Do not buy policies from this company. I never will again. I was delayed 24 hours on a trip to India. Why you ask? Bc the first leg of my trip left from DCA, one month after a helicopter collided with a plane. Our president decided he needed to take a helicopter and DCA ground control grounded all flights causing me to miss my connection in Newark. Apparently this isn’t a covered reason.

Be aware of this company. The irony is that you will be fine as long as you don't file any claims but wait until something actually happen to you during your trip. They are certainly the fair weather insurance company. I looked up the owner of this business and I even reached out to him on Linkedin to understand his etho. No response. I think he needs to learn a lesson "hard ways" eventually.

I had an exceptional experience with World Nomads Insurance! The entire process was seamless, and I couldn’t be happier with the service provided for my son. From start to finish, the customer support team was prompt and thorough in answering all my questions. Any concerns I had were addressed quickly, and the claims process was straightforward with no issues at all. I felt completely supported throughout. Highly recommend World Nomads for anyone seeking reliable and efficient travel insurance! A big thank you to Leah 🙏🏼

Wow what an awful experience. Here is where my issue is sat right now: Holiday was in February, incident occurred towards end of February. Placed claim upon returning 1st week of March. Here we are in June and still NO WHERE with our claim. They take between 7 - 10 days to respond and when they do its rubbish. Here is an example: They asked us to re-send the scanned copies in a PDF format as they can't accept JPEG. But we did send it in PDF, it then took them another 7 days to respond to that. Everytime they ask for something and mind you, its always one thing instead of everything, they will then take 7 - 10 days to respond. So yes, here we are 4 months later, still pushing for our claim. Luckily for us it isn't due to health because imagine the pain and suffering you'd experience if that was the case. Awful, do not buy from them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avoid World Nomads Insurance ! I strongly advise against using World Nomads for travel insurance. My experience with them has been frustrating and disappointing. They take days and even weeks to respond, making it nearly impossible to get any assistance when you need it . When it comes to claims, they do everything they can to delay and complicate the process, making reimbursement as difficult as possible. Even worse, they told me that my reimbursement had been transferred—but it never arrived. After repeated follow-ups, I still received no resolution. If you’re looking for reliable travel insurance, I highly recommend staying away from this company.

Update: unfortunately there is none. World Nomads responds that someone will reach out to bad reviewers and then they never do! Terrible I have bought insurance for many trips from this company and then the one time I need to make a claim, I get ignored. When you make a claim, they pass it on to a company called TripMate. I filled out all the documents, emailed a few things and then they just ignored me. I emailed multiple times with no response. What a scam!

Google
The worst customer service and claims process. Its a scam. Their strategy is to ghost you long enough on a claim you give up replying. Holiday was in Feb. Claim submitted end of Feb. Its June now. Pathetic. No way to escalate dissatisfaction to them, so resorting to warning others on google

World Nomads has very reasonable rates for coverage vs other companies. World Nomads offers "blanket" coverage for dollar amounts vs a sliding scale that other companies use. To get the same amount of coverage, World Nomads is significantly lower in price. I have purchased over 10 policies over the years with World Nomads and am happy to say that the 1st time I have had to file a claim was easy and straightforward. I highly recommend World Nomads. The claims process is quick, easy and straightforward. Payment for the claim was easy as well. Overall, it was a great experience. FYI, my claim was to cover lost expenses due to my Father being hospitalized just prior to my trip. I had to cancel/reschedule my trip in order to care for my Father. I was able to refund or reschedule most of my trip. World Nomads covered the 2 hotels that would not reschedule or refund. I submitted the claims form online, submitted additional forms (receipts, Doctor's verification, medical forms, etc.) online as well. All of my communication was via email, as I never needed to or felt the need to speak to an agent and all went smoothly and easily. No issues at all throughout the process. Very happy with my experience. I highly recommend and will definitely use World Nomads again.

Yelp
I am very disappointed with the insurance service & product I purchased from World Nomads. I have contacted Trip Mate, Underwritten by Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, on numerous occasions to try & recoup the extra money I had to spend when one of our connecting flights was cancelled. I submitted the 1st claim on May 5, 2019. I did not receive a response until May 31, at which time they told me I was not covered for Trip Interruption. I resubmitted the claim on June 1st under Trip Delay & received another claim denial on July 16th. I then sent an appeal request the same day. I received an unfavorable finalized appeal notification today, August 12th. It has been three months of back & forth. I hope you can understand my frustration. In my opinion, the amount of time I have had to wait in between claim requests & appeals is unacceptable. The final straw is, I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO BE REIMBURSED! We are talking about less than $500. If we had missed our connecting flight in Denver, the claim would have been at least four times as much. It is really unfortunate that I purchased insurance for circumstances such as this & am now am unable to collect. This experience has truly given me a negative & disgusted feeling. Jennifer TG

Yelp
This is the WORST travel insurance company, of course you do not learn this until you file a claim. I filed a small claim probably less than $400.00 for flight delay and incidentals. Three months later it has not been settled. According to their website you must allow X amount of time to process the claim. Once that period of time expires they will contact you for additional information in order to further delay settling the claim. I will NEVER use this company for travel insurance again...EVER. I suggest you take heed and do the same. Their positive reviews are bogus they only serve to sell you they are not authentic.

Yelp
Wow just wow. I am sitting here temporarily paralyzed and waiting for a form to be reviewed by a team of "medical experts" (insurance aholes) instead of being airlifted to a place that can properly treat my condition. I have 48 hours to get to a hospital that can help me and so far I have spend 12 between insurance middlemen making sure the correct forms are sent(even though they were sent and got lost by the so useful middlemen). What a waste of my time and my health. If i suffer permanent nerve damage because of these morons I will be sueing them. This has been a complete waste of my money and time and life. Do not buy from them it's a scam.

Yelp
Purchased my policy thru World Nomads which used Trip Mate which is underwritten by Nationwide. What a mess ... just go and purchase from Nationwide. It will be much cheaper. The online portal for filing claims is a joke. I'm still waiting after two months for my claims to be acknowledged. Trip Mate says that it takes 30 days for them to even look at claims. I hoped that was to make them look like heroes is they get back in two weeks ... but it's been two months and no reply to my followup emails.

Yelp
Unethical and deceptive - unfortunately after using this insurance for many years, something has gone wrong at World Nomads. My son traveled to China in 2017 from the US and got sick while there. He extended his World Nomads policy 2 times at the encouragement of the company. When we were finally able to get all the paper work together they eventually - after 6 months are arguing - agreed to pay a fraction of the medical claims in the original policy period but then declined all further claims that occured in the 2 extension periods stating that the original illness was now a pre-existing illness and would not be covered. This company SUCKS!

Yelp
Tell Them Not to Die Planning an overseas trip? Going to insure with World Nomads - recommended by Lonely Planet - and underwritten by Cerberus? Make sure you tell everyone in your immediate family not to die while you are away. Because if they are so inconsiderate as to check out while you are travelling abroad, returning to attend their funeral may turn into a major problem. Coping with the paper-pushers at Cerberus is enough to drive you to distraction. Or at least it did me. When I rang World Nomads on 10 November 2015, I was told I could claim $2,500NZD for my trip to Canada to attend my brother's funeral. When the claim was processed, however, the amount was reduced to $2,00NZD because my 48 year old brother - who had dropped dead from a heart attack - was deemed to have a "pre-existing medical condition." Really, and how did Cerberus get access to his medical records? One reason we - the family and the over 600 people who attended his funeral - went into shock was that he was about as healthy as could be. The following is the letter I wrote to Hannah at Cerberus. Her reply was another offer to settle for $2,000. Does Cerberus teach employees how to pick off the scab of grief on a consistent basis? Their obvious approach is to keep battering away until they wear down your resistance so that you will sign off just to get them out of your life. Happy travels. And don't forget to tell everyone is your family to stay healthy as you want to avoid the hassle of dealing with Cerberus. Open Letter to Cerberus 29 January 2016 Hannah, Why does Cerberus keep changing the requirements for a bereavement claim? First you wanted a death certificate for my brother who died on 6 November 2015. Sent. Next it was an autopsy report which I promised to forward when it was available. When I sent the attending physician's report that the cause of death was not a suicide, an accident or a homicide you replied by requesting his medical records to prove that it was not from a preexisting condition. Right, so now you want me to ask my grieving sister-in-law to get a note from the local doctor that my strong, healthy brother who dropped dead from a heart attack didn't have any earlier coronary problems? Let me guess. The next demand will be to get his ashes tested to prove he didn't die from polonium 210 poisoning. And you come back to me with an offer of $2000NZD if I will sign off on the claim without having to go through the grief of this exercise. And all to save $500? No. Enough is enough. Dead is dead and the how, where, why, when doesn't factor into the grieving process. Therefore, I expect you to deposit $2,500NZD - as I was told on 10 November 2015 when I called World Nomads - into my account without any further paperwork. Please let me know when this has been done. Best regards, Jody Hanson

Yelp
New review, same old story. They will lie to you to get your money, then come up with BS excuses to refuse paying for your emergency expenses. They will always value paperwork and technical compliance over actual human suffering an well being. What's this? You're too sick/broken to fill out your forms correctly? Oh that's just too bad. It looks like your claims will be DENIED. What's this? You sent us the 81-page claim package with all of your original receipts that we demanded? Well... we lost it. Hope you kept copies! What's this? You want to talk to somebody about getting reimbursed for your emergency expenses? Here's Paperwork Patty! She'll take REAAAAL good care to make sure none of your claims ever get processed. Also she's a minimum wage call center employee who knows nothing about you, your problems, or your claims, and generally does not give one single, solitary, flying.... you get the idea. Typical insurance scam: take your money then deny you coverage. Beware, and DO NOT USE.
