Mirabello Bay Luxury Resort | Hotels in Worldwide

Less than an hour’s drive from Heraklion airport lies the ideal headquarters for exploring Crete – Mirabello Bay Luxury Resort, perched on a prime stretch of coastline, with two private beaches at its disposal. It’s divided into two sides – the main resort and, across a little pedestrian bridge, a village of villas designed in traditional local style, some of which come equipped with their own private pools. Kids love hopping on golf carts to get around the place, particularly when they are dropped off at the impressively massive water park, an aquatic wonderland equipped with three brilliant flooms, a playground filled with hidden fountains and a bar where they can perch and have a juice in between splashing themselves silly. Wise parents will choose this moment to take it in turns to pay a trip to the Mirabello Spa, an oasis of relaxation where you can get a massage that feels like it takes ten years off you, followed up with a well-deserved laze in the heated pool. Out by the pair of beaches there’s a watersports centre where you can set up to go snorkelling, diving, banana boating or – most excitingly for nippers – head out on a speedboat tour. These trips, run by super-charming staff, take you out as far as the age-old fortified island of Spinalonga, past an imposing cliff where it is said that a pirate bounty has been buried, and then on to a beautiful empty bay where everyone will enjoy jumping off the boat and swimming in cerulean waters. Perhaps equally as exciting from a kid’s-eye view is the snack station by the beach where they can scoop out their own dream ice-cream combination whenever they want. There are also plenty of more substantial options. Bay Grill does lovely barbecue food and Elia restaurant offers super chilled Italian dining, with little breakout areas where the kids can relax and trail their feet in water while waiting for the pasta of the day to arrive. The resort’s Kafenion restaurant makes a specialty of authentic Cretan dishes, enjoyed in sharing style on a terrace under the stars. And for a really extraordinary experience, you can book a special wine-tasting at Spilia, a natural cave where a sommelier will take you through a flight of superb Cretan wines, matched with juices for the kids and plenty of fruit, cheese and cold cuts for everyone. A five minute drive from the hotel lies Agios Nikolaos, a lovely seaside town filled with arty shops where you can potter round and pick up some mementoes until the kids start to flag. Revive them with a cold drink at one of the cafes that hug the beach, where they can play in the sand while you take in the views. Bliss. - Timeout

Just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks at the Mirabello. This resort is massive and has everything you need, 2 beaches, 2 pools, pool bars, beach bar, some rooms have private pools, villas, bungalows, buffet restaurant, 4 al la carte restaurants, a water park with kids pool, tennis court, soccer pitch, snack bars, they offer so much I've probably forgotten something. We found the main bar in the evening a bit quiet for us and only had one guy serving, which can take a while to get served depending on how busy it is. The staff are so friendly and work very hard, special thanks to Karina at Bliss Bar, Mike, Anya, and another guy (didn't catch his name) at The Yacht Club Bar and Valaria who works very hard in the exclusive breakfast restaurant and the al la carte restaurants in the evenings. On arrival, our bungalow was located in the water park, which we weren't comfortable with as noisy between 10.30 and 6. The hotel staff were very happy to move us to another room the next day. The only thing lacking, and I feel the hotel could benefit from, is an adults only pool area to enable those travelling without children to have a bit of peace and quiet to chill, the perfect area for this would be the pool area in the Village with the Bliss Bar! It would have been great to have a list of the benefits of the all-inclusive premium package on check-in or a code to scan to ensure you know what's included. For example, we were there 5 days before we realised there was an exclusive breakfast restaurant! Nearby, it's a 30-minute walk into Agios Nikolaos for shopping, eating, or walking around the lake with spectacular views. There are plenty of shops and restaurants. It's a 15-minute taxi ride into Elounda, a lovely village where you can get a boat over to Spinalonga. There are plenty of shops and restaurants.

We had a really lovely holiday here with 2 teenagers. The hotel and location is lovely. The beach and sea are perfect - yes there are a lot of steps but then you are straight onto a great little beach and calm clear sea, with lots of sunbeds. There are so many nice locations to sit and enjoy the view, and lots of bar and restaurant areas. There’s a nice walk up the hill to a little church and again amazing views. The teens loved the watersports, especially the crazy couch. The town of Agios Nikolaos is really pretty with lots of nice bars. We found the food at the hotel very good, especially the Mediterranean on the beach. The staff are all wonderful, so friendly and hard working. The bar staff, especially Mike and his brother Daniel were amazing every day. Also, thanks to Matthew in Guest Services who found a forgotten teddy bear and quickly arranged for it to be sent back to us. We would definitely go back and think it’s a great family hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay and will be going back again next year. The water park is great. Unfortunately one of the slides wasn’t working but this wasn’t a huge problem as the other slides were great. The hotel and grounds are lovely and there is a good selection of different foods in the main buffet. The beach is beautiful with plenty of sun loungers.

Just back from a few days here, it was a great trip, before we arrived I reached out to the hotel as had a few questions, Matthew kindly answered them and was very helpful. Upon arrival we were shown to our suite, the hotel had gone above and beyond with providing champagne, chocolate cake and towel swans with fresh flowers laid out for us. The suite was stunning with our own private pool which was a great size with patio area. Food was great, a big selection to cater for all, for breakfast we had the option to eat in Ela restaurant which was a quieter setting with fresh food to order available. Desserts were brilliant always a large selection, snacks available in various locations around the resort. Drinks were branded and tasted great from cocktails to spirits, you name it they had it or would make it for you. The whole resort was great and clean, with towel available for sun beds. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone. There is a shop on site and also over the road which was handy, the only downside but nothing the resort can do about it is the transfer from airport took 2 hours which was long after a days travel. Would definitely consider coming back again.

Pros: - Stylish hotel which is designed well to cater to families. - Comfy bed and great nights sleep but we had good neighbours who were quiet. - Good location - near to local town which has great restaurants. 20 min walk away. - Lovely staff, very friendly and kind - Great food in the Mezedaki and Elia restaurant - Beautiful layout and easy to get around. - Taxis available from hotel to wherever - Great range of water sports and knowledge staff there - Good spa treatments and staff - Amazing room with beautiful sea view which is large and spacious (we had a deluxe room suite with a sea view) - Good range of daily activities for all different ages both children and adults. -Gorgeous scenery. Cons - Not enough staff, regularly queuing over 10 minutes for a drink - Complete self service in main restaurant and not all drinks available. Only beer, wine (awful and on tap) and soft drinks all on tap. - Cold plates in buffet. - Overall average food quality very hit and miss. It doesn’t line up with the hotel being 5* more 4* - Disappointed that we were only allowed to eat in the other restaurants 3 times- despite this not being disclosed. We thought we could eat there whenever. They also claimed to be fully booked restaurants but were never full. - Mini fridge was extra to be restocked apart from water which was at no extra cost (but this had to be requested) and was never restocked on its own. - Actual spa & gym with cold pool, sauna and steam room needs maintenance. Steam room is never hot and sauna is always out of water, therefore we always brought water bottles with us. Tiles coming off bottom of pool in cold pool. Not big enough facilities for a large resort. Gym is good but equipment is old and needs newer equipment. Dirty yoga mats. - Towel station: Towel station doesn’t open till 10am but most people are already out by then. My suggestion is that it opens earlier. - Closed off part: 1 restaurant and two bars were closed as we went in October. This was not made aware to us and we were disappointed that we didn’t get to go to one of the restaurants we were looking forward to. Overall, I would recommend this as a family resort but not for couples. We would say it is 4/5 stars BUT we would not return as the food is simply not up to scratch.

We spent 2 weeks in this resort and it was an amazing experience. The staff was welcoming and always happy to support. Nice view and access to the Mediterranean Sea 🌊. Pools were relaxing, toboggan is a real plus. Food is in general good. A special thanks to Sofia the Restaurant Manager who was tracking each single detail to make our stay special. This resort is adapted to families with kids/babies. Ps: special attention, I got a birthday cake during my stay with a card from the staff 😊 We will be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We’ve just enjoyed a truly wonderful stay at Mirabello Bay Luxury Resort, and it was everything we could have hoped for in a family holiday. The all-inclusive experience was excellent – from the generous buffets with plenty of variety to the delicious cocktails served at the different bars, everything was top quality. The resort itself is stunning, with many beautiful pools to choose from, and the water park was an absolute highlight for our children (ages 7 and 9) – they had the best time there! What made the holiday even more special was the staff, who were always friendly, attentive, and eager to help. Their warmth and professionalism created such a welcoming atmosphere. All in all, we had a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend Mirabello Bay Luxury Resort to families or anyone looking for a relaxing, carefree getaway.

We have booked for a family of four through Arkia and got a very small room, not suitable for four, with no availability to upgrade for a bigger room. The beach is fabulous, all the facilities are great (so fabulous that there was left color in the pool that made prints on our feet and sweamsuits) The service givers are all very polite and nice. Many employees everywhere you turn there's some one who helps, switches to fresh food/towels... The place is big and you have to be prepared to walk a lot of stairs - or maybe people with strollers or disability get closer rooms ...
