"A rare spot for Chinese barbecue in New England, Wow Barbecue’s Brookline Village spot is the spot to go and gather around skewers of grilled honey ribs, chicken wings, squid, and more. The spacious dining room is designed with Beijing-inspired architecture in mind. There’s also a big-screen TV in the back that plays sports but sometimes also cartoons." - C. Shardae Jobson

Outstanding freshness. Beyond high quality, the best cauliflower, healthy, flavorful so well balanced. Competitive pricing and above all it arrived piping hot from grub hub. The general Gao combo very good portion white rice very fluffy, has an authentic Chinatown taste at a fraction of the cost. Please visit this cozy establishment you will not regret. I will be ordering this signature healthy tasteful crave worthy roasted cauliflower very soon

The grilled fish is super flavorful, but the portion of fish is incredibly small. I haven’t started and it is gone. The service is poor, I have to help myself everything. They don’t serve bbq anymore. They don’t serve many items in the menu.

I've been going to this place for 10 years, they never disappoint! Their food is authentic. You can really tell they use fresh and good quality meat. The seasoning is savory and perfect. All the drinks are made by the owner who put in a lot of energy and effort to always learn new drinks. Great place, great flavors and very good services. One tiny drawback is it's a little dark in there and I have bad eyes so I had a bit of a hard time reading the menu but overall excellent experience

Google
One of the best Chinese styled barbeque places. They have lots of different variety of skewers and my personal favorite is the squid and lamb. Fun fact, they actually started out as a food truck if I remember correctly and they at the time specialized in Chinese styled barbeque lamb, so I had to try it. Did not disappoint.

Google
Very delicious ribs (糖醋小排) -- juicy and tender. Their specialty dish (the grilled fish) was quite flavorful. Service was good too!

Last day in Boston, I am so glad I went to this restaurant, I have a really great time with my friend. The Barbecue is authentic, I love squid, ribs, and lamb! we tried the grill fish fillet, omg!! Perfect! But I think the fish fillet is fried not grill, but still tasty!! everything great, the Chinese style decoration is awesome, and the servers are friendly! If I come back to Boston, I will definitely back to here!

Google
A very nice dining place to get some Chinese flavor of barbecued meat and vegetables and grilled fish. We tried their barbecued beef, lamb, beef tendon, and classic spicy grill fish, all are excellent. The flavorful smell of the barbecue immediately activated my tastebuds. More importantly, the price is reasonable.

Google
One of my favorite restaurants in Boston. The food are super authentic and the taste in general is good. Strongly recommended!!! Don’t understand why it is underscored. The front desk waitress (Rebeca Yu) is super welcoming! Love the food and the serving so much!!!

Yelp
Food and drinks were delicious (and strong!), good proportions. The service was fine, nothing bad or anything like that but nothing out of the standard. I think this would be a good scene for a night out for drinks with friends; outdoor seating if you're looking for a good date scene. Would definitely try again but I only give 4 stars because not much stood out to me for the first visit. I would recommend walking from the train station (Brookline Village on the green line) than driving. There's street parking but with all the nearby restaurants, don't count on finding a spot on the weekends.

Yelp
So much potential, but a struggling environment for sure. Rarely ever give such a low rating but do think there are many opportunities for improvement. Overall, think it could be a hit if it stuck to 1-2 thoughts instead of trying to "do it all." Found the restaurant via the Seated app. Service 2/5: - long wait to get seated despite a quite empty restaurant. feel poorly for the waitress at the bar who had to seat, place orders, and make drinks, while 2 other staff were quite noncontributory to the service process, intermittently sauntering from the back - despite request, not served water or utensils until after food was out; took about 15 min after seating to place an order, another 15 min for food to come out Ambience 3.5/5: - lots of promise with an artificial pond incl fish, big screens at the bar for sports viewing, nice decor - unusual potpourri of music selections, unclear if it was going for a bar or classy vibes Food/Drink 2/5: About 100 items on the menu, quite overwhelming. - Passionfruit and Lychee slushes, $7.50 each: well-portioned, but possibly the sweetest drink i've ever had, unusual textural combination, w chunks of ice but smooth boba, pure syrup at the bottom despite vigorous stirring; prepare for a sugar high on sip one, was unable to drink more than a couple sips - App combo, $20: teriyaki chicken was quite flavorless and still distasteful, shrimp tempura quite stale and tough, fried rice just okay - Stir fry bok choy, $15: perhaps the only redeeming item ordered; simple but solid, stir fried with garlic and decently portioned Will need major improvements to consider a return visit. Has much potential.

Yelp
Got another chance to dine in after years of "gap". The service has increased a lot. During this visit, the server brought me the refill without asking and even asked us "if we need anything" for at least 5 times. The beef skewers are highly recommended. They criss-cross the fatty meat and thin meat. The greasy taste and the chewy taste create a fulfilling flavor. Other skewers are as good as I expected. I hope they can provide more skewer courses in the future.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant two days in a row because I just love the flavor. And I also brought different friends with me both times and they all enjoyed the experience and food. They serve soju and other alcoholic beverages, and you need to ask for it because it's not on the menu. The manager or owner there is so nice, she came over to ask if me and my friend like the food the first time when we were there. You need to go order the fish, and a bowl of rice, you will be happy enjoying it I promise. Also, it's a lot of food :)

Julia V.

Yelp
I'm visiting this place for the first time since I visited with my dad a few years ago. It happened to be Hallowen weekend and I loved the decorations and the costumes the staff were wearing. More importantly, I felt like the staff actually cared about my experience there and I really appreciate that. I also work in customer service so I noticed a lot of their attention to detail. The food was nostalgic and authetically Chinese. I would definitely go back again soon. :)

Sandy Z.

Yelp
Recommend this Chinese barbecue place! Very authentic and flavorful. Can be a bit greasy at the end but I still enjoy it a bunch!

Yelp
One of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. Horrible service; had to walk into the kitchen and look for someone to seat us. The server gave us attitude and had us wait 40+ minutes to order food. The food was barely edible and tasted very artificial. Very strange and awkward vibe the entire time and will never go back. 0/10 stay away from this place.

Yelp
If you like Chinese BBQ (meat on a stick), this is the place to go. They offer variety of meats from lamb, beef, to even vegetables on a stick. They are very tasty. They are also very famous with grilled fish but you need to have a big party to enjoy that. We did not try it this time. We ordered lamb, beef, chicken wings, frog, and squid BBQ, and also selected duck soup with vermicelli, spareribs with potatoes, and 10-second Pig Kidney. I have to say that duck soup was not as good as I expected (by lacking of the cooking time). The other dishes were excellent. I was also enjoying the ambient of this restaurant.

Yelp
This is on my blacklist for my entire life. I don't know what happened recently, but I can't believe how dare they are even to open the restaurant where they clearly don't know how to do anything right. They were closed one day when they are supposed to open, and they even have the open sign out. Recently we made the wrong decision to give them another try. We went there and we don't even have water after 40 min. This has refreshed my understanding of a poorly managed restaurant. They should pay for my emotional damage.

Yelp
Wu Er now has a sister restaurant located in Malden, Ma (Wow BBQ) however this first location in Brookline is still by far my favorite. We came before the lunch rush so we had the restaurant all to ourselves. The customer service was impeccable thanks to that also. Very dark dimly lit restaurant but overall nice oriental decor. It was my first time having fried bons and I became addicted to it ever since. The fried bons are not oily but light and airy and goes well with the sweetened condensed milk. I recommend the lobster in cream sauce. Aside from all the fresh seafood in this entree, I absolutely love the rich cream sauce that the udon noodles soaked up when you are done eating the seafood. Another dish I recommend is the mushroom risotto which is again creamy and delicious. It comes topped with a fried egg. The spicy boiled fish is another entree that I am addicted to. We ordered this with bean curd, lotus roots, and shiitake mushrooms. The fish is so fresh and the spicy level is just perfect and really goes well with a bowl of rice. Some unique sides that we ordered was the lamb liver and the chicken cartilage. The lamb liver was good, tasted like any other liver I guess. The chicken cartilage was rather unusual in the sense that it was part of the chicken I am so used to discarding. I wouldn't order it again or recommend it. Skewers is lamb meat, chicken heart and chicken gizzard had the same seasoning and were all very good. I can totally order more and have these with a cold beer. The ribs were a bbq ribs, three pieces, were rather underwhelming and a tad bit dry. I wouldn't recommend this item. Seasoning was not that good either on the rib. The healthy green tea cucumber drink was nice but but an iced cold beer would have paired better with the spicy food. See my pictures.

Yelp
This place is truly a gem here in Boston. There really aren't that many if any places here that makes Sichuan style cuisine like this. Will update as I become more familiar with their menu.

Trisha H.

Yelp
Good food. Nice place to hang out. Recommend it if you want a change from Chinatown. Good stuff

Alison H.

Yelp
Horrible dine-in experience. No one refills water. No one takes care of the table. Check your bill!!! They overcharge the tip without notice to make extra money they don't deserve. All waiters have ZERO pieces of customer service training.

Jessica C.

Yelp
I came here last Saturday with a group of people. We had early reservations and had called early for the duck. It was already busy and kinda full with Asians so (this is going to sound horrible) all things seemed like we would have a great meal. For a bbq place, the skewers are disgusting and so unappetizing. The duck was also a complete waste of money. The servers didn't seem to know what they were doing and we had to keep on asking for the wraps for the duck. He also couldn't really recommend a beer or even soju. What was even more appalling is that they gave me a glass cup (see photo) for my hot tea. I could barely even hold it to drink it. THIS PLACE IS SO BIZARRE. I am not sure why it was "full." If you **must** go here, these were the dishes that were "fine" to my group: peapod shoots, foil wrapped lamb, dan dan noodles.

Yelp
Since November, I have noweaten at Wu Er by WOW Barbecue an additional 2 times and have tried every style of eating! As per my last review - first time, large platter style - that lobster platter review stands. Creamy sauce is great. Would love to find a companion to try the spicy sauce with me. Second go around, tapas-style. This is the weakest of all their styles. Unimpressed with the Tiger Shrimp - flavors were too muddled. Asian Ribs were bomb. Their Liang Pi is great! My first time finding somewhere nearby to eat this dish - beware of that kick! My best friend and boyfriend could not handle it (white people and their spices, amirite? JK!). Third time redemption! We each ordered our own entrees. Her Zha Jiang Mian, me Beef Noodle Soup. The Zha Jiang Mian comes with plenty of noodles and vegetables and the Beef Noodle soup while less spicy than their Liang Pi, still incredibly tasty and had just enough zing (I actually added more for my taste preference). As per the other reviews, their beef soup does run sweet though. I'm a lover of all types of beef broth though and this one though sweet was done well. The Zha Jiang sauce ran sweet as well. I would've loved another shot to try different tapas but my friend and I came in to claim our free Chinese New Year dumplings and found they are changing up their menu! So multiple tapas were getting crossed off as they sold out to prepare for the line-up change. I personally can't wait to see what comes of it, but also perhaps next round, The Boy, my friend, and I will all go in on a Beijing Duck! Stay tuned!

Yelp
We ordered Tofu skin skewers Lamb skewer Pork belly skewer Sausage skewer Ribs Five spice chicken Lobster in cream sauce Fried banana ice cream Creme brûlée The service wasn't good. The hostess was also our waitress she was technically running the whole restaurant because her co worker was running late. She didn't even give us supplies to crack our lobster, the wet wipes or the bowl for the seafood shells until the end. Our lobster entree came out cold and the fire on the bottom wasn't even strong enough to heat it up & then the fire went off. I wouldn't have even know how strong the fire was suppose to be if I didn't see our next door customers. The five spice chicken tasted like popcorn chicken but it didn't have much of a "5 spice taste" it needs a dipping sauce or something.. spicy mayo? The only thing worth purchasing was the ribs. The meat came right off the bone & wasn't dry. This saved it from a one star review. Dessert: Creme brûlée. The first waitress said it was $7 then the next who was running late said $6 - a dessert from an outsider company sama collection. I posted a picture - Fork for size reference. Not worth your money. They sell this at Kung fu tea and I asked how much it was they told me it was $5. Anyway, it's not worth $5 either. When the creme brûlée came out I thought it was a dipping sauce to the fried bananas... Then we didn't even get our complimentary fried buns!?!!!!!?????? Definitely not worth coming if you do not have a groupon.

Yelp
loved the veggie mapo tofu special, two for one. and one is HUGE so two will last me a while. very flavorful with huge chunks of tofu :)

Yelp
We certainly before they redid their menu and I'm not sure if it was redone -- the manager Jack was telling us about it. Best scallion pancakes I've had in a long time and their chili oil is great too. We got some roasted veggies which were good but needed sauce. Nothing we ordered was enough so we had eggplant that was fantastic. They have a good local beer list as well and Jack mentioned they were bringing more in

Jenny C.

Yelp
My favorite skewers place in Boston!! All skewers are delicious but lamb, pork belly and chives are the best. Order a side of cucumber salad too. Must try their spicy sichuan grilled fish (It's a whole fish). Overall, great foods and ambiance!!

Yelp
Good food, good service, good feel. My date had heard the buzz and wanted to try Wu Er so we drove over to Brookline on a Thursday after work. We found street parking very close to the restaurant and walked in without rezzies. We were greeted immediately and offered seats but chose two at the cozy bar. The place was buzzing, as expected. Wow. What a good feel. The decor is clever by being warm and hip and simple and comfy and practical all at the same time. The brick walls have decorated inlays. The concrete bar is black with red accent lights. The room dividers - made of stacked hollow tubes - allow light through but mute sound so that it's not too noisy or dark. The bar chairs feel good. In addition to the front room with the bar and booths, there's a larger room in the back with plenty of seating so the place feels cozy but can still seat a lot of people. Food. We started with the baby arugula salad which is a little miracle on a plate. Perfect flavor and texture. Then the skewers. This is a *chacun à son goût* thing. There's something for everyone, veggie and meat, east and west, but you have to like cumin because they use it a lot. We got the sausage, pork belly, lamb (my favorite), cauliflower, shiitake mushroom, chicken, beef neck tendon, chicken gizzard, and lamb kidney. The only one I didn't like was the tendon -- too chewy for me. Date loved everything and raved about the mushrooms. From where we were sitting, I could see larger family-style platters of sizzling somethings being devoured happily by people who looked very happy. Next time, I would happily try the fish. Drinks. We had beer and cocktails. The bartender was attentive and informative and congenial. He offered tastings and opinions and stories about the craft beers. He explained the cocktails and mixed them well. The bar itself is heavy on the fruity flavors -- that night the favored mixer was pineapple which is too sweet for me -- but bartender was willing and eager to mix and match to our taste. I would go back just for him. But all the servers -- host, barback, whomever -- were attentive which suggests good management. Good food, good feel, good service. What more is there?

Long L.

Yelp
I had dinner with some of my friends there and we ordered the grill striped bass with rice on the side. We all enjoyed it with refreshing Asahi and Sapporo beer. Definitely will be back with friends and family !

Bryan C.

Yelp
Honestly, the food is pretty good. I would prefer going to Mala in Allston though. I went with a friend and we ordered the Dan Dan noodles, BBQ Skewers, Watercress with Garlic, and the Asian Pork Ribs. Asian Pork Ribs stole the show. Meat fell off the bones and it had a delicious glaze. Only knock was that it was mad sticky, but the waiter did offer gloves! I had to knock it down to 3 stars though because I found a piece of plastic in the watercress. A bummer too because it was mad good. Nothing ruins a dish like finding what looked like the bottom part of a zipper in my food. I told the manager and they were nice enough to remove it from the bill --- but still... Overall, it's pretty good for an authentic Chinese restaurant in Brookline. If I go back, I'd definitely want to try their Peking Duck.

Freya L.

Yelp
The grill pig feet are still good. The foil grill clam with vermicelli is just tooooo salty.

Z M.

Yelp
I've only gotten take out from here but I always get their skewers and I like that when you order from Uber eats you can order each skewer by the each instead of like in a bundle of 4 or 5 bc I usually prefer variety and get just one or two of everything instead of a big group of one thing particular. My favorites are the fish tofu (sweet and spongy) and beef tendon (very numby, I like it a lot), but I also usually get the sausage, quail egg, and chicken skin too. Each type of skewer comes in their own foil so if you get like 3 shrimp, 2 lamb, and 2 tofu, you'd get three foil packages which is nice if someone in your group has allergies or dietary restrictions.

C. D.

Yelp
The sesame chicken was standard tasty fare, but the ribs were absolutely nasty. Found more than one hair stuck to them. It was though they'd been dropped on the floor. Also - smelled off and tasted bad. I drove back and asked for a refund. The employee was kind and apologetic but I ordered through another company so I had to go back to them for a refund. I never got a response to my complaint. I can't blame the restaurant for that, but I do hold them accountable for the nasty hairy ribs. Idk it could have been a bad night. But I won't be back to find out.

Melanie W.

Yelp
Service: One word...terrible. I made a reservation for a party of 3 for 7:45. We arrived 5 minutes late mostly due to the fact that this place was hard to find at night. The sign is not lit up and we ended up walking past the restaurant. When we entered... we got ignored because they were so busy. Food: I ordered Beijing duck ahead of time and the dish was place when we were seated for 2 minutes. The duck was cold. We ordered other dishes but they take forever and eventually we have to cancel our order. We have some skewers but their seasoning, too much seasoning that we don't know what we are eating. Due to the long wait and mistake, they give us 10% off. Never coming back again. I wish I can give no star.

Jingyi M.

Yelp
This time we had a total different experience here. First of all , we waited for 20 minuets before anyone came to serve us they obviously forgot about us. Second , the food quality is not good.even tho they look great The grilled fish taste really plain we couldn't finish half of it. The spicy crab is ok only ok. Not spicy not much flavor.

Moody M.

Yelp
Food: 10/10 - we had the spicy crab, black pepper beef fried rice, fried chicken, lamb skewers, cabbage skewers, grilled oysters, and crab rangoon. Everything was on point! Our favorites were the lamb skewers and grilled oysters. At $2 and $1 each we kept them coming all night. Decor: 9/10 - nice big booths and cool decorations Service: 9/10 - the owner of the restaurant came to our table and actually sat down with us to make recommendations, everything he recommended was spot on. Value: 10/10 - great fresh seafood and meats at very reasonable prices. 100% we'll be back again!

Yushan W.

Yelp
LOVED IT!! So glad we ventured out to Brookline to try Wu Er. We got here before 8pm on a Saturday, was told the wait can be up to 15 min, but they were actually able to seat us in 5 min! The decor is cool too. Skewers: The lamb kebabs were the highlight for me. The small lamb kebab ($1.75) includes fatty pieces which I liked. The large lamb kebab ($3.5) is sizable and only lean lamb. The pork belly skewer was good. The squid skewer was awesome! Something I still cannot fathom is that the Mapo Tofu is ONLY $3! It's an entree sized dish. It's delicious. There's no meat in it, and you'll probably need to order a bowl of rice to go with it ($2). But still--amazing value. The only thing I can see other reviewers didn't like was the disjointed service. But my friend and I actually were fine with they way the service operates. It seems that they share tables; you don't have your own waiter per say. It actually reminded me of restaurants in China. You might have to flag people down but they're always around--very friendly staff!!

Yijian C.

Yelp
We ordered marinated crawfish with rice and found a long thick hair in it. VERY VERY DISGUSTING Plus their BBQ was probably the worst I've ever had. Lamb tastes firm and plain. I love chicken gizzard and will order it every time we go to a Chinese bbq place. Yet I couldn't even chew and finish the ones we ordered here. We'll never ever come back. Period.

Mike R.

Yelp
Amazing amazing freshness high quality extremely authentic cuisine. First time trying I was amazed the quality the presentation and how well priced everything was, professional bagged with utensils, very clean and smells like home made. I had 2 skewers of the roasted cauliflower it is beyond epic, it's marinated in a specific spice, healthy not oily very light. The general gao was flavorful moderate spice, white rice fluffy and fresh very filling, can't wait to to dry, look at the drool worthy pictures, they do no justice. Do yourself a favor visit this delightful cozy restaurant soon. You will not regret, I came across them by grub hub I am so glad I discovered this hidden gem

Youmei W.

Yelp
Food is stunning! Their skewers are very worthy to try, especially lamb and squid. Our server recommended the foiled wrapped beef which is the best. I'll definitely return!

Bill R.

Yelp
I can't even give it a knock on price because the food was the same as when I lived in China. It is real authentic Chinese BBQ. We got a little bit of everything and it was all wonderful. I loved the lamb. The staff was very nice too. We got dry pot cabbage that was amazing too. I highly recommend.

Harry X.

Yelp
I can definitely see the appeal of this place. Hip decor, dimly lit and pop music- obviously aiming to please the younger crowd. I get it. The food though was just ok. The signature skewers were not super well seasoned (you had to add hot chili flakes yourself) and the pork belly with garlic sauce was rather bland. Though the service was nice, it was hard to justify higher prices for mediocre food. For a similar vibe with better food, check out Mala Restaurant in Allston.

Jessie L.

Yelp
The business was quick to mend their mistakes and offered me an explanation while I was still in the restaurant. They offered me another glass of watermelon juice for free and explained it was actually 100% watermelon juice, but juiced from a watermelon that was not as sweet as most would expect it to be. They said they would improve their sourcing of watermelon next time. They also went to great lengths to mend for the long waiting time. The owner of the business saw my review quickly and offered a discount next time. The server also offered a free dessert as an apology.

Aimee G.

Yelp
This review has to start with my adoration of the former food truck. I so wanted this love to generalize to their restaurant in Brookline. I think loyal customers keep going back because Chinese BBQ options are so limited in the Boston metro area. :/ The second visit resulted in my dining companion stating, "I am not satisfied; we must go to JP Licks." The crab entrée was an expensive meal with very little protein. It's approximately equivalent to two yakitori skewers. That's horrible given that the price point indicates one is receiving an entrée sized portion. The noodle dish was flavorless and greasy. My favorite menu item is the Asian rib appetizer; it is reminiscent of their food truck skewers. Bottom line: The transition to their brick and mortar business model has resulted in inflated prices for the same skewers. I felt like we were paying their Brookline rent. One could stand right by the grill when ordering via the food truck. This meant that the protein options were hot and fresh. Now, diners pay more and wait for them to come from the kitchen.

Bonnie C.

Yelp
My review is only based on takeout that I had recently. Will update once I come for sit down meal. Although there was nobody there when I went to pick up food in the afternoon, I won't give them any less stars for that because it happens. I was the most excited to eat the skewers, which I ordered three off. I ordered the beef noodle soup as well. The skewers were extremely dry and did not slide off the skewers like I would expect it too. The meat almost tasted old and not fresh. It was barely edible. I literally threw all of my skewers away with a bite here and there after failed attempts of trying to chew it off. However, the beef noodle soup was very good and was impressed by it! The broth was flavorful with generous amount of beef, noodles, and bok choy. This is something that I would order again, especially on a cold wintery work day :) I think for this restaurant, you just have to know what to order and what to avoid. I will definitely come back here to sit down and try other entrees

Yelp
A traditional spin on grilled meats ("BBQ") where meat on a skewer is the thing to get. The good: fairly wide ranging options from meats to decent veggie dishes, local to my apartment. The average: service is slow but kind, many dishes at least have an authentic Chinese flavor profile, prices aren't insane. The bad: all of the meat is cumin flavored/dusted. Like a lot of cumin, traditional to Xi'an and other western China cities, on all of the meat. The food doesn't taste super fresh and many skewers came cold. Sichuan flavored dishes were lacking the "ma" in mala cuisine. Almost no hint of huajiao (numbing Sichuan peppercorn). I wish this were nicer but, with Sichuan Garden literally across the street, why go here?

Y. P.

Yelp
Last couple of weeks, we went this place for two birthdays, we ordered different dishes each time. All at the table were satisfied and amazed the taste of the food. The skewers were remarkably authentically flavored and made as those in China. Cold dishes we like: cucumbers and bean curd salad. Grilled fish and chili crab are in large woks, good for a group. The food was indeed delicious, and it is very inviting for a comeback to try out more entries and the assorted drinks in the bar. The food are reasonably priced. The seating could be more efficiently arranged to fit more people. We plan to go back but will try to avoid busy hours, or make reservation in advance to assure a seating.

Yelp
Many of my friends had highly recommended Wu Er when they first opened in Malden. But I also thought it was too far of a drive and never made it up there. So I was really excited for the Brookline location to open. However, after trying a bunch of dishes on the menu, I think it's only worth a 3-3.5 star rating. Wu Er offers a variety of small dishes (tapas style) or you can order one of the large plates for 2-4 ppl to share. We decided to go with the tapas and ordered about 5-6 dishes and some skewers. My favorite was the cucumber salad (the seasoning tasted exactly like what I always had growing up in China!). I also really liked the ribs, which were perfectly tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside! However, I have to say that the skewers were a disappointment. They were way under-seasoned (seems that the only seasoning on them was cumin). The skewers were not nearly as good as those from its food truck in Chinatown. I was excited to see Zha Jian Mian (noodles with pork black bean sauce) on the menu, but the sauce was way to sweet and tasted nothing like the authentic one in China. Also note that I wanted to order Liang Pi (cold noodles), however they said that they were making new ones and that they wouldn't be ready until dinner time (bummer). I was able to find a groupon for $20 that is worth $40 in value, so the bill came out very reasonably. I really wanted to like Wu Er, but they need to work a bit harder on their food (especially the skewers) for me to go back.

Yelp
This place is worth a try since what I love most is customer service. They make you feel like your enjoying a meal at a high end restaurant. Every time there was a need, waitress was there like we are the only one in the restaurant. Her tip, $20.00 for a meal worth $56.00 do the math. That's how attentive she was! We were first given a complimentry very nice and warm bun with some sweet drizzle of I believe condensed milk which the girlfriend was a fan of. We order the grilled lobster which also comes with clams, shrimp, mussle, corn, and udon noodles with cream sauce "cheesy cream" and since the girlfriend loves spicy we asked if she could have the spicy sauce on the side "since you can either order it spicy or cream sauce " without hesitation she left after finishing our order to relay to the chef our request which we order just one skewer of the quail egg and one chicken gizzard just to try out since a lot of places that do skewers are really chewy like eating packaged beef jerky! Chicken gizzard and Quail egg comes out nice and hot and yes!!!! Not dry at all!!! Juicy, hot and yes just enough flavor not too salty since they have a shaker of salt and I believe cayenne pepper at the table if desired. The main course comes out with flames burning under the dish to keep it hot but don't worry it will burn out before the dish gets too cooked! Just remember that this is a very messy dish since you need to peel the shrimp as well as crack the lobster. Girlfriend wasn't too fond of the creamy sauce but was very happy with the chef and waitress for letting her customize her dish with spicey sauce on the side. Maybe they should have this as an option! At the end of the day, I wouldn't mind coming back to try out the special they have like the skewer special but you would need to sit at the bar and order a minimum of one drink for $20.00 Ambience here is very warm and inviting but if your not into the dim lighting and modern decor then it's not for you. Food we ordered was good but I would like to try more since it's worth coming back. Service is exceptional here but maybe it was just our waitress but hopefully we come back and have her again or maybe she can teach all the wait staff how it's done! Drinks, wasn't in the mood but seems like they have a full bar menu if your in the mood to pair your food. So Wu Er, your getting better by the day! Yes, I've tried the one in Malden "take out" but I think this place is definitely much better!

Yelp
Amazing, traditional Chinese food! I've never really liked American style Chinese food that is overly sweet and sometimes greasy. But, this spot is amazing and I believe keeps true to many of the traditional Chinese flavors. I started off my meal with the hot honey Citron tea. It was delicious, but maybe a bit small for the price. I was hoping to get a teapot full of tea, but instead got one glass. Still delicious, however next time I will pass. Next, for my meal I got the spicy Sichuan noodle soup and a side of the garlic bok choy. Both has an amazing flavor and very filling. Overall, great restaurant. We came here on a Nift deal. However, the service was a little slow and felt like we were forgotten at the end of the meal so I took off one star. But, if you aren't short on time, the food is of high quality.

Yelp
I'm so happy that a place that serves good traditional Chinese food opened up here! The ambience and decor of the restaurant are really nice and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Our waiter was so adorable and so friendly. We got the Asian ribs, Liang Pi, Zha Jiang Mian, and pork belly skewers, all of which were delicious! Definitely will be coming back here again and recommend this place to all my friends!

Yelp
The food was great! We got the chili crab for two, grilled corn, a bunch of skewers, dan dan noodles, chili wontons, double cooked pork fried rice, yam su ji (five spice fried chicken) and the fried buns. The food came out fast and everything taste really good. Out of everything, my favorite items were the grilled corn, chicken skewers, chili crab, and the fried buns. The service was great. The employees were really helpful and attentive. I will be back to try the lobster platter and Beijing duck (you have to preorder at least 24 hours in advance. It also takes an hour to prepare)

Yelp
Service is terrible!!! The waiter disappeared for 5 minutes in the middle of taking our orders. We were not served with water until we asked them. They missed several orders at last. P.S. It was a not busy Saturday afternoon. There were only 5 tables.

Yelp
A very nice dining place to get some Chinese flavor of barbecued meat and vegetables and grilled fish. We tried their barbecued beef, lamb, beef tendon, and classic spicy grill fish, all are excellent. The flavorful smell of the barbecue immediately activated my tastebuds. More importantly, the price is reasonable.

Yelp
OMG! The most authentic Chinese grill fish ever in Boston area!!!! I've tried other places' grill fish and they are not authentic at all. But here in Wu Er, their grill fish is really from the GRILL!! A must try place! And their lamb skewer is also very good too. A nice bbq place, I'll come back for sure.

Excellent food provided by great customer service. If powerful flavorful food is for you come here! You will enjoy a delicious meal. My favorite dish were the ribs. Interior has a cozy modern interior too. Very cool. Ate at this place since its food truck now it's grown to 2 store locations. Well done WOW BBQ!

Yelp
I went this restaurant during an event. Long lines for waiting and no place for seat during the wait. Slow service maybe due to the event. The food is ok. Not too good but no bad neither, barbecue lambs are very special and tasty. But all the other dishes are not special.
