Woracziczky

"Diners are given a warm welcome In this pleasingly informal inn (pronounced "Vorashitsky"). Both its laid-back atmosphere and Viennese cuisine are a hit, with house specialities such as beef tartare with avocado, or Tafelspitz (boiled veal) served with a creamy chanterelle sauce. The reasonably priced lunchtime set menu, which changes daily, is especially popular." - Michelin Inspector

I'm really confused as to why this is Michelin recommended, especially thinking about the kinds of restaurants that are Michelin recommended in my hometown of Montreal. There's just no comparison to be made. Despite the restaurant offering a nice atmosphere, and the service being relatively good (there was one woman serving the whole restaurant, so keep that in mind), the food was average. It wasn't bad, but also not great. Maybe this is the best Michelin could find in Vienna, and Austrian cuisine just isn't very elaborate, I'm not sure, but it's definitely not for me.

The food was really good. Light, fresh and really tasty. We went for the special with the soup and the beef tartar. Loved it. Service is really good, friendly and quick.

A very homely restaurant with value for money lunches. If you are not in the mood for the daily set lunch, there is a separate lunch menu which is also quite affordable. Menus are provided in English as well should you need it.

Woracziczky Gasthaus isn't just a restaurant; it's a portal to the heart of Vienna. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the warmth of owner Marion and the whole team, whose smile is as welcoming as the aroma of delicious food wafting from the kitchen. The atmosphere is pure Viennese charm: cozy wooden interiors bathed in warm light, creating a comfortable and inviting space. The menu sings of local, seasonal ingredients, with each dish crafted with passion and skill. Woracziczky's culinary magic lies in its simplicity. The Wiener Schnitzel is a masterpiece of crispy perfection, while the hearty Gulasch warms you from the inside out. Every bite is a celebration of authentic Viennese flavors and traditions. Beyond the food, what truly sets Woracziczky apart is its genuineness. The team‘s infectious hospitality and the friendly service create an atmosphere that makes you feel like you're dining amongst family. Whether you're a foodie or simply seeking a taste of authentic Vienna, Woracziczky is a must-visit. Just remember to reserve your table, as this Viennese gem is known for its popularity!

I had a wonderful dinner here last night. Everything was delicious and timely and the wine was excellent and very affordable. I'm going again for lunch because of how wonderful it was. For a soup, main course, desert, two glasses of wine and a spirit it was under 50 even with a tip.

How on earth is this TERRIBLE restaurant in the Bib Gourmand? Our chicken was burnt to the point of visible black charring, you couldn't even cut it with a knife - it was tougher than shoe leather. My salad actually had a piece of rotten lettuce in it. Not that they ever checked to see how the food was. The staff were too busy chatting to friends to take care of the 3 tables in the entire restaurant. My glass was empty for 30 minutes (again, staff too busy chatting to get a refill). Then when I finally ordered a refill, it never came. My husband ordered a coffee with dessert...also never came - mind you, it was on the bill. We told them about the burnt inedible food. The server shrugged and said 'okay'. That's it. Then continued to ignore us. I see they are a neighbourhood type place - I expect the good reviews are coming from friends in the area. The only thing worse than the food is the service. They also only accept cash, no cards - but that is the least of the problems.

Yelp
We did not get a chance to taste the food as they told us that the kitchen was already closed.... Friday 8:25PM..... the declared hours of operation are until 11:30PM..... we have gotten a strange feeling.... Sorry for the comment. I will remove this comment once the owners update the hours of operation....

Yelp
I was told by some locals that the weinerschnitzel here was outstanding. The were right! I really enjoyed the food at this quaint little restaurant in a sleepy part of Vienna. A lot of locals frequented this place and I could see why. I did the whole schpiel - appetizer/entree/dessert - but the first two were really memorable. The pancake soup here was absolutely awesome. The flavor of the broth was rich yet smooth. The weinerschnitzel was excellent. Perfectly cooked and the meat was flavorful and tender. The tasty potato salad was a perfect compliment to the meat. Honestly if I go back to Vienna in the near future, I will make an effort to head back to this place. The folks here are extremely friendly and the service was top notch. I can see why locals and non-locals alike gave this place pretty good reviews. You can't go wrong with great food and good service!

Yelp
Wonderful place! We didn't have reservations because I didn't know. But they served us anyways! Very nice of them. They accept cash only. Food delicious! Bread is freshly made. Very nice service. I ordered the roasted beef and hummus for an appetizer/starter. Both were fantastic. This location was within walking distance. Warm ambiance and feels like a family owned business. As an American, I enjoy supporting these kinds on businesses. My suggestions are to bring cash with you and make a reservation.

Yelp
Excellent Austrian fare. I enjoyed the dumplings, beef tartare, the tasty beef, and the foie gras was amazing! I highly recommend. Note - no bank cards accepted. This was a bit of a shock and resulted in 10 min walk in the rain after the meal.

Yelp
Gasthaus Woracziczky is one of the top spots in Vienna to enjoy Wienerküche (Viennese cuisine.) This off-the-beaten-track eatery in Margareten is exactly what a Gasthaus today needs to be to thrive. It's friendly, it offers amenities like water without asking, and it cooks Viennese classic recipes with updated seasonings. Luckily it is just minutes away from where I live and everyone I know In the neighborhood loves it. Recently I enjoyed a fine Zwiebelrostbraten with a glass of Grüner Veltliner. And the other four people I was with enjoyed their soups and main dishes (especially a Wienerbackhendl) very much. Margareten is blessed with Rudi's Beisel, Duspara, Silberwirt, and of course Woracziczky - all of which keep Viennese cooking fresh for a new generation of foodies!

Yelp
This place won my heart over. The atmosphere is exquisite. The service is amazing (I promise you!) and the wine is fantastic. I highly recommend this place. I will absolutely be coming back. Also. They do not accept credit cards here. Not sure why it says they do, but they don't. So bring cash!

Yelp
This is a lovely neighborhood place with a local feel. We walked over from our AirBNB because it had good reviews, but not so many reviews that it looks touristy. The bread was very good. We ordered a couple glasses of wine which were very good and the squid as an appetizer. The squid was stuffed with vegetables on a bed of frisée and one of the best starters I've ever had anywhere! For an entree I ordered the fried chicken--crispy, moist and delicious. (Too bad they're not into buffalo sauce in Vienna). I tried the fried chicken liver but it's not my thing. The potato salad with baby lettuce was a bit soggy for my taste. My husband ordered the kabob which was moist and cooked perfectly, he said it was delicious. We didn't order dessert as we were satiated. The service was impeccable and the food was fresh, delicious, and well prepared. I would certainly return. Note they are cash only.

Yelp
Don't visit Vienna and miss dinner here! Make sure to make reservations. If you're all about supporting family owned businesses - patronize Woracziczky! Try the Backhendel (chicken) - you'll never want ordinary fried chicken again. It's down the way, southwest of the Naschmarkt, just off the Schonbrunner Strasse. Take the U4 to the Pilgramgasse stop and walk a few blocks through the Margareten area.

Yelp
Warm and welcoming atmosphere. You feel like you are a part of the family the moment you enter the room! The food is simple but it tastes like your grandma made it. It's definitely 5 Stars in it's class. Oh and try the "Marillen Knödel" ;)

Yelp
Once in a while, its a great feeling to find a place that hits every spot with 5 stars: quality, service and ambiance. The food on the menu is short and focused to their strength. Apparently their menu changes each week but still they seem to do what they do best. They did not seem to be trying to claim they can cook everything any time, but for the week (or perhaps season) they will focus on doing what tastes delicious. The meal tasted delicious! The service really blew me away because its hard to come across a place where the staff is nice and right there when you need them. It was really the first time I had finished my drink and at the right time someone came and asked if I would like another. Coffee even came with dessert, which I find hardly happens around here. The ambiance was ridiculously simple for such a 5 star place. Actually its simplicity was amazing. Usually in such traditional places you are visually bombarded with jars, glasses, ceramics, etc. Its as if the place wanted you to just focus on your meal and enjoy the company next to you. We went there upon a recommendation and really enjoyed ourselves. This is a place you can go on a romantic meal but also with family members. Its not a very loud place so perhaps might not be a good choice for a group of drinking buddies to go there. However, if you're objective is to enjoy a great meal and service, then definitely try this place. But definitely reserve!!! You will not get a place if you just walk in. Mahlzeit!

Yelp
Great food and charm in a great neighborhood joint in Vienna...I'm sure we were the only tourists there the weeknight we were there. Beef schnitzel with horseradish off the hook! Great wine too...be aware that it's cash only...

Yelp
Honestly this place deserves more recognition. The food was excellent and the service was quick and the staff very warm. They have menus for English, French, and many other languages. I would highly recommend it as both excellent food, and an excellent price. As some other people have said though, they only take cash. Plan ahead and enjoy!
