The Best Bars for Nonalcoholic Cocktails in Singapore | Bon Appétit

"Seated in a grandly arched room dressed in palm leaf wallpaper and tufted leather sofas, I found the Writers Bar—Raffles’s intimate, gentleman-explorer–style haunt—eschewing leather-bound journals and gin gimlets for Moleskines and a thoughtful lineup of eight nonalcoholic cocktails, including an Arabic-influenced zero-proof old-fashioned named for the Ottoman explorer Emin Pasha and bar manager Konstantine Arzumanov’s Strike Slip, a luminous clarification of Lyre’s White Cane spirit with sencha, soursop, and calamansi." - ByAdam Erace

This bar is my absolute favourite in Singapore! The staff are amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and creative! For a quiet and calm atmosphere, but still with sophisticated drinks, Writer’s Bar is the place to go. I would recommend it to anyone, and especially if you like books and literary references, their menu is your go-to choice.

First time at Writers Bar in Raffles hotel. The service was extraordinary. Tasty cocktails. They asked my taste profile before making the drinks to please my taste and the interactions with the bartenders were great. They really explained the concept behind the menu. Will surely visit again soon to try more of their creations. 🤍

Thank you so much Karline (Not sure if I spell his name correctly 😅), Gregor, and another female bartender wearing glasses. My experience is amazing because of all of you.

The Writers Bar at the iconic Raffles Hotel is an absolute must-visit in Singapore for cocktail lovers. Unlike the famous Long Bar (home of the Singapore Sling), this spot feels like a hidden gem, attracting fewer tourists and more locals. It’s the perfect place to kick off an evening, all dressed up, before heading to dinner. The bar’s rich history adds to its charm. Named in homage to the many literary greats who stayed at Raffles—like Rudyard Kipling and Somerset Maugham—it carries an old-world elegance that transports you back to a more glamorous era. The cocktails are nothing short of amazing, but be prepared to splurge a little. I tried their signature cocktail, which was exceptional, and later requested a gin martini—not on the menu—but they crafted it with meticulous attention to detail. If you appreciate great drinks and a bit of history, the Writers Bar is a truly memorable experience!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Writers Bar at Raffles Hotel, and it was truly an exceptional experience. The drinks were crafted to perfection, with precision shown in each cocktail showcasing an exquisite balance of flavours that delighted the palate. The ambience was immaculate — elegant, serene, and steeped in a timeless charm that perfectly complements the iconic setting of Raffles Hotel. It’s the kind of place where you can sink into a comfortable chair and feel transported to a world of sophistication and relaxation. A special mention must go to Tashena, whose impeccable service elevated our visit. She was attentive, warm, and knowledgeable, ensuring every aspect of our time there was flawless. Her recommendations were spot on, and her friendly demeanor added a personal touch to the evening. Writers Bar is a must-visit for anyone seeking a refined and memorable experience here in Singapore. I’ll definitely be back!

A swanky little nook of the most elite hotel in Singapore, I visited Writer’s Bar after a failed attempt to walk-in to the Long Bar for the famous Singapore Sling. It just so happened that The SG Club — from Tokyo — was having a pop-up that night, and each cocktail was going for 30 a pop (before tax and service charge). I tried the Sipping Chu-Hi, and Lees in Wax. My preference is for the latter; the white chocolate coated on the cocktail glass provided another hit of sweetness to round off the also sweet and creamy drink. The service is what you pay service charge for: attentive, friendly, and never having your water glasses empty. The cocktails were accompanied by a proper platter of olives, vegetable chips, and walnuts that never seemed to diminish. Nothing to nitpick about this one, I will definitely be back for more cocktails when I’m in the area.
