Highlights

We specialize in Chicago-style Vienna Beef hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches and Maxwell Street Polish sausage. We named our trailer "Wrigleyville South Dogs & Beef" to show our love of baseball and the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs play at Wrigley Field in Wrigleyville, Chicago, and have spring training at "Wrigleyville West" in Mesa, Arizona. We decided there needed to be a "Wrigleyville" in the great city of Austin, Texas too!

As a former Chicagoan I was really excited to try this place. I stopped by with my family on Saturday night 4/13. We ordered the combo Chicago dog with a half Italian beef, an Italian sausage sandwich, pizza puff, fries, churros, and a side of pickles. The gal working said it would be 15 minutes but it ended up being over 30. The Chicago dog was excellent, but I have to rate the Italian beef and Italian sausage 0/10 because we never received them. The fries were overcooked and hard. The pizza puff was good and the kids enjoyed the churros. Ultimately we wanted to love this food truck but almost half our order was omitted so we were effectively robbed.

Google
Taste of Chicago a pizza puff and an order of crinkle fries. Broken down in half so that I could truly enjoy every bit of this miraculous find. Shout out to the lady in her robe! As we drove down Lamar as we do daily, lately. A lady standing outside of a food truck with her family in a robe made me do a double take. I related with her on a level that was extremely humorous. Hours earlier, I was she walking my dog outside my home. My husband had asked what I wanted to eat. I said a hotdog! A native of Chicago, I'm naturally skeptical of a good dog. So here we are, a request for a dog, a lady, after my own heart, standing there getting her fix on. I wanted ,I got , I had! Having my meal brought so much home like feel, it was transforming. I could remember several authentic places in Chicago, and this took me there. Can't wait to bring the family to enjoy the patio seating along with the musical vibe that is Austin. Thank you for bringing a true taste of Chicago to Austin.

Google
We really appreciate a good Chicago Hot Dog, and this place sells the best in town. We've found it difficult to find an authentic, tasty Chicago Hot Dog in Austin. To me, a genuine Chicago Hot Dog has to have the key ingredients: beef hot dog, topped with tomatoes, relish, peppers, onions, dill pickle and sprinkled with celery salt, all in a poppy seed bun. I've found most of the counterfeit hot dogs you'll come across don't use a poppy seed bun. Call me picky, but I feel like that's a basic ingredient to have if you're going to sell Chicago style hot dogs.

Google
The service was so friendly and atmosphere was nice. This was our first time here and it was so good we had to come back again. We ordered the Chicago Hotdog and it is not your typical hot dog, but it was so good. We also ordered the hamburgers which was huge and delicious. Can’t wait to go back to try the pizza.

Gizem Icduygu

Google
The best hot dogs in town! Super cute family owned food truck, they’re always friendly and happy to see you. You can tell the Chicago dogs are made by experts and their toppings are all fresh and high-quality. Our first time there we ordered to-go, but the patio is so nice and peaceful in the evening we ended up staying. These people love what they’re doing and that shines through in their food and their attitude. Definitely recommend.

Google
Owners are super amazing and even went to Hot Dog Academy. I didn't even know that was a thing but the dogs do taste like they involve skills. Instead of ketchup they use tomatoes and I thought it wouldn't be salty enough or just be missing that ketchup umph. Oddly it was even better.

Google
As a fellow Chicagoan—these guys are as close as we can get to a proper dog & beef!

Having been to Chicago, I crave a good hot dog and a good beef, and by god does this place deliver. I just found my new favorite spot!

Yelp
Amazing!!! Good, old-fashioned hot dog! The NYC Dog is simple and classic, and their Italian Beef lives up to the hype! We'll definitely be back.

Tim V.

Yelp
The place has good hot dogs and great fries! Had the Chicago dog and chili dog. The Chicago was a 10! Loved it The guy running the truck was friendly and amazing. If I get a hankering for a hot dog and I am in the area I will be back for sure!

Yelp
Decided to give Wrigleyville another shot after my last visit didn't go so well. I'm happy to say that the experience was much better this trip although there's still room for improvement. The hot dogs here really do have the right stuff for a Chicago garden-style dog, with Vienna-brand wieners. Using a Vienna wiener is really important for a couple reasons. First, the vast majority of Chicago dogs use this particular brand (yes, David Berg is the other wiener you'll see in the Windy City, but Vienna bought them out many years ago). More importantly though, the all-beef sausage is crafted from ground brisket and mixed with its special blend of spices giving the distinctive flavor. Of course, all of the other requisite ingredients made their appearance: yellow mustard, relish, onions, tomato slices, dill spear and sport peppers, all nestled atop a poppy seed bun. The bun was soft and felt like it was steamed as it should be (I didn't confirm with the counter staff) but overall, I thought it was a very good rendition of the Chicago dog. Crinkle cut fries came out piping hot. I was a bit disappointed however with the Italian beef. The sliced meat used in the sandwich was high quality but the au jus that the beef was cooked in was more salty than flavorful and was missing the traditional spices. Also, I don't care for the red sweet peppers used on the sandwich. Sweet peppers used on this particular sandwich are normally green bell peppers that have been cooked in the au jus just enough to soften them and eliminate the crunch. Giardiniera (the "hot" pepper mix) was decent. The sandwich was a bit of a miss for me. Nevertheless, I think that this is one of the best places for a Chicago hot dog in Austin and for that I am appreciative for a little taste of home. Wrigleyville South is Recommended.

Yelp
These hot dogs were too great. 10/10 food and service. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for Chicago style hot dogs

Michaela P.

Yelp
Nice little food truck with a taste of Chicago. Like the limited menu. Friendly service and good prices. I enjoyed my Chicago dog immensely. Will try the Italian beef next time.

Alex L.

Yelp
Good tasty hot dogs! It got a lot of tables during lunch. Staff is nice. I was surprised that there was no line. I was skeptical, but I was surprised.

John E.

Yelp
A well-executed hot dog, Chicago-style. I found it reminiscent of Portillo's hot dog - a go-to for me in the Chicago area. I appreciate that they had outdoor seating available, also.

Chris M.

Yelp
I'm from the Midwest. I love Chicago Dogs. I've eaten quite a bit of those growing up and I miss them. So I was excited to see a food trailer offer these up. The last Chicago Dog I had in Austin was several years ago at a place called "Frank's" located downtown - I'm not sure if they're still around -- but I did meet that owner and complimented him on his solid Chicago Hot Dog. Service was great here, the guy had good energy, he was patient, he told me the best sellers, and I ordered the Chicago Dog, It came out in a jiffy. Overall - I was really disappointed with the product. It didn't meet expectations. It has the right stuff, but the hotdog itself was so small, the bun overpowered it, and after looking at some of the other hotdog pictures where the hotdog looks so large marge - my hotdog was not. So I was confused. I ate through it and could barely get that hotdog texture and taste. It was also slightly overcooked, the bun was not as fresh but still manageable to eat. I didn't get my hotdog fix here. And I'm not going to pay an extra $1 to add one hotdog in to make it more robust because I can't justify the price for what you get. So I ended up heading over to Costco for their all beef Hotdog (comes with a drink) and that's only $1.50. And let me tell you - when I eat their hotdog I can taste that mystery meat, I can taste the hotdog, it's got great flavor and it's really robust, and the bread and ingredients are secondary. That's the feeling I am used to getting when I've had Chicago Dogs in the past but unfortunately this one came up way short and I'm definitely not getting enough for the money. The friendly fast service bumped this up from 1 to 2-stars. Bottom line here is if I got a bigger and better hotdog here - more of the good stuff - more substance - it would have made this a much better experience. It's kinda like going to a burger joint and getting a really thin burger patty but a nice big bun with lots of toppings - and you can barely taste the burger. Meh.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Im a regular Get the taste of Chicago!!! You won't regret it !

Sergio B.

Yelp
Wrigleyville South is the real deal! I can honestly say I felt at home! Coming from the Windy City my self I had to wonder where can I find great foods only Chicago's known for? Well thanks to Yelp I let my thumbs do the walking. And now that I had the opportunity to get hooked up with this place. Of course I played it safe and just asked for the hot dog and fries. Definitely it's a Vienna Beef Hot Dog with all the trimmings. As we all know never ever put ketchup on your Hot Dog! Mind you I will go back to try the Italian Beef and Combo. The service was excellent!! We went there at a perfect time because while we waited We were informed that there was a live band playing inside a very cozy bar right there in the same lot filled with friendly people What a perfect early Saturday afternoon for us.

Joel F.

Yelp
As a lifelong Chicago visitor having family up there and spending so much of life visiting, I can honestly say we finally have a legit Chicago Dog place in ATX. I will be back to try the Italian beef. Service was amazing too.

Nicole V.

Yelp
Terry and Brian are so sweet and the food is legit! So good I want some Italian beef catered for our Superbowl party next weekend!!!

Victor H.

Yelp
(From June 2021) Realized that while writing this review, I've shortened my life by 72 minutes after consuming 2 of these chicago bad boys. Eh, YOLO! Anyways, this food truck is in the Rainey street food truck lot and one of the many abundance of eats you can find here in this great location in a great city. Show up and get your grub on, then mosey onto the numerous bars/clubs, then come back for your drunk munchies. The chicago hot dog is a staple in American eats so I was delighted when I saw this truck here. While the hot dogs aren't as great as chicago does, it's still delicious and done traditionally where it's dragged through the garden giving all the necessary fixings. I thought of doing the Italian beef but it might've been too much for me. But hey, if you're gonna shorten your life, might as well live it up!

Raul M.

Yelp
Great find! Totally reminds me of Chicago. Hidden gem. No wait. Friendly staff. You have to try

Jane O.

Yelp
Tasty dogs and Philly beef. Fast, friendly service. $17 seems to be the going rate for these food truck sandwiches. This was the best sandwich out of the three I've had recently.

Ky C.

Yelp
Went to this food truck craving a hot dog, and this hit the spot. My boyfriend was stoked to see they served italian beef, apparently there's not a lot of places in Austin that serve italian beef sandwiches. Either way, he said it was very good. Also, as we were eating I'm not sure whether the man was the owner or just the chef, but he came out of the truck multiple times to make sure everyone was satisfied with their food, a small but very caring and meaningful gesture that reminded me to continue eating local. Will definitely go again the next time a hot dog craving hits.

Ziyad N.

Yelp
Real Chicago dogs, worth every penny. Great staff. Highly recommend. Better with beer.

Daniel C.

Yelp
Service great, promptness great, Chicago dog great, lost a point on the Italian beef. Was lacking beef imo, flavor was there but just needed a little more. Will be coming back.

Nelson K.

Yelp
Found this place just driving by. Super nice guy took my order and brought it out to my car when it was ready. Tried the taste of Chicago which was a chicago style hot dog and half of Italian beef sandwich with dip. Also had the chilli cheese fries. The dip and beef was super tasty and flavourful. The dog was similar to what I've had at portillos. Would definitely come again if I'm ever again in Austin.

Sam R.

Yelp
Very few places have stood out so much that I have taken the time to log into yelp and write a review. I have ordered from Wriggleyville so many times on Uber Eats that I got a notification that I'm in their top x% of customers. There is not a single place I have frequented as regularly as here. My guilty pleasure is ordering a couple of the Ditka jumbo polish sausages on the weekend. I often receive a friendly note from the owners with my order. I used to live just outside of Chicago and can tell you this place is LEGIT. I get the jumbo polish sausage with Chicago style toppings and it never fails to hit the spot.

Brad R.

Yelp
The hot dogs are amazing, but, sliiiightly over priced relative to portion size. Taste great overall and would highly recommend if you want a great hot dog. The Chicago dog, polish dog and chili cheese dog are fire.

John M.

Yelp
Growing up in the Chicago area, Chicago Dogs, Maxwell St. Polish Sausage, Italian Beef Sandwiches were a staple. Nowhere else compared until Wrigleyville South Dogs on S. Lamar. They even had poppyseed buns, lime fluorescent green sweet relish and sport peppers Brought back many flavorful memories. Price was a little high. Recommend to Chicago visitors or transplants.

Gnet A.

Yelp
Before I begin this review, let me make it known that my husband and I are Chicago natives and we love and know our favorite foods very well. Nothing compares to our home Italian beef, pizza, Vienna beef dogs & Chinese food. Lol The peeps running the show in the food truck are great y'all. They care what you think, they are very nice and they're trying to get even more items from Chicago! All they are missing is the cheese sauce and pizza puffs. I'm hopeful! Lol So....my husband had the Italian beef with all the works, juice included, and he gives the food 4 out of 5 because he feels it can use a little more meat and we're not used to the prices BUT the food is yummy and they're the best we've had of Chicago food in Texas. I had my Chicago dog but only with mustard & pickle. (Yes, that's all I put on my dog lol) it was delicious. The bun had the seeds and it was soft and warm like it should be. Also, the Vienna is legit with the snap when you bite it. Best dog you can get is a Vienna dog. We will definitely be returning and I highly recommend it over any of the others. Also, if you're looking for the truck just follow directions for Genies car wash and they're right there. They do have a couple of covered picnic tables for seating.

Ryan Q.

Yelp
A quick food truck respite in the middle of a day long bender on Rainey had me munching on a Wrigleyville glizzy. You get exactly what you expect, a damn delectable drunk dog. Lotta options as far as toppings go and dog styles go, and they even offer some sandwiches, which will have you debating with your equally buzzed buddies about whether a hotdog is a sandwich. Would recommend. Thumbs up.

Thao T.

Yelp
The guy taking orders was super nice and helpful Customer service here is 5/5 for sure. I got the taste of Chicago and both the hot dog and sandwich were pretty good. The food was pipping hot when I got it which was great cause it was really cold out. Would highly recommend this place!

Betty C.

Yelp
Got the Taste of Chicago, which was half of Italian beef sandwich, and a chicago style hot dog. Also got the chili cheese fries. It was so delicious! The Italian beef was so good with the jus, and the hot dog was not too greasy either. Hits the spot! The owner is also super nice, offered to bring it to our car. This place is a gem!

Rachel H.

Yelp
Honestly dank ass hotdogs. If you're craving one, go here! It just feels right to order a hot dog from a food truck

Li T.

Yelp
I grew up in a southwest suburb of Chicago, called Homer Glen. There's a beef sandwich on every corner, usually next to a dry cleaners. I grew up living between Pop's and Mr. Beef's. It's a way of life. I've lived in Austin since 2000, and I've never been able to get a real beef with giardiniera. We actually make our own giardiniera and put it on basically everything. So when my husband told me there was a real Chicago beef truck only a 5 minute walk away I frankly didn't believe him. I guess I didn't realize how much this meant to me, but I cried before we left to go pick up the beef. I also cried walking down Lamar to pick up the beef, while walking back home with the beef, and while eating the beef. I apparently have strong feelings about beef sandwiches. ANYway, I am beyond happy to report that THIS IS A LEGITIMATE CHICAGO ITALIAN BEEF WITH GIARDINIERA. It's juicy and they even give you extra juice. The giardiniera is spicy. The beef is delicious. I wanted to talk to Brian and Teri but I could not because I was obviously barely holding it together. I could only offer a bland smile. So here I will say: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you for bringing a little bit of home down here to we displaced Chicagoland-ians. I'm so thankful that my southside heart almost doesn't care that it's Cubs themed.

Ashley J.

Yelp
This place. SOOO good! The guy running it is super nice and helpful. The Italian beef sandwich was DUMB DELICIOUS. There, I said it. I guess I need to drop my car to get washed more often so I can enjoy the rest of the menu. 5 stars way up!

Tim J.

Yelp
This place is solid! Get the Italian beef sammy with giardiniera peppers! The meat is well flavored and the bread is really good. I would love to see Italian sausages added to the menu. I am stoked that this joint is in the neighborhood.

Caroline C.

Yelp
A taste of Chicago in Austin!!! The Chicago hot dog made with real Vienna beef is so to die for.

Alan C.

Yelp
If you are looking for this, it's now in the parking lot of the Saxon Pub on S. Lamar. The Chicago dog was just like the ones I would get at the Chicago airport. I really like the taste contrast from sweet relish and sour pickle in the same bite. Then the dog fills your mouth with umami flavors as you chew.

Paula S.

Yelp
I'm married to a Chicagoan, and we order both Chicago-dog kits and Italian beef kits from Portillos. The Wrigleyville South food truck was like a visit to Portillos, indeed! Plus, because it was in the parking lot of the Saxon Pub, we got to listen to live music while we ate! If you're a lover of Chicago food, you won't be disappointed. Now, if only we had a decent deep-dish pizza place in town ...

Gina G.

Yelp
Great place! Authentic Chicago hot dogs, good food and nice staff. The owners are very cool. Will be back!

Bob G.

Yelp
I ordered the combo sausage and beef It was delicious. Perfect in every way Giardiniera peppers. Au jus on side Crinkle cut fries!!!! Nice to see Chicago food available in ATX

Dan S.

Yelp
LEGIT!! Just had the Chicago Dog/ Italian Beef combo at Wrigleyville South - and all I can say is, I will be back. This is 100% legit Chicago style food served by some seriously nice folks. Don't be fooled by it being a food truck outside of Genie Carwash, this is as good as it gets folks. Go enjoy, then thank me later.

Brittany A.

Yelp
This place is awesome. The food is delicious and the owners are lovely people. Today Teri threw in some free butter cookies with my order for Valentine's Day! Both Brian and Teri always have a smile and a kind word for their customers. My favorites are the Chicago Fire spicy dog and the good old regular Chicago Dog. The crinkly fries are also great - fat and crispy. I'm so glad this wonderful little truck is in my neighborhood. Everyone should eat here!

Leah G.

Yelp
Great food and friendly owners! The beef was perfectly juicy. Truly tasted like home. The spicy Ditka was also very tasty- I could eat 10! The giardiniera here is a must. Order the cheese to go with your fries and enjoy!!

Abubu A.

Yelp
Italian beef could be better but dogs are the best I've ever had. Use to for business travel to Chicago all the times and I love Chicago for the dogs and this definitely took me back so thank you! The polish dogs are amazing and if you like spicy ask for extra hot peppers on side cause his hot peppers are amazing! Customer service here is really really good. Will be back and have told a lot of people about y'all! Again amazing food--try it out!!

Kaitlin A.

Yelp
This chicago girl just found a piece of home in ATX!!! If you've moved from Illinois to Texas and are craving home...GO HERE!!! We moved to ATX from Chicago and have to say this place is AMAZING! We've searched far and wide for Vienna beef hot dogs here and couldn't find them until we were on Vienna's website and searched where to buy local. This place popped up! We will definitely be back! Mental note taken: THEY CATER!

Ainsley D.

Yelp
Owners are super amazing and even went to Hot Dog Academy. I didn't even know that was a thing but the dogs do taste like they involve skills. Instead of ketchup they use tomatoes and I thought it wouldn't be salty enough or just be missing that ketchup umph. Oddly it was even better.

Kris W.

Yelp
This is the most delicious food truck in Austin and I cannot get enough! Just had their newest menu item, the chili cheese fries and am in heaven... love love love Wrigleyville South Dogs and Beef!!!

Andrew M.

Yelp
So great having authentic Chicago style food in austin. Tried this place today and will be coming back often. A must try for anyone familiar with Chicago food!

Josh G.

Yelp
This place is legit! I've been looking for a good Italian beef for a while in Austin and I found this place sadly about a month before we're moving . The menu is a great deal. The taste of Chicago is great - a whole dog and 1/2 beef for $9?! What a steal. And both were great. I'll def be back before we head out in a few weeks.

Grant T.

Yelp
This place is the bomb!! Most authentic italian beef and Chicago Dog i've had outside of Chicago (probably cause the owners are from Chicago). And the prices aren't bad either. If you want a little bit of both, try the Taste of Chicago -- comes with an small italian beef and a full chicago dog for $9.00. But don't skip the other menu items too... The Frito pie is also amazing as is the rodeo dog. Everyone who works here is super friendly too. I would suggest that they get better signage cause it's a bit hard to see from the road and they have the food truck positioned perpendicular to the street instead of parallel (least amount of exposure). Other than that, this is an amazing food truck and hope they continue to do well, add more items to their menu and move toward a brick and mortar restaurant!

Laura S.

Yelp
We went here for the first time today and it was wonderful! I'm from Chicago and the food here was authentic! Ordering was easy & the owner super friendly. He delivered our food to us and checked to make sure all was great. We both had the Taste of Chicago combo. The beef sandwiches were delicious - Mine with sweet peppers; his with giardiniera. The Chicago dogs were perfect and yummy! I've never seen a place that has a combo with half a beef sandwich AND a hotdog - just the right amount of food & we get both our favorites to try at the same time! The seating area by the car wash was shady & comfortable. We saw the inside seating & that's a nice option too. We live north, so this was a bit of a drive, but well worth it! I'll be back soon to try out the genie car wash and eat at Wrigleyville again - great experience!

Douglas B. J.

Yelp
Hungry in Austin? Enjoy classic Chicago chow in ATX. I was a visitor to Austin and unfamiliar with the food trailer phenomenon, but it is apparently a big part of the restaurant scene here. Wrigleyville South Dogs & Beef, a newcomer, is a shiny new trailer located on Lamar just south of downtown. As refugees from Illinois, the lure of genuine Vienna Beef products was irresistible to some of my crew so we gave it a try. Two of the menu items were our particular favorites: Chicago style hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches. I love the juicy Italian beef on thick buns but the hot dogs won the popularity contest hands down. The affable owner shared some interesting news: word of mouth was so good in the first week of business that he received a special invitation to temporarily relocate to the prestigious South by Southwest Conference. Must be a pain to haul that trailer around, but I guess you go where the demand is. Anyway, his primary location is a spacious lot with plenty of parking. Multitaskers can get an oil change or car wash while filling up on tasty Chicago grub. In summary, our outside lunch in the warm Texas sun was a great alternative to the typical fast food fare, so big Kudos to Wrigleyville South Dogs & Beef!

N H.

Yelp
From a Chicago girl this place is the perfect solution when I need a little taste of home no one else understands the deliciousness of a dipped Italian beef

Matt W.

Yelp
I would have taken a picture or two, but the Italian beef was looking too damn good! Killer sandwich, super nice owners, great prices. I will definitely visit again!

Paul G.

Yelp
This place is amazing. It is just like home, I was here on business and could have had steak each night. But I had beefs and dogs.
