tots and wings. Great little drinking joint.

Kai D.

Yelp
First time coming here and I did not realize how big this place was. They have 2 bars and plenty of seating. They had a charging station for your phone at the bar. I decided to try a half of dozen of THE BEST DAMN WINGS IN THE TRIANGLE in Kickin' Garlic sauce. With blue cheese and a basket of fries. Paired it w. Modelo beer. I wanted honey mustard sauce for my fries too but the bartender forgot. It took awhile for him to bring the check.

Andrew S.

Yelp
Fantastic wings and good service while sitting at the bar. Kind of a hole in the wall place but my experience two nights in a row while on a work trip were great. It's a little dim and full of regulars but it's my kind of place.

Falan E.

Yelp
Woody's is a long-standing gem in the Raliegh area since 1993 and is high on Raliegh's top Tavern list for locals and visitors. I needed something to line my stomach before I started drinking. I ordered naked wings and mozzarella. Everything tasted very good. I do recommend Woody's if you don't have a reservation and need a bite to eat before you hit the streets. I asked for all drums and the waitress seemed very accommodating but when my order came out it wasn't all drums (sad face). Besides that, I enjoyed the food! The cocktail was okay. I say, stick with the basics here! Gin & Tonic, Wines, and Brews. So for my sip & stroll, I went with the merlot on ice. A great choice to stroll to my next destination.

Kim M.

Yelp
1/2 price apps 330-530. Got the veggie quesadillas (loaded black beans, fresh avocado, cheese, grilled veggies) fabulous but the fried Philly egg rolls wow to die for!! Drinks reasonable prices. Staff friendly. Would definitely return.

Larry L.

Yelp
The burgers are big, juicy and delicious. The restaurant is laid back and has good vibes.

Yelp
I went to Woody's in Raleigh last night for the first time. I've been to their Cary location several times, and had good experiences there, so I was looking forward to eating at the downtown Raleigh location. However, I can honestly say this was the worst dining experience I've had in my ten years living in the Triangle. They tell you that you can ask any of the servers for help or give any of them your order. My boyfriend and I met two others there, who had already ordered drinks and an appetizer. It was 6:30pm. When we tried to call out to multiple nearby servers, we were blatantly ignored. We had to wait until someone brought the appetizer to order drinks for us and food for the whole table. The server looked like she was annoyed by our presence. The food took so long to come out that I had to go ahead and leave an hour later to get to a show I had tickets for. My friends boxed up my food for me. I had ordered sliders with extra pickles. When I looked in the box, they had put no pickles on the sliders, but had put them in the middle of the sliders in a pile. Also, the grilled onions were raw. I was completely disappointed. I'll happily go back to the Cary location, but don't go to the Raleigh restaurant. Your time and money will be better appreciated elsewhere downtown with friendlier, more responsive staff and better food.

Jasmin P.

Yelp
The food was ok. It's your typical tavern/bar style food. Now the Philly cheesesteak nachos are TO DIE FOR!

Kenneth J.

Yelp
We go to Woody's a couple times a month especially if there is a game we are interested in. For college sports they are incredibly accommodating on putting the game you want on one TV even if it's a bit obscure. Lots of TVs. Friendly staff. Very much a neighborhood sports bar feel. Food is good. Burger sliders and wings cheese steaks but have some specials like egg rolls with unique ingredients. The only downside is the sign that people have been referring to --don't know if it is still there --and the no masks. If they are advancing some sort of political agenda that's probably not wise for a restaurant

Lexi E.

Yelp
Went to Woody's during the festival. They were not very busy, but they were acting as if they were slammed. It was a Sunday, they have a wing special which is a dozen for $10. They have a four dollar up charge if you want all drums or all flats. I got a regular order of 12 wings. When my wings arrived 45 minutes later there were, nine drumsticks and three flats. I'll eat drumsticks, not my particular thing, but usually when ordered are in even numbers are pre-portioned for half and half. I let the Server know I have no desire for an order of wings that's 85% drumsticks. She literally told me I'm just trying to pay the bills and this is what I got after taking them to the kitchen, and then not wanting to cook a few more flats. For some people that don't discern the chicken parts thinking that all chicken is the same for them. Congratulations. But for those who have a preference like me it is a big deal. I would typically eat all of the flats, and then take the drumsticks and give them to a homeless person Just to not waste food. But I'm not gonna pay for some thing I'm really not going to eat. So this review is for the comments from the server, the lack of customer service in the kitchen and also the excuse that for $10 "this is what you get". No where did I see that stated on the menu. So buyer beware if you go there and happy hour because the apps are half off that means that you could potentially get a sub par item and you better suck it up because you're lucky to be getting it at that price. Pretty stupid if you ask me and I've managed bars and restaurants for 15 years. This goes pacifically to the management if your staff thought they were in the weeds on that day where I wasn't very busy I suggest you get a better trained kitchen staff or you staff more people, because they have no idea of what in the weeds actually means then. ** if you are on Uber eats DoorDash GrubHub, etc. and that is the reason why your kitchen was drowning then you need to reevaluate your business model. From a consumer perspective, no one's gonna know or care whether your kitchen is in the weed from invisible to go orders. Just saying.

Josh M.

Yelp
Providing a gathering spot for Philadelphia Eagles fans in downtown Raleigh and the wider RDU triangle earns Woody's five stars. Iggles angle aside, Woody's is a quintessential sports bar just off of Moore Square. Two rooms adorned with plenty of TVs. A fine lineup of taps with rotating daily drink specials. Artfully cooked wings with all kinds of sauce options. Other pub grub staples. Game on. Go Birds. E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!

Ryan W.

Yelp
This restaurant has several signs out front listing all of the people that they won't allow in their restaurant for numerous reasons like choosing to wear a mask, wearing a hood, "smelling like marijuana," "if you do not shower on a regular basis," and more. It's clear that the owners of the restaurant discriminate against customers that they don't personally like, which is not only blatantly reprehensible but also not aligned with Raleigh's values of welcome all people. The bottom of their sign says "go somewhere else" which is exactly what I'll do.

Lexi M.

Yelp
Now this is a good divey sports bar! This is the first sports bar that has charging stations ready for all the customers to use! I was so pleased to see that and people were of course using them. It's in a very cute area in City Market and this is a good divey bar to get a good drink and be amongst good people. Love this place!

Bruce K.

Yelp
Chicken wings for lunch today at Woody's. Sitting at the bar on a quiet weekday I had good service and the young lady working the bar kept my drink refilled. It's peaceful with the sports on the television and only three other people in the whole place. My wings took less than ten minutes and were hot and spicy. Decently meaty, quite tasty. The celery was a little weak but that's not why we're here. Wings, please! Served with some wetnaps that I needed and more club soda than I could possibly drink. If you're looking for the spot to catch the Hurricanes or the Wolfpack with beer and wings in downtown, you could do well here. [Review 12307 overall, 2091 of 2019.]

Lisa F.

Yelp
We ordered to go and the best part was the bartender who went to get our order. Very nice and personable but the food sucked. Ordered all apps, the chicken quesadillas - chicken tasted old and I literally spit it out. The mozzarella sticks could've possibly been good but they were cold and the only saving Grace was the Buffalo wings, which were slightly tasty but were the tiniest wings I've ever seen. And don't get me wrong, I don't like the terradactyl size wings either but their drums were the size of flats. Hadn't been since college and should've kept it that way.

Zoraya M.

Yelp
Brooding place, boring menu, the avocado in my BLT was hard and it seems they put something on the avocado to try and make it taste good...yeah they failed. Avocado tastes good by itself. The only think I ate from this BLT was the bacon and tomato. On top the bread wasn't toasted, everything was falling apart, the bread was soggy. I think this place is only good to drink. You can't fuck up a drink (hopefully).

Kiel J.

Yelp
We live up the street (less than a mile) from this location and have been going there for years. The other night we ordered to pick up some food and when my wife went to pick it up, a large lady literally yelled in my wife's face because she was sitting at the bar and not at the door like she should have been. She was instead talking to people at the bar and not near the front door where she should have been if an ID is needed to enter. But being ID'ed is not the issue, I understand living in DT Raleigh that some bars require ID to come in after certain hours. It is the fact that your security guard literally yelled in my wife's face in front of other staff members who stood there and looked confused. When my wife told me what happened, we called and were told a GM would give us a call in the next day, this was several days ago and still not contact from anyone from Woody's. One of the worst experiences I have experienced from a restaurant and lack of caring from a restaurant that we used to visit many times a month, if not weekly.

Joshua W.

Yelp
I'm currently a Postmates driver and this particular location is a place a lot of people order from so I decided to see what the hype was about. I came during lunch and to my surprise they have an $8.88 lunch special which is from 11am-2pm. This special includes a range of items from their menu (Phillies, Burgers, Wings Sandwiches & Tacos). Parking isn't the best so plan accordingly. Since it wasn't packed, I decided to dine in. Woody's adheres to all Social Distancing rules/ laws so it wasn't a hard decision to dine in.There's space in between seats at the bar, the waiters & waitresses wear mask, and they keep it pretty clean in providing sanitizing wipes to all the customers. They even require guest to use QR Readers to access their menus to keep from having multiple people touching the same menus all day. I took advantage of the Lunch Special and ordered the 5 Jumbo wings ($7.29) and The Grill Cheese Burger with fries ($8.88). It took about 10 minutes, if that, for my order to be brought out to me and it was hot just how I like it. My only complaint which really isn't a complaint for most, is that the burger wasn't seasoned enough for my particular liking. I ordered the burger well done and it was cooked to perfection, but I would've preferred a little bit more seasoning. The fries however, were also hot and cooked to the right crunchiness. They weren't too hard or too soft and were seasoned great. The wings were my favorite. Nice in size (bigger than most) and also hot. The flavor, slow burn wasn't spicy enough for me so next time I'll have to get a more spicy flavor. Overall I wasn't disappointed with my decision to go here or order these 2 meals from the menu. I definitely plan on going back soon and I also recommend this place to anyone in the downtown Raleigh area looking to grab a bite to eat.

Idonger R.

Yelp
We are regulars at Woody's and we will not be returning. Our service tonight was terrible and the manager is straight ghetto trash. We were served our food with no utensils, we went to the bar and said excuse me to get the trashy A$$ managers attention. She was too worried about stuffing her face and flirting with two men at the bar that the repeated excuses me went ignored. Five minutes later, she proceeded to speak to us with utter disrespect. when asking for the manager, she felt super entitled and stated I am the manager. We will never come back here. The owner should really get a manager who's interested in costumer service and not trying to pick up a date while working!!! Our waiter apologized for the managers behavior. It's obvious her little management position has gone to that ugly head of hers!!! Raleigh location

Ken W.

Yelp
Tried Woody's for the first time the other day. Thoughts: *Had a Grilled chicken sandwich, was tasty and a decent size. They used decent lettuce as well, not shredded iceberg. Fries were hot and stayed hot, they were good. I should of tried the Old Bay ones , maybe next time. * Better than i expected...We will return.

Diane C.

Yelp
I had a Ruben sandwich and it was the worst I have ever tasted Also the garlic fries were too salty. There is a place on Blue Ridge Road that makes a true Ruben sandwich and uses the RYE BREAD . I picked up my meal at 2:40 on 9-27-40

Abigail S.

Yelp
There a weird kinda racist statue of what is supposed to be a Native American. There's also a sign on the door that goes on this long rant about not smelling like marijauna and a couple other things like being dressed appropriately (the list is numbered it's kind of insane). Food is good but overpriced even for downtown. Bartenders are friendly. Drinks are fine I appreciate they usually have a cider or some other non beer option on tap. Convenient location but you can get the same stuff downtown without the uncomfortable aspects from ownership.

Stan L.

Yelp
Great lunch place downtown Raleigh. Daily lunch specials are priced fairly and the food is great. I had the taco salad and it was very tasty.

Serenity R.

Yelp
so nice!!! they also started doing a bachelor viewing on Monday nights, they're super involved w guests and friendly.

Lindy P.

Yelp
Woody's is a late night staple in the cute City Market. It's definitely a dive bar meets sports bar, but my god their wings are the best in downtown Raleigh! They've also got a pretty good craft beer selection & the bartenders are usually sweet. The place is grungy AF & definitely looks older than it is (15yr). The crowd is hit or miss. Parking is on the street or in the garage across the street. They've got a few tables outside but tons of seating side. I like that they do open mic, stand-up improv, & have bands many nights through the week. They have late night food until 2am, and again did I tell you their wings are incredible? If you're not ashamed of a little grunge & zero frills, make your way over to Woody's... the wings are great & even better after a few beers :)

Quincy D.

Yelp
Great dive bar and late night food and drink spot. Went on a Saturday night pretty good band playing. Decent priced drinks and late night menu had crispy pork belly it was excellent. Others had wings and fries were good too.

Chris D.

Yelp
Went here prior to having lunch down the street today. Great service by our bartender and nice atmosphere. Their beer selection is fairly extensive and tasty. Try the jalapeño beer. Nom.

Keia R.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I had wings and this spot was it. The atmosphere was great. We went around midnight and ate at the bar. The drink we had was everything too(crown apple with cranberry). The service was top notch even at midnight. A must try bar/restaurant in downtown Raleigh!!!!

Will C.

Yelp
Had the blazing buffalo wings. Thought they were quality wings and well cooked. While it was the spiciest on the menu, I didn't find them oppressively hot. If you fancy yourself a spice fiend then I fully recommend.

Tre T.

Yelp
First time here. Walked in and looked at theloval at the bar. Tables open. Games on. Well we sat down and within a few minutes the waiter cane up. Friendly and ask us what to drink. When he cane back we ordered our food. As we waited and stuff. He would come by check on us and others. Always friendly. Food comes out served by the cooks. Burgers smelled good. Well they were. Cooked perfectly. Fat and happy now. All in all not a bad place. They did keep comn over. Asking how the food was and if we needed anything. So i give them 5 stars.

JASMIN M.

Yelp
Im lowering my stars due to the fact that i ordered my veggie burger well.. it came out pale and barely cooked, and the fries were not edible.. literally sent my whole side of fries back because of the amount of SALT!!!! Wayyyyy tooooo much salt. The waiters seen me trying to wipe the fries and chose not to inquire. The waitress also seem the full order of fries going back and chose not to inquire. I don't want to complain but it would be nice if she would have simply fixed the issue without me having to complain. death by salt!!!! Our bill came and the price of the Bloody Mary was 3$.. we told her to add a shot of vodka... so if it came with one.. give us two shots... simply math should have made the drink 5/6$ they charged is 9$ per Bloody Mary! Once questioned why ... she simply said the other bartenders told her to charge like that! DISAPPOINTED

Lori R.

Yelp
This is the kind of place you go to when you're feeling grungy, hungry and in need of a beer. Especially if you want wings. They do some really good wings! We've had sandwiches & salads, tater tots...it's all pretty okay bar food with an old-school grungy vibe. Last time we were there our waitress recommended we try the Philly Cheese Steak next time...said the owner is from Philly. Might just do that, but then there's always those wings!

Tammy W.

Yelp
This spot is my favorite way to start an evening downtown. Good food, good vibes and cold beer! The chicken philly nachos are my absolute favorite!!

Yolanda M.

Yelp
This is a big fat no! Lol. If you enjoy being talked to crazy and sub par service then have at it.

Luke D.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Monday. Two of my wings were not full wings. Fried sides are excellent. Great service. Awesome location. We still like the other Woodys better but this one great stop downtown.

Dee H.

Yelp
Gotta go for the Philly eggrolls or the fried califlower. Every time I pass by we grab a to go order of the egg rolls

Steve P.

Yelp
Worst place I've ever been treated. I asked for all flat wings and girl went psycho. After that i was harassed and my girl was emotionally abused. She tried making sense with the owners but the owners have a combined IQ of 10. We will never spend another dime in that place. I tried to call and make amends but the manager said he'd rather call his mom and ask for advice. Joke of a bar.

Bon J.

Yelp
Great place for Keno... and they have 16oz PBR. I feel bad for places like this. Charging for extra hot sauce with your wings is just sad. The owners must be really struggling or just don't appreciate their wings customers, either way... just sad. They are also a bar in NC and do not play the panthers games over the speakers. The staff was great!, food was great, Keno and PBR on point. Yay

Chyna R.

Yelp
I order through post mates got my order late , then when I got my order the chicken was uncooked I called today and spoke to a manager Farrah and she was so unpleasant and rude she cut me off as I tried to nicely speak and doubted that my order wrong and refused to fix my order ! Buffalo Wings I wish next time there is better service and food

Cherie B.

Yelp
My husband and I walked in and the security told us they are not allowing people in wearing hoodies and mask because someone robbed them wearing a hoodie and mask. That is an exact quote. We left.

Mason B.

Yelp
Food looks good. The place is pretty big size. The wait staff and bartender seems like they could careless if you order anything from them at all. Very disappointed. Would not recommend going unless you want to wait for your food.

Patrick L.

Yelp
Ordered a chicken Cesar salad for pick up. The salad was fantastic and really hit the spot. However, the employees were rude. Apparently I entered through the wrong door to pick up my food (I entered through the main entrance) and the little blond girl working that section was incredible condescending, sucking her teeth, rolling her eyes, and speaking down to me when I said I was there to pick up my food. I went through the restaurant to the backroom where I was told to go. Repeated my statement to the brown hair girl in the section and she ALSO rolled her eyes and gestures vaguely towards a table with several other pick up order in it. Had to dig through other peoples food to find my bag since it had the order, but not my name on the receipt. Really liked the salad, but very unlikely I'll ever come back here again.

Linda S.

Yelp
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! First time visiting this location and the last time. Ordered takeout and apparently someone can't count because the 20 wings we ordered only came with 19 weird looking wings. They were super dry as far as sauce and nothing like the Cary location. I called to let the manager know and Phallyn got quiet as if to say "so...what do you want me to do about it" after I told her they shorted us a wing and barely put any sauce on them. She then said "well I mean you can drive over here and I'll replace them but I'm not giving you a refund for 1 missing wing". I didn't even ask for a refund but I definitely wasn't driving downtown. She didn't offer an apology or a discount the next time I came or anything else but for me to drive downtown from NW Raleigh or call back Monday to talk to her GM but said he'd probably tell me the same thing. Either she's psychic or she knows her GM is just as rude as she is. Some people should not be in customer service positions. Nobody has to visit your restaurant for mediocre food that they can't even get right and bad service. This location needs to pick a struggle. You can't have bad food and bad customer service.
