"This is the sixth annual food truck festival at Wright Park in Tacoma, and it promises to be as popular as ever. Besides classic burgers and barbeque, attendees can expect to find poke, falafel, gyros, and banh mi sandwiches. For those looking for something a little sweeter, Jazzy’s Cookie Company and Bliss Small Batch Creamery will be on hand as well." - Gabe Guarente

I love the trees in the fall at this park. Alot of the trees have been there since 1895. Pretty neat! 💚🤎🌳🍁 To the Duck watchers , it's a good place for you guys!

Google
Fun for the whole family! Great for a unique adventure and a beautiful park to walk, relax, and enjoy. They offer a small water feature for kids to play in, there are picnic areas, a beautiful pond, and lots of cool unique old trees planted as far back as 1895!

Google
It's peaceful and plenty of beautiful plants some unusual. It smelled lovely. We saw a juvenile bald eagle hanging out in a tree also.

Wright park is like a walk through history! Theres so much you can learn and the garden is beautiful. There are events for the whole family all summer long. Theres also a spray park and a playground for the kidos! This land was actually donated, it used to have a really cool tree fort, there are horse shoe games and it was originally doubble the size it is today with a large variety of different trees.

From the century-old heritage trees to the conservatory and all the pleasant walking paths in between, this impressive park and arboretum is such an asset to the city. This 27-acre space is also rich with amenities including a playground, a splash pad, and even a lawn bowling/bocce court. If you are familiar with the tragic fate of the American Chestnut tree, a chance to see a a 120-year-old-plus one thriving is truly something special

Very beautiful park in Tacoma - the one you don’t expect! Orangery has many pretty plants including some I never seen before 😀highly recommend

Google
Wright park is beautiful- there's lots of space so your not crowded, but still around people, there's a trail all around that outside as well as a few different paths through the center. There's a greenhouse, toys, trees, green lawn to lay out on, ponds with a bridge and the atmosphere is great- parking is busy but i always manage to find a spot. Also there's lots of little shops, etc within walking distance of the park if you want to spend a half day there + exploring. I definitely recommend checking it out!

Great park especially in autumn season. If you want beautiful photos come here.

Yelp
Wright Park is a beautiful and spacious park in the downtown Tacoma area. I have always drove past, but I recently spent a few hours here and enjoyed it. The park itself was well maintained even the playground and restroom area on a Saturday afternoon. There is a paved walking trail and a lot of open grassy spaces to take pictures, have a picnic, etc. I am glad I visited during the fall time because everything was absolutely stunning. The botanical conservatory is located in the park also and free. I didn't expect the park to be this nice or well maintained because of the location so it was a pleasant surprise!

Yelp
this park has no lounge area or a path sencery it be nice and it should be readers park the wrights park was through the wright brothers yeash i get that but the name should change it also should have a pagoda gazebo on the end by the entrance also thier should be less parking at the park its gotten kinda crazy over the years and it should be an ok place to relax read and enjoy the weather out even it should have 3 fancy out side grilling areas for get togthers and partys

Yelp
This is such a big and beautiful park with a lot of history behind it, which has been around since the 1890's. It's right behind the W.W. Seymour Conservatory, so we decided to take a stroll to the pond. The park is well-maintained with a variety of plants and trees. It's no wonder that people enjoy strolling around the park, and many of them were also walking their pets. It was also fun seeing ducks swimming in the pond and diving for food. As the sign said, "parks provided beauty, wholesome recreation and fresh air, and allowed citizens to have daily contact with artfully refined nature." This park definitely provides just that.

Michael G.

Yelp
Great park in the heart of Tacoma. It has everything. Convenience. Area for littles. Areas to be private and contemplative. Well maintained. This place is a beauty.

Sherill Y.

Yelp
Opened in 1890. This beautiful, historic park is the perfect place for a long walk, a nice lunch with the duckies, or simply time spent re-energizing. It's a gorgeous old park with old trees, a water park, and a gravelly path to stroll. It gets busy though- so be prepared for that and keep an eye on your kiddos. Excellent park with swings, splash pad, grassy area, and good sit spots for parents. The park area is pretty contained with different play zones. Some of the trees date back to the park's founding in 1890. Has a nice pond with a bridge across it. The conservatory is amazing and an absolute must visit! Even if you're not going for anything specific, you could probably spend hours learning about all of the different types of trees, flowering bushes and so on - because it would seem each plant has been meticulously labeled. It's absolutely worth the trip!

Siobhan D.

Yelp
Lovely spacious spot for a spring stroll in Tacoma. Not much is in bloom yet, but this park is good for a walk and the hills add to the interest. Pond area was tidy and the ducks were in action. Clean park. Nice first date stroll in Tacoma.

Teresa M.

Yelp
This is a lovely park in Tacoma that can be a really great place to go for a stroll, extra bonus if you can come down here on your lunch break for some fresh air. Most of the park is various gravel walkways and it's basically an arboretum. Most, if not all, of the trees are imported from various corners of the globe and they are labeled with signs that are nailed to the trees. There's also a botanical conservatory which is open by appointment only as of writing this. Definitely a nice area for the kiddos to play during the warmer months as they have a playground and a splash park. This park also has several other amenities, including sport courts, bowling greens, etc. Not amazing (or large) enough to be worth a drive, but if you're in the area it's a nice place to stop off and get some fresh air and enjoy some nature.

Veronica P.

Yelp
We enjoy walking around the park and stopping by the beautiful conservatory that welcomes dogs!

Lisa L.

Yelp
I love Write Park and activities/ beauty. Some amazing plants and an expanded conserving. Check it out.

Yelp
A huge park in the middle of downtown Tacoma. The Good- A wide open space amongst the bustling city is a welcome reprove from the insanity of life right now. Playground, pond with ducks, tons of birds and trees and a water feature in the summer. Great little conservatory for plants. The Bad- Upkeep was lacking a bit. Trash here and there and playground equipment was definitely in need of repair/replacing. Uneven walking for kids all around the play area. The Ugly- Frequented by a lot of homeless. Situated in between hospitals and halfway houses this park tends to draw a lot of homeless, drug addicts, mentally unstable people. We witnessed drug use, a person yelling and twitching at themself while walking and multiple people sleeping in random spots. The Skinny- I'd stop in for a quick trip, but wouldn't picnic or have a day date there with anyone. Too sketchy. A lot of other options available nearby.

Sammi V.

Yelp
This park has such a scenic beauty that you would need to go several times to take many pictures. We took our little guy for a early playtime before it gets busy. It can get busy some days and now that it is summer it will get pretty packed. I learned that from my last review the place where my older son used his skateboard was not for skateboards. Sorry for the misguided information. I later realized it was where children play in water during summer months. So that is great. So I guess there is no place for skateboarding. But this park has so many places to walk and see. I am enjoying it so far and look forwarding to visiting again.

Yelp
Several tourists ( with masks) Great views Boy loves the playground Girl saw a bunny and tripped from excitement Yeah I'd come back

Yelp
Wright Park is an outstanding park; a good place to enjoy being outdoors and/or a nice walk. The park has a pond with a bridge over it and ducks in it; there's lots of green grass all around, and hundred of trees that have plaques with their respective 411s. Walkers will find a nice cross-section here of paths which are both easy and challenging. There's even an arboretum! When you visit you'll find lots of different plants, flowers, and trees to learn about and enjoy :-)

Yelp
I've been coming to Wright Park for several years now. I love strolling through beautiful parks(or just plain ones for that matter) and taking in the surroundings. I am a regular customer at Cosmonaut Coffee which is right across from the park so after getting a hot (or cold) beverage I like getting some exercise on the paths through here. I was coming here pretty frequently because for a while lots of people were hiding painted rocks in the area and they were always fun to find AND hide. That seems to kind of died down a lot in popularity but a few still participate. That still leaves the Pokemon Go game and I come here roughly once a month for the Community Days and those are always a lot of fun. Though you can participate with the event on your phone anywhere and in any of the city's parks Wright Park seems to be THE place that the players of the city want to go to. There are a ton of people on these community days and some even dress up as Pokemon for the event. There are more official events here as well. One that I remember more out of the others is the food truck festival that is held here in the summer. There is also a conservatory here too where you pay $3 and you can go explore. Other features in the park is a duck pond with footbridge, a variety of hardwood trees that are beautiful in the Autumn when the leaves change, statues, benches, a bowling green, benches and other enhancements for the park. Despite me having a real fondness for the park I have had trouble with panhandlers here. Part of it is the downtown area, the city, a hospital nearby that treats patients with various mental health issues and so on. Most of the time you can get away with not much problem but there is one individual who will aggressively pursue you. The more interacting you do with her the worse the situation becomes. In fact ignoring her and going across the street can be challenging as well because she will aggressively follow you. I've run into her a couple of times here. Aside from that the park seems relatively safe and is enjoyable. This past weekend (10/21/2018) was a Pokemon Community event. The city had several days of heavy fog. The trees in the park are also changing at this time and with the combination of the two resulted in a beautiful, atmospheric setting. Yes, I can multitask and enjoy the scenery and play Pokemon Go... I can't vouch for anybody else though. lol

Yelp
I passed through Wright Park while I took a long stroll around Tacoma like a tourist. It was pouring, but it looked like a great little park in the middle of the city. It has some small rolling hills, some beautiful trees (which at this time of year were littering the ground with rainbows of leaves) and what looked like some kind of greenhouse?! But I cannot be sure. However, I can be sure this park gets good use when the weather is better. Bottom line: Great park!

Savannah L.

Yelp
Wright Park is absolutely lovely. I visit this park weekly, and always find something new to love. The pod has a red wing blackbird couple, several turtles, too many hand fed ducks, and a visiting Heron. I've seen hawks, warblers, and brown creepers. It's so wonderful to walk among the trees, some 120+ years old and from all around the world. My only complaint is that it has a playground and spray park frequented by children whose joyful squeals drowns out the bird song....

Sam C.

Yelp
Great for kids, beautiful scenery for adults fun for all ages. From the play ground to the water play area, the pretty pont to the amazing 100 year old trees. This park has really gone uphill over the years. Visit the greenhouse as well, cute.

Amy M.

Yelp
Write park is scenic with classic art nouveau accents and updated modern playgrounds and restrooms. It also has a mini outdoor water playground. Convenient location in downtown tacoma. There is an adorable green house with interesting plant species. It's a smaller collection, but it's still very fun and whimsy. I've noticed there's a Bocce field at one end of the park. It's gated and I have never observed anyone utilizing it. Looks very well kept, I'll have to round up some friends and a bocce set one of these days. One of my favorite aspects of the park is the pond. Lovely duck families populate the English garden-esque pond which is haloed with a romantic bridge and an accompanying statue that dates the 1890's era park. There are plenty of picnic tables, horse shoe throws and benches here. I don't like to stay long due to the fact that many homeless people and/or druggies inhabit the park. Every time I've been here I have been approached by a homeless person asking for something (my phone, money, a ride, etc.) I don't mind them most of the time when they just ask for change and then carry on, but when they are intoxicated and violent I get uncomfortable, naturally. That is why this park is docked -2 stars. Also, the crows are violent to humans. Serious physical harassment! One day a woman walked past me and my guy as we were walking on the outer main path (in the middle of the day) and she screamed, "GOD, YOU MAKE ME SICK." I don't know what her troubles are, but I felt unsafe and offended.

Yelp
This place is fabulous! Easy to get to without hitting a ton of freeway traffic and plenty of free street parking. Lotsssss of walking trails (through open grassy spaces, not like hiking or anything), a small pond with a cute little bridge, and one of the best playgrounds + water spray parks in Tacoma! It is one of the only playgrounds that's shaded, so you & your littles aren't sunburnt and heatstroking after 10 minutes. The playground has lots of cool and unique features including a giant outdoor xylophone, a wheelchair accessible swing, and a cool spinning net thing. There is a large play structure for older kids as well as a toddler appropriate structure that's bigger and better than most I've seen for the 2-and-under crowd. The toddler part of it has lots of different climbing features ("rock wall", rope climb, stairs, etc.) as well as several long ramps that are perfect for new walkers (& is wheelchair accessible!). The spray park is never as crowded and crazy as I expect it to be, in fact it's one of the less insane ones in Tacoma. It's not quite as big as some of the others, but it's almost completely enclosed by a half-wall, which keeps the little ones contained and also provides easy, close-by seating. This is a great spray park for toddlers as it has lots and lots of low volume water features (ie little water jets coming out of the ground, etc) that aren't intimidating or too challenging for their clumsy and curious selves! :) In the fall, this park is GEORGOUS!! It is FULL of big giant trees whose leaves look beautiful changing color! I love it so much that when I got married in Tacoma last October, I had all of our professional wedding photos taken here-- the autumn leaves made for such an incredible backdrop! It's perfect for family photography and senior portraits, etc too because the park is big & spread out enough that you don't have to worry about getting a random picnic table, garbage can, or group of people in the background of your shot. There are lots of different areas to choose from and literally every single part of the park would work for pictures! Obviously I love this place. The only negative thing I can say is that there are often some questionable-looking people around, so I keep my purse & stroller closeby and always lock my car. But I've never felt unsafe or overly worried, in fact the few homeless gentlemen I've talked to there were very kind and kept to themselves.

Yelp
How have I never reviewed this place? It's been a part of my consciousness since before I can remember--literally, my mom still loves to tell stories about me at Wright Park that I can't remember happening. Evidently, the two nymph (or whatever) statues on the north side used to strike me as creepy old women hiding in the bushes when I was little. They don't anymore, and not just because they cut down the bushes. I'm older and wiser, and can tell the difference between statues and people. But this place still makes me feel connected to my youth, even though they have improved it immeasurably since I was young. They significantly reinforced the banking around the duck pond about ten years ago, adding a cool little footbridge over it. By and large, the rest of the place is the same--you get dozens of lush green trees, and even more than that in the summer when the deciduous residents of the park leaf out again. There's that duck pond, and there's an extremely cool greenhouse, and a handy little playground. There are many pockets of green space among the trees, zig-zagging gravel paths, and an appealing small playground. My goddaughter and her family used to live in north Tacoma, and I can remember swinging her in the swings here when she was young. They moved far away, and, when they came back to visit, we brought her here to feed the ducks. There are a couple good places not far from here when you can get healthful bird food--evidently, the stale bread we used to feed them when I was little is not exactly nutritious. They do better with millet, or corn. And, as it turns out, I don't need to have kids with me to enjoy feeding the ducks. I fed them most of ten pounds of corn this weekend and never got tired of it. In fact, I was more worried that the ducks might get full and wander off before I ran out of corn. It's an age-old memory that never fails to delight me. Given that bird food is about 70 cents a pound, it makes me a pretty cheap date, too. This is not the biggest part around, and certainly has fairly narrowly-focused features. But it's a great break from whatever else happens to occupy your day in Tacoma, whether it's food or errands or sight-seeing or whatever it might be. And for some of us, it's a soothing connection with secure, happy memories that stretch back beyond our consciousness to earliest childhood.

Brian U.

Yelp
The key features of the park are the conservatory (aka fancy greenhouse) with $3 admission, duck pond with footbridge, children's play area, and green for lawn bowling. Alongside Tacoma General Hospital, the park is a good respite when making long visits to a loved one. Also near probably the best-looking feature of Tacoma, Stadium High School - originally built by the railroads as a grand hotel. The neighboring bayside football field was also used in the movie "10 Things I Hate About You" with Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon Levitt.

Meaghan B.

Yelp
I live across the street from this park. I've loved it since I first moved to the neighborhood and love it even more now that they've improved it some and included a play area to keep the kids happy. In the fall, this place has amazing foliage. There are so many different kinds of trees that there's always something changing color and dropping leaves everywhere. Though, this does mean that in the evenings and on weekends, local photographers pack into the place with families that are a little too well-dressed for the park and get cranky when you, you know, actually use the park to play or run or whatever. In the winter, the orb-light-fixtures shine in the barren trees at night in a way that I thought only existed in strange art-house French films. It's beautiful in the snow, too. In the spring, this place turns amazingly green and the ducks go wild quacking and waddling everywhere. Beware the cranky geese, though. In the summer, this place is overrun with children and families - the splash park looks fun but I know a few kids that picked up fungal infections from it, be careful. Also, the wet kids go run on the dry playstructure and kids that don't want to play in the water can't avoid getting wet when all of the swings, slides, and equipment is soaked from water balloons and wet kids. You can grab a coffee from Satellite and walk around, watch some ducks, or wander through the conservatory. You can bring some balls and play in the lawn bowling area. There's basketball courts and a play structure. Bathrooms on site, which is always a plus for a park. Parking is street parking - which can get a little crowded in the summer. Just don't park in my spot in front of my building okay? And don't let your photographer yell at my kid for playing in the park across the street from his place.

Julie S.

Yelp
I love this park. On the edge of downtown and North Tacoma, it beckons to the weary worker as well as the families out for a fun day. Great trails crisscross the park. There are plenty of benches and tables, with some located in the shade, in the sun, by the playground, and isolated. Something for everyone. Great collection of trees and flowers, even a conservatory. There's a duck pond with a nice bridge across and fountain. Great place to have lunch, walk or jog, or hang out with family and friends.

Lisa L.

Yelp
This inner-city park just went through some beautification, the area around the pond is gorgeous. It's also home to some century-old statues and conservatory that houses more than 300 blooming plants. Check the conservatory out for a suggested donation of $4. Nice place for a stroll on a sunny day.

Rachel M.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to take our family to Wright Park to see the conservatory. Honestly the Conservatory was the best part of the entire experience. It got a bit crowded in there but the plants were in full bloom and the Koi fish were fun to feed. After leaving the conservatory our experience began to dwindle. There were a lot of bums hanging out in the park just drifting around. I couldn't shake the feeling that we weren't fully safe there. We went to go enjoy the children's playground area for our daughter but even there some shady looking people were floating around. I didn't want to take my eyes off my daughter (not that I ever would) and my wife and I both agreed that we didn't feel comfortable there. To make things worse on our way back to the car we noticed some sketchy business going on outside of one of the apartment buildings. The sad part was the building was so historic and architecturally nice that it was shocking to see. I suppose I have to chalk it up as its "not my scene" but it was a shame because the park and area in general has so much potential but I just can't justify spending time in a place where I (and my family) don't feel safe.

Monica B.

Yelp
I don't spend a lot of time in Tacoma so I'm not familiar with the parks. I found myself in the area looking for a place to eat my lunch. The park was much bigger than it seemed from my view on the main road. Picnic tables were spread out around the area. There is a good balance of open space where you can catch some sun and shaded spots with tree cover. I ran into a rather aggressive squirrel that demanded food. Seriously, he stared me down. A few ducks wandered around as I ate my lunch. Down the hill, there is a small duck pond. On the other side of the park, is a water feature where children splash around. I had a peaceful lunch and enjoyed my short stay here. I would definitely come again to explore a bit more since I saw the greenhouse but didn't get a chance to go in.

Jamie A.

Yelp
Love this park!! This is such a fun place to play on toys or lay in the grass in the summer. There's a pond that is quite nice, and there's also the Wright Park Conservatory, which is full of gorgeous plants and flowers. I have enjoyed many walks in this park, and in the summer, there are events in the park that are fun! The park is located in Tacoma, but it is perfectly safe and worth a visit... or two... or three!

Mikea R.

Yelp
Very big and cool park. I came here for a festival. This park is a nice place to take a stroll or take a little walk.

Angela B.

Yelp
Pro's: 1. Good place for a run or walk. 2. Perfect for sledding in the winter. 3. Conservatory is warm and full of colorful flowers. 4. Great for people watching. 5. Lush and well manicured. 6. Statue at the front entrance were recently restored and look perfect. 7. If you live in the historical district of Tacoma it is a perfect location for a urban park. Con's: 1. The occasional bums. 2. Duck poop. 3. Sometimes gets too busy. 4. Not enough disposal areas for dog bags.

Fonda P.

Yelp
I used to live a few blocks from this park. It is a beautiful park. You must visit the conservatory. It Is prettiest in the spring. You can see giant lemons on the lemon tree and sometimes they have those plants that you touch, and the leaves curl in. It really looks like the plant is moving. Wright Park also has a bangin' meticulously manicured bocci court that never seems to be used except for one or two days a week for just a couple of hours. I have admittedly on several occasions hopped over the locked fence to play a match or two. They added a mini outdoor water playground a few years back. Kids seem to enjoy that. I would not frequent this park at night, but I don't think I would go to any park when the sun goes down. A very pleasant place to be indeed. Also, looking for a great breakfast after walking the park? Try out the HobNob. Just across the street from the lion statues on 6th avenue. You will be glad you did.

Malcolm L.

Yelp
A great place to come with the family, or a weekend walk. They have a number of walking paths and some fantastic fountains. One of the great things to do during the summer are the outdoor movies. Make sure you come early as it can be bussy. The only negative about the part are some of the people that are wonder, however that is with anywhere so just be aware.

marcy g.

Yelp
Love the park, the play area and the spray park. But we went on a hot Sunday and there were many kids without adult supervision. I helped a crying 2 year old find a parent after she was crying and far away from anyone she knew. Wild kids, disrespectful kids and a lot of them. It made me sad but also mad that it didn't feel safe for us.....

Tracie G.

Yelp
I like the walking path at this track. It's peaceful. Has its inclines and declines but there was one thing I didn't like.... And I know it's a preference thing but I strongly dislike gravel trails :( My shoes and dog were all muddy and we still had to get in my car so if you bring your dog make sure you bring a towel or something for him/her to lay on and an extra pair of shoes so your car don't get dirty..... But other than that.. Yes, very nice trail.

Lisa R.

Yelp
What a pretty, enjoyable park. I've only been once but I feel compelled to add my two cents. Wright Park reminds me of Manito Park in Spokane. Old trees, lots of grass for lounging, an adorable pond, arboretum, and more. The highlight for me and my young ones was the water play area. Very awesome. Lots of water fountain features to entertain them and areas for the parents to sit (though I say why not bring your swimsuit and get wet yourself??). We didn't get to stay for long but I could easily see making an afternoon of it and having a picnic under those big trees, playing some catch or frisbee and playing in the water. This is a gorgeous park that surpasses the beauty of many Seattle parks by far. Are all Tacoma parks this nice? I'm now on a mission to find out. And in the meantime we WILL be returning to this one.

Jami L.

Yelp
Great park, like a mini Boston Common. Lots of benches and picnic tables and a pond with ducks and turtles. Mature trees and statues and landscaping. Lots of weddings. A playground and a botanical garden. Great place for a picnic or to bring kids and family. There are some wierdos around and its not in the best neighborhood but its pretty enough that you kind of forget all that.

Misty M.

Yelp
Wright Park is pretty cool. It's home to several of Washington's Champion Trees. There's a little self-guided tree tour you can do to look at them all too! The wi-fi is just insane, but at least I can do homework here if I'm so inclined. Not to mention this park has the conservatory, which is something that if you're in Tacoma you should come see (just don't go out of your way to see it.) It's a good park to take a stroll in on a nice day, but at night, it's a nice park to get creeped out by passing through. It's been cleaned up quite a bit even since I moved to Tacoma a few years ago, but there is still a lot of work to be done in my opinion. As one of Tacoma's major parks, it definitely serves as a nice oasis in this end of town.

bob c.

Yelp
I found Wright Park in 1986. It was different then. But like an old friend, it is still quite recognizable. The sunlight still slants lazily through the trees and the squirrels are unaware that they are just endless copies... just as we are. Only the giant trees know how fast we come and go. They just stand there, gently swaying in the breeze. Dreaming the centuries away. Trees and seagulls and dragon flies. Immortals. See them there.

Michael K.

Yelp
As a follow up to Susan's review - I feel that she must have been referring to all the Tacompton Ladies, because frankly, there's nothing stealth about the blokes relieving themselves in the middle of the sandbox. It has really been a pleasure, however, to see the change over the last eight years - As I never would have considered wandering around the park after midnight when I first got to Tacoma for college, but at this point, I feel relatively safe. It's true, nefarious characters do still show up at times, but most of them are my friends =P **A special shout-out to the 50 year old woman on the swingset who told us about the collosally huge atom-smashing machine that exists underground. Nothing really beats a good, healthy dose of crazy. Oh and while it's light out, the park is good for families! And go on Sundays between about 10am and 2pm... although I'm not going to tell you why...

Julie S.

Yelp
Tacoma's Vintage Sculpture Park. Near Multicare and Good Health, it serves as a good place to stroll during breaks and lunch for patients and employeed alike. It's a short perimeter around (less than a mile) but I love looking at the Greecian-inspired style sculptures that are sprinkled throughout this park. (I also love the brick building across from the park that honors all the contributors to electricity -- namely watt, tesla, etc.). There's a small pond with ducks. There's a playground available for the children. There's also an arboretum available to visit via donation. This park is a nice break in this busy part of town.

Yelp
Wright park is one of the largest parks in the Tacoma area. It is beautiful to stroll through the park on the gravel pathways on any day of the year. Take in the duck pond or the ornate statues. Bring your horseshoes and have a game. Visit the green house. In the summer, take your kids to the playground area where they have installed a water feature park for the kids to get wet and stay cool. There is so much to actually see and do here. Every year, the cultural ethnic fest is put on in this park and on several occasions throughout the year, you can stumble upon live music being played in the park too. It's a really nice area to spend some time exploring and there are a lot of activities to keep you occupied. Thanks for reading and Enjoy!

Yelp
Great place for a picknick, then send the kids over to the Waterpark. Then also check out the conservatory, lots of really cool and different plants.

Yelp
I gave this park the highest rating after a visit yesterday. The one hundred year old trees were wearing bright fall colors. The park was clean and well kept. The conservatory is a treasure! What's truly remarkable is that the citizens of Tacoma have managed to thwart the vagrant invasion which threatened to ruin this park for working people and their families. The tents, garbage, and human waste are gone. Let's hope that the good citizens of Tacoma remain steadfast in their resolve to keep and defend their public parks.

Yelp
A treasure for the city. Walking paths, fountains, playground, summer sprayground, sledding during rare snow days, festivals, outdoor movies. Be wary of the occasional riff raff hanging out.

Yelp
This beautiful urban park reminds me of England. I've never been to England, but the pond, the marble statuary, the paths through huge maples, sequoias and horse chestnut, the conservatory! This is the kind of park you take your out-of-town aunt to, and walk the nicely maintained paths after your coffee (which I'd recommend you get from Sattelite across the street). The conservatory is gorgeous in any season, has a gift shop full of expensive pretty things, and has fish food for the kids to feed the koi. I know a couple of people who have been robbed in the neighborhood late at night, one about 20 years ago and one 15ish years back. I've spent a fair amount of time in the park during after-dark hours (working nights means weekend walks and recreation happen at night, too!), and I've never had a bad experience or felt uncomfortable there. Bad stuff can happen anywhere, and you should always be aware and safe... use common sense and keep your eyes open, but don't let it stop you from enjoying a park as lovely as this!

Yelp
Favorite Wright Park experience: 10 friends playing cartoon freeze tag after midnight. Good times. It's funny, but this park is like a friend. Comfortable, familiar, ...beautiful and always there for you. I love Wright Park.

Yelp
Our family has been to this park a few times and we genuinely enjoy it. The play area is great for kids of varying ages. Our two year old has a blast. The pond, trails, and grassy areas make for an expansive area to explore. I can only imagine how packed it gets during the summer with the fun splash pad and the cool shade under the massive trees. The only down side to the park is the homelessness and parking. We have never had issues finding street parking but I'm sure it can be troublesome. We will keep coming back to this park.

Yelp
Wright Park is one of the reasons I live in the North End of Tacoma! Beautiful park that is being updated with new facilities to make it more welcoming to visitors. The Seymour Botanical Conservatory is a fantastic place to spend a few minutes or hours looking at all of the plants that are being grown there. There are a lot of walking paths so you can walk around or through the park and enjoy all statues, trees, and small wildlife that call the park home. There is even free WiFi! you can surf the web and write your own Yelp review while in the park. Tacoma is testing WiFi for use in other parks. I love this idea. Like the other reviewers I will address the homeless that frequent the park at night. I would not let my kids run around in the park unattended at night but frankly where would anyone let their kids run around unsupervised at night?
