The food was great. The location was extremely clean, not a speck of trash or crumbs anywhere to be seen. The staff were friendly and helpful with their recommendations. The food came out pretty swiftly. When I got home to give my wife her order, after only 1 bite the first words out of her mouth were "wow, thats good, we are going back". The food is as delicious as it looks in the photos attached. There are plenty of sandwich spots around but this Sourdough bread makes a difference in the flavor experience. Stop by, you wont be disappointed.

Google
My sister and I stopped by this sandwich shop yesterday for a quick bite, and it did not disappoint 🤤 I usually have trouble with most breads, but I digest sourdough much better, so I was very excited to see that as the main bread. We tried the smoked pepper turkey sandwich, and it was delicious! The staff was incredibly polite, and the overall vibe was laid-back and welcoming. I highly recommend checking them out if you’re in the mood for a great sandwich!

Google
The first bite told the story. Crunchy and chew great stuffed with chicken deliciousness. They have unbelievably delicious sandwiches. Can’t wait to try more. My wife and I agree. A real find.

Google
Best crispy sandwich. If you like a great bread here is your place . And cheers to Rico. I forgot to ask them to heat up my bread and he kindly asked me to keep the Cold one and made me new hot one. Great customer service

Google
It's a great tasting sandwich not gonna lie, They just ended up giving us 6 same size sandwich when we both ordered 2 difference sizes. Kinda of disappointed as this was my 1st time trying this place out and this is what was given. Excuse the bites.

Google
I honestly just love coming here . The staff is so friendly and welcoming , the food is amazing and they have the best tomato soup on Wednesdays !

Google
Delicious, fresh sandwiches that came out pretty quickly. We ordered the garlic pesto turkey with sides of mac n cheese and the clam chowder (all delicious). Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
The perfect lunch for me in Houston. Easy parking, quick service and great food! I ordered chicken salad and clam Chowder with lemon cookie for dessert. All was delicious! Portion sizes were perfect for me. You could get 4" 6" or 8". I got 4". Will definitely return next time I'm in Houston.

Yelp
Located in the Krogers and Total Wine shopping center just south of the highway, this are is a newly constructed area with some up and coming shops. Came here to check out their sandwiches; upon entering it reminds me immediately of a Firehouse Subs. Similar fast food ordering style; various sandwich options and fountain drinks and chips. I got the smoked brisket sandwich with avocado and a side of Mac. The bread was solid and the sandwich itself was fine. The Mac was fairly disappointing and tasted a bit like fast food Mac. Not too big a fan of fountain drinks so I went with the unsweet tea. Overall, it was a very quick sandwich option that was fine but when compared to a JJ's or Firehouse, I couldn't definitively rank any above the other. There are also just so many more gourmet food options at this price point.

Yelp
Pretty decent sandwich! I am not sure if my taste buds are off, but the sourdough bread wasn't "giving" sourdough flavor. I had the #3 (turkey) which had Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, house spread, and a pickle on the side. Despite being the smallest sandwich size (4"), I wasn't left hungry. It reminded me flavor-wise of something they'd serve at La Madeleine. I would probably come back even though it was pricier for a sandwich than your typical sandwich shop. It's nice to try something new every now and then though.

Yelp
Why 4 stars? Because this is a solid option for a sandwich shop. --- --- --- I've tried a few placed I've enjoyed more, but World of Sourdough is not a bad spot when you have a hankering for meat betwixt bread. I ordered the smoked brisket and while I did enjoy it, there were some inconsistencies. Some bites were kind of on the dry side and tasted like bread and meat only. Other bites were full of all the other stuff that provided the juiciness. And the things that provide juiciness are generally what makes stuff good. -Teddy Roosevelt. My wife ordered the Italian and I ended up housing about half of it. It was a delight with more evenly spread juiciness. I can't not shout out the strawberry coconut tea. I could drink that stuff until I drowned. And the macadamia nut cookie was a pretty nice finish too, though I would have loved for them to heat it up. (We asked, they declined). Not that they get credit for it, but this whole plaza was super nice. Even the Home Depot looked awesome. And THAT's the kind of important detail that you come to my reviews for.

Yelp
During the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl I remember passing by World of Sourdough, thinking "huh I wonder if sourdough is all they sell" so I saved it in my Apple Maps to find out they are a sandwich shop! My wife and I stopped by World of Sourdough in Houston, and we were pleasantly surprised by the experience! She ordered the Turkey 4-inch sandwich, while I opted for the Garlic Pesto Turkey 4-inch sandwich. Both were great! The sourdough bread was fresh, perfectly soft on the inside while the outside of the bread had the perfect light crisp. The turkey was tender and flavorful. The garlic pesto added some diversity to my sandwich. There was no line when we arrived, which was nice, and the place had a cozy, inviting atmosphere that made us want to linger for a while. I also tried their Strawberry Coconut drink, and it was hella refreshing. Customer service was on point as well! Will definitely be back !

Yelp
We've been searching all through Houston for a really good sandwich shop comparing it to California. This one is really good highly recommend.

Yelp
In the 2 months I've lived in Houston, I have eaten a sandwich from this place probably once a week since I first tried it. The sourdough bread itself is superb. The perfect balance of soft and chewy with a perfect crusty crunch. I get the turkey garlic pesto and I haven't been able to kick the addiction long enough to try something else. I've mainly had it delivered but picking up from the store is also fast and easy. I also think they have a decent New England clam chowder but really I'm just here for the bread
google avatar

Yelp
We've been driving by this place a lot and have been wanting to give them a try. We finally tried them today and let me tell you. We got the Italian and tuna sandwich on their sourdough bread. For a place by the name of sourdough, I had expectations and boy did they deliver. The sourdough itself was good, toasted perfectly it gave a really good crunch to the sandwich, that itself met my expectations. Overall the sandwiches were super solid and satisfying. We also got chowder which was actually very good, I prefer it to Mainely lobster's chowder. The guy at the counter was nice and friendly, and the place was actually packed inside since I picked up right at noon. Overall, very happy with our lunch and we will definitely return!

Yelp
Seemed like a pretty typical Standish shop but not super easy to order online and they close kind of early for my needs. I had the French dip style sandwich which was really good, the bread was chewy but when dipped in the aus jus it was so yummy! I feel like it would have been pretty dry and hard without the dipping sauce... nothing about screamed at me to go again but I probably will one day
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
I had lunch last week for the first time and enjoyed it. My order was for one of their specialty sandwiches called The French Dip in 6" length and made it a combo with chips and fountain drink for a little over $18 including tax. The sandwich was ready in less than10 minutes. It came with a cup of au jus for dipping and is served hot unlike many of their other sandwiches that are served cold. The French Dip had thinly sliced roast beast, Swiss cheese and their special sauce on a sourdough bun (of course!) and was delicious especially with the au jus. I would order it again even though at $12.75 for the sando, I thought it was a little expensive. It was a quality sandwich that I believe is reflective of all of the sandwiches offered here. I would be happy to return.

Yelp
I was in the Heights and searched for a nearby sandwich shop to try. This place is amazing! Their sourdough is the best way to eat a sandwich. I just had a plain turkey and opted for their standard dressings (lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, spread). I am definitely a returning customer!
google avatar

Kathryn G.

Yelp
Pretty good! No gluten free options sadly! Only white bread made in house. It can get really busy during lunch. I had to wait about 15-20 minutes but wasn't a bad experience. Would probably give it another try . I had a turkey sandwich on white even though i shouldn't have bread lol

Yelp
Stopped by WoS to pick up lunch for myself and my son and it was disappointingly mediocre. I order a 6in roast beef with mayo, dijon, horseradish, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese for myself, a few pickles on the side and a mayo, ham and cheese kids meal for my son. For my sandwich I was expecting something a little more exciting but overall it was very bland, almost tasting watery. The roast beef was shaved paper thin and had zero flavor. The amount of roast beef on the sandwich was minimal and in fact, I even saw the guy preparing my sandwich take some meat off while he was making it! None of the sauces came through but the crunch of the lettuce was nice. The kids meal came with a drink, side (I chose apple sauce) and the sandwich and I have to say..it was the saddest sandwich I've ever seen and it wasn't even a full sandwich, it was a half sandwich cut in half! The best part about this meal were the pickles. They were actually really good! I did an online order and as I was waiting for my sandwich I heard every name but mine called so I walked up to the counter to inquire about it the guy who prepped it got an attitude saying "it's right here" but I said "I wouldn't have know because my name wasn't called" and he rudely replied "well it's right here" There were plenty of people coming in and out picking up orders so maybe it was the lunch rush that made the service and the sandwich nothing to write home about but either way, I will not be rushing back to world of sourdough anytime soon.

Yelp
I love a good sandwich. It's quick and easy and this place hits the spot. My go to is the garlic pesto turkey. Definitely more garlic tasting than pesto, but the flavor is perfect. The bread is baked perfectly, crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. Turkey is fresh and so are the veggies. The service is always quick and helpful. Plenty of seating, bathrooms clean! I need to try more of the menu but the garlic pesto is just too good!
google avatar

Yelp
We happened to be nearby and stopped in based on other Yelp reviews. They were certainly correct! Staff were very friendly and very efficient. New England Clam chowder was spot on, and that is coming from a New Englander. Reuben sandwich was very good and on excellent bread. Would love to see a 1000 island option available but nonetheless it was excellent.

Yelp
Caprese sandwich - 9/10 Tuna salad sandwich - 9/10 Fire-roasted vegetable soup - 8/10 Mac & cheese - 9.5/10 Ive never had a favorite spot for sandwiches before but now I think I do. This spot is not halal so I tried their vegetarian and seafood items. I loved everything I tried. Their bread is the best part and was so soft. I also lovedd the mac and cheese. Highly recommend this spot for comfort food on a cold day if you're in the area!
google avatar

Serra M.

Yelp
The bread is warm and fresh made to order. The service is always great as they get you in and out. The ambiance is always clean.

Yelp
Before we talk about what we are all here for ... the Food, let's talk about the service. Everyone and I do mean everyone who works here is extremely personable and knowledgeable. You can tell they love what they do. The customer service is top tier! Special shout out to Brennan and Kiko! The store itself is nice, super clean and inviting. I was so excited to try world of Sourdough. After checking out the menu for what felt like 20 minutes (I couldn't decide) I finally decided to try the pastrami. Pastrami (served hot) with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. I really enjoyed this sandwich. The sourdough is perfect! I also love that it's not your traditional pastrami sandwich. My husband had the French dip. I had a bite, also very good. The Mac and cheese bread bowl was great! If it were a baked Mac and cheese it would be fire! Thats the only thing I would change. I will definitely be back. If you are in Houston (lower heights) check them out!!

Yelp
The best sandwiches in Houston. Their bread is unmatched. Everything is always fresh and delicious. I usually order the turkey four or six inch and it's perfect for lunch. Service is always good and fast, and the tables/seating are very clean. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

Stephanie R.

Yelp
The cashier with a palm like ponytail had an attitude for messing up my order. I asked for a large salad. He charged for a small salad. When I told him he said "well that's why I asked you to review the screen" when he never even said that. He also messed up the order for the person before me.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch a little after noontime so I'm assuming I missed the lunchtime rush, there were a few customers lingering and the staff was busy busing the perviously occupied tables. The ordering process is pretty typical you can grab a bag of chips before placing your order and once you place it you get a cup for the self-serve drink options I grabbed a bag of Vicki's Salt and Vinegar chips to go with my 8" Pastrami and Turkey sandwich and a cup of freshly brewed unsweetened tea. The staff was very friendly and my sandwich arrived after only a few minutes, I agree with other reviewers that the bread to meat ratio needs to be looked at but the ingredients were all fresh and of good quality and the bread is very good, it reminded me of the sour dough I've experienced in San Francisco (yes it's that good). There are lots of sandwiches options around the Houston area and this one just adds a little variety that separates itself from the others, the location is convenient for me but requires some maneuvering to find the storefront but once you locate it there is plenty of parking available...

Yelp
Stumbled on this place by accident while headed to home depot. What a great spot for a place that offers a cozy soup and sandwich. Staff was friendly. Plenty of parking outside. Place was clean. We ordered a French dip and a cup of clam chowder. The sourdough was warm and soft and fresh, the clam chowder was nice and hot and had lots of flavor and bits of clam. The French dip was 6 inches and meaty and moist with the perfect au jus to dip into. They offered 3 soups on the menu with the other 2 being vegetable soup and chili. I would definitely return and try some of their other menu items.

Yelp
Holy garlic pesto!!!!!! This is easily one of my new favorite sandwiches. It is absolutely delicious. The bread is truly so good and flaky with lots of flavor. We doordashed the sandwiches so can't say much to the service or vibes inside, but door dash was very quick and we didn't have any soggy sandwiches which is a PLUS! French dip was very very good but can't top the garlic pesto hahaha. I definitely want to go inside and try it in store!
google avatar

Guillermo G.

Yelp
Place is clean. Bread is excellent. Sandwiches are worth it. The jalapeno ranch has that nice kick of spice. Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Tien T.

Yelp
This is one of the best sandwich spots I ever tried. My friends and I got to try some of the salads and sandwiches including the crispy crunchy chicken sandwich and southwest chicken salad! My favorites are the smoked brisket sandwich and Caesar salad, which has a perfect taste! The staff here is very friendly and gave us so much food that we are appreciated. It's a great quick lunch spot to eat or take it on the go during your break! I would recommend getting a meal during lunch!
google avatar

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised about how delicious World of Sourdough was! Newly open, this place sports sandwiches with fresh baked sourdough loaves. For those who aren't usually a big fan, I don't think the sourdough was that sour (I'm not usually a huge fan and enjoyed it!) and the texture was just *chef's kiss* with a chewy crisp coat and a soft and warm interior. The sandwiches come in 4, 6, and 8", so they're a bit small. The French Dip meat quality was definitely superb and tender, and the sandwich itself was tasty. The au jus dip actually didn't taste like much and we didn't end up using it. The pastrami Rueben was fine (maybe not a pastrami fan) although I preferred the French Dip! The clam chowder was rich and savory, not the best I've had but hit the spot. The inside is fast-casual (think Chipotle), a few tables for 4 and window bar seating. When they bake a new batch of bread fresh / when it gets busy, it can take a while to get the sandwiches (15 min!). The workers were super nice :) and we got a cookie for being first time customers! All in all, the food was delicious-- hard to justify spending so much $$$ on sandwiches for their size, but I will be back when the craving hits! I'm planning to try the brisket sandwich next!

Yelp
Ciabatta bread used to be my favorite bread but I think i'm on team sourdough after having sandwiches from here. My fiancée and I got the garlic pesto sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, and a cup of clam chowder for our post workout meal on a Saturday afternoon. The garlic pesto sandwich was so delicious, but the pesto is very light. I actually had to ask the workers to make sure the pesto was there and they informed me that it's a pesto aioli. The sandwich was really good and I would order it again but I wished the pesto was more pronounced. The tuna sandwich was good as well. As I was eating the tuna sandwich I found myself wishing the sandwich had a hollow center so it could retain more of the tuna instead of spilling the contents onto my plate. The real star of the sandwiches is the bread! Wow. I've never heard sourdough this good before. The breads had a nice crunch from being toasted but were also fluffy on the inside. Amazing. The clam chowder was surprisingly good as well! Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
I went here on a Thursday afternoon. It was really good! I got a few soups to-go (the cream of potato and fire roasted vegetable). The cream of potato was amazing! I don't know what they put in that soup but I couldn't stop eating it. The baguette pieces were also really good. The fire roasted vegetable soup was also yummy. No complaints from me! The restaurant was really nice and wasn't super busy. It was really clean as well. The staff was super nice as well, and very friendly. I got my order quick. I'd happily go back here again if I was in the area! I'm not gonna be able to stop thinking about that cream of potato soup

Yelp
I had a craving for a sandwich and honestly, who doesn't love sourdough? I found this place on Yelp, so I was excited to try it, and even more excited that there would be no parking issues like so many places in The Heights (IYKYK). I wasn't super hungry, although I did a killer leg workout and 30 min spin ride afterwards, but tbh, I also had just eaten a cookie. LOL. So, I opted for the 4" cracked pepper turkey sandwich with all the things on it. As I suspected, the bread was super delicious and the sandwich was just right, not too little and not too much for someone who just had a cookie. The reason I dinged them a star is that there was no line when we arrived, only 2 guys waiting, yet it took quite a while for them to bring our order out. I believe they do a lot of pickup and mobile app orders, so there is that. Just don't starve out the people who showed up. See what I did there? :)

Yelp
Stumbled across this gem when I needed to grab a bite to eat before getting my nails done. The bread, the meat, the toppings... all top notch! I was only able to eat half of my sandwich, with the amount of time I had, but it was just as delicious hours later (after popping it in the toaster oven for a few). As for the service, the staff was nice, patient, knowledgeable, AND fast! This is a must try for all sandwich lovers and those in a rush but don't want to eat greasy fast food.
google avatar

Mel S.

Yelp
Friendly service. Sandwiches made fresh. Very clean eating area and neat shelving. Pretty fast to prepare if there's not a line. Will update once I taste this sandwich
google avatar

Jade R.

Yelp
Food is a definite 10/10 , i'm a big sucker for sourdough bread! This is the place for you when you're looking for some comfort food! Loooovee WoS!!
google avatar

Matthew M.

Yelp
The cholula chicken is soooooo good mmmmmhmhmmmm holy shit it's literally just the best sandwhich i wish i had the money to go get one right naweww ughhhh is that 85 characters
google avatar

Shelley D.

Yelp
Ordered this via DoorDash and it was delish. I got the Italian and my gf got the Caprese sandwich; both on sourdough. I can't wait to try the tuna and pastrami sandwiches; I look forward to trying the clam chowder soup, too.
google avatar

Drew J.

Yelp
Good, but not great. Ordered the Italian sandwich and the fresh mozzerella really elevated the sandwich as whole. The bread was delicious. Wished there was a bit more on the protein side of things. Overall not going to blow you away, but it's a nice clean tasting sandwich.
google avatar

Alfredo C.

Yelp
Wonderful service from Kiko I had hot pastrami and Swiss; Mrs. had clam chowder Everything tasty. We shall return when we are in the neighborhood. BTW, They source their starter from San Francisco
google avatar

Janene M.

Yelp
The sourdough part of the sandwich was excellent but the inside was just fair. Ample amount of turkey lunch meat but it was extremely salty and reminded me of the cold cuts you can buy packaged in the grocery store. I'm not a fan of their house spread either unfortunately.
google avatar

Betsy E.

Yelp
Was excited to try this place because I've heard great things, but was not impressed. The restaurant was dirty but it was after the lunch rush so I'll cut slack, but they didn't have any high chairs for kids. My husband and I each ordered a sandwich combo and ordered a kids meal and it was $45 for the three of us. Okay maybe the food is worth it. But the food was subpar at best. My sons'a chicken salad sandwich had three bites of chicken the rest fruit and didn't even cover the bread. Won't be back.
google avatar

Anthony L.

Yelp
World of Sourdough is great! I order the cracked pepper turkey sandwich and add avocado. They have a ton of options including soups that rotate daily and bread bowls. The interior of the restaurant is always clean, and they seem to always have just the right amount of tables open to accommodate the crowd. You can order online and pickup is really easy. The staff is always very nice and the customer service is consistently great. The only drawback for me is their hours, they normally close pretty early, but this is a great lunch spot. It has become my go to for a quick lunch during my work break or on the weekends.
google avatar

Texan K.

Yelp
Good decent place. Service is fast, definitely my top 3 sandwiches shop in Houston.
google avatar

Mariel T.

Yelp
Ordered the #13 garlic pesto 6in to go. Let's start with the good: -bread is delicious, they are true to their name! -you can customize easily when online ordering -food was ready before pickup time The not so good: -there was 0 garlic flavor and 0 pesto. Considering that's the name of the sandwich.. yikes Overall, I'd give it a shot again, but I'll double check my order before heading out.
google avatar

Keke M.

Yelp
Was looking for a good French dip sandwich, and found this place on tik tok. Service was very friendly, wasn't a very long wait. I'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend! 10/10 Unfortunately I wasn't able to take a picture because I already ate the food. Yes it was that good!
google avatar

Carolina B.

Yelp
It was ok. I was in the mood for a sandwich and so I went out of my way to come so that I could try a new place. Wouldn't say I'd go out of my way again, and I'm not sure I'd even choose to come even if I was in the area... sad to say that! The sandwiches are "fine" but nothing out of this world. My particular sandwich came with burrata, which was basically in one big ball in the middle. I ordered a clam chowder as well--it was super watery and lacked any real flavor. The staff is nice and this place will do just fine. I just prefer other sandwich shops personally.
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
sandwiches are so tasty! idk how they make it diff than i do at home but it's next level clam chowder bread bowl 6/10 it's good but i've had better in seattle haha crispy crunchy chicken sandwich 8/10!! so flavorful french dip sandwich 7.5/10 yummy beef overall would come back if i'm craving soups and sandwiches also service is good
google avatar

Yelp
Visited World of Sourdough during lunchtime on a Friday. The service was quick and all of the employees were friendly. I was eating by myself and I was a little worried I wouldn't have anywhere to sit, but they have a large table that seats 8, so I was able to share with some others sitting there. After reading some yelp reviews, I decided on the garlic pesto sandwhich. I got the 8" and it was plenty of food. Also, after reading reviews and being a huge pesto fan, I asked for some extra pesto aioli on the side and it was 100% my best decision. That stuff is goooood. Of course the bread was delicious and I'd definitely stop by and get a baguette before my next Italian night at home. Will 1000% be back here.
google avatar

Liz N.

Yelp
I was shocked at how much I enjoyed World of Sourdough!! I came here after work for an early dinner. I ordered a cup of clam chowder and the French dip. It was sliced Roast Beef with Swiss Cheese and a side of Au Jus and Served Hot! This sandwich was tasty AF and that bread!!!! I forgot to take any pics cause I demolished that sandwich and soup. Service was fast and employees were super nice. I came for an early dinner so it was just me in the restaurant, but it was clean. I ordered the pesto Turkey to go and had it at work the next day and it was still so good the next day. They cut it in half for me, so I was able to have 2 different meals from the sandwich. Overall, I would be back. This sandwich shop slaps!
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
I wanted it to be better... bread is great but the sandwiches lack flavor. Tried tuna fish (hate relish in my tuna salad) and the French dip. The sauce they use on the sandwiches is just ok.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
Phenomenal. A somewhat rare confluence of amazing food and spectacular service. The menu offers enough variety (both cold and hot sandwiches) to please everyone, I think. I had the Smoked Brisket and it was superb. Juicy brisket, flavorful slaw, and amazing bread. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside -- perfect. My boyfriend had the French Dip and that was excellent as well. I've tried French Dip sandwiches at famous places in LA and honestly, this one was better. The service was top notch. This place is a franchise (this is the only TX location so far) but had a small business vibe, for sure. The owner was right there, taking orders. Super nice dude who gave us a free cookie (it was yummy) since it was our first time visiting. There are several tables inside but they fill up fast on busy days. Also, a couple tables outside however they are right in the sun (maybe they could invest in umbrellas, if possible). Delicious sandwiches with awesome service. Can't wait to go back and highly recommend World of Sourdough to anyone who loves a good sandwich.

Yelp
Just walked in to try the sandwich shop for the first time and was going to grab a quick sandwich to go. Instead we were met by an extremely rude manager expressing that the store closed in 15 minutes, that they would not make hot sandwiches and not eager to help. Two additional customers walked in and right back out. I guess your store does not need customers? Needless to say, we will never go back!!!! The system made me give 1 star to post but this evening it deserves negatives stars!
