The Biggest Restaurant Openings in New Orleans, Fall 2018 | Eater New Orleans

"At 201 Baronne Street in the CBD, Sandra and Corey Duckworth are opening a second Sassafras location that brings the Gentilly restaurant’s Creole soul-food staples—stuffed bell peppers, seafood pasta, and fried catfish topped with shrimp étouffée—to a hotel setting with a full bar and weekend brunch service." - Stephanie Carter

Room was clean and comfortable but the walls are paper thin. Windows face into the atrium/hallways. Noisy drunk patrons hanging out in the hallway and front desk staff don’t enforce rules. Don’t expect a good night’s sleep. You can smell odors from adjoining rooms through the bathroom vents. Housekeeping must be requested by 8:30am, they don’t even empty trash daily. Location is convenient to both business district and the French Quarter.

A friend and I had booked this hotel not expecting it to be super fancy but to get the job done. Initially, the hotel seemed dated and run down, but we were willing to give the benefit of the doubt. When we had checked in, we overhead another guest complaining to a person behind the desk that their room was dirty and not what they expected. With that in mind, we decided to check the room over carefully. As I was checking the beds for bed bugs, as I do in every hotel, what I found was so much worse. The sheets were covered in what looked like blood or poop or some bodily fluid. It was absolutely disgusting. We brought this up to the manager and they were shocked but also seemed like they didn’t believe us. Luckily they gave us a refund and we were able to find many nicer hotels only a block or 2 away. Save yourself the time and money and don’t bother booking here.

Google
The Good: The location is very convenient. One block away from Canal St and St Charles Street car lines, and just a few blocks walk from the French Quarter. The front desk staff was also very kind. The Bad: The hotel is old and needs updating. We booked a king suite- the room was large and half empty- we could have had a roller skating party. Getting a suite was pointless-save your money. The bathroom had a gigantic, broken spa tub with shower. It was difficult to step into- and slippery!! Please consider installing a railing/bar before someone falls. The room smelled musty and was dark with no outside windows. The window looked into the hallway. Room had a fridge, safe, coffee pot, and iron (broken). Microwave was in the lobby. The elevators were broken for most of our 5 day stay. We were on the 4th floor- that got old very quickly. You must request housekeeping services and fresh towels from the front desk. The walls are very, very thin, and quiet hours are not enforced. There were multiple nights where I was woken up by yelling, laughing, and music in the hallways and connecting rooms. To summarize- good: location, and nice staff. Bad: nearly everything else.

Yodit A.

Google
The room was spacious, but the pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. We had to ask each time to have the room cleaned and to get fresh towels. Even after requesting service, the room was still not cleaned when we came back. It also seemed like the hotel was very short-staffed, which affected the overall experience.

Google
Loved our stay there! Came from New Zealand and after 3 flights it was lovely to relax in our room. The staff at the front desk were amazing and very friendly, easy check in and check out, close to everything and only down the road from Canal Street and a few blocks away from Bourbon Street. Our room was nice, we were really only in there after our days / nights of exploring. Will hopefully return one day soon!

Tina B.

Google
This hotel is very close to everything in downtown New Orleans, however, when we checked in there was only one front desk person and he was doing check in for guests, the garage, and troubleshooting other issues. We felt really bad for the front desk. Most of their hotel cards to get into the rooms weren’t working. One elevator was also down. Our room had comfortable beds but our bathroom had random clothes under the bathroom sink and vent in bathroom didnt work to clear out stream after showers. This hotel is ok but maybe look elsewhere.

Google
convenient location, definitely no frills, a bit old and dusty looking, but overall okay. the lobby needs a good vacuuming and the rooms need a deep dusting but the bed and bathroom were clean! most of the rooms are interior without a window to outside. there’s a “window” into the hallway.

Matt T.

Google
Room has a very musty odor. I'm guessing from the hydro tub that don't work, that needs to be flushed, vents were extremely dirty. No windows in room 418 or any other on that side of the parking garage, and it echoes at night from the lobby with a drunk guests which is okay cuz that's why we're here. However, I'm on the fourth floor they're in the lobby on first floor, pillows were hard as a rock. Bed was okay but stiff ,room was a decent size, it's better at than sleeping in the street with the homeless. However for 350 bucks a night I feel I got robbed. I've been coming to New Orleans for over 30 years and I will not be back to this hotel

Yelp
Formally the Sears building many moons ago. They've done a very good job of restoring and updating the decor. A couple of hiccups with my Rather, large truck and available parking but other than that, not a bad place to stay overnight for what our plan was. I must give kudos to the front desk clerk Ayana and the maintenance gentleman Martin, who is extremely helpful to us. Don't forget to visit Classic down in the coffee bar. He's amazing! The staff is so friendly. This hotel will definitely be back.

Yelp
The hotel has potential. Room 314 stinks they need to fix that mold and toilet sewer smell. If they book a reunion they need to save rooms on a different floor from the kids. If you book a nice room they should provide the same or better if you have to move due to issues. Major water damage on the ceilings of 5th floor. They need to fix the elevator that's been broken for months. Corporate needs to spend some money on cleaning that location up. It's perfect for access to French Quarter and bourbon street. Great food within 2 blocks. Short walk to trolly system They only get a 2 because they put us in a crappy room after 3 previous moves due to room problems

Yelp
Wyndham Garden Hotel Baronne Hotel I forgot to attach my Room # 215, not happy. But, I'll pay the deposit I have it, but not to the rude gentleman. I'll wait until another person comes to the front desk, nicer and give my money. My husband is also a military veteran and he just landed from Charlotte, NC. Again, it's not the money....Austin Tartt

Yelp
The good: the bed was comfortable. The room was clean. The a/c worked fabulously, but did not have an auto feature. It did a good job keeping rhe humidity down in the room. The hotel was secure. There was a business center. The decor was a nod to old hotel glamour and you could see traces of its bones as an old Sears & Robuck building. The layout and balcony opening from the 5th floor to the lobby was a hit with the kids. This hotel is convconvenient to the French quarquarter, the Cen Business District, Tulane, Loyola, and the stadium. We were able to walk to everything. The meh: The parking garage was nerve-wracking to enter & exit & difficult to navigate. It does not have a lot of space, so at hotel capacity, you will not be able to get a spot. The walls were very thin. We could here everything outside the room and then some. There was a 1 1/2 inch gap below the room door, so this contributed to the noise. The bath towels were super thin. There was a slippery film on the shower floor that eventually cleared out. The elevator was not well lit. There was no easy interior way to get from the parking garage to the hotel interior. I recommend unloading & loading bags by the entrance before parking (that is also a hotel recommendation). There was a gym with good equipment, but our key cards never worked & we had to get hotel staff to let us in each time we used it.

Yelp
Came here for the first time with my family. We stayed a few nights visiting New Orleans. It's a great location and walking distance to all the action. It's within 20mins to everything. Saves a lot of money on parking whenever you visit these attractions. Anyways, we stayed in Room 423 and is roomy. They gave us a room usually reserved for disabled guests. The room appeared clean for the most part. A/C works very well. There is a small safe in the closet, small ice bucket, coffee machine, and a small fridge. There is no microwave or dresser which was pretty lame. One of their outlet covers was completely missing exposing the wires which is dangerous. The ceiling had a huge water leak stain. The bathroom was way warmer than the room itself so we kept the bathroom door closed because it also had a strong stale-like mildew smell that spread into our room if you left the door open. I think it's coming from the shower drain. There is mildew on the floor which is gross so shower shows is recommended. They charge for laundry service, but we didn't use that service. Their lobby is beautiful. Small computer room and seating area. There's a Ballroom, but I think it's under renovation. The floors are beautiful as well. I think they're understaffed because I've seen the hotel host also mop the piss that someone did in one of the 2 elevators. They have a small gym, but it does the job. They have an ATM, vending machine and a microwave. No swimming pool. There's also an Indian restaurant on the 1st floor that always smells good, but we never got a chance to eat there. They had a cafe, but it's under renovation. The garage is dark and shady even during the day. The ramp is a one way in, one way out and crazy tight so if you have anything larger than a Nissan Rogue, you'll almost definitely hit the sides. They give you an orange tag to show on the camera when you're trying to enter, but I find it ridiculous that you have to exit your vehicle to reach the button to get buzzed in. There is no garage elevator so it's recommended to load or unload your vehicle before entering/exiting the garage. They charge $39 a night which isn't too bad.

Yelp
You can hear everything. The doors were slamming all night long. The phone didn't work. The light on the fire alarm stayed on all night. We never saw cleaning people. Our key cards stopped working and maintenance had to take the door apart for us to get in it. The manager was very nice but this was the most unrestful hotel. The rooms weren't clean. This hotel needs an overhaul.

Yelp
We had the best stay at THIS hotel, not the Hilton, that my original review went under? We stayed here 5 days & had a wonderful experience with the room, the staff & being central to everything we wanted to see on our 1st trip to NOLA. The standout employee was Charles Waiswa who was friendly, accommodating to our requests & always with a smile on his face.

Yelp
This was a disgusting experience! I came to stay with my 4 children! There was pubic hair on the beds, pubic hair all over the bathrooms, and after several instances of requesting a new room, they kept giving me a room dirtier than the previous one. Very unprofessional, zero solutions! When I asked for a manager, they told me everything but the truth. Even the front desk supervisor failed to address the issue! Very low quality experience and a shame that Wyndham has their name on this.

Yelp
The hotel is dated not anyplace to chill. Lobby is limited. Clean but smells funny

Margaret P.

Yelp
Stayed here 5 nights with my grand daughter. The hotel was nice enough-clean, AC worked well, and nice beds-until this morning. I was woke up by the sound of a security guard evicting the person next door. I kind of thought this place might be a little "iffy," not knowing New Orleans. Guess I was correct. I would spend the money to stay closer to Canal St, or another Main Street. I'm thankful they have a security guard, but Rudd awakening for our last morning. I'm hoping my granddaughter sleeps through this!

Johanny G.

Yelp
Room was dirty, sink was clogged key stopped working, had to get our own towels and the room never got cleaned by housekeeping. Front desk attendant was rude and not helpful
google avatar

Allison R.

Yelp
Do not stay here! It was filthy. My boyfriend was trapped in an elevator. The fire dept had to be called. Turns out two ladies had been also trapped in it prior to him. Not impressed at all.

M G.

Yelp
The room was filthy, dirty and nasty. The manager called to spoke with me and she had a rude tone. She stated she did not see anything wrong with the room and it was clean. She supposedly sent someone to re-clean the room, however the thing's complained about were not touched. The only cleaned the mini fridge and sprayed some air fresher. The floors were still dirty. The parking garage was deem and dirty, did not seem safe considering you have to get out of the car to push the button for them to let you in. The stairwell from the parking basement was dirty and stinky, parking is not ADA compliant since it does not have an elevator.

Yelp
Perfectly average, but so depressing having no light except some dim tan-ness from the atrium. Unbelievably cold and severe (the ambience). I asked about a different room, but it was going to be another $150+ on my stay. Sigh. The walls are so thin that even with an earplug and some nature sounds playing on my iPhone I could hear the neighbors talking. And the pillows are rock hard. I feel so depressed in this room, to the point that I'm trying to stay away.
google avatar

Sherry N.

Yelp
The two stars are for the front desk staff and esthetics. No food on premises except vending machine. A couple of blocks from Canal street. Forget housekeeping. You have to request it 24 hours in advance before nine AM. We got a room with a window looking into the hall. Very depressing. I guess I was expecting much more from Wyndham.
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
service was bad and hotel was gross. at first, we had to call maintenance to give us a new fridge because ours wouldn't close. then, we just ended up moving rooms because the air conditioner was broken. then, in our new room, the fridge was also broken. our friends staying in a different room found cockroaches everywhere as well and their parking garage is so horrible.

Andrea C.

Yelp
Hotel is in a great location for walking to all the main streets and attractions. Lobby was beautiful and staff very friendly. What was not impressive was the parking garage, very tight and very sketchy. Also, during our trip the cafe was closed for renovation, would have been nice if the hotel offered some sort of coffee in the morning.

Yelp
We recently stayed (last 3 nights) at the Wyndham garden inn on Barrone st in New Orleans. We often stay at Wyndham properties when traveling and this has to have been the WORST experience to date. In fact our stay at a Wyndham super 8 on 3/15/23 was superior to what we experienced for 3 nights at 4+ times the cost ($65 a night vs $216 (before taxes and add on fees) a night). 1. We were NOT notified before booking that there would be NO housekeeping available while staying at the location. While I can appreciate saving on washing etc, we came to NOLA and walked the area an overage of 10miles a day ... the area is dirty and and you walk in nasty things on bourbon st. and to know nothing was ever cleaned while we were there is completely unacceptable. We had a PILE of wet towels by the time we left. 2. Speaking of towels upon check in I was told to let them know if we needed more towels and they would get them for us. The next day we stopped at the desk to let them know we'd at least like clean towels. We were told no problem. Upon return there were no towels waiting. I went down to the front desk to ask why there were not towels delivered I was told (very rudely) "no ma'am. You gots to get them yo-self" why am I staying at a "nice" hotel is I need to do it myself. 3. We paid for onsite parking at $25 a day (complete rip off when there is a parking garage a block away you can alert guests too. But we were told this was our only option. Not only can you barely get in the parking lot of the hotel, you can't do so without scraping the hell out of the bottom of your car. Then you have guests taking 2 & 3 spots to "protect" their cars so the garage is over sold and when you stop to report to the front desk that you paid for parking and can't you are told "sorry we will start calling ppl if we can figure out their cars to owner." But yet we PAID for a space. Also a one way in same way out came VERY close to causing a serious head on accident when someone attempted to whip in and down the entrance while we were 2/3rds the way up the ramp. If your hotel is not going to have ANY AMENITIES you should charge accordingly. I could have paid $12 more and stayed at a boutique hotel w/ full amenities where our friends stayed. No restaurant, no lobby bathrooms, refusal to enforce the quite times or number of people in a room (I signed a document stating no more than 3 ppl in a king room, yet the room next to us had 5 people in it who partied loudly until 2:18am Friday night at 3:30 last night which has me making my 9 hour drive home with very little sleep), no housekeeping and rude desk staff... then charge accordingly! When I checked out today the lady working the front desk said "I'd ask you how it was but I already know it's pretty shitty to stay here" what a great show for your hotel brand. This is honestly the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Thank you for your time, please do better.

Yelp
This hotel was just okay. We got a hotel room that didn't have a window of the outdoors. We got a window, but it was just looking inside the hotel which made it really hard because it didn't feel like morning to me since natural light wasn't coming in. The bed was not the best, it felt cheap and crinkly. I don't know if those are the best words to describe it but it was just okay to me. It was a quick check in, quick check out. It's walking distance to bourbon street and other locations without being right in the middle of the party so you don't really hear music from the outside. I mean, my room wasn't bordering the outside anyway. But still. They don't have room service and they told us that unless you request it from them. They were able to extend check out to 12:30 instead of 12 when I asked that morning. There's restaurants nearby. It was one of the cheaper hotels in the area but of course the price was more expensive since we stayed during new years weekend. Overall, it's okay. Nothing special.

Yelp
My husband and I came to NOLA so I could participate in my commencement ceremony for a Masters program and stayed here for 3 nights. Despite having booked and paid for a King room two months prior, the concierge told us they "sold out". He put us in a double "suite" that felt dark and felt a bit dirty. There weren't mentionable amenities and the staff wasn't overly polite. We were told that housekeeping only worked certain days and our room wasn't cleaned at all during our stay. If you need a centrally located, fairly priced placed to sleep, this might be your place.

Yelp
How nice! Definitely a three stars hotel! If it wasn't for the nice people working the front desk, then I might have to reconsider. To my surprise, the day we arrived, we were in the mix with a biker gang meet up. During the whole weekend while we were there too, the bikers population also got bigger from more out of towners But it was all good. They look intimidating, which is how they're suppose to look? But they're nice people, since I also got the chance to chit-chatting with a few them hanging out in the lobby. Something different... Yes, almost got in the middle of a lovers quarrel outside while we were walking back to the hotel. Anyhow, the first three days we had a horrible room. So horrible that the room's window was facing the hallway. Can't get use to that... Lol. The room had two queen beds, but was really small. The shower probably had a leak in the back somewhere since the showers had wet patches all over the bottom. It was kind of gross that granite soap dish was improperly installed (upside down), so all the dirty shower water filled up the whole dish. My bed was also uncomfortable. I sleep on my back usually, and whoever that slept on it before probably weighed a ton... Because my bed tilts to the right, so I had to sleep on the left side away from the center to even out the bed. The fourth night we changed rooms. Because front desk messed up on our reservations somehow, by making us wait a couple hours after check in time, they gave us a suite! I knew we should have partied inside with the others from the tradeshow since it was much roomier. My bed was waaay more comfortable, the room had a window, and it was also much cleaner. However, soap dish was installed the same way... Upside down! And yes, the shower filled the dish again. Oh well... The soap dish thing is minor. So no worries about it. The experience was good the latter half of the trip. I believe the front desk people made the difference. Very professional and polite. I really liked them... So much that they started joking about too. Overall, my experience at Wyndham Garden Hotel was good. Nothing spectacular, but just good. Thanks for the hospitality!

Yelp
On the 2nd night of my stay at Wyndham Garden Baronne, I woke up around midnight to red liquid dripping down my AC vent. It looked like wine or blood to me, and the maintenance gentleman theorized it might be rust, which is not reassuring either, coming from potentially lead pipes in the system as these buildings are OLD. This experience not only woke me up in the middle, it prevented me from sleeping until much later that night and I woke up several times from my sleep due to that disturbance. Furthermore, I feel I had to fight for a room switch, as the male manager that night told me he'd look for a new room for me only if I really needed to as they were nearly full, which is about as tone deaf as you can get. The morning lady managers were all very professional and nice by the way, but that night manager needs some empathy training. The next day, Priceline tried to contact the hotel manager Candice Hudson several times but did not succeed, once around 11am ET, another time at 4pm. I had called them early that morning to ask that if I could get a refund that day, I would have switched hotels to give my room back the last night. Alas, they couldn't reach the manager so I had to stay one more night, and I woke up twice that night too. This impacted my business trip quite a bit as I had morning work and night outings (being in New Orleans), and to not be able to then come back and sleep well was horrible. The main purpose of a hotel is to provide that, which is why I then asked for a refund, and so far have been unsuccessful. One last note, their WiFi drops repeatedly, so I would not recommend it at ALL as a work hotel. It is also an independently owned Wyndham, so is not subject to the same consistency and regulation as other ones.

Yelp
Pros: Location and price. Cons: Not the cleanest, needs a renovation, parking deck didn't seem very secure. No room service. No windows in room. Felt a little claustrophobic..

Yelp
I must say I was expecting much more as it relates to Wyndham. If you enjoy firm (feels like the mattress my grandparents had from the 50's, but in the 80's) mattresses, you will enjoy this hotel. In addition, if hard as bricks pillows are your preference, you will enjoy those as well. Breakfast is not provided, but the hotel is close to the French Quarter. I have stayed in four different hotels in New Orleans, including this one, and will not be coming back to this one.

Yelp
I was a little concerned when we drove up in the airport taxi and there were boarded up windows. That really needs to be fixed right away. I did see PJs Café but I did NOT notice a restaurant that was suppose to be in the hotel. I stayed during the Essence Festival (Friday-Monday). We were a mile from the Superdome, a mile from the convention center and 1.5 blocks from Canal street. The staff was friendly and nice. Everyone seemed to be very accommodating. Rooms were clean and very comfy. Our rooms were cleaned EVERYDAY. Lobby was well lit. Taxis were called for us when we needed them. Directions to restaurants and other sites were given in detail.
google avatar

Kristynella C.

Yelp
Perks: near french quarters, near canal st, near good restaurants. Has decent basement parking for $20/day. Cons: not so clean. Our bathroom had a clump of hair extensions clinging from the shower wall. all of us have black hair and the clump of hair was light brown. Toilet bowl had weird stains on it.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was after reading some of the previous reviews. I arrived earlier than expected and was greeted by 2 friendly front desk staff. My room was very clean and comfortable. I went on a tour and the front desk greeted me when I got back and asked if I enjoyed the tour. Everything was great. I would recommend the hotel to anyone. It was convenient to everything and slept well here.

Yelp
This Wyndham property should be given a rating of 0-1 stars. One star because the lights go on the staff is friendly. The halls are dirty, the elevator is very dirty, and the bath towels are small. They clean the room and do not replace the towels and paper goods with the proper amounts. This was not a cheap hotel. For the amount this hotel charges, do yourself a big favor and find a hotel in the area, spending a little more money so that you have an enjoyable stay in Nawlins! The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbor guests talking in their rooms. You can hear "everything" from the adjacent rooms. The first day the room cleanup was skipped and not made up until we pointed it out to the manager Dashone, a very nice person who appears to have his hands tied by the owner (He did his very best). The second night we got back at 5 pm to get ready for a nice dinner and again the room had not been cleaned up. One of the most DISGUSTING issues with this property is that on Sunday morning, I went down to the in house coffee shop to purchase coffee and 2 bagels. They sell bagels with butter or cream cheese. The person working there had 100% NO Utensils at all, and I had to use my fingers (I'm a health professional) to break the stick butter at the counter and then had to take to my room and we had to use our fingers to put it on the bagels. The butter I had to break at the counter was then put back in the fridge at the coffee counter and probably served to someone else. (A major health violation issue I will assume). When I asked the girl at the coffee counter she informed me that the owner keeps everything locked up until a manager arrives??? THIS IS DISGUSTING!!!! I then asked the front desk for a knife and they had none either. How does this hotel have the "audacity" to sell bagels and butter/cream cheese, charge for it and not provide any knifes to spread the butter??? I felt like I was paying to stay at a "no-frills" camp ground site with no amenities. Then one morning to use the men's room at 9am in the lobby and it's locked? I was told that due to the large amount of homeless people? Why is there no security guard for the guests? Then the final Monday morning we were there, I went to get coffee at the same counter and it was CLOSED???? I was told the staff member didn't show up?? I asked if anyone else can sell coffee and was told No.... so, then I had to go up, get my jacket, and walk to a different hotel to get coffee. What kind of customer service is this?? A guest picks a hotel based on amenities and other factors. Is it now easy to see that their website and info is basically all fraudulent as so much was not true DO NOT PICK this hotel and this property's ratings should be lowered to as low as possible.

Yelp
If you want to read a review of this hotel from an OCD type A person, continue reading. The place doesnt have windows unless you are staying on the rooms facing the street . Its a Sears turned into a hotel. The room was clean. The location is very centric. The wifi was non-functioning. (Our room toilet leaked.) Beside that, the AC was great. 6/10 recommend.

Yelp
I visited NOLA during a popular time of year where it was really difficult to find an Airbnb or hotel. After booking the Wyndham and than reading the reviews, I was nervous to stay there to say the least. Thankfully, I had a positive experience. The lobby looks a lot nicer than some of the photos you might see online, so it must have been renovated. Our room was clean and the location isn't as far from the French Quarter than I had expected.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Quiet, comfortable, clean. I really enjoyed my stay here. The front desk staff was so kind as well. Highly recommend.

Mary Ann G.

Yelp
No dresser in the room, every time you need towels or toilet paper need to go to desk to pick up. They don't clean room unless your there three days. Sheets and blankets are stained!!!!

Yelp
Walking distance to the French Quarter, affordability, and decent rooms make this hotel a great deal in my book. We decided on a trip to New Orleans kind of last minute, so surprisingly we found this hotel on Groupon. I tend to shy away from Groupon hotels, but the price and location was too good to be passed up. It definitely is not fancy, but at the same time, I felt it was fancy for a Groupon deal. We pulled up and were allowed to get our luggage out and then we self parked in their parking garage which was down below. Parking is kind of spendy, but I still felt it was worth it considering the decent price we got on the room. I will say, their lobby was pretty impressive. High ceilings and cool lighting made for a cool view from the balconies. There was small scale model of downtown New Orleans which was fun to look at. Check in was easy and staff was very friendly enough. The rooms itself were nice and clean. We had a view of the street and a bunch of dumpsters, and then the wall of the building directly across from us. It left alot to be desired, but let's be real here, who goes to New Orleans for the views from the room! I can not stress enough how the location was not bad at all. It's a short walk over to Canal and then to Bourbon Street. We had some great choices in restaurants close to our location as well. Overall, I would stay here again for the right price. I am always looking for bargain deals so I can spend more money on touristy stuff and great food!

Yelp
This hotel is literally a couple blocks from bourbon. If you're here in New Orleans to party and explore French Quarter this is an affordable option. The hotel is clean and comes with a fridge. We only stayed one night and the check out process was fast we went straight to bourbon after. The WiFi worked when we first got to the hotel but I'm the morning it had a couple quirks. Still had a great night in New Orleans and had a short walk back to get inside my bed!

Yelp
This place is a dump!!! Don't be fooled by the gorgeous entry way and the lobby.. The location is good but that's it. The hotel rooms are OLD... musty and not clean. I'd never stay here again....

Yelp
Jasmise was an outstanding front desk associate, gave awesome advice and provided amazing individual booking assistance with my traveling! The rooms are clean and all the staff are approachable and helpful!

Yelp
Good price and nice hotel. The room was clean. There was a fridge in the room but the microwave is downstairs in the lobby. There is no free breakfast but they do sell breakfast items in the lobby as well and they have seating. The bathtub was very big and clean but there is no mat or anything so BE CAREFUL not to slip when getting in. There isn't a pool but there is a fitness room and an office downstairs. I also don't think ths vending machine takes change.

Yelp
On Friday of my week's stay (third day), the staff refused to clean or make-up my room. They had three occasions for two hours in the morning and four hours in the afternoon. Before the second opportunity, I emplored the front desk staff to have the room made up. After an evening gala from 6P till after midnight, I returned to find once again the room unclean. Same dirty towels. Same un-made bed. No vacuuming. No trash removed. Instead of the rather large virile night manager offering to exchange towels or refund a day's stay, he instead had me evicted. By this time I had already protested to American Express asking them to deny payments to Wyndham Baronne. Not only will I not pay, I will only be satisfied to read that corporate Wyndham dismissed the night manager on duty that Friday evening.

Yelp
I'm giving this hotel two stars due to location and the friendly staff, other than that, I expected a little more from this hotel. We were there for 4 days and saw the same dirt on the floor; it would have taken 2 seconds to vacuum it up. There was minimal closet space and absolutely no drawer space. The refrigerator was in the bathroom along with the coffee pot...I've never seen that before. They did not have microwaves for us to use nowhere in the hotel. We were advised to go to another hotel

Yelp
The customer service was great, location was great, and my room accommodated my travel party of 5. The only downside about this property was the parking garage, one way in and one way out which had a very slim ramp

Yelp
If I could give this place zero stars I would. It is DISGUSTING. Floors dirty. Room dirty. Pillow cushions had black marks on them. The hotel itself is SO HOT AND SMELLY. Dust and dirt everywhere. We had two rooms where the ac didn't work and the manager told us and I quote "well you are in New Orleans" I didn't know that meant you didn't have ac never ever booking here again. And no housekeeping? It's like a hot Airbnb

Yelp
Never disappoints, this was my second time staying here. I love everything about the hotel. A little disappointed that the restaurant wasn't opened yet. But overall enjoyed my stay. There were 7 of us staying and everyone was impressed with the hotel. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Dashonne was on point and made sure we had everything we needed and check in went smooth. Tianna was awesome with the pre check in and I cant remember her name but the young lady working at the coffee shop on 10-7-18 in the late afternoon was extremely polite and very friendly. This will be my go to hotel whenever Im in NOLA

Yelp
Hotel room was dirty upon arrival, debris on floors, top sheet stained, too exhausted to change rooms after a long day of flying. In addition, walls are paper thin and can hear everything. I am Wyndham timeshare owner and very disappointed in the hotel brand. Also front desk staff could careless as it just a job. Not a lot of happiness. I will say great location and you would like having a great location the service standards would be up to par. Stay at your own risk. Will not be back to this one. I would have posted pics but the do not show it well.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel! Staff is very friendly and accommodating!! We got here around 11am -check in was around 12pm so they held our luggage for us while we walked around French quarters and bourbon street. The hotel is very nice ..spacious hallways. ..very quiet with a pretty nice view of the street. I was very impressed and would stay here again

Yelp
Our room was nice. Shower was hot and bathroom was clean. If you are a light sleeper, this place might be tough on you. I was woken up multiple times during the night due to guests in the hallway, slamming doors, car alarms going off, honking horns, and large delivery trucks. The walls are thin and so are the windows apparently. We were on the 2nd floor. We opted to self park because it was cheaper than valet of course. The parking garage entry was SUPER STEEP and a little bit stress inducing. (For small cars only). I probably won't stay here again unless it's super cheap. I just need my sleep, honestly!

Yelp
Booked this hotel for my vacation to NOLA and when I arrived the place was dark and we tried calling for about an hour with no one answering. Had to fine someplace else to stay. Would've been nice to have gotten some communication that this place was closed before we arrived. Do not stay here unless you want to risk having no place to sleep .

Yelp
The hotel was good for our purposes - quick family trip to Louisiana. Given the price (we got a Groupon) and the clean room and the proximity to both Frenchmen and Bourbon, I was tempted to give four stars. But I docked a star because the garage was crazy cramped. You have to pay additional for parking and the spaces are tiny with lots of awkward columns - hard for an SUV.

Yelp
The winning feature of this hotel is its great location. For $30 a night, you can park your car and walk to pretty much anywhere you'd want to go in New Orleans. For $40 a night, you can have a valet do it for you. This is about its only redeeming quality, and there are other hotels in the area that will gladly provide you the same service. Upon booking the hotel, we requested a roll-away bed. When we arrived, the roll-away bed was promptly delivered to our room - along with a far amount of dust and apparently makeup smeared on the back. It should be noted that a pillow did not come with this roll-away bed. One was borrowed from my bed, which had 3. This dovetails into my next issue. I had some problems that first night. These problems involved suddenly waking up in the middle of the night in a state of panic and gasping for air. The building is old and I though it might have been the dust aggravating my asthma and allergies. The plump dust bunnies in the air vent certainly indicate that the staff isn't that regular about changing the air filter. After taking some anti-histamines, I went back to sleep. The next morning, I realized the bedding contained down feathers, which I'm allergic to. I told the front desk of my allergies, and they said they would replace my pillows and bedding. However, housekeeping told me they had no non-down pillows or bedding available, and they would remove the filling from the comforter. I went back to the front desk to complain again, and was told they would try to find some non-down pillows for me. I went out for the day. When I came back, I found 1 pillow on my bed and no blankets or comforter. Furthermore, they had taken pillows from the other bed and the roll-away despite my roommate leaving a note indicating which bed I was using. The pillow on my bed still contained down feathers. We complained again. Housekeeping said they had no non-down pillows or bedding available and threatened to charge me if they had to retrieve one from another Wyndham in New Orleans (there are 3). At this, we went to the front desk to demand a refund for the two remaining nights we had paid for. After speaking to the manager, she said they had some non-down pillows in storage. Shortly thereafter, housekeeping delivered two pillows that had no down feathers to our room. I asked for a blanket since I didn't have a comforter, and they gave me a green, paper-thin blanket. They also replaced the other pillows they had taken for some unholy reason. By the way, the AC in the room does a really swell job of keeping the room frigid - just an FYI there. TL;DR: It took repeated requests and a threat to get a refund in order to acquire bedding and pillows that would allow me to sleep and breathe at the same time. If you're going to spend lots of money for the privilege of sleeping in a bed, give it to someone else.

Yelp
Going to New Orleans to find a quiet place to sleep? That's potentially a hard task close to the French Quarter, but Baronne Plaza Hotel pulled it off. My first impression of the hotel from the outside was that it was sort of run-down, but the inside is far nicer. There's an ornate lobby with some small side rooms with fireplaces and a sushi restaurant adjacent. The desk staff was friendly and when I arrived early for my room (it wasn't ready yet), they were able to stow my bags and let me roam around the city. There's also parking at the basement of the hotel (Careful! It's fairly narrow there.): you need to notify the front staff because they have a small gate blocking the entrance. The rooms are small but well furnished and clean. You can tell it's an older hotel, but has aged gracefully. Bathrooms are reasonably sized and come with a coffeemaker. One note from my room was that the shower did tend to change pressures: there would be a small squeek as if from a dying animal and the pressure would drop. Another squeek and the pressure would increase again. I liked to think that there was a small animal on a treadmill running the shower who would get momentarily tired and give a little squeek of fatigue. In case you were wondering, I was far more entertained by this than anyone has a right to be from a shower. Overall pricing is fair for a center city hotel and was a little bit cheaper than some of the other options along Canal Street. The location is hard to beat as well: a few blocks from the French Quarter and a short walk to the Riverfront and Convention Center.
