Where to Sip on the Best Boba Tea in San Diego

"Another Taiwanese transplant, this chain’s standout drinks include Roasted Oolong milk tea and an orange grapefruit yogurt drink, which can be augmented with mini boba pearls and earthy grass jelly or coffee jelly." - Candice Woo

Finally got to try their Boba tea drinks. A small storefront inside my favorite Asian Supermarket in Convoy St., San Diego, CA. There was a short line of customers which is ok as I needed to understand their menu. I had a taste for Matcha Green Tea with Boba...they only had green tea bags that they brew. I also asked for non-dairy milk option - coconut milk maybe, they didn't have it!. I ended up with a Green Tea Machiatto- which is brewed green tea topped w sweetened heavy creme - very good & rich, and with good Boba pearls at the bottom. I'm just going to give it away as I really cannot drink it but I wanted to taste it. The Green Tea flavor was very weak & watered down, hardly taste it, and the heavy cream took over the whole beverage. The staff was not very engaging, I asked what they could suggest as non-dairy option, and response I received was just a plain "no". It would help to train the staff to be more open to interact with their customers, also...have some non-dairy options. I shall try them again & hopefully, they would have improved service & options.

Google
The line had at least 20 people in it so we though it was going to be amazing. Unfortunately, the tea was very disappointing. It just tasted like milk water without any tea flavor at all. They also served it without ice which was a bit of a bummer. The one good thing was that the boba pearls were pretty good but they put way too many of them! Not sure what all the hype is about and I definitely would not wait in that line again.

Google
I love the way they make their teas. It's a little far from where I am, but I seem to be making more trips out this way for a tea.

Google
They have really delicious drinks. Mocha is good even oolong is good. They don’t have a sour or previous brew taste. drinks and no extra charges with 3 toppings or 4 . I usually go with the mocha latte or roasted oolong milk tea with 3 toppings boba, pearl and grass jelly. ( some people add red beans). The toppings only charge once not individually charge. One large cut size only about the price of @4.25 . So the price is good.Give it a try . Cause its so good, now they even open one in UTC.

Google
I heard that Wushiland is a famous Taiwan boba brand, and it is called yidiandian in China. The mini boba tastes very good, it is softer than the normal boba. Also, I really appreciate Wushiland add-on choices - three add-on mixes with the same money of one add-on only 👍

Google
both their milk teas and fruit teas are fantastic, perhaps my fav in all of SD!!! came with someone, we ordered about 5 drinks and got it in just a few mins cashiers were chill and informative love the red bean milk tea and their orange based fruit teas

Google
The macchiato foam is slightly sweet but in a good way (similar to Koi's foam, which is non-existent in California) It will come to UCSD soon, so Tritons be joy, you will have a second option for boba tea soon in your campus

Annie Shen

Google
-1 star bc the new earl grey tea latte tastes like soap 🥲 the fragrance is wayyy too much. Hopefully they fix the receipt for it! Other than that! I’ve always loved this place. Always get oolong milk tea whenever I’m in town❤️

Yelp
I've been coming to wushiland/ootea since they've opened in 99 ranch and I still love it! My mom loves getting their black milk tea with mini boba and grass jelly. I love their floral jasmine milk tea with grass jelly. I'm really picky with the consistency of grass jelly, and dislike it a lot when it's from the can. Service is awesome when it's slow, so I understand it's more difficult when it's busy as the location is small too. Staff is very helpful when I make mistakes when I order. :)

Yelp
I was on a journey to visit all 3 Wushiland Boba in the San Diego area on the same trip. I had visited the other two locations... one at The Westfield University Town Center and the other one at Kearny Mesa. I had a hard time finding this location because I didn't know it was inside the 99 Ranch Market space. It wasn't until I walked into the area that I saw Wushiland. The space where Wushiland is at now used to be Oo Tea... hopefully, they'll change the business sign soon so people don't get confused. Unfortunately, when I got here, they had already closed. This location closes earlier than the other 2 Wushiland. I was bummed because I wanted to hit all 3 locations on the same trip. Oh well, I'll have to come back next time. See you then!

Yelp
The OO Tea inside the 99 Ranch Market on Clairemont Mesa is actually Wushiland Boba, I did not know that until my boyfriend pointed it out. This is one of his favorite boba places and his go-to is the Roasted Oolong Milk Tea with boba. This tea is good, but I prefer the baby bobas that they have, called "pearls." Their price is considerably cheaper than the Wushiland at the UTC Westfield Mall, but same great quality. Now I know where to go when I want baby bobas! NOTE: They accept credit cards only, no cash.

Yelp
The last two times I've visited, I've been helped by really quick and friendly staff. It's almost as if by the time I'm done ordering and paying, my drink is already finished. Although they're super fast, it doesn't impact the quality of the drink. What's nice about this store is that they only have one drink size- the large. It's one less thing you have to think about when you're ordering. They'll also adjust the sugar and ice level for you if you prefer. What I ordered: the roasted oolong milk tea with boba. Their roasted oolong milk tea is my favorite because the taste of the tea is very strong, and the amount of milk they put never waters down the flavor of the tea. I can't say much about ambiance because this is a takeout only boba shop, but it's in a convenient place- the Ranch 99 grocery store. What I like to do is order my drink and then enjoy it as I'm shopping.
google avatar

David Z.

Yelp
Really love that this place is located in the 99 ranch. Really hate that I'm tempted by boba every time I finish grocery shopping. You order at the counter. Service was quick and easy. My go to quick boba spot. No frills.
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
Yay! They now offer organic fresh milk and oat milk! Was so happy to see those additions instead of only non-dairy creamers. We got the "ovaltine latte organic". It was yummy. I saw they have a green tea latte organic but I wish they offered a jasmine green tea latte organic because jasmine is my fave and I love getting it with oat milk. But I will say the orange grapefruit green tea is soooo good and refreshing on a hot day. The boba is consistent and good. Nicely cooked, nice, size, level of softness and chew. Both sizes are good. I like to get both boba and mini boba (aka pearl) in a drink and it's fun lol. Wushiland is good, consistent and super convenient being in the same location as 99 ranch market.
google avatar

Yelp
For a small store that's constantly busy their service is pretty quick! Their portions are pretty great and they do put a lot of boba which is great :) Here's my favorite go to drink for a classic boba: Brown Sugar Milk Tea with mini boba (pearl) and 50% sugar! My biggest tip is to make sure you shake your drink before inserting your straw. Their brown sugar boba is so good it's also good with earl grey milk tea!

Yelp
E X P E R I E N C E We can also group of 6 on a Sunday afternoon. At around 2 PM it was raining decently hard so a lot of stores were closed at UTC. They had a good job keeping the dirt at bay. drinks were made quickly, within 5-10 mins F O O D earl grey milk tea, less ice, 50% sugar, boba earl grey milk tea, less ice, 30% sugar, boba, coconut jelly milk tea, less ice 50% sugar, boba milk tea, regular ice, 50% sugar, boba drinks were way too sweet, even at 30% sugar, tastes artificial. the flavor balance of the milk tea was poorly done. boba was cooked al dente. P R I C E around 7 per drink

Yelp
Their Roasted Oolong Milk Tea is usually my go-to. I like how they only have one size (large) drinks and their pricing is very reasonable. They also allow you to do half/half toppings while only paying the price of adding 1 (haven't heard of other boba shops allowing that). They are also one of the few boba shops that offer baby boba. I bet their ice cream milk teas are delicious but I'm usually trying to stay healthy haha.
google avatar

Ginger P.

Yelp
I really enjoy the roasted oolong milk tea. The main draw of Wushiland/Oo Tea for me is that they offer mini boba (pearls). Sometimes when I'm craving that texture, I think of Wushiland. They give a very generous portion of the pearls, too. I wasn't as big of a fan of the green tea Yakult. No such thing as ambience here because it's a walk-up counter at 99 ranch. Service is ok.
google avatar

Shaun R.

Yelp
Wushiland Boba at The UTC mall Nice ambiance decent service Have your Boba food and walk the mall to shop
google avatar

Crystal H.

Yelp
The customer service was terrible. I walked up to the register and greeted the cashier and she didn't even respond and just asked me what I wanted...also, I asked for 50 percent sweet and they gave me 80. Boba was yummy tho.
google avatar

Susan Z.

Yelp
Location was a bit hard to find as it was inside a 99 ranch. Ordered a 50% sugar roasted oolong milk tea with mini boba. Loved the texture of the boba and actually was my first time trying mini boba. Really enjoyed the boba as unlike the normal size I didn't have to chew as much and still was able to appreciate the slight chewiness. 50% sugar was the perfect level here for sweet but not too sweet as I find occasionally 50% will land you in the sweeter side. I also found the prices to be reasonable as it's hard to find 5 dollar boba nowadays. Would come back to try different flavors with the mini boba.

Yelp
This is by far the best Wushiland out of all locations and no o e can change my mind. I've tried the SGV locations in San Gabriel and Arcadia as well as UTC and it never hits like it does here!! I still remember it having the Oo tea sign! My go to is the Jasmine green milk tea with 50% sugar, less ice and light regular boba. It hits everytime and it's just so good. The tea is strong where I can still taste it, but at the same time it's pretty creamy. Boba is sweetened just right and texture is on point. I always need to stop by this Wushiland (and Camelia Road lol) when I'm in this area. It's a crime if I don't come by!!
google avatar

Elisa L.

Yelp
One of my fav boba places in SD! My go to's are the ice cream boba milk tea or the boba milk tea. Their milk tea is my favorite at any boba spot, it's perfectly sweet and refreshing. The ice cream milk tea is great when you're craving something sweet, and it's so creamy and delicious. The boba is always a perfect mix of soft and chewy and they're always consistent with their boba and drinks! The drinks only come in one large size so the prices are decent considering how large it is.
google avatar

Hurjane V.

Yelp
Solid boba, can't go wrong. We came here before heading to the airport, and we got our drinks quickly. I tried their new drink, the earl grey milk tea. SO GOOD. Boba was solid, and literally filled up half a cup. Of all the boba places on Convoy, this is probably still my favorite spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Wushiland is inside the Ranch 99 grocery market. Also, if you are the type of boba drinker to like both normal sized and teeny tiny boba's (or pearls as they call it here), this is your spot! I've kept Wushiland on my radar for quite some time, and honestly...it was totally worth it. I'm always pretty skeptical about boba that's inside an Asian market. Came with a friend at the end of our day, and I was excited to try a milk tea with lots of chewy goodness. I'm a big fan of all toppings from boba to lychee jelly to egg pudding. So I went with their milk tea with boba, pearl and grass jelly. The tea tasted really good, def more on the milky side compared to other boba spots here. The service is very efficient and kind, that's a plus. There was barely a line when we ordered, so everything moved quickly. I liked my choice, all of the toppings were great--I just wish there were more boba and pealrs in it. I got good mouthfuls of grass jelly which was nice. I'm pretty bougie when it comes to my boba, so I would like to give them another try to sample a different tea and just focus on the tapioca toppings. Their grass jelly was hella good, thicc, nice consistency, but I'll def be back to get a drink with a bigger focus on their boba AND pearls.

Yelp
I was shopping in the mall with some friends and wanted to stop in and grab a tea! My friend had been here before and loved it. I ordered the Milk Tea with 70% sweetness. Sometimes I can never tell if 70% or 50% is better for me since I don't love my milk teas to be too sweet. The 70% sweetness though was perfect! They only have one size and I'd consider it a large. The drink was creamy and the black tea flavor was really good! I usually don't finish my drinks very quickly but I finished it by the time I left the mall! The employee who took the order was helpful with explaining how they have one size and was quick make the drink. Definitely worth the stop in when walking around UTC!
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
One of my favorite boba places! My go to drinks here is the roasted oolong milk tea, ice cream milk tea or just a simple jasmine green tea. They give a lot of boba here and they also have baby boba! One of their popular drink is the red bean milk tea but I haven't tried it yet. That will be for my next visit!
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
Love Wushiland Boba! Stopped in after shopping at 99 ranch. I love the oolong milk tea. It's so great that they have the option for pearl (small size boba) so much easier to drink. Also, appreciate that you can choose from various sweetness levels to better suit your needs. I wasn't sure what level I wanted but I tried both the 30% and the 50% to compare. The 50% is definitely the way to go! Sweet enough to enjoy the drink as a dessert but not so sweet that you can't finish it! The 30% sweetness tasted like tea, which is fine, but probably not the taste you want when drinking boba. All in all a great place, will definitely be back. And, I totally appreciate all the options.
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
This is one of the best milk teas I've ever had! The tea was rich and the milk made the drink very creamy. The boba was perfect texture. I got light sweet and light ice and thought that the drink was still pretty sweet. Next time, I will opt for even less sweetener. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area!!

Vivian L.

Yelp
This location no longer cash either UTC mall They only accept credit cards not cash So they mostly lose more customers. And their drink tastes ok I think their prices is little over priced. I don't come anymore their service is terrible is awful double zero
google avatar

Jojo P.

Yelp
The only place I know of that makes a boba tea with chocolate Ovaltine. For me, that gets all my 5 stars!
google avatar

Hubert L.

Yelp
When you want a drink, you look for taste, price, creativity, and value. These days, having just 1 of these is not enough, with boba becoming all the rage. Ootea has withstood the test of time and consistently delivered great milk tea, at an amazing price, in large quantities. What they lack in creativity, they excel in the other areas. I love this place and I would make a stop every time I'm in the area! Curious to try all drinks!
google avatar

Valerie Y.

Yelp
Loved Wushiland! It's located inside a 99 Ranch so you can come get some boba right before you go shopping. I got a Green Tea Yakult with Pearls and it was delightful. The bubbles were very chewy! I would definitely come back and get boba from this chain.
google avatar

Annie Y.

Yelp
There are plenty of parking spaces. The store is located inside 99 Ranch. You'll see the sign called "OO Tea", but that's actually Wushiland Boba. I got the Orange Grapefruit Yogurt and it was pretty good! I couldn't taste the orange but definitely tasted the grapefruit. It wasn't bitter at all, but it was pretty sweet. They made the drinks pretty fast, so the wait wasn't so long. Recommendation(s): - Orange Grapefruit Yogurt - Service: 5/5 Tip(s): - Accept Apple Pay - It's called "OO Tea" inside 99 Ranch
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Wushiland Boba is located inside 99 Ranch as 'Oo Tea'. I decided to try out Wushiland this past weekend and boy.. it was crowded af. I guess it makes sense because their boba was actually pretty good. My boyfriend and I got the Roasted Oolong Milk Tea with boba and it was so yummy. I'm not a huge milk tea fan, but this just hits the spot. Not too sweet even though I got 100% and the boba was so good. The only downside was ruined my experience was that we had order two other bobas for my friend and we had to wait 30 minutes for more Roasted Oolong Milk Tea even though the cup was 2/3 already filled up. I guess the Roasted Oolong was popular that day, but maybe they should be more organized with how much tea needs to be made to prevent this from happening. Luckily I decided to eat Sam Woos for dinner inside 99 ranch so I didn't mind waiting, but if I wasn't, I would have asked for a refund.
google avatar

Melinda H.

Yelp
Honestly my favorite boba spot in San Diego. The store front is nothing special but the boba is truly 10/10. I love getting the roasted oolong milk tea as the flavor is so good! I also love this spot because they have mini boba which imo is better than regular. I always get boba here whenever I'm craving it!
google avatar

Lana T.

Yelp
Wow! What happened to this place? I came here 6 years ago around their opening and their drinks were the bomb!!! It had competed with Tea Station (which is a quality tea boba shop up there) for my business. Back then, they were known as OO Tea. I have been to this location and the other in UTC and I hate to say this, but their quality has gone down. Idk when or if they had new ownership or re-branding of their franchise, but bring back OO Tea and their quality drinks from the early days. I was visiting SD today and got their basic milk tea which tasted so milked down and less tea-like, I felt like I was drinking fancy milk with boba! This was second time having this experience at both locations so I guess things have changed. Sad bc this place brought memories during my SD days!
google avatar

Eunice H.

Yelp
Super consistent, high quality boba right here at UTC! The boba is always cooked perfectly with that perfect chewiness and slight sweetness. We get their 1) roasted oolong milk tea with 70 percent sweetness and regular ice. It's copacetic. We also love their 2) orange grapefruit yakult with coconut jelly. Superrr refreshing with real grapefruit pieces. The coconut jelly is chewy and compliments the drink well.
google avatar

Bo K.

Yelp
Located inside the same plaza as 99 Ranch Market, this spot is convenient to get to while you're doing your grocery shopping. Fairly priced with a nice variety of drink options. Tapioca was too soft and milk tea lacked both tea and milk (was probably made with non-dairy milk powder). If I were craving bubble tea and shopping at 99, I'd probably get it again but I wouldn't go out of my way to return.
google avatar

Michele M.

Yelp
There are typically a short wait at Qushiland. Their boba is so good and they have mini boba (pearl) too! I feel like most boba places don't have that option. We got the oolong milk tea from the popular drinks menu. You can adjust the sugar levels and we adjusted it to 50% and it was perfect when paired with the pearls. It has a strong tea flavor and I would definitely come back fro the pearls.
google avatar

Emily N.

Yelp
This is probably a really long overdue review but this is my #1 boba place! I'm glad they can fix my drinks when it doesn't taste right. I usually get the regular milk tea and sometimes ovaltine. Thankful they finally made an app so I can get my orders quicker and easily track my rewards! Seriously, they should open another store at Clairemont Town Square since there's plenty of vacant spaces there!
google avatar

Alan S.

Yelp
I made a large order for 20 drinks to be picked up at a certain time. The staff coordinated well and I was able to get my drinks on time and with ease. They packaged the majority of the drinks in a box with bubble wrap. I thought that was a smart way to deliver so many drinks. I would say it is fresh, workers are nice, and the milk tea is good at 50% sweet---it's still sweet but hey that is boba for you. The price is a bit high as my total came out to be $140 for 20 drinks but you have to consider the location and the boba options. I think Wushiland will last for some time around UTC unless more and more boba places pop up to diversify the local boba tastes.
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
The only boba good here is oolong tea boba. The bad review is customer service. The grapefruit drink is not so much fruity but way more bitter. We tried switching it and they didn't want to switch it out for us. They asked us to buy a new one.. each boba drink cost average 7$. Any other place would have switched it out. I hope owner sees this
google avatar

Paul K.

Yelp
Consistently good boba and quick friendly service. I'm a regular here and usually get the regular milk tea. They are generous with the amount of boba and drinks usually come out perfect at 50% sweet. Not a fan of the new tablet ordering system as it's kind of finicky but it does expedite things. Would recommend for a solid regular boba spot
google avatar

Jaclyn Y.

Yelp
Really enjoy the pearls (mini boba) here! The milk teas are good, and so is the grapefruit orange yakult or the orange yakult. Comes out to about $8 a drink though...
google avatar

Sylvia H.

Yelp
OOtea has the best grass jelly. Hands down. It's so silky, yet earthy, and flavorful. Paired with their milk tea, it's definitely my go-to. I've tried a few other drinks but just can't go wrong with the grass jelly milk tea.
google avatar

Kris P.

Yelp
I come here when it's convenient. They have consistently good boba consistency - and also offer mini boba (pearls). The milk teas are pretty good and usually what I order. All the non-caffeinated drinks have dairy, which is an issue for those with allergies - like my daughter. Service is fast and efficient, though not overly friendly; and I'd say my review is the about the same as their service.
google avatar

Julie G.

Yelp
Ordered 3 drinks today, and I just found a fly inside my roasted oolong milk tea with ice cream. Thank you for the protein.
google avatar

Carmel G.

Yelp
Generous portion size and good level of sweetness. Usually requesting for low sugar boba still tastes too sweet, but this was exactly the way I like it. There was a long line but it went by quickly.
google avatar

Susanna L.

Yelp
This is my FAVORITE boba place in San Diego, no question about it. It's important to note that this is located in Ranch 99 and it isn't a stand-alone boba shop with seating. When they first opened, my friends took me to try it, wanting to see if this store lived up to its counterpart in Taiwan (50Lan or Wushiland as I was told). Spoiler Alert: it absolutely did. My go-to drink here is their orange green tea, but I've also tried (and loved) their yogurt green tea as well. Their tea is always freshly made and you can really taste the difference compared to other boba shops I've tried in the SD area. If you're looking for a great cup of boba (and happen to be doing some shopping in Ranch 99), then I highly highly recommend giving OOTea / Wushiland a try!
google avatar

Mary X.

Yelp
I heard this is the same as the Fiftylan chain in Taiwan so I was so excited to try. It had the mini pearls that no other shop had, so I got that in my black milk tea which comes in only one large size cup. Overall the drink was average and the tea flavor wasn't that strong. I tend to like milk tea that's more tea forward. I enjoyed the pearls, though.

Lindsey S.

Yelp
Love this place! Limited selection of teas but they have variety of ways you can have it. Their boba is really good and they give you a lot of it. You can order from their kiosk or from the staff, who are super friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Tiffany P.

Yelp
My boba drink gave me GOOSEBUMPS. I was in shock. The roasted oolong milk tea was SILKY smooth and carried a strong dark tea flavor. The little pearls scrambling everywhere on my tongue was such a fun sensation.,
google avatar

nadine f.

Yelp
Wushiland, an amazing place to just get a regular milk tea. I love the way the mini boba is cooked to perfection! The service of this area is nice and that they get the job done. The ambiance of this place is very straightforward as they are placed in a market. Definitely would come here often
google avatar

Carolyn W.

Yelp
My favorite boba place here in San Diego! This is the same franchise as 50岚 in Taiwan. The menu is not as large as the one in Taiwan but the flavor is similar and authentic. Plus they also have the tiny pearls 珍珠 as an option instead of the regular boba size 波霸. I recommend the jasmine green milk tea and roasted oolong milk tea at 50% sugar and less ice. Definitely try the small pearls! All drinks are one size (large).
google avatar

Vivian R.

Yelp
Hidden gem located in 99 Ranch! My friend recommended this spot and I RAN to go try it! They give you a TON of boba... like, I have to ask for half Boba because they give you so much! That being said, their boba is delicious and has the perfect texture of not being too chewy. My only complaint about this place is that they have a weird hours and close pretty early... And they may run out of Boba or milk tea if you go later. Such a bummer though because this place is SO. GOOD. Although the hours aren't the best, I will continue to support this spot because their boba is on point.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Got the grass jelly milk tea with 30% sugar and no ice. No complaints from me! The tea flavor is strong and for the price compared to other boba places now it's definitely a good value.
