Yelp
Good hotel for visiting the area
I will start off with the positives of staying here. First, the staff is very friendly and the lobby is very welcoming. Not to mention the valet guys out front are super nice even though you may not use valet. After all, you need to park to check in and they look after things. I thought the room was very clean and it had everything we needed. Plus, I/we thought the beds were comfortable...and so were the pillows (which is huge). If you do self-park then please know there is a huge parking lot, so no worries about finding a spot. The pool area is large, with a nice outdoor bar/restaurant, a kid area, and a hot tub! Best of all, if you don't mind walking, Disney Springs is just a short walk away via a few staircases and/or an elevator and a bridge. The price for the room itself is reasonable.
Now for the negative...the resort fee is ludicrous! It is basically for transportation to the Disney parks. I realize that most, if not all, of the hotels in this area charge some type of resort fee, but if you aren't visiting the parks, why do you have to pay it? And this goes for all the hotels in this area. The excuse that it covers the internet, the pool, etc. is baloney because outside of an area such as this, it would be included anyway. To me, it's just one more way to get money sadly. Plus, I don't understand why I have to pay extra for parking if I'm not using valet and staying at the hotel...why doesn't the resort fee include self-parking at least? Unlike most Wyndham hotels, and because you are in this area, there is not a free breakfast here either. The room was clean for sure, but we had this gap under our door where there was too much space between the bottom of the door and the floor. Light came in, but we didn't think that was a biggie. However, it is a biggie when you can't get some peace and quiet when you're trying to sleep in. I woke up one morning at 7:50am to a few ladies cackling & talking a few doors down in the walkway (in the outside entry type hall) that seemed to amplify their voices and any noise they were making. I tried to turn down the air for white noise, but it didn't work. I tried to put a pillow in front of the door too to muffle the voices...didn't work. I had just gotten dressed to walk out at 8:25am, when they finally shut up and went into their room. From then on, I could hear every footstep, housekeeping cart, etc. because I became focused on listening. Beware of the gap!!! Next time, I'll bring something with me to set in front of the door just in case the next room has the same issue.
This hotel sees a lot of people and a lot of action I am sure. I would stay here again... just not happy about that resort & parking fees. I knew there would be fees before going, but that doesn't stop me from thinking they are crazy, steep, and they could do better! There is a lot to choose from in this area if you are coming this way. So be sure to read reviews to see what suits you. I wish, I wish, I wish they would rethink the "resort fee" and at least include the parking fee with folks staying there. With fees, it turns an affordable room into an expensive room. As for the experience overall, they are a little over average for this type of hotel. But if you're not looking for the bells and whistles, this is a great hotel. If it weren't for the crazy resort & parking fees I would have given them a higher rating even with the loud ladies waking me up from the gap. That said, again, it's a good hotel, but calling it a resort is a stretch.
End note: We weren't there to go to the parks, we just wanted to chill and go to Disney Springs, so it was good for what we needed it for. And again, the price for the room itself was reasonable and it made a little getaway possible. We enjoyed our time there, and we probably would go back sooner, or more, but we have to stay cognizant of those fees.
