We enjoyed the solid sandos, large and tasty, with a huge chicken thigh, spiced to our liking. The bread is a soft bun, like brioche. Although it complements the chicken, it falls apart from the sauciness. You’re left with fingertips of bread holding slippery meat covered in slaw and sauce at the end. The cup of slaw is meh. Overall, nice lunch spot. This spot is good for kids because there are plenty of retro games for them to play after they eat their food. They also have some nice table seating outside.

Google
This place was next level amazing, the food, service and atmosphere was perfect. I ordered the #1 to go and loved it. Check this place out when in town and don’t forget to try the boughnut. 💥

While on the search for dairy free ice cream from my gym in Lafayette my son and I stumbled up on this gem with bright colors and old school games systems, he absolutely loved it. The thing is we got our ice cream and walked in to check the place out and wanted to order drinks and was greeted with welcoming and warm energy. We ended up stay way longer. Thank you guys for the nostalgia for me and the new experience for me and my boy. Much Gratitude!

Google
The best chicken and waffles I’ve ever tried! (I grew up in ATL) the chicken is so juicy and the crunch is immaculate. Their waffle batter is perfection and wish I could have it daily! Lol I love the nostalgic retro vibes and the staff is very friendly and welcoming, even on their busy/packed days which I appreciate and will keep me returning every time!

Google
Amazing chicken! Their heat levels are a bit intense. Have Retro games set up for people to play while they wait which is nice surprise.

Google
I heard this place was good but after I ate here I would say that it was great! #1 Chicken thigh sando was delicious and hot. The greens were a perfect side. I even enjoyed Mario kart on their retro Nintendo consoles!

Google
Great service and definitely one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. This was at the Walmut Creek location Must try

Google
Absolutely phenomenal chicken sandwich!!! First and foremost, I asked for the Hot spice on my chicken sandwich and the guy/host/server smiled and walks away. I knew he was going to get me that hot sauce so I can try it and not only did he come back with the sauce but he came back with a nice piece of chicken, hot style just for me to try so that I knew what I was getting myself into. That chicken is HOTT! This place don’t play with their spice levels!!! Not only was it spicy as hell but it was crazy juicy and flavorful! Not just hot to be hot! It tasted soooo good buuuuuuuuttttttt I had to retract my hot order and get medium hot. I love spicy but I wasn’t tryna put myself through that at the moment. The sandwich was so huge that it filled me up and I didn’t have enough space to finish the fries! That rarely happens but this place did it! The fries are also hella good. Crispy, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles full order which is two waffles and two tenders. The waffles covered the plate and the tenders were humongous!! The waffles were perfectly cooked and delicious! Highly recommend!!! Chicken is on point! Fries on point! Service on point! And the ambiance and decor are dope! Bay slaps playing mixed with some classic old school raps. Do yourself a favor if you like chicken sandwiches and go here! Edit: The El Guapo is CRAAAAZZZZYYYY GOOOOOD!!! Edit: The Etoufee as a side OSS a great serving size and pairs well with the sandwiches

Yelp
The food was delicious and nice and spicy. the service couldn't have been better. V took very good care of us and made us feel comfortable and welcome. we will be coming back to this location again and again.

Yelp
Street parking took some time to find. First time trying this place and got the Bone-In Dark Meat with medium level spice which was spicier than Dave's hot chicken's Medium hot. Came with a slice of bread and pickles. The pickles and bread were alright. Chicken was very crispy, juicy and tasty!! I like spicy and the medium was definitely spicy! No easy of eating way of eating this. Had to get my hands dirty. My to-go season fries was a big amount. Had lots of leftover but a day later they were still tasty reheated on a pan with eggs. Ordered online for take-out and it was ready by the time I got there.

Vanika L.

Yelp
The service here was top tier. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted, seated and served with a smile. So I would take nothing away from the staff. The ambiance matches the name: vibrant, nostalgic and laid back. The booths are comfortable and roomy. Now for the food. The fries are good, not outstanding but worth ordering. The Mac N' Cheese had a great flavor, but was slightly more creamy than I would like. The sandwiches were underwhelming. The chicken was cooked nice, but too big and lacked flavor. I can't say that I would order them again. The nice surprise was the coleslaw, it also lacked some flavor but was a refreshing balance to the other items. The staff and ambiance are what made me give the stars I did, but unfortunately I can't say I would be back for the food.

Yelp
I ordered the chicken sandwich combo with french fries. The sandwich was delicious! I got the mild chicken, which had a nice kick but wasn't too spicy or overwhelming. The chicken -- which was a huge piece -- was very juicy, and the slaw and sauce were both really good. I also added extra pickles. It was a well-balanced (and messy!) sandwich! My only complaint was that the french fries weren't anything too special, though it was a pretty generous portion. The seasoning was a little too sweet, and the fries did not stay warm for very long. We took our order to go and ate it about 15 minutes later -- the chicken sandwich was still perfectly hot and fresh, but the fries got cold pretty quickly. All in all I'm really glad I tried Hotboys, and I'd definitely recommend the chicken if hot chicken is your thing! I'd maybe pass on the fries unless you're eating them immediately.

Deni B.

Yelp
So tasty, juicy, and better than Dave's! I am so glad I got to try World Famous Hotboys when I was in town. I was skeptical at first when I saw their spice scale, because I like my chicken to be spicy so I felt conflicted when it seemed like the best choice for me was Mild+! Medium is usually my go to but it seemed like it would be overkill, and I was happy with my choice. Mild+ is not remotely mild, it was the perfect kick and I had to drink a whole bottle of water to get through it. I ordered the two tender combo with fries and a side of Cole slaw. The tenders were hot (both in temperature and flavor!), the cole slaw was really refreshing between bites, and the fries were decent before they got cold. The fries have the same seasoning as the mild tenders I believe. One thing I don't love about this approach is the seasoning has sugar in it. I get it when it's on the chicken and helps cut the spice, but I don't like when my fries taste sweet. I suppose you could ask for the fries without the seasoning. The sauce it comes with is great, but not groundbreaking. I paid an extra dollar for the ranch, but I never received it.

Yelp
The staff here especially Diego helped us out tremendously they were almost closed and they treated us with such respect and made the restaurant experience unlike anything else all the staff deserve a raise for always treating customers so well GREAT JOB!! Will definitely come back!!!

Yelp
Ooohh, come and holla. This place with get you rockin jumping and oohing. Today I learned there are more than just the Oakland location. Hot boys continues to be consistent with their delicious, juicy, spicy chicken on a fluffy soft potato bun and their sauce. Best chicken sando of the BAY I usually get the regular sando and stepped it up with getting their special El Guapo. Same chicken sando but topped off with melted PIMENTO CHEESE. Oh it gets so much better than the original. Also their sides are delicious. You literally can't go wrong. I def would recommend their Mac n cheese. It's velvety, cheesy and has bits of red bell peppers in there; Monterey Jack cheddar Mac n cheese? Also shout out to the manager for her outstanding customer service and energy. She made me feel at home and was attentive. Muchos Gracias, dios te bendiga

Yelp
This literally might be the best Chicken Sandwich in the bay... We went here yesterday on a whim for lunch and when I got here I was blown away. 90's Hip Hop and R&B is playing while inside there is a line of video consoles. N64, Nintendo, Sega Genesis and more. And the controllers actually looked clean too...This seems too good to be true. But the reality is I already have ate here before. I just wanted my wifey to find out good this place is. She loves her chicken sandwichs and Hotboys doesn't disappoint. I love how big the chicken is in the actual sandwich. I also feel that they put the perfect amount of sauce with slaw and pickles. I wouldn't change a thing in this sandwich. It's just so damn good. One last thing to note is that they like it spicy here. I have tried as far as Medium and it was supppppper spicy. But still spicy enough where I could enjoy the flavors. Unless you hate your life, I don't recommend going past Medium and I would consider myself pretty good with spicy food. Even yesterday I only did Mild+ because heart burn past your 30's sucks man. It really does...

Lauren S.

Yelp
Got the chicken and waffles. The waffles were really good! 10/10... the chicken was a 7.8/10 for me. If you like chicken with a dry rub rather than sauce, it's for you. The service was great! The hostess even let my cousin sample a tender before she ordered. Ambiance is dope...has a 90s feel to it.

Eric S.

Yelp
Over priced, overrated...................................................................................................................................................................................... Not much else to say honestly. It's $14.85 for a chicken sandwich, $27.50 for 5 chicken tenders... y'all, come on now. Sure the people are going to treat you nicely, could you imagine if they didn't at these prices?

Douglas M.

Yelp
I'm back trying a few more things, love the food! Food notes: Bone-in Combo Dark (Stars 4.5 $15) I got the Mild+, that's all I can handle. It takes ~20 mins, but worth the wait. It's made fresh, with plenty of awesome crust. The crust seems double thick, like it was coated twice. The crust has a hint of honey, so good. The chicken was perfectly cooked. It was serviced with a slice of bread, pickles and the house (pink) sauce. The pickles were good, had some with the chicken, but the pink sauce was not for me, to sweet. Not sure why they serve it with bone in, not really needed. The bread was good to wipe up all the crispy crust bits that feel off. Side Etouffee (4 Stars $2) Plenty of soft chicken pieces in the sauce. The rice was cooked perfectly. The sauce had good flavor, good stuff! Angry Bonuts (Stars 4 $5) I got it Mild, I meant to get Mild+, so the sweet heat didn't come through that much but was still good. The fresh made Bonuts were great, with plenty (way too much) cinnamon sugar topping. Until next time... Next time try: French fries dish Breakfast dishes Chicken in waffles

Yelp
Always a 10/10 here! This location is in downtown Walnut Creek and there is street or garage parking. The restaurant itself is decorated really fun and there are Nintendos Inside at the bar for you to play at. I love a good chicken sandwich and hotboys delivers! Their spice levels are all accurate and their sandwiches are all amazingly juicy and flavorful. My coworkers were all super impressed with the sandwiches and tenders here! Service here was top notch! They allow you to sample to spice level first before committing.

Marcella H.

Yelp
I've been to Hotboys in Oakland and Sacramento, but I think Walnut Creek is my favorite location! The inside has plenty of seating and retro decorations, you sit at a booth and someone comes to take your order. If you have a lower spice tolerance, I say get a spice level lower than you usually get because the flavors do run a bit hotter than you'll expect (in my opinion). That being said, I usually order the medium level and find it's the perfect amount of spice! Can't go wrong with The Sando combo with fries. Fries are fresh and well seasoned, chicken is juicy, sauce is just right. Dare I say, this place serves some of the best hot chicken in the Bay Area. 5/5 would recommend!

Shabir D.

Yelp
The food here is great, and halal! I usually order a sando (thigh) and some sort of fries on the side. Both the guap fries and loaded fries are really good, I would say the guap fries are more to my liking because of the cheese on top. The sandwich is super flavorful with sweet spices. The pickles here are great as well. The service is great here as well with friendly staff. The ambiance is nice as well in the walnut creek location with booths and retro videogames set up for customers to play.

Yelp
I've been so curious about this place ever since I heard about it opening. Beautiful & welcoming exterior. I finally got the chance to try it today. I ordered online (best thing to do!!!) I specifically wanted my order to be ready noon-12:10pm (which you can choose this option when ordering online). By the time I received my confirmation email, they said it would be ready 12:20-12:25pm. For anyone who is on a time crunch & ordering online, definitely order it a bit earlier than when you plan to pick it up. I was a bit on a time crunch but it still ended up working out for me. Picking up the order was quick. I decided to sit down outside for a few minutes to try the food. I ordered the chicken nuggets (no spice), a side of fries, & 2 of the special sauce. Oh my goodness. The servings were HUUUUGE. Definitely enough for two. They even gave me extra sauce which was really nice of them. The chicken nuggets were so flavorful and the special sauce truly added to it. The fries had been perfectly seasoned. Also I am a sucker for crinkle cut fries. Though since it was packaged in a paper bag, the fries lost its crispness. 9/10 would recommend. Will definitely be coming back to try the Guap fries & the sandwich.

Tina H.

Yelp
Right when we walked in, we were sat down and our order was taken at our table. The staff were amazing! Loved how there were old school game boys near the counter, makes this restaurant so unique! I got the #1 sando meal with thigh meat. Chicken was moist, loved the potato bread. Personally, I'm not a big dry rub girl and I felt like it was leaning more towards dry rub for me, but I still enjoyed the flavors a lot! Always a fan of crinkle fries, so that was my favorite part with their house made sauce. Still recommend this place for those who like a dry rub chicken meal.

Razaa A.

Yelp
100% halal chicken, which is great for those with dietary restrictions! I've mainly had food from the Oakland location but had to do a review of this location after having one of the best items I've ever had. I've ordered from here several times and gotten my usual Guap Fries that I get in Oakland and it's so nice that you can't tell a difference between locations. So many places, even if not franchised, have a huge variance between locations but not Hot Boys. Well yesterday, I had the breakfast burrito and it was EASILY the best breakfast burrito with spicy chicken that I've ever had. It's not even close. The burrito is huge, and has the exact tender and juicy chicken thighs from the sando and other dishes but in the burrito. They have a few new menu items that I've tasted as well, like the baked potato. I love they are adding more menu items, but this is hands down one of my favorite. I'm so excited they opened another Bay Area location in Hayward as well. If you haven't had food from Hot Boys, you're really missing out. Their ordering process is super easy, I love ordering to-go but then eating it at the restaurant so I don't have a wait. The vibes inside are always great with sports on, music playing, unique interior design, etc. I hope they never franchise, although I can imagine they may want to at some point, because I fear franchising will really make their quality go down.

Ryan H.

Yelp
Finally went to Hot Boys for the first time today. Food was okay, nothing that blew my mind with flavor. Service was average for takeout, nothing special that stands out. The feel inside the restaurant is cool, relaxed atmosphere that's not overwhelming

Catherine B.

Yelp
Yummy fried chicken spot in downtown WC! The portions here are big. We've ordered the chicken and waffles, chicken sando, and chicken tenders and the takeout box is always so full. Our faves are the sando and chicken and waffles! The waffle is cornmeal and it's sooo good with the honey butter. The chicken is always pretty tender but I prefer the sando over strips. The bonuts are insane lol. Biscuit-donut texture and fried to perfection with cinnamon sugar. They come hot and melt in your mouth!

Andrew A.

Yelp
I stopped to pick up something for my wife, and it was great. For a Monday night, it wasn't overly crowded. There was plenty sitting in the outdoor space. When I'm in the region, this is where I always go.

Frances L.

Yelp
Retro diner serving hot chicken in the middle of downtown Walnut Cteek. Giant mural outside with some patio seating. Inside has booths, bar stools at the counter and flags hanging from the walls. The lights cast a blue hue in the restaurant. A waiter took our order and our food came out quickly. My medium spicy tenders were fantastic! The chicken was well seasoned, tender and juicy. I enjoyed the crispy thin batter. Medium is spicy and I would not order any spicier. My husband enjoyed his chicken and waffles. My son had the Sando and it was delicious too. The spicy chicken with the coleslaw and pickles were a great combo. Great place for hot chicken. Orders can be placed online.

Serenity L.

Yelp
I finally got to try this location. It was pretty fast service. I wasn't a fan of our waiter since he was a bit dismissive. Aside from that, the food was really good and it hit the spot. I ordered the #1 which was the Sando Meal. I got Hot spice level and it was perfect amount of kick for me! I absolutely LOVEDDD it. The fries were also amazing especially dipped in their sauce. I couldn't have asked for a better lunch. Note: they even have old school games inside. So cool !

Andrew S.

Yelp
The spicy chicken sandwich is a standout--it's packed with flavor and has just the right amount of heat. The fries are crispy and delicious, and the coleslaw adds a nice, refreshing contrast. Highly recommend getting extra MONEY SAUCE for your fries and sando! The ambiance is casual and welcoming, perfect for a quick bite or a casual meal with friends. Sometimes I like to get tater tots instead of the fries! Think twice about trying the Hot spicy level which could leave you in tears, beware!

Maria W.

Yelp
I've got to come here again! Here's my breakdown: Ambiance: Tons of blue and red lights, banners, and flags. Very themed, and very vibrant. Diner vibes, with booths and a counter. Service: super fast, seated immediately, payment is taken right at the table after you order. Pretty hands-off, which was nice. Food: Incredible. I got the Sando Meal; the chicken (a juicy thigh filet) was crispy and well fried, the sauce was saucin', and the side of mac n' cheeze was uniquely tasty (it had a roasted peppery taste, and was thick and rich and creamy). I would 100% reorder this combination.

Rose L.

Yelp
Very oily but solid fried chicken in the Walnut Creek area. Got the loco moco with white gravy, mild, and rice with an over easy egg. The gravy tasted very flavorful, but it definitely needed vegetables for me. Next time: chicken and waffles!

Duke S.

Yelp
Best chicken and waffles I've ever had. Medium heat brings out the sweetness of the butter and syrup. The only thing I would say: please add an option for real maple syrup. To pour corn syrup on this masterpiece is sub-optimal.

Nadav M.

Yelp
The aesthetic was the winner for me. Gets my attention every time. It's the colour for me. Went in around lunch time on a Saturday and the place was not busy at all. I went with the Sando+any side. I went with the étouffée side. Took 10 minutes for my order. It was handed to me and thanked me for being a guest. My spice level was a medium but for me I felt it was a bit too spicy and I like spicy. I enjoy the powder around the chicken. Just as good and great as the Oakland location. Packaging is great and neat. Their online service works great. Expensive but hella good. Will keep coming as well as the other location if craving arises.

Pianti M.

Yelp
Always love the food (the chicken tender and Sando meal) the server (Juan) is very accommodating

Johanna C.

Yelp
It was our first time here as my son insisted & he never failed- as he said, "you can never go wrong with the food from the south". We ordered a lot again, their loco moco has good gravy, dark meat in mild plus is so yummy & very buttery waffle! Every flavor complements each other. Service is so good, we were seated immediately since there is enough tables for everyone. They have a very cool aesthetic inside rhe restaurant & the server was so helpful.

Steven T.

Yelp
Very pleased with the sandwiches and other food we got from World Famous Hotboys. Reading other recommendations, we ordered online so it was very easy to quickly stop by and pick up our order which was handed over with a quick and efficient smile. The place looked really interesting as well.... kindof a wild decor, would be happy to visit again in the future when we have more time for a sit-down. The sandwiches were on-point, though I'll admit I'm not a fan of chicken thigh meat in general so our orders were mostly for the chicken tender sandwiches which use breast meat (very tasty and tender). I also tried the chicken and waffles, very good. Everyone in my fam enjoyed their order. Recommend them for sure!

Ashley M.

Yelp
Every time I come to the east bay (I'm from Fresno) this is a must stop! I always go with the breakfast burrito. This thing is massive. It can feed me for two meals. It's about $15 plus tax. So worth it. It's located in downtown Walnut Creek. The only downside is parking. Street parking. Place is kinda small inside but very cool atmosphere. They have outdoor seating. A couple tables. I'd suggest ordering online before you get there.

Doug Y.

Yelp
Interesting setup. They seat you but its not really a sitdown restaurant. The servers are really nice and help you with anything you need. Definitely don't get too spicy. I had mild and my mouth was burning! They have some old 90s video games setup and you can play for however long you want. Definitely a younger vibe. Its close to $20 so I'd only eat here every once in a while. I'd say it was good but not the best chicken sandwich I've ever had.

Trevor M.

Yelp
I had an absolute blast chatting it up with the best staff I've ever met (Vianey to be specific). Food came out very fast and was amazing as always. Would highly recommend!

Eryn M.

Yelp
We were mindblown when we went the first time. We didn't know that a chicken sandwich can be that amazing. So we decided to come back and again, it tasted just like the first time. We've never had a chicken sandwich as amazing as this place! It's crispy, juicy.. just straight up delicious! Food here smacks haha. Their Mac and cheese were also soooo creamy and delicious! It's definitely our fav side! They offer white rice for a side as well, not a lot of places do that so that's a plus! We also had their breakfast burrito and it's definitely one of the best burrito we've had so far. However, the Oakland location don't offer this so it makes this location a little bit better. Haha Service here is also very efficient. Their menu is very overwhelming if it's your first time but their staff were very helpful in recommending what to get, spice level etc. Another thing that was so cool was that they have those old school video games. Literally such a cool idea and gives the place a 90s retro ambiance.

Steffan A.

Yelp
One of the best chicken sandos I've had. Nia, the server, was awesome. She provided my fam with some samples of what Medium spice would taste like (mind you this was basically half a chicken tender, something you'd see a restaurant charge $1 for) and fries for the kids to make sure they'd like the seasoning on it. She made suggestions since it was our first time here and made sure that we knew what we were ordering. Very patient with us while we ordered. She's definitely a value-add to the restaurant! I ordered a Mild Sando Combo which was perfect because I don't typically eat 'spicy' food and this wasn't spicy at all. True to the description, sweet and spicy and the coleslaw in the sando cooled off whatever heat would come from the spices. The Bonuts in the B&G was quite literally if a Biscuit and a Donut had a baby. I used the leftover gravy to dip my fries in it . My wife and cousin ordered the Medium spice Sando and plan to get something hotter next time cuz they LOVE spicy food. The restaurant as a whole has a cool, retro vibe to it. They have different gaming stations -- A PLAYSTATION 1 WITH CRASH BANDICOOT... MY CHILDHOOD. And the ceiling is flooded with different country soccer flags. Will be back soon

Avey S.

Yelp
Damn. I don't know what they put in that waffle but it was so good. Every single bite had me ascending. And the chicken tenders that came with it were tender fr I could barely pick them up without it falling apart. I already know the guap fries gonna hit every time. I personally go lighter on the cheese just cuz I can enjoy the chicken more that way. If you like old school games like super mario on the Nintendo 64, sit at the bar. I was over here locked in while the server was tryna take my order (sorry). The oakland location doesn't do indoor seating anymore so this was a real nice trip to make. I've had howlin rays, Dave's, and other chicken places around Cali but this is the best and has yet to be beat. If you in East bay be sure to stop by a hot boys location!

Randolph V.

Yelp
World Famous Hotboys exceeded my expectations, and the star of the show was undoubtedly the Sando chicken sandwich meal. Opting for the mild version, the chicken was an absolute delight - juicy and flavorful with the dry rub generously coating every bite. The freshness of the cold slaw added a perfect crunch, complementing the succulent chicken. What truly elevated the experience was our server, Nia. Her knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for the menu made the dining experience even more enjoyable. It's clear she takes pride in her work, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the place. Speaking of atmosphere, World Famous Hotboys hits the nostalgia sweet spot with its 90s retro vibe. The old-school game systems and games, coupled with 90s music, create a lively and vibrant ambiance that takes you back in time. The efficiency in seating and serving was another standout, making it a fantastic dining experience from start to finish.

Yelp
FOOD 10/10 Delicious! Everything came out fresh and hot. I ordered the tender meal and can't do spice so the Southern style was perfect. The fries are crispy and go great with the sauce that came with the meal. AMBIANCE & SERVICE 10/10 This place is a vibe. Great music and service. The staff is welcoming and the true definition of southern hospitality.

Salee A.

Yelp
Love that it's halal. The food is always amazing and the customer service is great too.

Ali I.

Yelp
Alison and vianey are amazing waitresses and manager they are so polite and friendly. I would definitely recommend hot boys !!!

Jenn V.

Yelp
Cool spot in downtown Walnut Creek. We were lucky and able to snag some street parking nearby but there are also parking garages in the area. Place was pretty busy for a Friday night!! There are some booths and counter spots inside and some tables outside. By the counter spots, they had some old school gaming consoles - Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo and PlayStation. Pretty cool touch! Chicken tender sando was the perfect size for me. It's a little smaller than the regular chicken sando which comes with the full size fillet. I went with mild spice and it was just right. Maybe next time I'll try medium and work my way up! The slaw, pickles and sauce went perfectly with the chicken and the seasoning on the crinkle cut fries was just right too. Lastly the great customer service here went a long way! The line to order was out the door and there were constantly people waiting on booths, but the employees here were so friendly and attentive and kept things moving along so smoothly.

Anthony P.

Yelp
This is going to be a simple review- I fell in love with a chicken sandwich. Its mild spice, pickles and slaw were perfection in every bite. Accompanied by a spicy pimento Mac n Chz and a slightly sweet collard greens with just the right kick. I'm dreaming of the moment we will meet again. The service was also top notch and they have old school video games. Hot Boys- you complete me.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Amazing! Great! Awesome! Perfect! So much flavor. Cool environment. ACTUALLY spicy food. Tender and moist chicken. Would come here again 100+ times. Best Mac-n-cheese I've had in years and I'm a Mac-n-cheese connoisseur.

Truc T.

Yelp
4.5 stars We were staying in Walnut Creek for the night and I was excited to find that World Famous Hotboys had a restaurant there! The first and only time we had WFH was on our foodie trip to Oakland and we loved it! They're located off Main Street, so you'll have to look for street parking. It was around 8:30pm when we got there and we were able to find a spot right next to WFH. They were still pretty busy when we walked-in! We decided to dine-in and surprisingly they grabbed us menus and led us to a booth. I thought it was a pay at cashier and self seating type of place but they made it more like a diner type of spot. They have 3 long outdoor tables, about 6 small booths and some low counter seating. When we we ready to order, a super friendly guy came by. He took our order and we paid with him right away. This place is definitely a vibe, they were bumping hip hop and it was dimly lit inside. Made me feel like I was at a 90s house party. Lol They had 4 old school tvs with working Nintendo game consoles that you can play on too. We ordered.. SANDO COMBO-MEDIUM SPICY $16.50 -chicken thigh filet sandwich with pickles, slaw, money sauce and choice of side. We got crinkle fries, which were seasoned and crispy. The juiciness of the spicy crispy fried chicken went so well with the coolness of the coleslaw and tanginess of the pickles, inside a soft sweet bun. Great balance. It was the perfect sandwich! 5/5* HALF CHICKEN-MEDIUM SPICY $20 -came with 3 large pieces of chicken, 2 pieces of white bread, a few pickles and 2 money sauces. We originally were going to get it "hot" but the guy who took our order said it's really hot, like habanero / ghost pepper Louisiana style hot. So we were glad we got medium, it was spicy enough to make our nose run a little but we could still enjoy the flavor of the spices. The chicken looked really red and powdery but it was super flavorful. It had a sweetness to it too. The coating was crunchy and the chicken was super hot and juicy, even the breast meat was juicy! 4.5/5* HALAL TEXAS RED CHILI $6 -good, hearty but a bit salty. Flavor wise, it was bold and tasty. It was topped with some shredded cheese, red onions and sour cream. The pieces of meat I ate was more like chunks of overcooked beef. I didn't like the texture of it. The portion was pretty small, like the cup was the size of one ice cream scoop. Would have been good with some sweet cornbread to balance out the saltiness. I put the chili on my crinkle fries too. 3.5/5* DIRTY DAVE'S TOP SECRET RANCH $1 -YUM. Creamy ranch sauce with a touch of sweetness. Great with fries. Only problem is.. you get such a small container of it, the size of a togo sauce container. 4.5/5* STRAWBERRY SHAKE $7 -sweet but barely tasted any strawberry. A tad bit icy for me too. 3/5* FOUNTAIN DRINK $2.99 -self serve soda fountain. I'm only writing this because our root beer soda was really good. Ice cold, bubbly and sweet, like straight out of a can! Refreshing with our spicy fried chicken. Unlimited refills. 5/5* We also wanted to try their mac n cheeze but they ran out.. SAD. Overall we really enjoyed our dinner! My husband loved it. Service was very friendly too. Would totally come back just for the chicken sandwich and bone-in chicken. Next time I want to try that and their breakfast burrito too.

Yelp
Bro the Tender meal and the guap fries are the best thing i've ever had. and the tenders are so crispy and flavorful, and the guap fries are just the best type of fries i've ever had. Me and my friends went downtown the other day and stopped t grab food here, it was so good we all planned on getting it again, also very amazing services, and fun games there! five stars 10/10 recommended to go eat, also Hotboys inspired me to start making graffiti art. Also the place is very well decorated and amazing when you walk in. feels so unreal.

Yelp
There are people that claim that the world's best chicken sandwich is here. Not sure about best, but it is pretty darn good. Hotboys has multiple joints in the Bay Area and focuses on fried chicken. The spice levels start from none to "insanely hot" and they are in the form of a dry rub. Taste: 5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambience: 4/5 Value for money: 4/5 We had: 1) the Sando - this is the signature, the bun is slightly chill (not toasted), pickles and slaw on it with a house sauce, the chicken is deep fried with a dry rub. Would recommend! 2) chicken tenders - can't go wrong here as well, the tenders are served over a toast that absorbs flavours 3) Fries - the fries are crispy and crinklecut with a rub on top, would heavily recommend! 4) rice - the side of rice seems around 3-4oz and is actually done well! 5) shakes- this comes in the form of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate (just vanilla with chocolate syrup) these are not bad but very rich and seemingly buttery Food overall is rich and filling! We struggled to eat dinner four hours after.

Yelp
Solid food, fast friendly service, and good value. Accidentally ended up here and glad fate had us eating spicy chicken sandwiches and enjoying spicy crispy fries. Sandwich combo piece of chicken was huge- barely able to eat with the burger bun.
