We worked with them on a recent large scale production and could not have had a better experience. They handled several curve balls to the plan incredibly well and with a lot of kindness. Serving dinner for 300+ guests is no small task and everything came out beautifully presented, delicious, and with impeccable service. My team and I could not recommend them enough!

I ordered my birthday cake from here thinking I was going to get quality and it was absolutely awful. The cake was crumbly, the frosting clearly had more butter in it than sugar which resulted in a frosting that felt and tasted like butter, and the cake wasn't sweet the way you'd expect a cake to be. We ended up throwing the cake away and buying a ready made cake from HEB which we could've done from the beginning.

Reckless driver!! Almost killed my boyfriend and I doing an illegal u-turn and stopped while we were going the speed limit so we almost crashed head on. S 1st Street and Barton Springs at 4:35am in Austin, Texas. This is his license plate. Austin’s crashes are no joke and this was unacceptable!

Word of Mouth has an AMAZING team! John and Sandra were fantastic people to work with. They are kind, attentive, and hardworking. The same goes for the rest of their team. Everyone showed up on time, they all looked very nice in their button-ups and gave great service to our high-end clientele. They were respectful of our space, and even helped our bar staff clean up at the end of the night. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could! We can't wait to have them back.

We used Word of Mouth Fine Catering for our wedding, it was absolutely incredible. Our guest came up to us multiple times throughout the night to tell us how delicious everything was. Multiple people told us it was 'the best short rib they ever had,' and I have to agree! Not only was food delicious, the staff was so wonderful and pleasant. It really made our night extra special.

So bummed the bakery isn't open anymore. Was a fave neighborhood spot of mine. Had the best almond croissants and always looked forward to seeing the beautiful goodies in the pastry case. Best of luck in your new direction!

Great food at tasting, but horrible customer service and food at wedding. They told my venue owner the night before my wedding that they "don't do champagne toasts." I'm sorry, but you need to tell the bride, when they order a full bar, that they're not getting champagne or that that is extra. I was lied to about what was included in basic bar vs luxury bar. Meat served room temperature and without sauce - I was told the sauce for the very dry chicken was straight lemon juice, which is not a sauce. Not enough appetizers to feed 75 people - multiple guests commented that the food "looked" delicious but that the wait staff never came by with any. Wedding party of 12 was given two plates of 16 tiny appetizers during cocktail hour, so my groomsmen were super hangry. When you pay almost $100 per person, everyone should be well fed. They added coconut to the batter of my cake without asking me or telling me the recipe had changed. I am still so ashamed that I hyped up the food to my guests for months before the wedding only to have this happen. I'm trying to forget that my parents shelled out $12,000 for the food. There's even more that went wrong, but hopefully you get the gist. Do not trust them for your wedding or major event. I'm posting this because I don't want them to ruin anyone else's wedding.

Just used these guys for a 230 person wedding, they were magnificent. We got many compliments on the food, and the staff really knew how to do it all! You will not be disappointed if you sign them up!

Had used Word of Mouth Catering for years - food and service were always top notch. I believe they went through a sale last year. This year (2023) contacted them again; tried to get two proposals for a solid month. They would not hold a date without a signed proposal but I couldn't get a proposal. Was told two weeks before my event that they were booked on the dates I wanted. Really bad customer service this year. Am going to try Austin Catering based on some recommendations.

Word of Mouth Catering is absolutely the best! They catered two big birthday parties for me. The food was very delicious, and they worked with within my budget. I could enjoy the party as their staff was excellent catering to the needs of my guests. Friends left raving about the food. It can't get much better than that!

Word of Mouth Catering did such a great job with our v small wedding. The food was delicious - we had salmon, green beans, Mac and cheese, beef loin - it was all great. The team who worked on it was also so professional. And of course the cake was perfect! We would absolutely use them again.

Word of Mouth is an excellent caterer! I have hired them for a small private party and a huge corporate event. The food is beyond wonderful, the service is professional, and they are a joy to work with. I highly recommend them for your next event!!

First, I get the whole "Word of Mouth" concept...but how about a sign out front...? So that your prospective clients will find your location without a hitch. Speaking of getting hitched....this is the catering company that my wedding venue required us to use. At our food tasting, the food was cold. I gave them the benefit of the doubt...surely culinary professionals will pay attention to a detail such as that on the big day? I couldn't have been more wrong. Not only was my food cold (and I was sitting at the first table to be served) ... as the guests at my table were finishing their main course, I looked out into the room, and saw that over half the tables were still awaiting their meals! Sitting there, politely, sipping their wine, and making conversation....what else could they do, while waiting a decade for their cold meal? It sure as hell wasn't being cooked or warmed....I wonder what the delay was? Waiting for the Gouda to age? A few days before the wedding, we find out that table service for wine and beer was NOT included and guests would be required to get up and fetch their own drinks from the bar during dinner. Advanced notice of this would have been great...and setting the bar up to NOT look like a cash bar would have been even greater. There's nothing tackier than a cash bar at a wedding, and we were thoughtful enough in our planning to budget wine, beer, and soft drinks for all our guests...only to realize none of them took advantage of it, because they simply didn't know the wine, beer and soft drinks were complimentary, and they had to get up to get them. My poor parents got up half-way during dinner, and as they greeted and chatted with each table, they also let the guests know that an assortment of refreshments was also available. This catering company proposed (their idea!) to take a sample of each of the 5 flavors of my wedding cake to each table, and let the guests know which flavors were which, thus giving them the option to choose which they'd prefer. What ACTUALLY happened, was that 5 petit-fours were flung on an oblong plate, and dumped on each table, no elaboration. I doubt if any of my guests knew they had a choice. The champagne toast that was to accompany the cake cutting was completely omitted, skipped, or forgotten? In any case, no champagne for the guests. Lastly, in my list of grievances with this company...tea and coffee was not served, although that same-morning, my mother had been on the phone with them, and had carefully selected an assortment of teas and blends that the guests might enjoy. As I mentioned in my review of the venue - people in the wedding business must know that they only have ONE chance at getting that bride's special day right. To them, it might be just another gig, but to a bride, it's her one and only wedding day. Displeased doesn't even begin to describe it. Chalk it up to incompetence, chalk it up to insufficient communication between the venue and the caterer, or WHATEVER you want to chalk it up to...Word of Mouth catering certainly shan't be recommended via word of mouth to my circle of friends and acquaintances. As I don't like to be entirely negative, I shall say: if the food had been hot, it would have been good, and the staff were polite enough.

I have always had an amazing experience when Word of Mouth has catered our events. The food is always as tasty in person as it is when selecting the menu items. Andrea was very easy to work with for all of our dietary restrictions when we were building our holiday party menu (we have gluten free, vegetarians, and vegan friendly items). Then on site for the Holiday party Nancy and her staff were AMAZING! They had everything set up on time when guests arrived and were constantly monitoring our stations to make sure the food was hot and that there was enough out on the table. The staff cleaned up super quick and quietly and were so polite and helpful. I can't say enough good things. I look forward to hiring Word of Mouth for our future company events and holiday parties. Thank you again!

This is the outfit we call when we're spending 10's of thousands of dollars on an event. If you call for a small wedding you might get sticker shock. Leslie bought the business back last year and it shows on every level ! QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY

We originally visited Word of Mouth catering to see if they could cater Southeast Asian food at our wedding at Laguna Gloria. Although we ultimately went with 34th Street Cafe to cater our wedding, it was a very, very difficult decision. The prices were competitive, so it ultimately came down to the food. We thought our tasting at 34th Street tasted more authentic and felt more inspired, but Word of Mouth overall had more creative servingware and presentation ideas. I had also tried their American and Tex-Mex fare at one of their open houses, and it was quite excellent. And they also had excellent cake. That was a bit of a shock, because we didn't even know they did cake unti our tasting, and it blew us away --- better than any actual bakery we tried. In fact, their Orange Blossom cake was so memorable that we ultimately chose Word of Mouth as our wedding cake vendor. The cake was super moist and not too sweet, and the Poire William flavored buttercream was creamy, but not too heavy. Utter perfection.

It started out great. I spoke with Sara over the phone and outlined a party I am planning for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. It took a few days to get the menu and proposal, but my mother and I liked the menu and decided to go with this company. I set an appointment with Sara on the only day my mother and I both had available - and Sara missed the appointment. When I called, it was clear she had completely forgotten about it...and then did not bother to apologize, only offering to "run right over" more than half an hour after the scheduled time. I told her we had somewhere else to be. Since then I have not received a follow-up phone call or even a courtesy email. I guess they don't want to bother with a smaller party. I have been in the food service business for years - including helping coordinate or cook for over 500 banquets and other catering events - and I know how important the customer service angle is when dealing with clients. Word of Mouth doesn't seem to get it, or maybe they just don't care.

Delicious food and professional, courteous staff. We used WOM to cater our wedding dinner reception and we received several compliments about the food. My husband is also obsessed with the pork tenderloin cocktail sandwiches served on herbed biscuits. WOM made it easy to prepare for our wedding day knowing that the food would be delicious and beautifully presented. They also worked together with the rental company to ensure all additional display tables, cocktail tables, linens, etc. would be ordered and delivered on time. We additionally used WOM for our wedding cake and groom's cake which turned out great and delicious! I highly recommend WOM for any special event.

I never really had a need to use a caterer until my oldest daughter got married. We visited every major caterer in Austin and Word of Mouth was the absolute best caterer we visited. The food was outstanding, the service was exceptional and the whole event went off like clockwork. This catering company made me look so good as the father of the bride, and I can not praise their professionalism enough. The owner himself was at our event start to finish, making sure every detail was attended to. I am a lifelong Austinite so this was no small wedding for my daughter with well over 100 people being fed. You will not regret using Word Of Mouth, and as always "vote with your money" and this company is worthy of your vote....

Word of Mouth catered and served our party for 40 women last week and it was fantastic. Myra came up with a delicious menu that fit our budget and made sure it was all perfect by the time the first guest arrived. The attention to detail and elegant touches set the party apart from average to extraordinary. Guests were overheard complimenting the food and kept going back for more. The presentation was full of character to match the top notch quality of the dishes served. Who wouldn't devour beef tenderloin, almond crusted salmon and chocolate whoopie pies with salted carmel creme??? If you want a caterer that will make you look REALLY good and be worth your money, hire Word of Mouth!

There is this place I go to and it reminds me of treats and eats I could find without digging or scratching too hard in my old home of San Francisco. The food is simple yet creative and adds light and breadth to simple favorites with sophisticated embellishments. I highly recommend the turkey sandwich (the onion relish might just be the cause of a new addiction) and the blueberry cornflake sour cream muffin.

WOM catering (along with the team at the Winfield Inn) were extremely helpful in the early stages of our wedding planning process. Leslie, the owner of WOM, sent us to visit their bakery (must try, it's delicious!) after our first visit to their venue, which is a deal package of venue + catering services, and we were incredibly pleased with the variety and quality of the food (we tried the avocado Caesar salad and the citrus chicken sandwich as well as some pastries) and also their super friendly staff. The pastry chef happened to be at the bakery during our first visit and she was incredibly nice and answered all of my questions as far as cakes and pastries (which are a big deal for me). Unfortunately, we had a change of plans in our wedding and ended up not working with WOM for that event, but based on the three separate events in which we tried the bakery, which is at the very least a small showcase of their many services and options, we were very happy to be working with WOM for our wedding. Another important note, and a decisive factor which drew us in when selecting our original venue and caterer is that Leslie and the team at the Winfield (we worked primarily with Maddie, who is very knowledgeable and responsive via phone/email) is that they were open to incorporating Brazilian cuisine items to our wedding menu which is very very important to my fiance and I since I am originally from Brazil. As mentioned, we did not get to see their work up to the big day, but we would 100% recommend WOM (and the Winfield Inn!) since they were awesome to work with, very accommodating, and super reasonably priced.

Choose them! They are amazing and Maddie is the absolute best! They catered our July wedding and really did so much more! The food was phenomenal and all the place settings and little touches just made the venue pop. The staff and bartenders were all wonderful and people still comment today about how great everyone was to work with during the wedding. Thanks for going above and beyond and making it all so special. The food was wonderful, but beyond that, y'all are just great to work with and we can't thank you enough for making everything run so smoothly and feel so special! Word of Mouth is the way to go!

Attended a Wedding at the Burroughes on Queen St West catered by Toronto's Word Of Mouth. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful! Highly recommended

We were required by our wedding venue to use WOM and I'm glad we did. These guys did a buffet style sea bass that actually tasted GOOD (my vegas chef groomsman gave it two thumbs up). Staff was great, food was great, and communication leading up to the wedding was constant.... highly recommended!

Word of Mouth did an absolute fantastic job for our wedding at the Blanton Museum of Art. They are completely competent, and we were able to leave everything up to them! They worked hard and were able to produce exactly what we wanted. Our friends and family raved about how good the food was, and the cake was the best I have ever had! The staff was so polite, efficient, and we did not have to monitor them at all, which was great since we were busy with other stuff. They even made sure my husband and I had a to-go back and placed in our getaway car. Seriously, the best service, and best caterer! Look no further for catering services!

I wish there was a rating higher then 5 stars! WOM saved the party after a small fire in the kitchen damaged almost 100% of the food they had planned to serve. The service staff thought on their feet and immediately brought in additional food to serve the guests. The WOM owner came right over to help bring more equipment and help his staff make sure the guests were having fun, despite a minor blip in the plans. The beef brisket (which hadn't been damaged by the sprinkler system) was some of the best I've ever tasted. If I'm ever in a catering crisis again I want Alaina and the rest of the WOM staff on my side. The party would have been a disaster without them and their quick thinking.

5 stars don't quite cover the rating I want to give Word of Mouth. Leigh is an absolute pro and went over and above to create our perfect menu and day. Yes, I know all of us humans eat, but our family has strong food industry background, so this was a very important detail. Not only was our tasting a smashing success, but the food was as good, if not better, than when we tasted on site several months earlier. The service during dinner was out of control good. Our guests were raving about the food and the servers. Leigh and her crew took over our bar order as well after we had a last minute cancellation. In short, we would have been lost without them. We will definitely call on Leigh again with any catering needs.

My fiancee and I just got married and we used Word of Mouth catering for our special event. I cannot say enough good things about the people at Word of Mouth. From the day we met our coordinator to the day of the special event, they were on top of everything. The tasting events were superb and we loved their attention to detail. We were most impressed with the intensity of flavors delivered with their various hors d'oeurvres and entrees. Complementing this intensity was a nice balance so that all the flavors came together perfectly. For our wedding, we provided a cheese station and cocktail hour before the wedding ceremony. The wonderful cheeses were adorned with tasty fruits, jams, and honey making for a delectable beginning to the evening. After the ceremony, we had passed appetizers of wonderful complexity pleasing a variety of different palates in attendance. No one went hungry and no one went thirsty! They will also hook you up with one of the best cake makers in town (Liz Gifford). She made us a yummy red velvet bridal cake and an even yummier tres leches grooms cake. Can't beat that! I would highly recommend this group as they will take great care of you!

Word of Mouth Catering is wonderful! They did such a great job with our wedding at Mercury Hall. All of our guest were so complimentary of their service. They loved the food and are still raving about the cakes! I worked with Myra during the planning process. She is so professional and has a great 'can do' attitude! She really put my mind at ease during the planning process that everything would turn out great. And it did! We asked Myra to do a very unique seating arrangement and she was fine with it and seemed very confident doing it. The seating design was executed perfectly! The staff was also outstanding! I wish I could remember our supervisor's name but it escapes me now. He was awesome and checked with me, without being intrusive, throughout the night to keep the flow going. The bartender was so sweet to me (and I'm sure all the guest) and took care of me all night. The other staff was so kind as well! Great people! I will always recommend Word of Mouth! Only thing I can think of for them to do better is bring their business cards to events, as several of my guest wanted to know who you were! Thank you for making the night a breeze on us! Not one complaint about the food from guests, but behind the scene this catering company was a mess. Michelle, the person running the event at the time, was very unprofessional and very unorganized.

I tried there special sandwich of the day on focaccia bread, WOW! The mayo pesto sauce and avocado were great. The bread that the sandwich was on was AMAZING! Yes, they bake it there. I enjoyed it so much, I went back and asked for a piece of it to take back to the hotel with me. I have lived all over the US and 2 years in Europe, the bread reminded me of places I would eat in Europe. The staff were very friendly and courteous. I wish I had a place like this home in Raleigh!

This is a fantastic catering company thank you to Kim for helping design the menu and to the amazing team of chefs the food was phenomenal they catered a graduation welcome and a graduation reception we had some ideas of things we were bringing to one of the events and they were totally flexible and made some great suggestions the kale salad the potato salad is phenomenal the roasted turkey sliders with arugula we couldn't stop eating amazing roasted carrots and squash who knew roasted root vegetables could taste that good and I am coming back to Austin for another slice of that Berry and cream cake people are still talking about the food at graduation reception it was that good thank you wish you were in Houston looking forward to stopping by the cafe and Austin really soon

These guys just catered a large "out of town-ish" wedding for us and I could not have asked for a better result. Save yourself some search time and just use Word of Mouth. They are fantastic in every department! We got many compliments on the food and the staff could not have been easier to work with. Go Taylor Kelley (our WOM planner), you are great!

This review is solely based on response, or lack there of. This is the third time I have submitted an online request for a quote, received no response, called and then fallen through the cracks so to speak without receiving the requested information. I received an email asking if I still needed the quote over a week after I had to finalize catering plans. I am not sure I will be contacting Word of Mouth again for any of our catering needs.

We've used most of the catering companies in Austin for one event or another and Word of Mouth tops my list as the all around best. Really good people with great food.

Leslie and his team are delightful. They catered our company Christmas Party, and everyone was raving about the food. The buffet setups were so beautiful it was almost a shame to mess them up, but I'm glad we did, because the food was out of this world. The Word of Mouth team was so pleasant and professional. I would highly recommend them!

Word of Mouth catered my wedding in November 2015 and I'm still hearing about how delicious and creative the food was. We worked with Alaina to put together the perfect menu; we wanted a hearty vegetarian wedding that meat eaters would love too, and she absolutely delivered! She really listened to us, much more than other catering companies we were considering. She stayed in our budget and integrated our feedback when we wanted to make changes. On the day of the wedding, the staff, led by Frank, was efficient, cheerful, and helpful all night. The attention to detail, like glasses of wine right after the ceremony, making sure my husband and I ate while we were going around saying hello to our guests, and moving chairs inside around the dance floor for the older folks to sit toward the end of the night, were special touches we loved. We provided our own alcohol and used Word of Mouth's bartenders. They were awesome too and everyone loved the cocktails they made. All around, I would highly recommend Word of Mouth Catering!

We recently hosted a party where we were required to use a preferred vendor by the venue. That never sits well with me but I must say that Word of Mouth did not disappoint. It did take some work on my part to get a proposal in the beginning but they turned things around and we ended up with a successful event with great food. On the day of the event, the servers were extremely helpful, offering to assist with things that didn't even concern food. We would use them again.

We did an in-person tasting at Word of Mouth and sampled their signature dessert---Sour Cream and Berries cake. This did not "sound" good to me (I generally don't care for fruit in my dessert) but with the first bite we knew we'd found our wedding cake. It was light, sweet but not overwhelmingly so, and just tasted...perfect. Alaina was easy to work with and the final product looked identical to the pictures we'd sent as a model. It was beautiful. The price was in range and competitive with other bakers. We were supposed to wait one year to eat our leftover wedding cake...and we lasted 3 days. That says it all, no?

Love Love Love this catering service. I live in AL and as I was planning my wedding in Oct 2010, Leslie was recommended to my family and I. From the moment we met I knew instantly that he and this company were right for my husband and I. Leslie understood my vision and idea so well, and once the big day came it was so awesome. Even through my layoff and my groom changing the menu and budget Leslie and WOM rolled through the punches. I can't say enough about WOM and the customer service. But Leslie is the heartbeat and it was more than a pleasure to work with him it was a BLESSING that I can't wait to do again. The Food WAS amazing! WOW! Leslie even made my cupcake wedding cake come true and the red velvet cupcakes and lemon cream filled cupcakes were a big hit at the wedding. Oh and the grooms cake, WOW the grooms triple chocolate cake it was so wonderful. Each slice was more amazing than the other. THANK YOU WOM,Thank you LESLIE! THANK YOU!

I have such a mixed review from my sisters wedding. As the maid of honor, I wanted to ensure her wedding was as quality as she had put the planning and expense into. She spared no expense when it came to food. The mac and cheese and beef that was served was exceptional, but the pad thai station served barely served half the guests. The bride, groom, and rest of the bridal party didn't even get any!! When I went to get some, the guy looked at me and just said "we ran out" and pretty much walked away, causing my poor mother to start crying, she wanted things to be smooth and taken care of. The food I DID get to taste was exceptional and there was so much left over, we ate it for days while my sister was on her honeymoon. Seemed odd there was so much of one and hardly any of the other when you are spending a TON of money for food. The late night breakfast tacos were just OK, but were fun! and the dessert was nice and beautifully displayed. Overall, it shouldn't be so much drama with food, but I guess that's all part of wedding stuff.

Word of Mouth is one of the best caterers in town. They have a stellar reputation in Austin with all of the event planning professionals and for good reason. Having worked with them as the Development Director at a local Austin theater, I enjoyed countless flawless events thanks to their superb service and outstanding gourmet food. When planning my own wedding, the selection of Word of Mouth as my caterer was easy. Sarah Porter was outstanding as my event planner. Her assistance with selection of an inventive and creative menu was fabulous and her attention to detail was phenomenal. Her extensive experience in overall planning helped create a perfect flow for the reception. We received glowing, rave reviews on the food which was artfully displayed and delicious. They also created our cake and it was stunningly beautiful and incredibly delicious. Last but not least, the service was really outstanding. The staff is well trained, helpful and exceptionally friendly which just made the entire reception so festive and lovely. Bravo! We would recommend this company without hesitation.
