I had the pleasure of visiting Würgeengel in Berlin recently, and it was an outstanding experience. This bar perfectly combines the charm of a laid-back Kreuzberg pub with the sophistication of a well-curated cocktail bar. The atmosphere was incredible—inviting and lively, yet with a touch of elegance. I tried a few gin-based cocktails, and the one with gin and absinthe was absolutely phenomenal. The balance of flavors was perfect. The service was impeccable, thanks to the wonderful staff. Special shoutout to Anna, who, although not the bartender, provided excellent table service. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had a great time. Honestly, with her skills and passion, I’m sure Anna would make an amazing bartender too! If you're in the area and looking for a great spot to enjoy well-crafted drinks and fantastic service, Würgeengel is a must-visit. I'll definitely be back!

Amazing atmosphere! A very rustic and dark ambient environment. Staff were attentive and friendly with my tree nut allergy. Provided a safe service and I loved it! Highly recommend. Jacob was excellent!

Cocktails are very tasty and balanced perfectly. Class bartender and table service also excellent. Can smoke inside so for me without doubt this is an excellent old school BAR!!!

Great place with a classic atmosphere, i generally advice that they could do with some modern additions but i guess vintage is the vibe they are going for, and i appreciate that. All in all, the service was great, the cocktails tasted great too.

Been coming here every now again for the last 15 years for consistently good cocktails. Almost always have a great time, aside from last night, when we sat at the bar (as usual) and were greeted by a barman with the personality of week old porridge and a bad attitude to match. Almost walked out after the way we were spoken to. Would honestly, very happily never step foot in there again, but luckily they have big windows to help avoid the misfortune of his company in the future. Great Japanese whiskey here, p.s.

Charming ace that still delivers after 30 years. Menu seems unchanged, Pflaumen um Speckmantel are still super delicious, interior seems aged while guest seem on their 30s as they were 30 years ago. Cocktails are good.

One of my favourites dirty martini in town

Finally a good cocktail in Berlin. I like to have James Bond moments and order extra dirty vodka martinis. This is the only place that seems to understand how to make it, and stiff. I love this atmosphere and reminds me of some of my favorite bars back home in San Francisco. You'll find a wide range of people in here. From hipster to old man to professor types. It is my favorite place to go when I just want to enjoy a well made drink. It will not disappoint.

I didn't know the mixology craze had gone global, but once I stepped into Würgeengel I knew the fancy cocktails transcended country lines. Plenty of overpriced places exist like this in the U.S. and this place was no different. Funky vibe + overpriced drinks = hipsters dream come true! Truly, although the drinks cost me a days wages, they were awesome. And our waitress was super sweet. If you appreciate a good brew, you'd like this spot. Although I will note the bartenders took his alcohol a little too seriously. When my friend asked for some juice to add to her drink, he almost teared up and said "But it would ruin the alcohol!" #dramatic.

Gin Speakeasy. What they don't know about Gin.. Well cocktails in general isn't worth knowing. Been here a few times now till late and always had a great night full of juniper fuelled conversation.

The WORST SERVICE you can get in a bar, it took FOREVER to get our drinks either beer or cocktails, more staff washing glasses than making drinks. EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNFRIENDLY bartenders, my German friend ordered a drink from a bartender who was washing glass, then the bartender looked up and stared at my friend and showed him the face like we just cursed him: we were all in disbelieve with his reaction. How would this kind of service still exist in 21st century?!?!!! Anyway if you don't want to go to a place where your good mood for nite out could be ruined, then please SKIP this place! I WILL NEVER STEP IN AGAIN!!

Waited at the bar for at least 25 minutes for a cocktail and walked out on a Sunday night. Could be cool but seems like this place caters to smokers who linger way too long with over-priced cocktails.

Würgeengel is a solid bar, of that there is no doubt. Nice atmosphere, decent crowd, good staff. I'd shy away from calling it a great cocktail bar though. The menu is relatively extensive, but I personally don't think of that as a great thing. You might as well do 40 amazing drinks rather than 200 average ones. The most glaring error in my book would be the ice. Ice should be super-cold, so that it doesn't really melt in your drink - if I wanted a glass of water, I'd ask for a glass or water. I'm also not a huge fan of mixing my own drinks, but I guess that's more of a personal preference type of thing.

Bizarre service. Inexplicably rude, bordering on hostile. Don't know what the cocktails taste like--wasn't able to make it that far. Skip it.

Really great spot, great interior, great drinks...just a fabulous bar in Kreuzberg.

My favourite cocktail bar in Berlin. Maybe my favourite bar in Berlin. An old fashioned kind of place, with staff who know how to mix a proper drink - the Whisky Sour and Old Fashioned are my favourites. It's always busy, and you can tell most are regulars. Not a place for a crowd, but perfect for a couple or a small group of friends to catch-up. Some italian food is served - from the restaurant next door (Gorgonzola Club)

This is a good choice if you want to meet some older people but this place is mostly jam-packed! ;-) The service is sometimes not really good, but it depends... The drinks are not cheap but tasteful.

As overrated as they come. Super packed, terrible service - even for Berlin standards. Drinks were OK, not great. Many better places close by.

Cocktail weren't diluted or double strained as needed which made them unbalanced. Service was slow, little attention to non-bar customers. Overrated overall

A friendly barman ....and cool relaxed people...if you are looking for the genuine berlin spirit, you will find it here....but not on the bathrooms, you might find the devil spirit of berlin.

Pretty overpriced and overhyped for a menu that lacks inspiration and drinks that fail to surprise. I happily pay 12-15€ for a good drink. Combined with staff whose unjustified arrogance would suit a Ku'damm yuppie bar, this place doesn't get more than a meh. I've experienced better.

This place is the real deal. Cocktails are well-balanced and the bartenders really let the ingredients shine. Drinks are not cheap but what is in Europe? We sat at the bar so I don't know about the service but my bartender was perfectly friendly and wasn't overly talkative but focused on making me a damn good side car and basil inspired drink so what more do I need?

I cannot remember the cocktail I ordered here. I guess that says something good about my experience at this place. Or it says something bad about me. Anyway, it was good. The menu covers a good variety of spirits, so they have something for everyone. Try it! You will like it! The music was hit or miss. It started off with some jazz that was on the border of good and bad, leaning towards, good. It ended with jazz that was clearly bad.

Wow! The cocktails are great! The bartenders know the perfect combination of all ingredients that a cocktail must have. It is pricey but it is worth it. It gets packed so you might end up stading in the small bar area or if you are lucky you will be able to get a table (or you can reserved one in advanced) for non-smoker this is not your place, well we all know you can smoke everywhere in Berlin. You can also get small plates of food over here which you might need it after those cocktails!

nice cocktail bar in kreuzberg with a good ambience and lack of annoying people. this place attracts a more mature crowd, but i guess you should expect that from a cocktail bar in general. funny how that happens when the prices go up? the prices for straight liquor are actually not very inflated.

Nun es stimmt schon, dass es hier manchmal oder sogar meistens zu verraucht ist und auch das Personal ist machmal nicht freundlich genug. Außerdem zahlt man auch einiges für seine Getränke. Trotzdem komme ich immer wieder gerne zurück und schreibe gerade über den Würgeengel, weil ich einmal 5 Sterne geben wollte.
