5 Recent Twin Cities Restaurant and Bar Openings to Know in August 2025 | Eater Twin Cities

"Detroit-style specialist Wrecktangle Pizza has expanded to Duluth. The Twin Cities-based pizza chain is now serving square slices inside Wild State Cider’s taproom. The menu offers pies like the Very Nice Breakfast Pizza (cheddar jack, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon jam, fried sage) and Wild Steak (pulled beef, mushroom, ricotta, apple, pink peppercorn), and other items such as smoked wings, pickle roll-ups, and garlic breadsticks. Guests can wash down the food with Wild State’s lineup of ciders and THC drinks. Wrecktangle also has locations in Lyn-Lake and at the Market at Malcolm Yards." - Jeffy Mai

Absolutely nailed it. The space, the food, and the service. The staff was willing to experiment with me for a non-cheese version of their (incredible) splinter pizza. Vegan cheese has ruined many a pizza for me, so I tend to avoid cheese altogether. And what they came up with was spectacular. My husband and son loved the meat lovers, we all loved the waffle friends, and the entire evening was magical dining under the Christmas lights. We will definitely add Wrecktangle into our regular rotation. So good.

After years of having to drive to the cities for our favorite Detroit style pizza, we are SO THRILLED to have Wrectangle Pizza right here in Duluth! Their location inside of Wild State Cider is gorgeous + a great spot for families, couples, groups + anyone who likes cheesy carbs! We ordered the Shredder (our personal fav of their pizzas) and tried out the Waffle fries + pickle roll ups - which were both fantastic. But the Waffle Fries? Heaven. Absolute fried perfection! We visited on a Sunday with our 4-year-old daughter + puppy, ordered easily and found a spot on the patio. Our food was ready quickly and everything met our expectations (and then some!) You won't regret eating here, whether dining in or taking out!

Detroit style pizza was on point, good toppings and crispy crust, 4/5, would for sure get again. Wings were spectacularly lackluster, especially at $18 for 8 total; cold, rubbery skin (yes, I know they’re ‘smoked’), barely sauced whole wings - which, let’s be honest with ourselves, are a hassle to eat at an establishment like Wild State that isn’t exactly the place you go when you’re in the mood for carnal backyard bbq style eating. I’d say they were marginally better than what you’d get from chain pizza restaurant delivery, and at least with those you’re disappointed with yourself for ordering them before you even eat them. P.S. - I don’t like publicly lambasting locally owned restaurants that I do think are doing a good job all in all and I understand every place has off days, but the ‘contact us’ page on their website just takes you to a roster of their current staff so here I am.

Went on Friday night. All the tables upstairs and downstairs filled up by 6:15. It is self-service screen at the counter and QR code for the menu(no actual menu). Food was out within 20 minutes , the pizza is filling and tasty. It's price point is pretty much the same as all other local pizza places. Large portion of waffle fries that comes with dip. The only question which is debatable on both sides is if/how much for tipping when you are using a screen to order your own food, you pick up your own food when it's ready and you bus your own dishes. Pretty much same debate about tip when you order carry-out. I would order pizza here again.

We’ve eaten here twice now with our two toddlers, and it’s been a hit every time. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, and the food is seriously delicious. Definitely order the waffle fries to share—they’re perfectly crispy. And if you get the garlic cheese bread, trust me: add pepperoni. You won’t be disappointed! WRECKTANGLE feels like such a great addition to our community, and it’s such a perfect fit with Wild State.

Went in to place a to go order like that, you just walk in and put it on a kiosk that worked out pretty well, waited the pizza was super good and fast also, because the person making the Pizza didn't think it looked nice enough. They made another one and ended up giving me both honestly. Couldn't tell which one was supposed to be the bad one or not as well pit together, They were both delicious. Really appreciate that they have so much attention to detail the pizzas being a little bit of a higher price point not crazy though, they're completely worth it, especially because they put so much emphasis on making sure they do the Pizza right for the customer. So far, I'm impressed, hopefully the quality continues. I will be going back

Google
Wrecktangle exceeded already high expectations! We tried three different pizzas and were impressed by the quality of ingredients and perfect execution of Detroit-style pizza. We're grateful for this addition to the community!

Google
The best pizza I’ve ever had. I’ll be stopping in frequently and ordering delivery once it’s available. Ordered 4 pizzas: breakfast, shredder, elote, and splinter. All unbelievably good with such a huge variety of flavors.

Yelp
Awesome pizza - authentic Detroit-style with crisp cheese crust - fresh fries too! With great cider available all in the same room too.

Yelp
Delicious pizza, great offerings with a nice cider! The pizza with everything is so good and the crust is unique. Prices are a little high but considering how filling everything is - I feel like you are getting a good amount for your money. Service is always great! Highly recommend a beverage from Wild State Cider while you wait! Such a fun vibe!

Yelp
The Detroit style pizza is good but it is really tiny for the price. The pizza wasn't large enough to fit the little pan! We got the meat lovers pizza for $26 and a few basil leaves for an extra $2.50. We were still hungry after sharing the pizza between two of us. We could have easily eaten another pizza but didn't think it was worth spending another $28.50 plus tax and tip. Next time we'll enjoy the good cider and skip the pizza.

Yelp
We ordered through Uber Eats and it was pretty fast so no thoughts on service or ambiance. We tried the spicy pepperoni with the hot honey and the BBQ pizza. The BBQ was far superior. It was saucy. It was covered with the brisket. Very good. A little sweet which is not my fav but when you order BBQ, you get what you get and anyone ordering that type of pizza knows that. What I was really looking forward to was the spicy pepperoni which fell short to my expectations. I wanted a somewhat spicy, saucy pizza with quite a bit of pepperoni. This pizza had almost NO sauce. I was super dumbfounded as to why there was no sauce. Only on a couple of the pieces did I see a little bit of sauce. It also had almost no pepperoni. So odd. You NEED a fair amount of topping for a thick doughy pizza such as this kind of pizza. You need it for balance. I tried it with the hot honey stuff and without and nothing made this pizza better. I also ordered some pickeled onions which would have rocked had the pizza been full of topping and had sauce but.. I digress. It's not that I won't order from there again however, I would eat in house as to avoid the fees from Uber eats (two pizzas were $70). I saved the best for last.. the crust on this thicker crust pizza was totally amazing! One of the best parts of the BBQ and the best part of the non-pepperoni, pepperoni pizza.
