New Beer Garden Wrong Iron is Coming to the Lafitte Greenway - Eater New Orleans

"Wrong Iron is a beer garden set to open by the end of the year. It will feature an outdoor space with fire pits and games, an indoor bar area modelled after an old-fashioned rail station, and a kitchen and grill for chef pop-ups. The venue will also have spaces for food trucks." - Tim Forster

The ambiance was positive; however, the extended wait times due to understaffing in the kitchen (only three personnel) and intermittent closures to manage order fulfillment negatively impacted the dining experience. The music selection was excellent. Improved kitchen service is required. 🍸 Drinks can be very expensive 😩 . I guess I had a bad experience in the kitchen area 😕 , the bar area was great.

Google
Bay Bridge Art instructed a paint party there last week. The space and the food was amazing. Loved the fried catfish and the beignet fries.

Decided to go to Wrong Iron on a whim and had a great time. There were so many different drink options including NA options. A wonderful employee named Marissa helped me out with options and showed extreme patience and kindness as I could not make up my mind. Marissa suggested one of her favorite options and it is now MY favorite. There was also very good food. There was a delightful scent in the garden and it was all in all wonderful. Never have I been treated so well by a bar tender like Marissa…I wish Michigan had someone like her. Other employees were nice as well.

Google
Wrong iron has amazing drinks that can get very expensive but are good. The bar is always staffed well, and the food in the kitchen is good. I like their nachos, and the funnel fries are bomb. I also like you to get smores and roast them during the winter. It is also a good game or fight night spot because there are tvs everywhere. This is one of my favorite chill, laid-back spots.

Google
Had a surprise party for my husbands 40th and everything went according to plan. The food was great. The staff was friendly. It was one of the best nights of our lives.

Google
Wrong Iron in Mid-City is a fantastic spot for drinks, food, and catching a game. There is plenty of seating and multiple large-screen TVs playing a variety of sporting events. It’s perfect for sports fans and casual gatherings.

Dee Marie

Google
It’s very large so unless it’s game day you can get seating outside easily. Indide can get noisy but overall great beer garden, courteous and helpful staff, and great selection of beers.

Google
We found this place by accident. My husband and I enjoyed burgers and beer one Saturday afternoon. We dined inside and the bartenders working were great. Very attentive and polite. We watched them handle the rush of customers with the sand cars as when it was one or two customers at a time.

Yelp
I absolutely love coming here on game days. I recently came here for Superbowl Sunday. Unfortunately, it started raining so we weren't able to stay for the entire game. There is an inside, outside, and a deck that are all available. You have to reserve seating or get there early enjoy to have a seat before or even during the game. I absolutely love their strawberry margaritas, the frozeas!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to hang out. Beer, burger and wings. Service might seems confusing because of both spot... Overall good lay back spot
google avatar

Yelp
Loved this beer garden. We watched the game outside in one of their multiple screens. Such a cool outdoor space with long tables for big groups. We tried several beers and their expresso martini on tap, it was great. The bar inside was packed but it had a very cozy feeling. The bartenders were great, even gave me a sample of their rosé to taste. Cant recommend enough! The food outside was surprisingly good, we had chicken tenders and shrimp tacos.

Yelp
Football is Almost Back! I'm finally getting around to reviewing this spot, though I've been coming here since last year. It's a fantastic place for NFL Sundays! Even with a packed house, the staff gets the job done--and they do it fast and with a smile. This has become one of my favorite spots to frequent during football season. I've really missed this place, and I can't wait to be back. See you soon!

Yelp
It was taco Tuesday and we enjoyed the food from the contracted providers. There was no guidance we had no idea we had to go outside to order and then return to pick up our food... I only wish there were servers... the food was good and we received it in a timely manner... the drinks were provided by wrong iron very tasteful... fyi this is a cashless establishment only! Great place to watch College Football and NFL games! Many TVs and lots of seating.

Yelp
Overhyped and overpriced. The frozen margarita was extremely tart/sour to the point of being inedible. Witnessed very inappropriate behavior from the bartenders when they continually made passes at a woman alone at the bar, though it was very obvious how uncomfortable she was and unwelcome their comments were. Will not be returning to this place as the whole vibe was low.
google avatar

Bethany L.

Yelp
What a fun spot! While on a long road trip, we stopped to grab dinner and a drink with a great friend and this was one of the spots she recommended! I love the outdoor space - in January, it was definitely chilling, but the fires outside created such a cozy spot to hang out. We were there on a random weeknight, so it was definitely a bit empty (although the bar seemed pretty full); however, I enjoyed a rum punch and the tacos and queso from the food truck! If I were local, I would definitely be a regular here - and it's probably a great place to watch a game.

Yelp
Updating my review because I came back for a book club meeting, against my better judgment. My first visit was when the city was still requiring vaccination cards, and they weren't checking cards or wearing masks indoors. On the list visit, I heard a couple of the male bartenders complaining about how there were too many female employees working that day. Even if you're joking, that's not funny. This place just gives me bad vibes all around.

Yelp
I was headed to Bayou Beer Garden and asked my Uber driver if he happened to have any other suggestions. Best recommendation I've ever been given. Location wise, it's across the street (about a block down) from Bayou Beer Garden and has a parking lot. There are plenty of beer & alcohol offerings, as well as a some heated, indoor seating. For those who want to brave the chill, outdoor fire pits are scattered about to keep you warm. To order food, go to the right as soon as you enter. Drinks, left (this is also where the indoor seating is located). After enjoying a beer, I switched to the Tito's Bramble which was 15oz of pure joy. I had two and as far as I'm concerned, I floated out of there. I happened to run into an old friend, which made the visit even sweeter. Drinks for myself and a round for two friends was only about $70, so the prices weren't bad at all. Hope you enjoy your visit!!

Yelp
Came here with 2 of my friends since one of them lives at the apartment complex across the street. I got 2 Froses, which come in 16 ounce glasses, but is still very reasonably priced. The Froses were very good, but if I come back, I definitely want to try the espresso martini thats on tap. This place also has a very wide variety of beers if that's what you're into. We also got dinner here. The menu is very typical bar food, but that's to be expected. I got the nachos with grilled chicken. They were good, very typical bar nachos. My friends got the waffle fries with cheese and pulled pork. The pulled pork was not very good and the cheese sauce was about what you would expect from a gas station. My other friend got a Ceasar salad, which she said was very good. The seating is all outdoors, but there are lots of fireplaces surrounded by couches to stay warm. The ambiance is very run, kind of rustic. There's cornhole and picnic tables and such. This would be a very fun place to spend the night playing card games and yapping.

Yelp
My favorite drinking hole! I love coming here to relax with my German Shepard and have a beer to watch some sports or talk with the locals
google avatar

Holly P.

Yelp
I visited here for the first time last Friday evening. It was a good crowd of people but the tables and chairs are spaced out enough so you don't feel on top of each other. Most of the seating is outdoors but there are some seats inside. Overall it was chill and casual. The vibes were good. The music wasn't bad. A few people were smoking cigarettes but there was enough space for us to just move and plant down somewhere else. I had the strawberry froze and that tasted good. I also had the tacos. They were quite small. You'd probably need to order at least three to feel like you've eaten something. The tacos were priced a bit high for what you get. One of the ladies I went with ordered the beignet fries and I didn't think they were bad at all. They reminded me more of funnel cake fries. Regarding parking, we were meeting someone who lives in the apartments nearby. So we just walked over but I noticed cars parked all along the side of the street where we walked to get to the place. I hadn't really noticed any parking lot at the place but it's possible that I overlooked it. I would return here to hang out.

Joyce M.

Yelp
Terrible service. We asked if they could change the channel on one TV for a football game and they said no that other people were watching who had been here for longer. Although the game that was playing was on 3 tvs right beside each other and no one was watching them. After an hour of being there they asked that we not be seated at the bar because other tables paid for those seats. Even though we asked the patrons at the other tables who had no issue with us taking them. There was one lady seated at the bar who they did not make leave because she was a regular.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, pricey but tasty food options, and a steady stream of experienced servers that always manage to keep their cool no matter how busy the place gets ~

Yelp
Use to be one of my favorite spots until this bartender decided to be extremely disrespectful. I asked him twice if he poured reposado and he said yes. When I get my drinks it was blanco. Didn't really care because it was crowed UNTIL he says to his coworker IN MY FACE "it doesn't matter they're going to drink it anyway! It's not like they'll ask for you to remake it." HOW RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL IS THAT?! He could've at least said it when I walked away. My friends and I will find another place to go.

Chris S.

Yelp
Atmosphere atmosphere atmosphere!! Not to mention great selection of beer and drinks. Food was decent and set up was amazing!

Yelp
One of my favorite places to catch the Saints game, everyone's vibe is so LIT here!!! Even the dogs get litty! The drinks are huge, cheap, good, and strong. It's a party like the one Waka Flocka was talking about on game days here. If you haven't been, I recommend coming on a Saints game day. Win or lose, Wrong Iron's crowd will show out!
google avatar

Jasmine S.

Yelp
Came here on two different occasions and I loved it !! I love the Wings & Fries. The ambiance is really beautiful it's chill and can get packed really quick. I love the heaters and fire pits they have outside. Definitely will return. My favorite drink is the frozen champagne (Frose )

Yelp
cool vibe, great place to watch football, very similar setup to the Yard Goat in Lafayette

Nava B.

Yelp
I just moved to NOLA from Lafayette, LA; I was recommended by staff from the Yard Goat in Lafayette to come to this place. Turned out, I came across one of the rudest bartenders at Wrong Iron and I will never visit this place ever again!
google avatar

Makeda M.

Yelp
I used to go to this place all time to watch the Saints football games. I've rented tables and fire pits here before as well in the past. They can no longer get my money after witnessing too many recent incidents of targeted incidents involving one male white bartender and several black male patrons. The bartender was previously let go and then rehired because of the issues he continues to cause with black male customers. My question is why would they hire him back. Each time he causes the incident, calls for four or five security officers to escort the black man off the premises. I've seen this happen at least twice now to men in the age of 50-55 who were doing absolutely nothing but spending money, enjoying the game and ordering a round yet they were ordered off the property by this same guy. My very large group of extended friends and I now refuse to patronize Wrong Iron.
google avatar

Marigny L.

Yelp
I've been to Wrong Iron twice now for their happy hour deals on Fridays, and it's great! They're happy hour is 4pm-7pm Monday through Friday. You can get double drinks for the price of a single! I got vodka tonics, along with the tuna nachos. The tuna nachos are delicious--they can be a little bit spicy, but I think they're so good. It's such a good price for how much food you get!
google avatar

Sasha M.

Yelp
Nice staff, great beer selection, and good food. Only downfall- over 20 tvs and you can only watch one NFL game. Only Saints and whatever game plays after them.
google avatar

Molly S.

Yelp
Wrought Iron is a great place to watch sports. I like to go for LSU games. It gets super crowded, which is good and bad, but the energy is there. I've never tried any of the food, but it looks pretty good for bar food. The bartenders and pretty quick and nice enough.
google avatar

Yelp
Went with a group of friends for a brunch the frozen Rose' and the veggie burger it was really good. I will definitely be back

Yelp
Very cool bar with fantastic outdoor space in the Greenway but the bouncer is horrific. I get it must be 22 to enter with valid ID but it can be left at that. I witnessed the bouncer belittle a woman for not having renewed her license yet when she was clearly well over the age of 21 and with someone who had met all the requirements. I 100% understand the laws but a simple sorry I can't take expired IDs and the business makes me card everyone would've sufficed rather than mocking her. Food and drinks were pretty good but that bouncer really set the experience off poorly.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to grab a beer and some crawfish! I love crawfish and only try to come down when it's season. This place had some REALLY good crawfish. You can always tell by the potato if the seasoning is just right. This place had so many field games to play and so much outdoor seating. The bathrooms were extremely clean as well!!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was good , long as lines on a Saint's game day also 20% gratuity asses to your bill on game days but an awesome environment to be in.
google avatar

Yelp
I love Wrong Iron. I always have a great time when I come. I also would love Charlie to DJ ON SUNDAY!!!
google avatar

Akilah S.

Yelp
It's my first time coming here since Covid. The last time I came this bar was not serving food. They would have food trucks & pop-ups. They have a kitchen now. I had the blackened shrimp tacos. This was probably one of the best shrimp tacos I've ever had! I caught happy hour. I got the rum punch....Wrong Irons rum punch is always on point!

Yelp
BEST "SPORTS BAR" in NOLA serving amazing cocktails and food with a trendy, dog friendly-outdoor atmosphere!! The perfect spot to catch any game with a group around the picnic tables, fire pits, & seating areas! A sports fans' dream while creating a fun, energetic atmosphere where everyone wants to be!! Come spend all day!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this patio!!! It was a bit chilly the night we went, so they sat us outside under a heater which was great. We got chips and salsa which were fine. They have a great beer selection and I love being able to order 5oz pours so I can try a few. The waiter was nice but maybe a little uninterested in talking with us. You win some you lose some! It's super close to where my brother lives, and it's huge, so it's a great place to take a group. Would love to go back and get there earlier. They kick you out right when they close and we would have liked more time. That's on us I suppose!
google avatar

Yelp
I went to Wrong Iron on a Sunday night. My friend and I got drinks and food. Really chill place, ample seating, and staff were welcoming and friendly. I think this is a cool hang out spot and would recommend checking it out.
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
Wow! The pulled pork nachos are AMAZING! The pulled pork has so much flavored and completely covered the nachos. The nachos had so many toppings that I don't think one chip was naked! Would absolutely recommend getting these while having a delicious drink at this bar! The atmosphere is amazing and they are dog friendly which is always a plus in my book!
google avatar

Yelp
So happy to have fOund this place when we were in New Orleans over the week of Thanksgiving. We went here the night the Saints were playing and it was so lively. Lots of seating, fire pits, and TVs! All outside and right next to a greenway. The beer and drink selection is also a plus! And the service was impeccable, even for a very busy night. They have food trucks on site and are dog friendly! I wish we had an establishment like this - size wise - in Indianapolis!
google avatar

Dilyara S.

Yelp
I came here on a cold Monday afternoon for a friend's little get together. Wow, what a nice surprise, this place is beautiful! They thought through everything. My friend told us all to meet at the firepits. It was a cold day, so I thought it was a good idea. But when I came, all seats by the fire place were taken. Yet, another nice surprise - each party can sit by the fire only for an hour. We all were getting warm and cozy by the fire in no time. They also provide blankets. It is very thoughtful, since we have only one and a half seasons here in New Orleans, and those blankets will not be needed for the most part of the year. Good Happy Hour drinks Monday-Friday 3:00-7:00; lots of TV's if you want to watch the game; Dat Dog food truck with excellent food if you get hungry; and lots and lots of space. So yes, the space is big, and parking lot is pretty big too, so they can fit lots of people. The only thing I'd suggest to add, is another bar outside. That particular day was not crowded at all, since it was a weekday. But I'd imagine it can get packed over the weekend. Only one bar inside is probably not enough.
google avatar

Tori M.

Yelp
They've changed the menu since Covid :( They have mostly tacos which is cool but still. RIP hooch grits. The service has definitely slowed as in slowed since Feb 2021. *le sigh*
google avatar

Rumesh V.

Yelp
This is such a beautiful place almost similar to some of the beer gardens but with plenty of amazing food options. It's like a gated outdoor space and only 21+ are allowed. There's a security guard at the door who checks your ID before he lets you in. After an awesome and long day at the Jazz fest we decided to come to this place and chill for some time while grabbing some beer and nice food. Except the boiled crawfish almost everything else is small bites. We ordered a platter that consisted of shrimp tacos but the bun was Chinese soft bun, pork skewer, chips & salsa, and bacon wrapped shrimp. The sauce was so delicious. I have had pork bao before shrimp was good too. Shrimp wrapped bacon was my favorite. They served it with cilantro and mint spicy sauce. I wish they sold this sauce. I would have definitely bought a big one. Ambiance is amazing! There's nothing like this in the DC area. Multiple TVs playing sports and wooden tables and chairs gives it a nice rustic and casual look. You don't have to be well dressed as it's a very casual place. To keep you cool on a sunny day they have huge fans. They almost froze me lol. I absolutely enjoyed my visit to this place. Lots of alcohol as usual.
google avatar

Edwin W.

Yelp
The bar is great but the kitchen is TERRIBLE!!! Justin is SUPER rude and condescending. We ordered food, waited more than an HOUR and we're super cool about it because we were drinking and hanging out, no biggie. I gave them my receipt & they gave ME the wrong order and when I went back to ask about it, Justin, light skin guy with a few dreads, was like "if your order was wrong you should have said something earlier" excuse me??? That was your job to check the tickets. We gave you the ticket and this is what we got? But ok, never ordering food from here again. Do better. Nola is full of better options, Bayou Wine Garden is such a better choice!
google avatar

Darriane J.

Yelp
Kicked off the Saint's season here! Mask are required to enter & all the staff are wearing mask. The only reason we went inside is to use the restroom. Menus are via scan code so you just place your order & they bring it to you! I LOVE Wrong Iron's frosè & margaritas! I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with cheese fries which was pretty good too. The salsa was fresh! I enjoy that they have fans outside so you aren't melting in this Louisiana heat! They also built another area upfront with a TV for Saint's game so there is more seating which is pretty cool!
google avatar

Bradley L.

Yelp
Our visit to wrong iron wrong. Our sever specifically. The other tables seemed to be doing fine. It was extremely difficult to order or close our tab. Our server came by 3 times in the same time the table next to us was seen 3x that.
google avatar

Bryan S.

Yelp
Cool spot! Plenty of space especially if you don't mind being outside. Large TVs everywhere, fans, great bar staff. And they have excellent beer options, even had my Belgian beers! (Chimay). Lobster Roll food truck was closing up when I got hungry, so got the hot chicken sandwich which was very good. The "side" if fries was a giant basket which was nice. Blue cheese was really tasty as well.

Yelp
It's hard to get food you have to stand in line to buy food that's not good need a better possess with all this technology why we still doing that I am trying to enjoy a game or my company

Yelp
Hubby and I came tonight and watched the game . Premises was well lighted . Vibes was great throughout. Very spacious , clean and detailed.

Yelp
Wow what a gem. We wanted to get away from the French quarter for a few hours and do something a bit more chill. Wrong Iron looked like a perfect place to do just that...and it did not disappoint. We called ahead to ask for an estimated waiting time before hopping into some Ubers. They do a temperature and ID check at the front and seat one table at a time. Food comes out here SO quick, it's uncanny. You basically order. Take three breaths, and your food is on the table. How do they do that????? Huge beer list. Great cocktails and fantastic bar food. Get the waffle fries with quest on the side.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here to watch the Vanderpump Rules reunion and had a blast. We got there early to catch up on an episode we had missed and the manager was nice enough to turn the sound on for us before the actual event. We ordered chips and quest and then six tacos (two beef, two pork, and two chicken). Service was crazy fast and delicious. Very extensive selection of drinks; my favorite was the Spill the Tea cocktail (seemed appropriate for the occasion). The atmosphere was very young and a bit hipster. There was also an event to adopt dogs going on (the bar is dog friendly) so that was a bonus. The only thing I thought was weird was that the manager was adamant about now turning on subtitles. He didn't explain why, but considering deaf and other disabled people depend on subtitles, having subtitles on would be a way to be more inclusive.

Yelp
So I've attempted to go a few times during off peak times although they weren't open even during appointments times when they were supposed to be... . But I get it their weekend times are their peak offerings so although I was ok to give them a break during Covid. But today when I went they have absolutely no Covid restrictions while everyone else's is ramping things back up and advertise this on their website. They did say if you went inside it was required and they would check vax cards and require masks but they did not and their staff didn't wear masks either. And when I wore a mask the staff which was talking amongst themselves ignored me and then flirted with the college girls on the other side of bar who were not ordering. Eventually I said can I please order some drinks and decided to give me some attention yet rudely. I had heard this place often has fights and my first visit I witnessed two. One between men and one between women. Real classy. And if that wasn't enough drinks are over priced. I won't be back.
google avatar

Emily V.

Yelp
This is a great spot for a happy hour! They have a ton of seating, mostly outdoors, though some indoors. Outside they have tvs and fans. It is also very dog friendly so bring your best friend! They have a lot of food on the menu and it's all pretty good. I like that their wings are fried and you can add the sauce yourself.

Yelp
This is only a review of the cheese plate. One pic is what is on the menu and the other is what we got. Quite possibly the worst cheese plate ever. None of the listed cheeses were on it. The cheddar had no taste. Service at the bar was good; but this was terrible and not worth $13 plus tip (had to go pick up).
