Wyndham Garden Winnipeg Airport

On September 23rd, I arrived at Wyndham Garden Inn in Winnipeg with three colleagues. We had four rooms reserved for three nights, all with confirmation numbers from Expedia and the hotel. Despite this, when we arrived around 11:30pm, the front desk clerk informed us that the hotel was overbooked and our reservations would not be honored—even though our bookings were clearly visible in the hotel’s system. What was most aggravating was the staff’s complete lack of concern for our situation. The clerk made no effort to help us find accommodations, nor did he offer any apology or even a bottle of water. When asked if he was checking other hotels, he simply replied, “No,” and returned to whatever he was doing, leaving us stranded in the lobby at midnight. The attitude was matter-of-fact, telling four guests they might have to sleep on the street was just another routine part of the job. To make matters worse, when I sarcastically thanked the clerk for his “help,” a security guard who had appeared laughed at our predicament. When I confronted the guard, he nonchalantly said it wasn’t the clerk’s fault. The clerk then admitted that management was aware this had happened before, but clearly, Wyndham Garden Inn Winnipeg has no interest in addressing these failures or caring for its guests. We spent hours on the phone with Expedia and searching for other hotels, eventually finding two rooms at another property at 4am for the first night and securing accommodation for the rest of our stay—entirely without any help from Wyndham or Expedia. The indifference and lack of accountability shown by the staff was astonishing. I am horrified and so should anyone reading this review how much worse this situation would have been had I been elderly or a much younger version of myself traveling with a newborn. If this occurred in January in Winnipeg at -40c you would be reading my obituary rather than this review. This is not an exaggeration. While the hotel itself looked ok, I seriously doubt Wyndham’s commitment to customer service. No guest should ever be treated this way.

We had a gift certificate to use for this hotel, but would not likely chose to stay here again. ||Postives: The front desk people were kind and our room was fairly clean (despite a few random hairs found). It is also close to Polo Park mall and the airport. It has free parking (big parking lot) for guests.||Negatives: The damage deposit is $250 and the room rate is over $220 a night. The pool was 'broken' (front desk said they were waiting on a part). The hallway smelled bad (like sweat/urine/rotting food). The elevator and hall were dirty. There was used Kleenex, bedsheets, a lollipop, beer cans, dirty dishes, and dirt on the hall floor. ||I believe the staff were doing what they could, but it seems some current long term guests are being disrespectful in the hotel space.

Arrived at hotel late with a delayed flight late evening and they gave my room away. I was stranded at night with no room and was on the phone for hrs tryin to get another hotel. A lot phone call or email asking if I was going to late would have been nice!!!!

Spacious rooms and clean. The place is starting to get outdated but a good place to stay. Good restaurant downstairs too. 5 to 10 mins walkable distance to movie theater, grocery, Best Buy, Canadian Tire, food chains, etc.

Pretty good hotel. Kind of a strange location down an alley and got a nice view of a rooftop full of air conditioners but other than that I'd stay again. Also no microwave in the room

The Hotel is located in a good spot close to the mall, Bestbuy and other nice grocery stores, it has more than enough parking space, the hallway leading to the room is beautifully rugged and clean, the rooms are well designed and very spacious, and the washrooms are perfectly done, I would only suggest if they can make their TVs Netflix enabled, that will be awesome for entertainment.

Smokey everywhere. Navigate a barrage of butts in the lobby entrance. Non smoking rooms except the bathroom reeks of residual smoke. Booked for four people but only had three towels. Call down for replacements no sorry housekeeping is closed. Expensive though I'd be getting a bit higher level of service. Wouldn't return.

This was the first indigenous owned hotel so I went there to support the community but the rooms were not clean. Water was not passing through and it smells bad. Although it was a new building but was not kept very well. It was super noisy my next room guests were shouting and playing load music at around midnight. I ended up asking the reception to ask them to be quiet but they still shouted till morning I couldn't sleep even for one hour and I had meetings all day :( Don't recommend it.

Good place. They just never refunded me for my $250 deposit fee on Nov 7-8th. And it's been 6 days. My thing, if you're going to stay with these people, have a paper trail, because you won't get your deposit back unless you have proof.
