World Famous HOTBOYS Chicken

This place is the main event for fried chicken! The vibes are vibing and the place just looks super cool! The staff is happy and nice! They have the awesome soda machine where you can pick and choose from a variety of sodas and mix and match. We ordered the mild five piece, chicken tenders and fries. The chicken easily pulls apart, which gives such an amazing bite of soft, tender chicken that is perfectly fried to a lovely crisp. They are also really big pieces, when we open the box we thought we accidentally ordered the 10 piece lol I will be back and will be door dashing this when I need my chicken fix! 👏

It was my first time going there. I really enjoyed it. I talked to shift lead at length. His name is James. He was very hospitable. Easy to talk with. A nice guy. While I was there, my coworkers piqued my interest in a little spicy food challenge. I included part of the video that was shot of me. The chicken tenders I ate were delicious & spicy! I also ate a menu item by the name of "Hoosier." It was delicious!

Best hot chicken sandwiches in Midtown. The spice, crunch, and taste of the Sandos make for a symphony of flavor I haven't quite found anywhere else. The service is also quick and courteous making any visit a pleasant one. Keep in mind it can get pretty packed with limited seating at this spot depending on when you go.

If you love flavorful hot chicken, this is a must-try spot! The chicken has amazing flavor and a great variety of heat levels, but be warned – it definitely runs hotter than most places. I’ve tried a few heat levels: • Medium – Perfect balance of kick and flavor. It had a nice burn but still very enjoyable. • Hot – Whew… this one is no joke! The heat creeps up on you and slows you down, but if you’re a spice lover, it’s a fun challenge. For comparison, I’d say Medium/Medium Hot here = Hot at Dave’s Hot Chicken (Roseville location). If you’re a hot chicken fan, this place is absolutely worth checking out – just know your spice limit before you order! 🌶️🍗

Best chicken sandwich I've had in the bay so far. Juicy, tender, spicy, packed with flavor. The bread was soft and not too thick. The sandwich was cooked to perfection. Every bite had chicken. Don't you hate when you have leftover bread at the end with no meat? Not here. Highly recommend.

We got a sandwich, fries, drink, and chicken & waffles for $48. The sandwich was superb, wish I had gotten it instead of the waffles haha. I would come back here for sure, cool place, but not affordable enough to eat often. They take spice seriously and the lowest level was plenty for me!

Chicken is juicy, packed with flavor, and the spice is perfect. I order a hot and a mild. Both perfect. Biggest chunk of meat I've ever had on a sandwich. Fries are perfectly seasoned and crispy. Will come here everytime I'm in town!

Came here spurt of the moment while at the hospital. Conveniently just a 3-4 minute drive from Sutter. This place took my order over the phone and food was ready within 15 minutes, and it WAS DELICIOUS. Best chicken Sando I've had , Sando was generous serving size with all the fixing in the sandwich , as well as different levels of heat to choose from. Definitely enough to fill you up. combo allows you any of the sides. And in went with the jambalaya rice definitely want more of it. Guap fries were fire, came with pieces of chicken that surprisingly crispy for being eaten 20 minutes after ordering plus being slathered in cheese. Fries alone were enough to fill me up so if you're looking for an entree, and love fries, the guap fries are the way to go. I didn't get a chance to try their Mac and cheese but my wife said It was the best Mac n cheese that'she's had . Overall I would definitely recommend everyone to try this place out.

I love world famous hotboys. I have yet to try another spicy chicken spot that is better than them. They've always been consistent with their quality. Their seasoning is perfect and I love the different spice levels. Their sauce is also perfect - not too sweet or tangy, it's just right. They also make the best Cole slaw I ever had, and they're also halal. Can't wait to come back again.

They don't miss!!! They're too good at what they do! Even leftovers in the air fryer a day later hits!!! My fave cheat meal spot. They even have a table where you can play games on. Love the vibe, love the food, and love the way the workers treat us! Parking is usually fine unless it's Friday, Saturday, or Sunday! We got the level right above mild but below medium. The flavor is there, the texture of the fried chicken is there, the fry seasoning is amazing. Can't ask for more at a place like this.

World Famous Hotboys is my go-to restaurant for the best chicken sandwich in Sacramento! Their sandwiches are consistently seasoned, the service is quick, and you always leave full. There are glowing reviews for the Mac and Cheese but I would say to skip on it. I've tried giving it a shot at least 3 times thinking it was just a bad batch but it consistently was super soft goop. The flavor is good but it was just the texture. I've alternated between the fries and slaw as well and they are always hot and delicious. Their ranch is unique and their secret sauce is also delicious to dip your fries in. There is no parking lot but plenty of street parking in downtown.

So fast and the food is amazing. The fries are so seasoned it almost feels like it's battered, they are amazing and the sauce is the best I've had, almost like a very thick thousand island dressing with an extra something to it.. The mild spice is a little spicy still but I like that. Estimated to be 6 minutes and it came out in about 2. Really chill environment, inside is very small but has a nice look. Everyone seems very friendly and I can't wait to come back.

Hotboys is super convenient when I can't figure out to eat and am not too picky especially if I'm around this infamous area. They have late hours also, which is why I stopped by for the very first time. I got the medium which was waaay too spicy for me. The next time would be mild, although I think Mild + would be the nice in between ideally. Coleslaw was alright, needed more substance like red onion or something to give it a kick.

Highly recommend this place, very fast service and the food was fresh and delicious! Just make sure you get the thigh sandwich instead of the tenders sandwich also I go with mild bc if not I wouldn't enjoy the heat. Anyways the vibe here is super cute, love how they decorated the place, sorry didn't get any pics.

Came here on a Sunday night and it was pretty empty. Got the Sando combo and subbed for Mac and cheese. I opted for mild plus and it was the perfect amount of spice for me! The sandwich was everything you want in a hot fried chicken sando- spicy, juicy, and crunchy. It was made fresh to order. Mac and cheese was not bad, tasted like it was made with pimento cheese. I would probably stick with fries. Area was kinda scary at night and I was here at 7:30pm. There were 2 homeless people that walked in and sat down. They didn't bother anyone but it didn't make for the most pleasant dining experience. I'd probably just get take out as the best option.

Just had an employee with their mouth full of food ignore me, and as I was standing at the terminal say a muffled mouth," pick up?". Leadership needs to watch their fucking cameras and have a deep understanding of what's going on in their establishment.. people's pockets are getting thin and this type of shit is growing far more unacceptable.

Tastiest spot for late night take out! I stopped by after midnight, and my partner and I ordered the tender sando combo with fries. Walking up, it was very loud with lots of people seated inside and out. The line was shoulder-to-shoulder, but the food speaks for itself! Surprisingly, our food came out quick despite how crowded it was. I ordered my chicken sando with mild spice and my partner ordered his with medium. Our sandos were delicious, and the sauce that they include on the side is incredible! Usually, I don't like condiments but this sauce is an exception. Given how hectic the walk-up experience was, I personally would prefer to DoorDash next time, but either way, I'm glad we were able to enjoy our late night fix!

I've eaten at a lot of good chicken places--enough to know that Hotboys is one of them. This was a place with great food for a good price and a super sick environment. The sandwich was very good. The chicken on it was big and tasty, and it was super tender. It was the easiest sandwich I ever ate--no mess, no tough chewing, just tender chicken. The fries were also good, and despite appearances, it was actually quite filling. The environment was super cool. There were paintings and graffiti all over the place, from the outside to the inside. There were retro video games that you could play set off to the side, and the whole place gave a bit of a retro vibe. It was a super fun atmosphere and it was complemented by the friendly workers. Hotboys had great food, great service, and a great environment--it doesn't get much better than that. 5 stars.

Great food and an urban cool vibe with indoor and outdoor dining. Large portions and serving a great chicken sandwich, prepared to a nice crispness and a fresh bun. Downtown parking can be challenging at times. However, this location has an adjacent paid parking lot across the street, and you can pay directly through your phone.

Food tasted great, portion sizes are decent, and the spice levels are easily customizable and diverse - you can literally order any spice level desired. I got a sando meal which came with a decently sized chicken sandwich (two tenders inside) with lots of fries and their sig. sauce

My family and I drove from Stockton to try this place out, and it was well worth the trip! The service was top-notch, and the staff was incredibly patient with us as it was our first time ordering. They even offered us a sample of their mac & cheese, which was delicious. A special shoutout to the kind server who gave my daughter a water cup, only for her to sneakily grab a soda instead. I apologized, and he was very understanding. We'll definitely be coming back again! Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food and excellent service.

Came to Sacramento for a work trip and had to eat here twice. The sandwich was flavorful and juicy along with the tenders. Customer service was by far the best. Most welcoming and hardworking staff. Best experience during the trip. HIGHLY recommend stopping by. Will visit again!!

Hotboys is my go-to spot for chicken sandwiches and fries. Their chicken is perfectly crispy and the sauce is so delicious! I love how big their portion of fries are, which are nicely seasoned and crunchy. My partner usually orders the sandwich meal with fries, while I get the sandwich alone. We share the fries and it's the right amount for both of us. We always order takeout and our orders are always ready so quickly. We haven't eaten at the actual location, but our friends who have been tell us their music selection is great and it's a fun atmosphere. We will definitely have to visit and eat onsite next time!

Let me tell you what. I miss the south. I go. However, the food here will bring back all of the nostalgic memories. The team works super quick but does not alter the quality. Extremely friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. Highly recommend. I cannot wait to return.

The Chicken is good quality and the fries are seasoned well, just be aware that there's is a night time menus i was unaware and wanted the chicken nuggets and the loaded fries but they were unavailable from the night time menu. It's decorated creatively and has a unique vibe. i would come back.

Hot Boys is my go-to spot for chicken sandwiches and fries. The chicken is perfectly crispy and flavorful. Their sauce is the perfect kick to every bite. The fries are top tier as well; it has a good crisp too and the seasoning is delicious. I haven't eaten at the actual restaurant yet, but my friends say the atmosphere is lively and they play good music. Their takeout service is always fast, which I really appreciate. Hot Boys never disappoints, highly recommend this spot if you're visiting Sacramento!

Got to to try their mac n cheese!!!!! Location: The restaurant itself is pretty small. Very limited seating and only one bathroom stall. I do like the vibe of the restaurant. I think the art on the walls is really cool. They do not have a parking lot so you will need to find street parking. Food: I thought their chicken sandwich was really good. Packed with flavor and the chicken was not dry at all. The coleslaw and pickles were a perfect touch to the sandwich. They have crinkle cut fries with seasoning that is also good. However, I think the best side dish they have is their mac n cheese. Their mac n cheese still has me thinking about it. Service: The food came out really fast the at cashier was super friendly. Overall, I would definitely recommend people to try this place if they have not.

Fun Vibes & Yummy Hot Chicken! My partner doesn't love spicy food so we enjoyed a "training wheels" spice level which was very mild but still flavorful... there was a generous portion of crispy fries served with the meal deal. Friendly, hard working crew serving lots of orders quickly!

Although the location was a bit scary at night, this place was truly so yummy. There was a bit of a line but service was quick and efficient! I ordered the Mild Chicken Tender Sandwich and the Medium (Plus) Tender Combo. The Mild Chicken Tender Sandwich was pretty good. The tenders stayed juicy and crispy in the sandwich. The buns were soft and flavorful, but also held up the sandwich really well. There was also a right amount of pickles and slaw. The Medium (Plus) Tender Combo was so flavorful and that spice level does not lie. It definitely had a kick to it. The combination of slightly sweet and truly spicy on the crunchy exterior was amazing and the chicken was perfectly juicy and tender on the inside. The fries and toast were not anything special, but really delicious alongside their sauce and a great addition to the really flavorful chicken.

This place is "A" vibe in sac-town Food: basic Popeyes with a NOLA vibe Ambiance: Sac town is like SoCal, SF, NYC, or LA...10/10 if you know where to go, who to be with, and when's the hang (Friday and Saturday) Otherwise it's a wild card... if you can hang with your neighborhood hobo and have a concealed carry then what's not to love about a retro gaming arcade with rando meth heads asking college kids for money?

No complaints from this visit. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, tender, and amazingly delicious. I tried the chicken etouffee with white rice and it was really good. I will definitely visit again in the very near future to satisfy my fried chicken cravings.

I always try to come here when visiting Sacramento for a night out. Even if I don't want a chicken sandwich, I get something a little less heavy in the chicken étouffée. Their chicken is well cooked and their fries (while frozen) don't taste like it. Definitely a great late night snack and always hits the spot before or after a night out in that area. It's within walking distance too of a lot of bars/clubs and stays open until 3 AM! The service seems really personable even though they're always so busy because of their location. The restaurant is pretty small but I love how I can play Galaga for free! I wish I had a lot more pictures but I always eat it all before I can take some because it's so good.

Hot boys offer their chicken at different spice levels. As a lover of spice I enjoy that they actually offer hot chicken. As silly as it is so many chicken spots advertise spice that they don't have. Other than that the food itself was average. The spice is there the flavor misses the mark for me. The service is fine enough. The times I've been, the cashier wasn't too friendly. But I'm ok with that. I love the decor it's fun and bright. Even tho the flavor wasn't my favorite I still recommend giving it a shot!

Ok, I loved this little place and it just happens that they also have one near me and I didn't even put 2 and 2 together. I got sandwich and although it was good I was bummed that it only came with one chicken strip. My fiancé got the strips and they gave him 3 for relatively the same price. The ambiance was cool. Very hip hop and awesome 90s music. The staff was super friendly, and appreciated the customer service.

Walked in here on a Friday night to find a bunch of young kids behind the counter blasting local music and having fun. It really brought me back to when I was a kid and we were able to make any place a hang out spot. Would I actually dine in? Probably not, but I'd def come back for the food. If I was 10 years younger, this location would be an awesome pre/post night-out joint. The food here is consistent with the Oakland location. Big ass chicken pieces that'll satisfy your craving. I appreciate the girl behind the counter triple checking that I actually wanted the hot seasoning. It's not for the faint of heart, but damn it burns so good.

Absolutely incredible! I was looking for a real good chicken sandwich with levels of heat. This place has it and it's DELICIOUS. The breading on the chicken is so crispy and light while the chicken is thick and juicy. The sandwiches are huge. Fries are good. Mac and cheese is good. But, their Bonuts are TO DIE FOR! Giving Disneyland churro vibes! 10 10 10 across the board here. Ordered online and was ready when I got there. Super nice and attentive staff.

Mild, medium or hot? I chose the mild "plus". This fast casual restaurant looks run down when you walk or drive by it, but that is just the aesthetic. The storefront is covered with artistic graffiti, and while the street might not be in the best condition, the inside is a carefully run chicken restaurant. Get in line and be prepared to wait a little because the chicken is made fresh to order. For me, this is the major selling point, fresh fried Chicken so hot it steams. There are a variety of meal combos available with sides, and I ordered the tenders which were very large, freshly made and came with slaw. The spice level, mild + had just enough of a tingly kick to suit my palate. However I do know they have super hot blends for those who love em' hoootttttttt. The tenders were piping hot and very crispy. I love most things fried, I just do not indulge very often, so this was a treat as the batter was light and not overly coated. The slaw was little to oily for me, however it does the trick to cut the spice. It also came with a slice of white bread which seemed to be a conduit to sop up the grease. I am not hating on the bread, I think most people will enjoy this extra side. On the side of the restaurant there is an area with tables and chairs, you can eat in or take to go, and they serve soft drinks. Tbh I'm here for the chicken, so everything else is just a side note. Ambiance and vibe is alright, but come for the star of the menu, the hot chicken.

Looking for a bite to eat before catching a show downtown, my dad and I came to World Famous Hotboys for dinner. This is a spot that we have driven by 1000 times but have not had the opportunity to try it. The service was fast and friendly, and I appreciated that they offered my dad a sample of their étouffée before he ordered it. Since it was my first time there, I opted to order the mild plus spice level for my chicken tender meal. The chicken tenders were massive and so juicy. As for the spice, the mild plus was plenty spicy for me and I think I would have sincerely regretted getting medium. I am not a wimp when it comes to spice, but this hot chicken was hotter than most that I have tried in Sacramento. The fries could have used a little extra crisping, but that is just me being critical. My dad's étouffée had great flavor. All in all, this is definitely a top hot chicken spot in Sacramento for the price, spice, and portion.

The chicken here is always quality and delicious. I personally love the flavor of the "training wheels" even though I know the idea is to burn your mouth with the hot chicken. I also LOVE the slaw. They have an area to eat outside but it's not covered so it gets hot in the sun. They do have seating inside now too so that's great. Service is always friendly and quick.

Hotboys has the best chicken sandwich in Sacramento in my opinion. The flavor and crunch of the chicken is unmatched especially with the buttery buns they serve the sandwiches on. Love the second hottest option in sauces, it is not only spicy it has such amazing flavor! We crave the sandwiches and tenders so often because they're just that good. Service towards the end of the night can be a bit slow, but nothing too crazy. Ambiance is loud and busy the times I have went in. They also offer delivery through doordash which is my preferred way to order.

We were Midtown on the 4th and wanted to try Morning Fork but they were closed as were many establishments today, but this place was opened and thought we would try them out. First of all I am a waffle snob, I don't like most waffles at coffee shops because they are not good. Guy at counter recommended to go with medium heat for the chicken, thought maybe his taste buds have acquired some tolerance so I went with Mild Plus. Chicken and waffles The waffles were delicious. They use a malt batter and add other ingredients for a slight savory flavor. Comes with honey butter. Chicken Mild Plus Moist and just the right amount of heat. Will go with Medium next time. Customer service excellent. They heated the syrup for me. Gotta have hot syrup with waffles or pancakes. Ambiance They have an old school video game that u can play Pac Man.

Ordered a southern chicken sando with an etouffee on the side through door dash. Chicken sando was ok. It might have been better if I ordered it spicier. I do love that the chicken is made with thigh meat instead of breast. The etouffee was amazing! I wish I had ordered a larger size. If I'm ever in the area again I'll definitely consider ordering from here again. Because i did an online order I have no comment on staff, but delivery was fast.

Love this place, will be my must have on my visits to Sacramento. Had the medium plus. Had just the right amount of kick and the flavor was amazing. The Cole slaw was off the hook. They even had a Super Nintendo ton lay as I waited for my order!

We found this spot trying to find good late night food. It's very busy and popular. We had two Sandos and woooow great juicy flavored chicken. By far the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. We will be back! I was too excited to eat it and didn't get a picture.

Woooaahh! All I can say best chicken sando I had in a long time. Ordered mild spice and it was great bun to meat ratio was definitely out of proportion haha Be sure to ask for extra sauce very tangy! Only con was the breading too thick.

Food and service were mad wack. The chicken sandwich i ordered had a ton of breading, I get that happens a bit but this wasnt like 1-2 bites of just breading we are talking like 6 bites at least were all breading. I was mainly sad about this not mad because i have been to other hotboys shops and they were consistently fire. I get the same thing most of the time so that was a big letdown. Didnt taste as good as either idk why. The kicker here was the unprofessionalism of the staff. They were courteous when you spoke to them but their actions said they did not care at all. I waited with no greeting to order. The employee watched me standing there didnt say anything he was just talking to the chef. Finally came over placed order. Chef cooks food in 2minutes puts my order on the counter. Doesn't say anything to anyone. The worker is now on the side of the kitchen eating his lunch while working slurping noodles. He walks past my order and goes an helps just arrived customers. Some other jabroni is folding boxes also sitting where the noodles are. I finally get up like yo is this order my food. I go to the section where my food is and look for an identifier an the other guy finally gets up off his @$$ probably because i am not supposed to be in that area and starts bagging orders mind you mine last. Which had already been sitting there for at least 5minutes. He then hands me my order after confirming that it is indeed mine. Annnn no napkins. Not trying to be a karen here but i spent like 21$ for a mid chicken sandwhich and mac and cheese. I could have went to in-n-out spent less money, received higher quality food and service while ordering more food for the price. Super disappointing. Hot Boys in Sac step it up. Your other shops are a 10 yall are a 4.

I'm not a chicken tender person but for Hotboys I am! I know canes are not comparable to this, but this is just 10x better! The seasonings are always enough! The staff is friendly and funny too so bomb and good

Stopped by World Famous Hotboys after hearing the hype, and I'm glad I did! Service is quick and efficient, and it was a beautiful day outside so I took advantage of their outdoor seating. It's always a little difficult to know what spice level to choose for a hot chicken shop, so I went for the mild plus sando combo. The food was piping hot when it arrived, and the chicken was crisp and juicy. It was just spicy enough to get my mouth watering a bit, and the coleslaw helped counter the heat just enough to enjoy the sandwich. The side sauce they served was delicious with the fries! My only consideration was that my fries were on the soggier/softer side, but were well seasoned. Definitely a great spot to check out if you're craving hot chicken!
